good for separation anxiety stage.......2007-09-15
I first read this book when my daughter was 6 months old, she is 27months old now and still loves reading the book. we play act the book now, and she's full of laughs.
Fun book every time we read it!.......2007-07-19
This book is so cute as you peek a boo look for mommy on each page. What a cute and fun book the kids love this one everytime!
Oooooh, where is she?!!!.......2007-04-17
Toddlers will love this fun story. It has a hint of mystery as Baby searches for its Mommy. This is a unique way to teach kids the process of elimination as the illustrations rule out each place where Baby's Mommy is not hiding in anticipation of the exciting reunion between Baby and Mommy.
Excellent.......2006-11-11
Though my Son likes books of all kinds, he absolutely loves this and other Karen Katz lift-the-flap books. The illustrations are so simple, colorful and bright. After having read it a zillion times, he still is not tired of smiling everytime he finds mommy!
Where is Baby's Mommy?.......2006-08-07
My 20-month daughter absolutely loves this book. Lifting all the flaps and being suprised everytime to see what is behind them. Always when she finds the Mommy I say " There's mommy" she looks at me with her big brown eyes and says "NO" and points to me and says "Mommy". The book is absolutely ADORABLE.

Newborns and 4 year olds all love these books. I give them to all of my friends as a baby shower gift.

<3 Karen Katz.......2007-05-16
These are, hands down, our daughter's favorite books. She enjoys them over and over. The illustrations are bright and cute -- highly recommend these books -- especially the lift the flap -- she LOVES them.
Baby's Box of Fun.......2007-05-13
I purchased this book set for my grandson when he was 12 months old. Listening to books is the only time he actually sits still. His favorite book was Toes, Ears, & Nose although he likes all the books because they are interactive. The only problem with the books is if he is left unsupervised or even when holding him, he rips off the flaps in the books. We have had to glue them back on numerous times. I would highly recommend these books but you must be careful with babies that are aggressively interactive with the books.
LOVE! LOVE! LOVE!.......2007-03-28
This item was received as a gift and my 2 yr old loves her lift the flaps books. Her favorite out of this collection is "Where is Mommy". I have also purchased them for my friends children and they love them.
Never received mine, bought from 'oktrbks'.......2007-01-05
I bought this from 'oktrbks' and never received.
Contacted the seller and was asked if I want another copy so I said 'yes'
I have not received this yet. I was waiting for this because I believed the seller will send me an another copy. But now It's been more than 90 days so I can not even get my money back.
Not a big money but doesn't feel good at all about the seller's feedback.
Will see if the seller will contact me about this item or not.
I sent an memo to seller today again.

Customer Reviews:
Nice little book set, some issues with flaps........2007-10-18
This is a very cute little box set. My daughter has always enjoyed books by Karen Katz. I love the interactive aspect of it. However, as is the case with all Karen Katz's books, the flaps come off way too easily when a child pulls on them slightly. I have to use clear tape to attach the flaps back where they belong in all of the books. We already had to buy 3 replacements for the books my daughter enjoys the most. Perhaps it's the publisher's way to ensure constant demand. I found these books at local TJMaxx and Marshall's for $2-$4.
A Must-Have for Interactive Reading.......2007-09-20
These books are a must-have for all babies! The artwork is adorably colorful, and the interactivity of the flaps makes reading more fun; it gives baby something to do while you read.
Great books.......2007-05-25
Our daughter fell in love with these books around 6 or 7 monhts and still gets excited and selects them over others at 14 months. She has learned so much through them too! We have many of Katz board books with the flaps, and are so happy the author is so prolific. Our daughter likes them all, but the 4 here are her favorites (and "What Does Baby Say?"). Keep them coming!
Great for the family.......2007-05-21
These books are a great way for everyone in the family to feel appreciated and loved. They make the reader (grandmother for example) feel even more special. I love them.
They're also sturdy enough for my 9 month old to play with and chew on. These aren't his favorite books (that's Violet's House) but they're still great.
And I love that it's cheaper to buy the set than it is to buy the books individually! :) I love book sets.
karen katz books.......2007-03-21
My daughter is 14 months old and she LOVES these flap books. She has many books, but these are her absolute favorite. We have several sets in fact. I carry them with us in the diaper bag...there are some in the car...at Grandma's house....she never gets bored with them. We read them several times a day!!!

How You Were Born
ASIN: 0811813193 |
Book Description
In this hilarious twist on one of the most difficult discussions in a child's development, award winning author Babette Cole illustrates the one question all children are bound to ask: Where do babies come from? Mom explains that you can make babies out of gingerbread, grow them from seeds, or squeeze them out of tubes, while Dad says you can find babies under rocks. Amused by their parents' silly answers, the children decide to set the adults straight. In a series of zany diagrams, the children show the adults exactly where babies come from. The offbeat illustrations are accompanied by a text that is short, simple, and anything but predictable. This is a funny book that will delight, entertain, and educate the entire family.

Funny and accurate without being too deep - perfect introduction!.......2007-06-29
My kids and I love this book. It takes a potentially embarassing subject from lots of blushing, mumbling, and eyerolling, to something funny and open and natural. It's a good way to answer those first questions about the "birds and bees" without getting all clinical and serious. I first gave it to my children when they were around six or seven - they are now approaching their teens and they'll still read it, every once in awhile, just because it's so darn cute and funny. I'm glad it gave us an opportunity to talk about this stuff while they were still young and receptive - it has paved the way for us to continue to be open and communicate with one another as they grow up.
Refreshing Book for the Mom Who Thinks Knowledge about Sex Keeps Kids Safe.......2007-03-19
The basic controversy about this book is that it shows cartoonish characters in sexual positions--funny ones on innertubes, swings, etc. Some parents think that it's wrong for kids to know how sex happens. Some think that the pictures offer a great opportunity--perhaps for the parent to have a discussion about healthy, responsible sex.
This book is for the mom who is looking for a way to tell her kids how the sperm gets into the mommy. Yes, I'm one of those parents because I believe that only with the right information will my kids have the wisdom to make good decisions. After all, when they need to make this decision, I probably won't be there, will I?
This is for the parent that believes that having the discussion about sex early and often will encourage the child to continue to come to the parent for sound advice.
This book was a delightful way to make a potentially uncomfortable discussion comfortable. Although the pictures don't get into many details, they allow parents to broaden the discussion. Parents can use the pictures to talk about how it's possible to keep the sperm from getting to the egg; why we might want to do that; when it's a good time to have sex and when it isn't such a great idea; that with this knowledge we have control over what happens.
I love the fact that this book shows that sex is fun. Sex IS fun. That's an important, healthy message too. In the end, I'd rather that my kids hear this from me. They hear it from movies, their friends, and television as it is, so I like the fact that this book allows me to offer my tempering opinion on the subject.
This is a great book for moms who want to raise kids who grow up feeling that sex is a natural, good part of life. The mom who buys this book wants to say that sex is not dirty; sex is not shameful. This book is for the mom who wants her kids to have the basic knowledge they need to act responsibly.
The perfect start of an interesting discussion.......2007-02-06
We own this book and also "Where did I Come from?" by Peter Mayle (which I had as a child in the '70's.)
For our family, this book has been a comfortable light-hearted way to answer our preschoolers' questions about where she came from without getting bogged down in confusing medical terminology.
She definitely *GETS* it, thinks it's hilarious (especially the part about the babies growing on plants) and says she loves the drawings. (She's a very visual person) As far as the 2 page spread showing the hippie couple "doing it" on the hippity hop, all I can say is: I think this section was designed to make the adult reader laugh. (Lighten up folks...sex IS pretty funny and slightly ridiculous when you think about it) My daughter barely glossed over this part and was far more interested in the "great egg race". Comparing the 2 books, I am far more comfortable reading this than the Mayle book, which I think is more suitable for older kids as it delves more into the "making love" aspect of reproduction. Kudos to the author/illustrator for tackling a tough topic in a charming and funny way.
Great for Parties..........2006-07-01
Adult parties, that is. As a person with a dirty mind, I loved this book, as a mother, I was offended. It had cartoons doing "it" in several positions. The pictures were too much, and I will never show my kids this book.
appalling.......2006-06-11
I'm surprised this book isn't banned. I'm not a prude or religious at all and believe children should learn about sex. But there's a limit to what they should know and how they should be taught. There are many other, more civilised, ways to bring up the subject. Babette Cole brings up very inappropriate subjects for kids with very inappropriate illustrations. If you think this book is shocking, try reading "Mummy Never Told Me", by the same auther.

Customer Reviews:
Not what I had in Mind.......2000-01-23
When I ordered this book I was looking for an answer to my six-year-old question "where do babies come from?" From the title I thought this book would help with the uncomfortable topic of sex at a six-year-old level. The only thing this book did was preach about morals and values which I mostly agree with but are not completely true to this day and age with combined families and single parent families being more common. Plus I know how to teach morals and values I wanted something to explain the new baby in my tummy to my daughter. This book did not do that at all.
A book about good values.......1999-11-09
This book is not for educating your child about sex, it is to teach your child values about when sex is appropriate. It seems a little wordy and not as forthright as I might have liked, but the message is a very valuable one.
Charming book with a moral message!.......1999-04-23
I recently purchased this book for my niece and was absolutely delighted by it. The main character, Jenny had parents who explained to her what must come before making babies: deep love and marital commitment. The negative effects of not waiting for true love and marriage were emphasized also. There is nothing inappropriate or offensive about this book. It is a good stepping stone for talking to your child more in depth about sexuality. You must buy this book!
