Book Description
From Stephen R. Covey's eldest son comes a revolutionary new path towards productivity and satisfaction. Trust, says Stephen M.R. Covey, is the very basis of the new global economy, and he shows how trustand the speed at which it is established with clients, employees and constituentsis the essential ingredient for any high-performance, successful organization.
For business leaders and public figures in any arena, The Speed of Trust offers an unprecedented and eminently practical look at exactly how trust functions in our every transaction and relationshipfrom the most personal to the broadest, most indirect interactionand how to establish trust immediately so that you and your organization can forego the time-killing, bureaucratic check-and-balance processes so often deployed in lieu of actual trust.

For leadership training, this is the pinnacle.......2007-10-20
Having read many leadership related books and been trained in many seminars, nothing compares with the guiding principles in this book.
This book should change the way you think about how you lead and who you lead. It not just inspires, it changes you to be a trusted leader. The result? You change for good the world around you!
The negative will say this is idealistic, but in reality it is possible with those that commit to the importance of these guiding principles.
The bottom line is that most organizations are disfunctional because of low trust cultures. However, you can be the one penetrating these cultures strong trusting leadership.
The question is: can you arise to the challenge of being a true leader?
This book defined my leadership roadmap for the remainder of my career.
Instant Classic - Top Shelf.......2007-10-08
Within minutes of reading this book I knew it was going to be great. The book explains how trust is the driving force behind all efficient, successful businesses. Covey gets into different types of trust and some self assessments to determine what areas the reader is strong or weak in. The book can be applied to business, community and family. Without a doubt it goes on the short list of powerful, life-changing books!
All hype, no protein.......2007-09-19
Lots of anecdotes about the author's years in the business world. The author testifies that trust is great and makes things work. Little of substance in this book.
Trust is Fundamental in Relational Management.......2007-08-24
Trust may be the missing ingredient for the relational management model to succeed, but Trust (confidence + credibility) is an outcome, not an input. To get a Trust outcome requires the right inputs and in this book, the next generation's spokesperson for the Covey dynasty, Stephen M. R. Covey, tells us what trust means as well as provides plenty of examples of how important trust is when it comes to delivering business performance.
M.R. uses the "ripple effect" metaphor with Self at the center and waves rippling from the inside out to describe the "5 Waves of Trust." Using this metaphor, the first trust wave is Self-Trust (credibility driven), then comes the Relationship-Trust (consistent behavior driven) wave, an Organizational-Trust (alignment driven) wave, a Market-Trust (reputation driven) wave, and finally a Societal-Trust (giving back or contribution driven) wave.
Staying with the emphasis on managing `Self' first, Covey then provides the substance of the Self-Trust wave; the 4 cores of Credibility - integrity, intent, capability, and results. For the Relationship-Trust wave he identifies 13 critical behaviors. With the remaining trust waves, the dialogue continues the book's main theme - understanding the cost of mistrust and the value of trust - as it discusses organizational alignment, market reputation, and societal contribution. As M.R. says, "the dividends of trust can significantly enhance the quality of every relationship on every level of your life". If you doubt that, read this book.
The Ultimate Trust Model.......2007-08-23

A Matter of Trust
By: Anne Shraff
Review By: Victoria M.C.C.
A matter of Trust is a compelling book about love, violence, and family. The main character, Darcy, is 17 and deals with problems like a lot of other teenagers. She has a boyfriend named Hakeem, and he gets criticized because of his speech problem. It hurts Darcy, but she's a good friend so she tried to deal with it.
An old friend of hers, Brisana, has jealousy on the brain. At first she talks about Hakeem and makes fun of him like everyone else. Then, she starts coming on to him and tries to separate Darcy and Hakeem. The tension between these girls is at a very high point. You just want to keep turning the pages to see what happens next.
In the book it also talks about Darcy's relationship with her father. Sometime in the past her parents separated. It hurt her and she never really got over it. Her dad came back and all of a sudden wanted a relationship with his family again. Darcy doesn't quite take it to well. Her little sister on the other hand, is very excited about spending time with her dad again.
I know a lot of people who go through parents getting divorced, or splitting up, and it gets to you. I think this book can connect to people's issues and problems. This story may be fiction, but the events and problems could really happen.
I like to read books that relate to me. That's why I enjoy this story so much. She's a teenage girl, with a boyfriend, parents who have been fighting, and a couple best friends. Don't you just wonder what happens to Darcy's parents? Possibly if Brisana and Darcy ever makeup, and be friends again? Maybe if she and Hakeem finally confess their feelings for each other? The only way to find out is when you pick up and read A Matter of Trust.
Just A matter of trust- Kaylee Johnson 5 eng........2007-06-01
In the book just a matter of trust is about a girl that, got to a high school and has a great boy friend but has not so normal home life. Her dad walked out on her and her mother and little sister(really sad), now she cant tack him back but her sister is having no problem doing that. Her boy friend is extreamly talented but is to scared to go up on the stage or for that matter he is not even able to up to the front of the class and he studers alot. But she finnaly lets her dad back in her life, after have a nice dinner with him and a really nice place. but in the end it is so good well i guess that it would probley be a bad thing for me to tell you what happens in the end of the book. So you better get sdtarted reading that book.
A Matter of Trust.......2007-04-12
Wouldn't you like a book you can read and relate to, that helps you realize that people are just like you? Then you should go to your nearest library and pick up A Matter of Trust by Anne Schraff.
This book revolves around how junior high and high school kids feel. It in some ways helped me feel comfortable about things because I am not the only one who had problems. In the story the main character Darcy is having a problem with her boyfriend and ex-best friend. I can really relate to this and many people can. Darcy is just trying to find a way to keep her relationship together while still not having problems with people including her ex-best friend.
Another, reason why this book is so good is because its story line is great! In the story the author shows how people really talk and she uses slag terms. It's great because it gives the readers/reader an idea of the characters attitude and personality. Some books I've read are very boring because the people in the stories have no personality what so ever. It makes it exciting in A Matter of Trust because you know what people have good and bad attitudes without the author coming right out and saying. For example the author wouldn't say, "Brisana is ghetto" instead the author might have her saying something like, "Whateva no one wants to talk to you!". That is a lot more exciting then Brisana is ghetto.
Also, this book is part of a series so the author has written a lot already. She has about 50 other books rather then this one. A Matter of Trust is the second book in this series. The first book is called Lost and Found. There are eight other books in the series rather than them two. The book has 125 pages and is fiction like most of this authors other books. I am planning on reading all of them because this book is so good!
Of course, I loved this book and I would recommend it for mostly girls around junior high and high school. I wouldn't recommend it for boys because it's mostly about females problems in life. A lot of people I know have already read this book and it would be great if you read it too!

A Matter of Trust By: Anne Schraff
The book is mainly about trust. The author's purpose of writing the story is mainly to say to trust people even if you do not want to. The main characters in novel are Brisana Meeks, Darcy Wills, and Hakeem Randall. Darcy and Hakeem are dating and they think that trust is big factor in a relationship. Brisana Meeks is a trouble maker who loves to make people angry. My favorite character is Darcy because she learned to put her trust in people and let them learn to trust her. She also learned to forgive and forget all the hurtful things people have done to her. You can learn to relate to other people through the things they have been through. I would recommend this book to people who like to read romantic, suspenseful, and comedy books. I would also recommend this book to both male and female teenagers who like to read.

Character Inside before Power Accumulates Outside: That's How Leaders Evolve.......2007-05-11
I found this book fascinating as the authors focus on the internal world of leaders who are trustworthy, and the nurture of a character that others will want to follow. My favorite quotes:
--To be teachable, one must devote a significant amount of time to learning.
--Leaders are defined buy those who follow them.
--A successful mentoring experience does require a significant prerequisite: a quality person to mentor.
--The mentoring or coaching role is mainly about creating a safe environment to discuss any topic.
--Trustworthiness means being reliable, faithful, and unfailing. Trustworthy leaders are honest and transparent, committed, dedicated, and keep promises and confidences. They also have the moral courage to do the right thing and to stand up for what they believe even when it is difficult to do so.
--In practical, day-to-day leadership, only what is accomplished matters.
--Compared to high-profile leaders with big personalities who make headlines and become celebrities, the good-to-great leaders [leaders who have taken companies to unprecedented long-term growth] seem to have come from Mars. Self-effacing, quiet, reserved, even shy--these leaders are a paradoxical blend of personal humility and professional will. They are more like Lincoln and Socrates than Patton or Caesar.
For aspiring leaders, this book will help you clarify the character traits needed inside before the power accumulates outside.
SPIRITUAL VALUES & LEADERSHIP.......2005-05-20
Presents a style of leadership based on 8 values: humility; development; commitment; focus; compassion; integrity; peacemaking; and endurance. The authors explore how these spiritual values are keys to building trust with people and becoming a successful leader, as well as building a successful career. This book has its distinct point of view-no question about it. But given the abundance of bad leadership in business, politics, and other spheres, the spiritual qualities this book links with effective leadership deserve serious consideration.
Changed my Life.......2005-05-18
The "how to" leadership books are spilling off the shelves, so I thought that "Trust Me" to be another ineffective book on this subject. However, as I began to read I couldn't put the book down. I read it through in 2 days. I've then re-read it 2 times. It is GREAT!
Ron Potter and Wayne Hastings have managed to peel away to the true core of leadership.
From insight about the greatest leader of all time to colorful stories about other leaders, it's a riveting book.
This book has personally changed my life and my leadership style. I have incorporated the principles from the book and have created personal goals in an attempt to be a better leader.
If you lead people...either a business executive, production line worker, a team player or a parent, "Trust Me' is essential reading.
Great Book for all Leaders.......2004-04-10
Trust Me is one of those rare books that provides timeless insights with personal insights and help for all of us. Hastings and Potter take the reader on a leadership journey and challenge us at the end of each chapter with thought-provoking questions and personal growth suggestions. I literally could not put this book down! It has helped me and my team to understand how we can be successful leaders. This is a must read for any person wanting to improve their leadership skills.
Trust Me - Keys to building trust in people.......2004-04-06
Wayne Hastings and Ron Potter have written an inspirational book that provides the key principles we all need to guide us in our personal and business lives. It is a book to be kept close at hand to keep our thinking and actions on the path of a principle based life. The real life stories and the opportunity provided to reflect after each chapter with thought provoking questions about ourselves and how we interact with others helps teach us how to be leaders others can trust.

Book Description
Confidence in American government has been declining for three decades. Three-quarters of Americans said they trusted the Federal government to do the right thing in 1964. Today, only a quarter do. Why the decline? Is this mistrust a healthy reflection of America's long-lasting skepticism of a strong state? Is mistrust a problem for the future of governance?
Bringing together essays by leading Harvard scholars, this book explores the roots of mistrust. It first examines government's current scope, its actual performance, and citizens' perceptions of its performance. It then assesses many possible explanations that have been offered for the decline of trust, including the end of the Cold War, elevated expectations following World War II, a weakened economy, the effects of globalization, resentment over political scandals, and incompetence of bureaucrats. The book clarifies thinking about the sources of public disaffection.
Mistrust, the contributors find, is largely unrelated to national economic conditions, to challenges of a global economy, to the Cold War, or to bumbling bureaucrats and venal politicians. Rather, they show that the most likely culprits are all around us--an interacting blend of cultural and political conflicts stirred by an increasingly corrosive news media.

Customer Reviews:
Good, but politically correct........2003-09-23
Even the most orthodox of post-colonial, politically-correct revisionists have to admit that ALL of what San Francisco is today is because of the United States and its values. San Francisco, for all intents and purposes, didn't exist before 1846, so why does the author still feel it necessary to bore the reader with blather about the United States "stealing" California from Mexico or referring to the "so-called conquest"? Writing about San Francisco as if it somehow "belonged" to any nation other than the United States is just plain stupid. So I wish the author had spared us the politically-correct drivel about the noble Californios and Mexicans and (even!) Spanish. It's as if he says, "The United States sucks for doing what it did in California. Now let me tell you about the magnificent city it built." That said, the history section (the first half of the book) is better than the generally incomplete architectural survey. San Francisco is so crammed with good stuff that a complete architectural survey is a tall order, so it's forgivable. The most obvious omissions are the newer sections of Pacific Heights and Richmond. Incidentally, these are the places built most recently with new wealth, which is as good as non-existent to those inclined toward political correctness.
Attention San Francisco AIA, Publish a guide........2002-05-01
My third day in San Francisco, I left the National Trust Guide to San Francisco in my room. It is not the architectural guide book I expected it to be. Dry and talky, the book is long on background and short on facts about individual buildings. Dozens of intriguing buildings are omitted and there is almost nothing about engineering. Peter Wiley's book may be a decent introduction to the city, but reading it did not heighten my anticipation before flying west, or strengthen my appreciation after arriving.
The weaknesses of this guide stand in contrast to the strengths of the AIA guides to major cities. These architect-written guides are exhaustive. The Boston, Chicago and New York books in particular make excellent travel guides as well as desk references. They mix building descriptions with history, and delightful nuggets of information that deepen your appreciation of the place and its builders. There's nothing dry about these books. When it comes to criticism, the editors can be delightfully bitchy.
Between politics and earthquakes, San Francisco is not an easy place to build. But SF AIA members, please find the time to draft a guide your craft and your city deserve. One that is worth schlepping up and down the hills.
Makes the history of San Francisco come alive.......2001-02-26
This thorough history of San Francisco combined with several walking tours makes the past palpable to those here today. His vivid descriptions of San Francisco from the frontier days to the present significantly illuminate the many walking tours through the city. I have recommended the book to others curious about why this city has its unique look and feel.
Wiley Knows This City!.......2000-09-23
Peter Wiley takes the reader on a great tour of San Francisco. A perfect gift for a friends who's visiting or those of us who live here in San Francisco. I found a number of hidden treasures that I honestly didn't know about before reading this book.
Book Description
For the 70 percent of couples who have been affected by extramarital affairs, this is the only book to offer proven strategies for surviving the crisis and rebuilding the relationship written by a nationally known therapist considered an expert on infidelity.
When I was 15, I was raped. That was nothing compared to your affair. The rapist was a stranger; you, I thought, were my best friend.
There is nothing quite like the pain and shock caused when a partner has been unfaithful. The hurt partner often experiences a profound loss of self-respect and falls into a depression that can last for years. For the relationship, infidelity is often a death blow.
After the Affair is the first book to help readers survive this crisis. Written by a clinical psychologist who has been treating distressed couples for 22 years, it guides both hurt and unfaithful partners through the three stages of healing: Normalizing feelings, deciding whether to recommit and revitalizing the relationship. It provides proven, practical advice to help the couple change their behavior toward each other, cultivate trust and forgiveness and build a healthier, more conscious intimate partnership.

After The Affair.......2007-09-26
My son-in-law absolutely loved the book. Hasn't stopped talking about how it helped him deal with various issues.
From the HURT party.......2007-09-06
This book was very painful to read as the "hurt" party. It makes you revisit very painful experiences and feelings, which I had dealt with already. The unfaithful party would rate it 5.
Saved my sanity and hopefully my marriage.......2007-07-20
I felt so lost and out of control, I didn't know where to turn - so immediately searched for a book on the subject of infidelity. I was at first hesitant after reading a review claiming the author places blame for the affair on the betrayed spouse -BUT - After reading this book as a betrayed spouse, I believe this is NOT the case.
What she DOES do is address both the wayward spouse and the betrayed spouse equally when taking an honest and often hard look at the relationship before the Affair took place - where there was breakdown in the marriage that may have lead up to the affair. She does clearly state that the wayward spouse IS responsible for their actions and the affair - after all, no one can FORCE someone to CHEAT.
But thankfully, this books delves far beyond finger pointing, and looks for a way to bring partners back toward one another, by dealing with issues in the marriage rather than sweeping them under the carpet. It does this in a supportive, non-judgmental way, that both sides can feel comfortable pursuing. And she gives us simple yet important exercises to do, and action plans to follow, to help us get there. It's a book to be devoured in one sitting, and then read and reread countless times as needed through the different stages of grieving and healing. This book is a true marriage saver - at least, it is for us, and I hope it can be for you, too.
Let me put it as simply as I can:
I (Betrayed Wife) couldn't put this book down, I was so thirsty for understanding - and cried tears of relief when I felt validated in both my feelings and reactions surrounding the discovery of the infidelity.
My husband (Wayward Husband) skimmed through the book with great interest, then went straight to the closest bookstore and bought his own copy. We both now are in our second readings, all the while making lots of notes in the margins, and doing the simple exercises that pop up from time to time. It has helped us to each understand what the other spouse is going through and may be thinking, and has helped us find a way to relate to one another productively.
We have come a long way in two short weeks, and although I know we still have a long way to go, I don't think we would have made it this far (and remained best friends, as we are) without the help in this book.
In fact, the end chapters on Forgiveness are so good, we've also purchased 'How Can I Forgive You' by the same author, to delve even deeper into the moving forward stage of healing and forgiving.
I would recommend these books immediately to any woman I love - and to any couple or man I care deeply about, too - if they found themselves facing infidelity.
For anyone out there hurting this much right now, I feel your pain, confusion and shock - and want you to know you aren't alone. Get this book and you'll see what I mean - you won't be sorry you did.
Excellent Resource for Surviving and Growing after Infidelity.......2007-05-23
After the Affair is a comprehensive and insightful manual that has provided extraordinary help in my life and Im sure will help millions. It helped me to get through the crisis and shock after finding out that my partner was having an affair. It explained the "normal" feelings and helped me to gain insight into what i was going through. After an affair there are of course choices you have. You can stay with your partner and make a committment to working on the relationship or you can move on to the new adventure that awaits you. This time in your life can be truly transformative. This book offers practical information on rebuilding trust if you choose that path. Personally I got a lot out of the book but I chose to move on with my life. The answer lies within your heart. You just need to listen closely. Highly recommended reading for anyone dealing with this challenging situation.
Not my favorite.......2007-05-13
I was not impressed by the advice in this book.I think no two affairs are the same, neither are all waywards or all betrayed spouses. Her approach seemed to be very one size fits all.Maybe it will help some people but it doesn't help all.The old adage of bad marriage=affair needs to be looked at again.Sometimes there are seriously messed up people that have affairs and fixing the 'broken marriage' will NOT fix them.

Should I Really Have Trusted An American?.......2006-01-07
A great book about ten year old Josefina traveling to Santa Fe. As Josefina Plays her wooden bird flute on top of the mountain she hears a copy of her flute sound. It was American Scout Patrick O'Toole. As Josefina gets to know Patrick more she and her sisters make a trade with him to get something very important for their father. But Patrick left before they got their item and Josefina has to face a fear and sneak out of the house to find out if Patrick really has gone.
This is a really good book but if you haven't read Josefina's series before than you should start with her first book and then make your way to this one. Happy Reading!
We liked this book.......2002-10-17
This is another one of the American Girls series about Josefina Montoya, a ten-year-old girl living in the New Mexico of 1824 (actually January of 1825). In this book, Josefina and her family travel to her grandfather's rancho to await the arrival of the wagon train from the United States. She meets her first American, Patrick O'Toole, a handsome scout for the wagon train. The family wants to trade blankets and mules with the Americans, but is this handsome young man trustworthy?
The final chapter is in an interesting and informative look at outdoor life in New Mexico in 1824. Jean-Paul Tibbles' illustrations, warm and filled with emotion, add a great deal to the story, and are a welcome addition.
My daughter and I both liked this book. The story has its scary parts, but it also has a nice lesson, and I enjoy the frank look at life then and there. This is another excellent book, a worthwhile addition to your library.
