More of a question v. a review.......2007-09-18
Guys I wanted to ask is there any major differences between the 5th and 4th editions I noticed in the index they added in one more chapter on Discovery in the 5th edition but the rest of the 4th looks identical to the 5th edition. Any one have personal experience with this please let me know, you can reply back in another review here on Amazon. Thanks guys/gals!!
Helped me understand Civ Pro throughout the year.......2007-06-27
If you have a limited budget (and what student doesn't), this book is well worth the money. It clears the fog surrounding so much of Civil Procedure, and my professor even recommended it as a course supplement. I found it was helpful to read this at the beginning of a new subject in class, and it made the readings go faster. It is not an outline, and it isn't a book that's terribly useful two days before the final unless you want to read a few examples on a topic you're feeling shaky about. You have to use it throughout the semester to really get the most out of it, and it's easier to read in smaller chunks anyway. The rest of the books in this series are good, but this one was by far the best of the group, and if you can only buy one supplement your first year, buy this one.
Professor-recommended study aid.......2007-05-24
This is an excellent exam aid for the student who has already put in at least some of the work of studying during the semester but wants to sharpen up in preparation for finals. It is not a quick-and-ready, black letter law outline. It provides thoughtful, accessible analysis of the significant areas of civpro and then provides excellent short essay questions and answers.
This book is best at helping you practice the analysis necessary for perfoming well on essay exams. It is the only study aid my civpro professor recommends, and it helped me secure A's both semesters.
Civil Procedure.......2007-03-24
I didn't find it helpful. The information in the book wasn't what I expected it to be from it's description.
A Civ Pro Staple.......2007-01-14
A must have for any 1L. This book is a staple in the book library of any first-year law student taking civil procedure. It explains everything at an easily understandable level w/ examples and explanations to go along with it.

A great help!.......2007-09-14
A really great book, it finally brought some clarity to evidence. But be prepared to spend some time reading this book, as it has fairly in-depth coverage. Even so, I found it a very valuable study tool.
great book.......2007-09-03
This book is very helpful, especially because my professor recommended it. The explanations are clear and useful.
Eeeeeeeeeeehhhh, not so great.......2007-05-26
Don't waste your money on this book. You're better off reading the advisory committee notes in the FRE rulebook than this thing. It's cursory and the illustrations are ridiculous. Stick to the Finals books; they're more helpful for Evidence, I think.
VERY helpful for exam.......2007-04-28
You can't learn the entire course from this book, but it defintely helped me make sense of my notes and prepare for the final.
Barely OK.......2007-03-31
I am a big E&E fan and I would give 4 or 5 stars to most books in the series, but I'm not going to give this one more than 2 stars. The introductory text that precedes the examples is way too long. The chapter on examination of witnesses has 24 pages of text before giving a single example!!! Compare to most other E&E books, which have no more than 2-10 pages of introductory text before getting into the examples. Also, I am no law professor, but I found the presentation of topics a little confusing. The explanation of the hearsay rule is very different from the one that my prof gave in class (and the prof actually drafted some of the federal rules of evidence - I am assuming he is the one who's got it right!!). Finally most examples are really easy and not that useful except as a quick review. The best thing about this book is that it's pretty short and can be used to get an idea of the subject before moving on to a more complete study aid or casebook.
I have the 5th edition of the book - I hope the 6th (which I believe is just out) is better.

Good Doctrinal Overview.......2007-01-11
This book was extremely helpful and accessible for illustrating general doctrine; however, although it discusses a smattering of major cases (e.g., Palsgraf) and other minor cases that may or may not appear in your torts textbook, it does not provide substantial depth for these cases and does not address important dissents (such as Andrews' dissent in Palsgraf), so you shouldn't attempt to rely on it for that purpose. You could easily get through torts without this book, but given the nature of law school curves, why not give yourself every advantage?
The best of the E&E series.......2007-01-11
Torts and Property are the top two E&E books in terms of how helpful they are in covering complex topics for the 1st year law student. This book's layout matches almost perfectly with most torts courses, and the essay exam practices were the most helpful for my finals. Probably the best of the E&E series.
My Verdict.......2007-01-10
Found this very helpful in reviewing the course before my Torts exam, recommend strongly...
Helpful book.......2007-01-04
I bought this book in addition to other E & E books for other classes. You can definitely get by without the book, not because the book isn't helpful, since the subject matter itself is relatively easy compared to other classes. It was helpful just as a general overview of the subject and in writing outlines.
Good book to understand concepts & prepare for torts exam.......2006-12-22
Read this book as you progress along in the course...makes Torts concepts easier to comprehend.
Book Description
This book is case law on criminal procedure. The book has problems and outlines of every section. It is a very easy book to read and helps with the understanding of civil procedure. Good for first year law students.

Most Confusing Casebook that I used as a 1L.......2007-07-30
Yeazell's casebook gets off to a good start with a very well written intro, but after that it is obvious that the first chapter was the only chapter in the book that Yeazell put any effort into. As other reviewers have stated the cases have been edited quite poorly, the Erie doctrine section confuses, more than it helps and the overall flow of the textbook is poor.
I ended up buying the Hornbook by West and that easily became the text that I used (along with the Fed Rules book) to understand Civ Pro.
I fell sorry for you if you have to use this book.
Sorry.......2007-05-17
I feel sorry for you if you have to use this textbook. It was easily the worst textbook of my 1L year. Very little discussion is provided of the cases or the concepts in some instances, where a lot is written about things that are much less important. The notes at the end of the cases mixes important information you should know with often confusing problems and questions. Its these problems also alternate between hypos that use the same facts as the case you just read and hypos that have completely different fact patterns.
A Necessary Evil.......2001-08-14
When you first pick up the book, you feel exhilirated that you, too will be learning all about Civil Procedure. The case in the introduction is fun, but it is all down hill from there. The cases are important cases, but the editing took out parts of the opinions that should be there so you can understand the rest of the opinion (I could mention Erie, but nobody understands that on a good day either...). It is a necessary evil that we mut struggle through in our attempts at world domination...I mean our attempts to become lawyers...

Newer edition available.......2006-07-31
A newer edition of this book is available. The 5th ed. is ISBN 0735556660. Published 04/13/2006.
Great study aid!.......2006-04-29
A agree with the previous comment, this book does have a strong MBCA focus but it does frequently reference Delaware law as well as occasionally some other states. This is an excellent study aid, I used to prepare for my corporations exam, but I wish I had been more diligent about reading it throughout the year as we were studying various subjects, no doubt my class would have made much more sense. Corporations has thus far been the most difficult law school course I"ve taken (partly due to my prof.) and this book was a life-saver. My only advice is not to wait to the last minute. Yes this book is a great summary of the course, but it's still very dense and nearly 700 pages long. It will take a good while to go through if you're really reading, outlining and trying to learn the material. I spent nearly all day for three full days just getting through this book. It was well worth the effort, but if I had to do it all over again, I would have kept up with the book during the course or started prepping a few weeks prior.
Solid Book, but with MBCA Focus.......2005-12-01
I write mainly to note that the book focuses almost exclusively on the Model Business Corporation Act, with only occasional references to Deleware or other state law. If your course has a similar focus, then this is a solid book that progresses well and lets you test you knowledge along the way. But if your class, like mine, focuses mainly on Deleware law, this book will prove significantly less useful. The book will often state something generic like, Some states allow X and others do not. But it rarely specifies which states have adopted which approach.
An excellent synopsis of Corporations law.......2000-06-28
I highly recommend this book. Solomon and Palmiter, following in the tradition of Glannon's Civil Procedure, make corporations law accessible.
Book Description
This highly regarded text earned its popularity by helping students build their confidence while they develop their skills. Beginning with the simple residential closing, "Real Estate: Examples & Explanations, Fourth Edition" leads students through progressively more complex transactions to reach a solid understanding of the subject.

no text book required.......2007-05-26
Use this book, and you won't need to open the text book. I got an A!
worst examples and explanations book I have used to date.......2006-12-09
This was the one and only book required for my Real Estate Transactions course so I have nothing else to compare it to. Nevertheless, I have used plenty other Examples and Explanations books, and have always been pleased. However, this book is the worst one I have encountered. The style of writing is confusing. It is poorly organized. Quite simply, avoid it at all costs.
Examples and Explainations: Real Estate: Review.......1999-12-31
As a law student, I have often sought books which are willing to explain difficult material in the clearest terms possible. With most textbooks there is no hope. However, this Real Estate Examples and Explainations book was fantastic. It is written clearly and yet deals with some of the most complex material in real estate law. For persons seeking a grasp of the fundamentals of real estate law and finance, this book is of infinite value. For others seeking a more detailed analysis of complex real estate issues, this is a good starting off point. I would highly recommend this text.

thankgoodness!.......2007-05-06
Looking up the statutes was helpful & it is important to read through the explanations of all the answers to understand a particular statute or statutes. I found the analysis in the hypotheticals very helpful since his answers are exactly how our professor wanted them to be - "open ended". And yes, I did well!
Below Standard.......2007-03-03
I love the Examples and Explanations series. The book on Civ Pro was perfect. The Contracts book was very good. This book disappoints because it doesn't provide explanations.
This edition refers students in almost every paragraph to look up a portion of the UCC or refer to a statute or case. Instead of explaining Sales and Leases, this editions tells us on every page to look at a provision of the UCC and discover the truth for ourselves. It might be fine as a supplement to online law school, but given the huge amounts of text law students have to read, it is almost useless as a concise explanation of the subject.
Helpful Supplement.......2007-01-22
This book saved me in my Sales class and helped me grasp the UCC. I had no idea what was going on until I cracked this book the weekend before the midterm. I took this class as a first semester 1L with most students as 3L's who had taken Commercial Paper. I got the second highest grade in the class! Most of the analysis is based on unamended Art. 2, so if your professor teaches on Revised Art. 2, then you'll need another supplement.
Not Great.......2006-12-09
This is a really poor E and E. I find most of E and Es really helpful, but I'm no better off owning this one than I was without it. The brief explanations of the topics at the beginning of each chapter do not suffice. Furthermore the questions are fairly straightforward and extremely leading, but this can be a problem with most E and E's. If you are buying this just to get the hypos then by all means go right ahead, but do not think that you are going to learn sales from reading this book. You'd be better served spending your time on your Course Outline.
Not very useful.......2006-09-18
I'm not interested in reading this book from cover to cover, but there isn't any other way to get information out of it.
1 - The table of contents doesn't list the chapter subsections, making it hard to figure out what chapter contains the information I want.
2 - No table of cases! Every law reference book should have one - there's no excuse for it being missing.
3 - Pathetic index - only 2 pages long. I almost never found what I was looking for.
If you are interested in reading the entire book front to back, it might be useful. If you want to read a bit at a time to supplement your casebook as you go through the semester, you will be frustrated.
