This book is great whether you have weight problems, diabetes, ulcers a child with ADD it will help. My whole family goes by the book and we have referred other family members now they love it also we have to keep getting more for poeple we meet and talk to about the book. One of the people that eats everything on her blood type is 94 years old and looks great!!

I found this book to be a very easy read. It gives very simple straight forward explanations and rationale for the diet and it's theories. It further reads like an instruction manual and very clearly explains what foods are beneficial, neutral, or an avoid. Pretty straight forward, if it's beneficial eat it, if it's an avoid, avoid it. And if it's a neutral it has little significance either way, so you can eat it but don't make it a diet staple.

I have followed the guidelines in this book loosely for 2 weeks and have lost over 8 pounds. Which is a 20% of the weight I want to lose by December. I am type O which is the best type to be on this diet because it allows for a larger range of foods. Type O's should definately try this diet, and its not hard to follow. The Other blood types should try this as well, but food options are more restricted. So if you have a hard time avoiding certain foods this may not be for you.

I have found it to be the most moving and inlighting book I have read.
Having Diabetes I was not happy with my body, I did not like shots.
Now all I do is watch what I eat and when NO shots or Pills just diet.
I feal better then I ever have and my Doctor is amazed.

THIS WAS A VERY EDUCATIONAL BOOK. IT WAS RECOMMENDED BY MY DOCTOR. I THINK THAT THE LEVEL OF DIFFICULTY OF THE BOOK IS GREATER THAN MANY PEOPLE WOULD ENJOY. IT REQUIRES MORE THAN A SINGLE READING TO UNDERSTAND THE CONCEPTS. IT ALSO RECOMMENDS A LOT OF HERBAL REMEDIES OF VARIOUS CONDITIONS WHICH COULD BE A LITTLE COST PROHIBITIVE. THE DIET GUIDE WAS SIMPLE AND EASY TO FOLLOW BUT REQUIRED THAT YOU HAVE A GOOD GRASP OF THE BOOK'S CONCEPTS IN ORDER TO UNDERSTAND WHY TO EXCLUDE FOODS FROM YOUR DIET. I ENJOYED THE BOOK AND WILL REREAD MUCH OF IT. I AM ALSO FOLLOWING MANY OF ITS GUIDELINES FOR EATING FOR MY BLOOD TYPE.

This is probably the 10th copy of this book I have purchased. It can dramatically change the way someone feels.
I have told so many people about the book. I just hand it out now to all the Blood Type A's that I know.

I would highly suggest all other books related to Blood Type Eating. You will be amazed at how different your body feels when given the correct foods.
Mental clarity is the best side effect.I suffer from Ulcerative Colitis and have benefitted greatly by using this book in conjunction with a Nutritionist. I am after 5 years totally free of prescription medicine. Any one who has the disease knows that the treatment not only includes immune suppressant drugs but also steroids.
I also have a sister-in-law who after 5 miscarriages has finally been able to successfully carry her child that will be do in 2 months. She believes it all has to do with eating for your blood type.

I hope that anyone who suffers from illness of anykind at least give this book a shot, what do you have to lose except maybe feeling FANTASTIC everyday.

This is an excellent source if you are new to eating right for your blood type. Handy food charts identify which foods are beneficial, neutral or bad for your body. Also, there are suggested 30 day menus plans as well as suggestions about exercise plans for each blood type. Advice is practical such as fresh veggies are best but if cannot buy fresh, buy frozen and not canned...recipes are simple and turn out delicious...they range from meats to pasta/pizza, soups, salads, dressings/sauces,frittatas, to snacks, treats and munchies. If you have bought Dr. D'Adamo's book "Eat Right For Your Type", this companion book, "Cook Right For Your Type" is a must.

I am really enjoying this book, its helpful because not everyone in my family has the same blood type. This book is easy to use. My only grip about it is that sometimes on the thirty day meal plans, the recipes are not listed in the book. I also do not like the fact that on the meal plans they do not have the page numbers on where to find the recipes. Other than that I really enjoy the eating right for you type books and highly recommend them to everyone.

This cookbook gives a lot of ideas for cooking by blood type. I have not read the original book but if i had to choose between the two, this book gives plenty of tools to get started.

We have found it quite easy to acclimate to the original Blood Type diet regime. We found alternatives to what we had been eating and feeling better is a great incentive to keep it up. BUT - this book changed so much of what we thought was 'okay'. It was like having a completely new set of rules.
If you are a Blood Type O - give up all that is sugar, including honey. The only way to get anything sweet, and stay on the diet, is fruit. What was 'okay' on the regular 'O' diet are now off limits.
We will continue to eat sensibly and increase/alter our supplement intake, but that is it for now.

    While a lot of the material in this book is necessarily duplicated from other books published by D'Adamo in case the reader starts with this book, the real medical assistance offered has been very helpful to me - teaching me to manage my allergies proactively!

    I cannot believe what a difference this book has made in my life. I did not realize how tired I was until I began following the guidance of this book in avoiding certain foods and including others in my diet. Within a week I was feeling better. I had no idea how tired and sluggish I had been--I have so much more energy now, particularly in the evenings when I was usually tired after coming home from work. I highly recommend that you try this book. It's easy to read and well worth the time and money.

    This is an EXCELLENT book! I have had type 1 diabetes for over 25 years
    (no complications) and I follow the Blood Type O Program. I have been
    following this for many years but now I have Dr. Peter D'Adamo
    backing me up. I highly recommend this book for everyone.

    As someone who's done the fad dieting thing & failed, it's nice to find something that recognizes the different physical needs & make-up of each person. I highly recommend The Blood Type Diet for anyone who wants to get off the merry-go-round.

    My family has a history of type 2 diabetes, so I wanted to know how to avoid becoming a diabetic. This book in addition to the other books especially Live Right 4 Your Type have been excellent resources to help me understand my genetic hertitage. I am an O blood type, secretor. I am amazed at how much more energetic and powerful I feel now that I have been utilizing the diet for a year now. I rarely feel fatigued now. I have increased muscle mass. Best of all, now that I have eliminated wheat products, dairy and corn from my diet, I do not have anymore cramping/pain in my colon.

    I know that avoiding the 'avoid foods' is difficult. It was for me too; I had been eating a goblet of ice cream every night before going to bed and I loved OREO cookies. As we get older (I'm 40 now) however we need to leave such childish eating behavior behind us if we want to be healthy and this book is the best resource I have read to date. If you are overweight and/or diabetic and you want take eating action to solve your health condition this book is a start. I also would highly recomend working with a doctor who is IjHI (Institute for Human Individuality) Certified. These doctors specialize in treating diabetes and other preventable health conditions with this diet. These doctors are not cheap but worth every penny if you value your health. Doctors not certified are simply unaware of treatments that can solve someones diabetic condition, so they prescribe what they know short term solutions (drugs).

    I love being in control of my health, my kids do too. It's not easy or cheap, but it's worth it. If you solve the problem, you live life with joy; If treat the symptoms only, you live life with agony.

    5 out of 5 stars How to Take Control of Your Health/Eat For Your Blood Type.......2004-05-21

    I found this book to be most informative and helpful in the successful management of elevated blood sugar levels, triglycerides and body fat. This book allowed me to eliminate foods from my diet that are triggers for insuline production for my blood type, and allowed me to take control of my diet. This book very matter of factly lists foods that are beneficial to your blood type and those that are harmful. Each food group is broken down into five categories, from "very beneficial" to "avoid" for literally hundreds of foods. As I began to eliminate foods that are in the avoid column, I immediately noticed a difference in my energy level, and overall well being. It was a dramatic change for me, and the side benefit is the loss of eleven pounds in three weeks, better sleep patterns, loss of cravings, and an overall feeling of renewed health.

    I recommend this book to anyone that has been diagnosed with early stages of Type 2 Diabetes, or is pre-diabetic. Following the recommendations in this book will help you to take control of you health, and create lifestyle changes that will benefit you long into the future.

    This one was surprisingly the least informative.
    I found it similar to the others, without clear foundation and thought.

    I'm loving 'eating my colors'. I'm red as can be and all my favorite foods are what I get to eat. I noticed a difference after the first week, more energy, better sleep, and I even lost 4 pounds without using any diet pills.

    I am an experienced pediatrician with an interest in nutrition. This is one of the best books on the subject that I have ever read. I give it a five star rating. It includes an up to date summary of current nutrition research, much of which can be confusing. Fortunately, she is able to sort out and clarify much of the confusion. The author includes some great tables that I plan to use as a reference. For example, she has an informative table about the different kinds of rice, which turns out to be a very healthy grain. What I really liked was her fresh approach to the subject. Many nutrition books can be boring-this one is well written and interesting. I kept saying to myself, "How does she know so much about me and my habits?" There are very few foods that I don't like, but somehow she knew which ones and why. (hint: I discovered I was a "red" body type and they have many common characteristics). Complete the body type questionnaire for some fresh insights into your life and you'll see what I mean. In addition, I discovered some totally unexpected gems. For example, she has the best description of the causes of excess intestinal gas that I've ever read. She has great information about antioxidants, soy foods, cancer prevention and heart disease prevention including many useful tables. After reading this book I came away with a fresh approach to shopping, storing food, and eating. In addition, Marcia Zimmerman opened my mind to learning more about Ayurvedic medicine. She was able to relate a 5000 year old approach to medicine to the 21st century. When an author can not only teach me new information about diet and health, but also open my mind to new possibilities, she's pulled off quite a feat. I plan to recommend this book to my friends, patients and medical colleagues. It is a welcome addition to my personal library. I suggest you buy Eat Your Colors, read it, and see if you will also be motivated to change your diet-I certainly was.

    Not the depth of some of Dr. DaDamo's major books but very adequate for someone with Arthritis. From here, someone, if interested, can dig deeper if they feel their arthritis was helped.
