Based on his father's bestselling The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, Sean Covey applies the same principles to teens, using a vivacious, entertaining style. To keep it fun, Covey writes, he "stuffed it full of cartoons, clever ideas, great quotes, and incredible stories about real teens from all over the world... along with a few other surprises." Did he ever! Flip open to any page and become instantly absorbed in real-life stories of teens who have overcome obstacles to succeed, and step-by-step guides to shifting paradigms, building equity in "relationship bank accounts," creating action plans, and much more.
As a self-acknowledged guinea pig for many of his dad's theories, Sean Covey is a living example of someone who has taken each of the seven habits to heart: be proactive; begin with the end in mind; put first things first; think win-win; seek first to understand, then to be understood; synergize; and sharpen the saw. He includes a comical section titled "The 7 Habits of Highly Defective Teens," which includes some, shall we say, counterproductive practices: put first things last; don't cooperate; seek first to talk, then pretend to listen; wear yourself out... Covey's humorous and up-front style is just light enough to be acceptable to wary teenagers, and down-and-dirty enough to really make a difference. (Ages 13 and older) --Emilie Coulter

Excellent resource for teenagers.......2007-10-25
This has proven to be an excellent resource for teenagers, especially those entering high school. This book is easily read, and will offer excellent information to the high school or middle school student. I recommend adding a written journal aspect, as this would afford the student an opportunity to reflect on personal thoughts, goals, etc.
Highly recommended!
DON'T READ THIS BOOK!!!.......2007-10-12
This book is the most painful book I've ever had to read. Spare yourself and don't read it.
Grest Book.......2007-09-12
This book is excellent to guide your children on the right path of life at an early age.
Good Book.......2007-09-02
The book was fine, after I ordered it from Books A Million. I had ordered it from Amazon's vendor "Warehouse Deals", and after waiting two weeks with no book and no response to my questions to "Warehouse Deals" I ordered from Books A Million. On their behalf Amazon did credit my account. Still have not had a response from the seller(?).
highly recommended!!.......2007-08-26
I actually bought this book for myself when I was 25 years old. I didn't buy it for a teenaged brother or a daughter. It was purely for myself. I had read Stephen Covey's "7 Habits..." when I was in college and was very inspired by the book but decided to buy this book just to check it out. It looked like a fun read and I was curious to know what Stephen's son had to say about the habits. As mentioned in other reviews, both books have exactly the same ideas except Sean's book presents the ideas in a much simpler form (without losing the essense). I think the simplicity of Sean's book actually enhances the message being communicated. And now, although I still have Stephen Covey's book, I refer back to Sean Covey's book instead when I want a refresher. I highly recommend this book to adults who are looking for inspirational self-help books. I am going out to buy Sean's other book which seem to be receiving higher acclaim. Cheers.

I use this book in my clinical practice. It allows my clients to make positive changes in thier lives. It is user friendly and easy to use and understand.
Great Resource.......2006-06-24
This book is fantastic! Was great assistance for my neice who is getting ready to finish High School. Very well written and easy to read.
offers no new material, but still worthwhile for workout with the exercises!.......2006-06-02
This workbook is basically an extension of the author's 'The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens'.
As it stands, it doesn't offer much new or exciting material.
From my personal experience, working with a workbook (based on Stephen Covey's main book & workbook in my case), coupled with the use of a personal journal, is often an uncharted journey into greater self-discovery. Having said that, I must say that this workbook is well-crafted by Sean Covey for use by teen readers.
Through the interactive exercises, worksheets & profiles, teen readers will find the workout experiences very useful in their understanding - & application - of proven time-tested tools for enhancing personal effectiveness.
Numerous field research reports over the years have consistently shown that the differential between successful teens & struggling teens lies in their habitual patterns. Successful teens have powerful habits.
The 7 Habits model is definitely a very good model.
[The 7 habits have their origins in some 200 years of published success literature. Both authors have done an extremely marvellous job in synthesising all those time-tested tools & ideas.]

The 7 HELPFUL Habits for Teens.......2002-06-04
This book is great! Teenagers can really relate to this kind of stuff! The book is jam packed with pictures, quotes, and best of all the best advice a teenager could get!
It's divided into sections of the 7 Habits for Highly Effective Teens. This book isn't a book to preach or lecture. It's a book to learn from and grow from.
If you really take this book to heart it could change your life somehow. It could help give you more positive outlooks on life.
This is a great book for teenagers~
A College-Student's Review of "7 Habits ... Teens".......2001-07-24
* * * * * FIVE STARS! NO DOUBT ABOUT IT! * * * * * Last summer I found this book on my younger brother's desk--a gift to him from our mother. As an eighteen-year-old college student, I thought the writing would be "too young" for me. NOPE! I read the book and it has significantly changed my views of myself, others, and the world. On another note, I liked the book so much that I decided to check out 'the original,' Sean's father's book (7 Habits of ... *people*): the verdict: I personally found the book for Teens a MUCH better read. Sean's writing style is concise and very visual, making it easy to understand, enjoyable, and fun. The anecdotes and stories are universally applicable--despite racial, economic, etc. backgrounds (or even age!). He doesn't waste time getting to the point, taking a single paragraph to introduce a new concept, and then supporting it with two or three stories, anecdotes, or quotations; and yes, there are even pictures too! The end product is something that is VERY enjoyable, practicable, and has helpful. If you have ANY doubts about whether or not to read this book, I would say that if you are even looking into it enough to read this review, you and someone you know can greatly benefit from the ideas in this book. Of course self-change is scary and difficult, but this book makes it fun and easy. It's helped me to not only improve my own life, but also that of my younger brother, guiding me to be a better role model for him. When I first found this book I had made fun of it, but as soon as I had begun reading, I was hooked [or as the book would have me say, "I hooked myself..."] Thanks Sean (and Stephen) for your contribution(s)! [And thanks Mom, too...] : - )
A very interesting, and lifechanging book.......2001-04-24
I have personally read this book, and ( as a 13 year old), it has drasticly changed my life. There are passages in this book that told me things about myself I never knew. Like this " I'f who I am, is what I have, and what I have is lost, who am I ?" I no longer feal that money or impotance should matter in my life. I should live it accourding to my life, and not by the will of others.
A book for EVERY teen.......2001-02-23
Any teen can learn a lot from this book. It is approachable and understandable, but straight-forward. It is helpful and inspiring, and I would highly recommend it.

7 Habits Teens Audio.......2007-07-22
The original "7 Habits of Highly Effective People" by the author's Father, Steven is a great book with a great message. And I liked the audio version as well.
I thought this would be just as good, and I wanted to use it for a summer leadership program with a sophomore football team. Thought I might be able to just play the recordings, one chapter at a time at our meetings.
After listening to it, I decided against that. I felt no enthusiasm or intensity in Sean's voice or delivery. I did not think this would hold their attention (in a group setting) for more than 3 minutes.
I don't want to slam this entirely, it might be good if it is you and your teen in a one to one situation, but it didn't work for me.

Really nice book for teenagers (and their parents).......1999-10-20
If you liked this book, also try "The Healing Journey" series of self help journals by Phil Rich. The first two -- "The Healing Journey" and "The Healing Journey for Couples", are journaling books written to help people learn how to journal and what to journal about. The others in the series focus on specific life issues.
A Masterpiece!.......1999-10-10
The book showed the though challenges in a teenagers life and how to deal with competition, people, peer pressure, and more. Pages filled with cartoons, quotes, and pictures. Great for any teen that wants to be sucessful in life.

My Review of The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens.......2006-01-31
My Review of the 7Habits of Highly Effective Teens
The 7Habits book, I read, was kind boring but it mostly talks about problems teens are going through. It also says there are 7habits teens going through. Another thing it has in this book is that it has short stories. Another thing it also has is comic strips to make the book entertaining. So that is all I could remember that was in the book.
The Book wasn't really that interesting. I never really got what the book was trying to tell us. I also fell asleep sometimes because I got bored of reading it. And also never really bothered to read the end of the book. So to kill time in class I entertained myself.
For the first habit in the book I did not really understand it. So I read the first habit again just so I could understand it. For the second habit I sort of got it, after a while. And fro the third I hardly even got what it was saying. And for the fourth habit I sort of got that one too. So all in all the book I read would probably get a 3 out of 10.
My book review of the 7 habits.......2006-01-31
My book review of the 7 habits
The 7 habits book I read was O.K. It talked about what to do in a problem and how to solve a problem. It also talks about teens that had a similar problem and how they dealed with the problem. Then it talked about your health. It give tips of how you can take care of your heart and also about how you can watch your weight.
My opinion about the 7 habits book is that it is helpful. The book gives much detail about the problems the teens had. The book was kind of boring sometimes but was also exciting. The book gave some helpful tips about all the problems you might come across in the future.
The book was really fun the read. It was also very helpful. I enjoyed reading the 7 Habits Highly Effective teens. Some parts of the book had some humer and some parts had none at all, but was a good book to read.
My Review of The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens.......2006-01-31
Well, the book was kind of boring. I didn't like it because it always talked about what we should be doing if we weren't doing the stuff suggested, it felt like it was urging us to do the right way and it made me feel uneasy.
I wouldn't recommend this book to teens because I know that they wouldn't like it because it had to do with something about learning and they wouldn't like learning because they had to go to school, and I'm sure that they didn't like school and poems and literary terms like Diction, which is a word choice in a sentence and was in the book being an example the book was talking about, and Theme, which is a saying like " It's a Dog-eat-Dog world out there".
The only people I would recommend this book to is people who loved school and highly educated teachers so they would understand this book more than we understood it. I'm sure that they will like it and it's terms like Flashback, which is like seeing a clip of the past sometimes it helps people remember where they put their stuff or where they were at last or where they put something last that ended up lost, or Foreshadowing, which is taking a glimps of an event that is happening or is about to happen, and Diction, which is a word choice, and other stuff like that, and I am absolutely sure that they'll like it and know about it because I am going to put it all over the Internet at Amazon . com. Also the book used Diction to make me understand the words, that it used, better.
P.S This is soppesed to be three paragraphs.
Why teenz?.......2006-01-31
Why Teenz?
By: Lori Yazzie
This book "the seven habits of highly effective teens". Is about a gut trying to tell teens what they can do to make their life better. To tell them that drugs and alcohol is bad for you. Even how many teens die each year for drugs and alcohol. This book is written by a dude named Sean Covey.
I don't know why he wrote this book. I don't like this book. There is nothing to do with me. I mean I don't know cause I don't drink, I don't do smoke. This book should really be for kids with bad habits.
In this book he used a lot of dialogue (a conversation between two people). Like the bear story. The guy from the story says "I'm not running away from the bear, I'm running away from you". Then the other guy says "why". Well this book review from the story "the seven habits of highly effective teens".
Way of Life.......2006-01-31
The book has taught me how to live my life. I do, know now how to take care of myself. I use manners and treat others equally. I learn to respect my mind and myself. I have been foreshadowing lately about my life.
My family has seen changes in me. Flashbacks are a nightmare now and my life is a lot easier. I learn not to take my family for granted. My family and I get along great now that I've read this book. It is a lot easier to be happy anywhere anytime.
I also learn to exercise my mind. My idioms have now come out clearly. I read and learn more. I know now that my mind is precious and still growing and not to abuse it. My mind is my tool.
I recommend this book to you because it helps you understand your way of life.
This book helps me understand my life and how I should take care of it. It taught me how learn the right way. I guarantee this story will change your life forever. Grab yourself a chair and this book and read.

The 7 habits.......2006-01-31
The book review on 7 habits. Sean Covey wrote it. The good point in the book is that it gives advice to teens with problems. The bad point is that some of the advice is dumb. The book is all right to read though.
The book helps people with problems so it has to be good right. There are lots of little stories in the book too. The stories are about troubled teens. The teens that had problems solve it. If it was a bad thing the person will tell all the consequences.
The writer writes the book really good too. He wrights it as if he was a troubled person. He gets stories from troubled teens with problems. He gives some good advice to teens with problems. I recommend this book to anyone who wants to read it.
The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens.......2006-01-30
The Seven Habits of Highly Effective Teens
The Seven Habits Of Highly Effective teens is a book that talks about things that teens do. It talks about why teens do the things they do. It also gives advice for teens. It shows you ways how to solve problems. In the book I liked The part where it gave advice and opinions for teens. I did not like the some of the stories because some were not very interesting. I think other teens should read it because they might get some of the advice they need by reading the book.
