If you haven't seen Hay House's Lifestyles series of gorgeous gift books, there is no better way to acquaint yourself than with publisher/author Louise Hay's You Can Heal Your Life. A bestseller for many years, You Can Heal Your Life has been republished with bright, beautiful illustrations in full, living color and exquisite typography--each and every page is a work of art by artist Joan Perrin Falquet. The timeless message of the book is that we are each responsible for our own reality and "dis-ease." Hay believes we make ourselves ill by having thoughts of self-hatred. She includes a directory of ailments and emotional causes for each with a corresponding affirmation to help overcome the illness. For example, the probable cause of multiple sclerosis is "mental hardness, hard-heartedness, iron will, and inflexibility." The healing "thought pattern" would be: "By choosing loving, joyous thoughts, I created a loving joyous world. I am safe and free." --P. Randall Cohan
Book Description
Louise explains how limiting beliefs and ideas are often the cause of illness, and how you can change your thinking...and improve the quality of your life.

Abridged Audio: Mandatory Listening For All Humans. .......2007-10-21
I have the 2 tape abridged audio version. It may not be available anymore. The full version is probably OK but may not be as to the point. This work is mandatory listening for all humans. No question, no doubt. Just get it. Listen, learn, enjoy. It is a little weak in the area of responsibility. Follow this up with Nathanial Brandon 6 Pillars of Self Esteem and do the 31 week excercise to reinforce that.
I recommend the audio version. Listen to it at least six times in the coming year. You will pick up on different things that are relavent to what you depending on where your at, and as things change for you.
Filled with good ideas and concepts that can make anyone's life better. Louise Hay is Wayne Dyer on steroids. I think he gets a lot of his material from her anyway. Feel the love.
SECOND TIME AROUND.......2007-10-13
FOLLOWING THE WRITERS INSTRUCTIONS, I READ THROUGH THE BOOK WITHOUT DOING THE EXERCISES,AND NOW I AM READING IT THE SECOND TIME AND DOING THE EXERCISES. I FIND IT AMAZING HOW MUCH I AM LEARNING ABOUT MYSELF. I THOUGHT I KNEW MYSELF AFTER 83 YEARS, BUT THAT WAS ALL THE OUTER IDEAS PICKED UP FROM EVERYWHERE AND EVERYBODY.
I AM NOW, REALLY FINDING OUT WHO I AM DEEP DOWN INSIDE. SOME I LIKE, AND SOME I DON'T LIKE. THOSE WILL BE CHANGED.
READING HER LIFE AND HOW SHE CHANGED, IS THE MOST AMAZING THING I HAVE EVER READ.

Louise Hay author .......2007-09-28
Wonderful information that can apply to anyone's life...how to change your life and get rid of all your excess mental baggage. A definite help book.
Amazing.......2007-09-21
I couldn't put this book down. It was an easy read and I have shared its contents with everyone I come in contact with. I carry it with me and re-read various sections daily to keep the information fresh in my mind. As I apply the principles I see a change in my life. Thank You Louise Hay. I wish I had found this book a long time ago!
A Must-Have for Those Working with Individuals in Distress.......2007-09-18
As a coach and a psychotherapist, I refer to this book in work with my clients very frequently (several times per week), and find it invaluable in helping individuals open to and receive the idea that their illness or physical situation has an underlying meaning that is critical to understand. Ms. Hay articulates the potential underlying problem so clearly and concisely, that my clients are often dumbfounded at the relevance of the message to their emotional challenges at the time. This material educates in a way that's also compassionate and empathic, which is essential in helping people move forward. I'm thrilled to have this book in my library and can't recommend it highly enough!
Book Description
In this book Louise applies techniques of self-love and positive thinking to a wide range of topics that affect us all on a daily basis.

You Can Heal Your Life Companion Book .......2007-08-27
Just because it is similar doesn't lessen the work. I have been a facilitator of "self healing" groups for over 15 years. Of the dozens of authors there is none that brings the message forward as simply and beautifully as Ms Hay. If you can only own one book, get "You can Heal Your Life" don't let its simplicity fool you. I have purchased so many dozen copies for clients, and friends.(and i keep coming back to it over and over again. If this information is taken to heart or embraced everthing will change for you.
The companion book and or the workbook are great additions but worth it. You are worth it.(inventory books like this help you see patters, behaviors and new ways of approaching them. I haven't listed to in some years but "GET any CD" on :self healing: and "what I believe" and prepare to be uplifted. Its like the great ladys states :"change your thinking and change your life"

It's the SAME THING..........2007-03-28
... as You Can Heal Your Life. It's disappointing because it's pretty obvious the author just wants to make money. Oh, sorry, but she isn't qualified to help us heal- find a therapist!
I Cannot Speak for ANYONE ELSE.......2005-05-11
I enjoy the exercises in this book. Instead of writing on the pages, I use post it notes in the event I may feel the need to revisit the exercises at a later point and time.
It may be a remake of another book, but I don't have that other book, just the "You Can Heal Your Life" book itself.
This is a good thinking exercise book to help you work through your problems and change old thinking patterns that hold you back.
Same Book, New Title.......2003-01-16
As stated by another reviwer, this is basically the same book as the earlier "You Can Heal your Life Workbook." My personal preference with this type of book, in which you are writing and doing exercises, is to have a basic, soft-cover, easy-to-use format. This version is printed as a fancy gift-y type of book, with shiny full-color pages and a lot of (to me) distracting and unnecessary illustrations. So...if you like pretty, gift-y books, get this version. If not, get a copy of the earlier version. But YOU DON'T NEED TO BUY BOTH!
I'd have liked to give this a better rating... but I can't........2002-05-30
I love Louise Hay books. I own almost all of her stuff.
She writes in a very down to earth way, in very clear easy to understand language. Her books also work! I have dealt with and overcome several issues by using her books.
However, with this Compaion book, I have to ask myself "Why?" It is almost identical in nature to the You Can Heal Your life Workbook. If you own that, there is little need to purchase this companion. While there are three or so new "chapters", the lay out, and most of the content is the same as the Workbook.
I was a bit confused by the other review on this book, because this book is almost journal-like in nature. There are sections for each issue in your life, with affirmations (Louise loves her affirmations), checklists, and then questions that you answer pretty much in journal form. Louise also includes exercises to perform to help you to open up to the affirmations that will help you heal your life.
Louise has before published several books that are almost identical in nature to previously published books. Be careful when you're purchasing her stuff. Just because the title is different doesn't mean the book is. Check the content out well first! It'll save you some money.

Customer Reviews:
Valuable reference source.......2007-02-14
The Herb Bible is ideal for those who are interested in getting to know about herbal remedies and their benefits. It is not a detailed botanical work but intended for the average reader. Most of these herbs are available in pharmacies and health shops and are easy to use. The author explains what herbs are, their healing properties and how they work in the body.
He provides information on how to buy herbs, the shelf life of herbs, the correct amounts, plus a brief history of herbal medicine. Then follows the Hot 100 of the most popular herbs today, from Alfalfa to Witch Hazel. Every entry contains the popular name, the botanical name, facts, possible benefits, how to use it orally and/or externally, and cautions.
The familiar time-tested herbal remedies still in use today are discussed, and there is a chapter on herbs from around the world including remedies from India, China and the Americas. Other chapters deal with herbs that are specifically aimed at men and women. The preventive use of herbs, especially against heart disease and cancer, is discussed, plus those that promote blood circulation, boost the immune system, counteract the effects of aging, help liver function and improve vision.
A chapter is devoted to herbal grooming products. The author also deals with aromatherapy - the use of essential oils for healing. In the Resources section, details of professional and trade associations, mail order companies and suppliers of fresh herbs and plants are provided. The book concludes with an extensive bibliography and index. The Herb Bible is a valuable reference source for those who wish to take responsibility for their own health.
Doesn't touch all the bases.......2006-06-02
Good place to start, but even a novice like myself knows the dangers of using MAO inhibitors(like passionflower, yohimbe and St.John's Wort which are "covered" in this book)with fermented cheese, meat and beer and wine-Mindell doesn't even mention this-He also recommends a starting point for dosage as a tablespoon per cup(it's actually 1 1/2 teaspoons to be safe)-But,really,if you know nothing at all about herbalism, this is a good enough book.
A good book but in no way a definite source.......2005-10-27
Earl Mindell's New Herb bible was one of the first books I bought on herbs. While this book is useful as a reference, it is in no way a definitive source that should be called a 'bible.' The writing is well done and simple, and the text and information aimed more toward a beginner in every sense of the word.
Mindell is more of a supplement expert, and it does show from time to time here. Some of his comments gave me pause though. For instance, he says "Homeopathic extracts used by homepathic practitioners are much stronger than conventional herbal tinctures and are strictly regulated by the FDA. They should only be used in conjunction with treatment by a homeopath practitioner." This threw me a bit, I'll admit it.
He goes on to say that herbal powders are common, yet does not mention that powdered herbs lose potency amazingly fast. When he said bitters can be nasty tasting and that some may prefer them in capsules, it's also left out that when you don't taste a bitter on the tongue, you don't get the effect, which is the point of taking a bitter. He also discusses Hippocrates as the father of modern medicine, a slight peeve of mine but no fault of the authors.
Chapter 2 is the point of the book - the 'hot hundred' Here Mindell discusses briefly 100 herbs. Some have one paragraph, others have six, with a listing of possible benefits, then how to use it, then cautions if applicable. As a quick reference for the beginner this is useful; however, it's also quite vague. Many can sit and say what an herb has been historically used for, what evidence may or may not show (using these words), but I never got the feel he put much faith into the herbs themselves.
Some of the cautions are a bit overdone as well, such as not to use blue cohosh because it could be toxic in high doses. Well....lots of things are toxic if overdosed on, does this mean we shouldn't use them in the right amount? On Cayenne pepper he states that people with gastrointestinal problems should not take cayenne and that you should be careful on the dose. Actually cayenne has shown much benefit in treating several gastrointestinal disorders and even if it feels hot going down, does not do damage or harm (or heat impact) internally. As to it causing kidney damage in high dosages? Never heard of this either.
However, this is not to say he is overly cautious about all, for he is not. He provides much of the information in a non-biased, fair way. He states the facts or studies on some herbs as they are, and then may put in his personal recommendation, such as on the comfrey controversy. His inclusion of "how to use it" for each herb came in handy as well.
From the hot hundred we go on to a listing of traditional favorites, broken down in the same way as above, then herbs from around the world (nice touch). Finally the herbal medicine cabinet has some basic and helpful remedies for a variety of complaints, from indigestion to colds and flu prevention. It ends with a chapter dedicated to women, then men, looking good, and aromatherapy.
In short it is a good book but because the scope was so large everything was kept short, basic, and simple...too much so. You learned a small bit about every herb, but not enough to really know the herb well enough. I would rather have a book that covered them in depth than barely brushing across them. All of it is generic, and cautious.
While good for a beginner, there are others out there that educate more and allow one to see the bigger picture of things. Sometimes people who are past the beginners stages take great joy and still learn from basic herbals, I know I do, but this isn't the case here. I'm afraid if you've passed Herbalism 101 you'll be bored soon with this. Stick to it if you only want to know the basics a small bit at a time.
A broad survey of herbs from Earl Mindell........2002-09-27
Dr. Earl Mindell has performed an invaluable service by writing a series of authoritive books on the role of vitamins, minerals, and outher nutrients in human health. One such book was his original Earl Mindell's Herb Bible. Earl Mindell's New Herb Bible is a revised and more extensive book on herbs which is still authoritive and easy to use. If you are interested in the role of herbs in human health you should have a copy of this book.
all in all, a great book on herbs.......2001-09-25
This is the book to read if you are interested in herbs. Its well written, easy to read, and extremely informative. If there is anything that you need to know about herbs, you can find it in this book. Earl Mindel has presented the best work on herbs that I have read

Louise L. Hay, bestselling author, is an internationally known leader in the self-help field. Her key message is: "If we are willing to do the mental work, almost anything can be healed." The author has a great deal of experience and firsthand information to share about healing, including how she cured herself after being diagnosed with cancer.
An excerpt from You Can Heal Your Life: Life Is Really Very Simple. What We Give Out, We Get Back
What we think about ourselves becomes the truth for us. I believe that everyone, myself included, is responsible for everything in our lives, the best and the worst. Every thought we think is creating our future. Each one of us creates our experiences by our thoughts and our feelings. The thoughts we think and the words we speak create our experiences

You Can Heal Your Life: Study Course/Audio Cassettes/302.......2000-05-23
I found this audio tape very good. It is helpful to hear the author explain her system. It is almost like having them there in person. It makes it more personal then reading a book and doing the exercises. Can hardly wait to listen to the tape again and again exploring it to a deeper level of understanding.

A Great Reminder.......2006-08-05
The CD contains powerful reminders for paying attention to the thoughts that ramble through the mind all day long... and changing them to create what I want. I put my favorite affirmations on the attractive magnet board and look at them every time I pass. This will be a wonderful gift for anyone you love and upon whom you wish success.
Beautiful Gift, Great Fun and Practical.......2006-01-23
I LOVE THIS KIT. I got it for Christmas from my Mother. I have been lucky enough to get Louise Hay books from people in my life. They are all great examples of how our mind is the most powerful influence in our lives.
The Book: With checklists, affirmations and guidance on how to change your mind patterns to constructive positive thoughts. For a little book it packs in a lot.
The CD: I listen to it everyday whilst I am at the gym, perfect companion. It is mostly the book. What I love is after each section; prosperity, stress, love, work, there are great affirmations with music.
The Cards: They are everywhere. I have them at work, on my fridge at home, near my bed and have given some to my friends.
The Magnet Set: How much fun is this, make your own affirmations and place the board where you can see it everyday.
And all of this for that price, you can not go wrong. Nearly everyone I know is going to get this as a pressie from me.
Thank you Louise for this great idea, anyone and everyone will benefit from Louise's teachings. I have been a practicing Wiccan for over 8 years and the simple but POWERFUL ideas that Louise introduces never cease to amaze and transform me.
More useful suggestions than in material far longer!.......2005-10-11
I heard YOU CAN HEAL YOUR LIFE AFFIRMATION KIT, a
marvelous CD written and read by Louise L. Hay . . . as she suggests
on the cover, "listen to this CD as often as possible, and let the ideas
permeate your consciousness until they become a part of you."
And I've been doing just that since a friend lent it to me . . . though
it is only a little more than an hour in length, it has more useful
suggestions than many other programs that are far longer.
For example:
Say affirmations in the present tense, not in the future. Such as,
"I have" and "I am."
Life doesn't suck. It is your thinking that sucks.
The more you talk about problems, the more you anchor them
into place.
When you start something, keep your affirmations to yourself.
If you say, "I have no creativity," it will live with you the rest of
your life."
Ask those you love, "How can I love you more?"
