This book is a must have to start your own fashion line.......2007-10-10
It tells you step by step what to do and what not to do, it even gives you places to go so you can get started and gives you that extra push you need to make it
Everything you need to know and more.......2007-06-10
This book is the most concise source of information on how to mindfully start one's own clothing line. Detailed and clear, it outlines everything one needs to know from inseption and development through financials, incorporation, press, factory relations, shows and beyond. It is, by far, the most complete resource for any aspiring designer.
A must have.......2007-06-01
I f you are starting a business this is the best book you can find.
You ll find a lot of advices that will be very helpful.
Don't waste your time or money........2007-03-20
Ok I read this book and this other book called Fashion For Profit. This author obivously does not sound like she has really worked in the garment industry. It would be very scary to start a business taking advice from this book. It kind of reminds me of that old sewing lady professor you have in home economics class trying to tell you like you are a 4 year old trying to run a company, scary stuff if you ask me. I got all I ever needed out of Fashion For Profit. That book is strictly business. It's twice as much ,but you get what you pay for. Apparently the author of Fashion for Profit has been voted numerous times in the top 10 most influential in the California Apparel Industry by the California Apparel News. Bottom line you get what you pay for.
This book is absolutely fabulous! .......2007-02-13
I would recommend this book to anyone thinking about starting their own fashion design business. It answers any and all questions and best of all it provides resources that we all need (especially if we have no one to guide us). If you're a student of course you would have the resources provided to you by the school itself, but for someone who is doing this from natural talent and ideas, it's GREAT!!!

Good but outdated.......2007-09-12
I enjoyed this book and its simplicity, however, found it was a little out of date.
Good Product.......2007-05-12
Very informative. It was a quick read, and gave lots of ideas for places to go for more information. Some of the links listed in the book are out of date, but considering how fast information changes on the web, I'm not surprised. A much better value than many of the other consultant books out there, and an excellent starting point for anyone considering this field.
OK for a how to book.......2007-03-09
OK for a how to book. It does not give real world experience.

Book Description
Lymph drainage massage is a technique utilized by estheticians and massage therapists to provide relief from edema, an accumulation of fluids in the tissues that causes swelling. This book provides a scientifically accurate explanation of the lymphatic system, the theory behind lymph drainage massage, and explains when it should be performed. The book also explains the application of lymph drainage massage to the needs of well clients, rather than focusing on pathology, since most massage therapists and estheticians will not be treating lymph edema disease in their work.
Customer Reviews:
LYMPHATIC DRAINAGE BOOK.......2007-04-04
I REALLY LIKED THIS BOOK. IT IS VERY INFORMATIVE, AND THE DIRECTIONS ARE VERY CLEAR AND EASY TO UNDERSTAND. I WOULD RECOMEND THIS BOOK TO ANYONE WHO WANTS TO LEARN MORE ABOUT THE LYMPHATIC SYSTEM AND HOW TO USE MANUAL TECHNIQUES TO DRAIN THEM.
Milady's Guide to Lymph Drainage.......2005-09-10
Not at all for lymphedema patients but otherwise a good view of lymph drainage for peoplele with less compromised or healthy lymph systems.
review.......2005-09-01
I found this book very american. It skimmed the theory and dangerously avoided dangers of treating non healthy clients.I found the instructions confusing and unhelpful. I would not recommend this book.
Great Book.......2005-07-07
I purchased this book to help with my husbands lymph drainage problem. His sister is a Physical Therapist and has looked over the book and says it is a great book. I also like it for the pictures that it includes and the "self Help" section so that he can do the exercises without always having to have me to do them. Thanks for such a great book.

To illustrate key points, this edition includes numerous photos, charts, maps, and up-to-date reference material. For career success as a tour guide, director or planner, hotel personnel, city guide, travel agent, or tourist bureau representative, let "Conducting Tours" be your guide!
Customer Reviews:
Dr. Mancini's books are great!.......2006-06-02
Marc Mancini, Phd, is the travel industry's most well-known industry educator and speaker.
As a travel school student (and later as an Instructor at the same school) I watched his many travel education videos and read many of his textbooks. He clearly presents topics vital to the travel industry and explains in depth subjects which should be required reading for all professionals in the industry.
Now, even with over 13 years working in various segments of the highly diverse travel and tourism field, I find reading Dr. Mancini's books and viewing his entertaining and informative videos enhances my everyday performance.
I highly recommend Dr. Mancini's materials to all currently employed in the travel industry and those considering a career change!!!
The best book on the market for this subject!.......2006-04-24
Mancini covers this popular career position thoroughly. Since it has always been a dream of mine to become a tour conductor, I found this book to explain exactly how to become one and how to do the job well.
Useful for novice Tour Managers.......2004-11-04
In this handbook you will find nothing about presentation and interpretation skills of contemporary tourist guides. The book is focused on some strictly practical (technical) aspects of the tour guide's job. It can be useful, however, for all novice tour managers - especially for those who enter the profession without previous training and who won't be working as local or on-site guides. This will be a good start for them to learn generally about the tour industry, tourism market, tourism suppliers, types of tours, etc. The book promotes a self-teaching way of acquiring the professional knowledge; each chapter is followed by an 'Activity' page with relevant questions and tasks, so you can check out what you have learned. The only part of the book which might be interesting for more experienced guides is about client and escort psychology, but there are only 12 pages dedicated to that topic. In sum, I have expected much more from this book.
Excellent for budding Tour leaders.......2000-06-22
This book was truly practical for both the established tourleader or anyone wanting to begin in the industry. There areinvaluable points that help you to establish relationships with your clients and tips to improve your confidence skills. There also also excercise that help you work your way through each chapter. Great, easy reading.
everything you ever wanted to know about being a tour guide.......2000-04-20
I recently took a college level course in a hospitality and tourism curriculum and this was the text used for the class. I was skeptical as to what a book could teach you about being an effective tour guide. During the class I had the opportunity to lead a group to London for a 9 day tour. I was amazed at the many tips the book gave that were helpful. He discusses the psychological aspects of "herding instincts" and how people can revert to childish behavior when they submit all decision making for a week or two to a tour guide. It includes tips on how to set up a tour package and how to get the best deals from hotels and airlines. He also discusses the different types of guide jobs including positive and negatives aspects of each. Very Helpful book!

The authors, Eric Bean and Jenni Bidner illustrate this book with fantastic photographs and beautifully written compositions of what should be expected by models and what is expected of them. I absolutely love this book and recommend that anyone who is even faintly interested in the subject manner should read this book. It is truely a fascinating read.
All the basics of what it takes to become a model.......2005-06-09
It's fitting that art and crafts book publisher Lark Books should then move to a book on photographic modeling, Complete Guide For Models: Inside Advice From Industry Pros: it's a logical transition and offers the power of an art book publisher paired with the expertise of a fashion photographer and fashion editor. Models will learn all the basics of what it takes to become a model for the artist; from posing for commercial print ads to special opportunities for men, women and child models. I Loved the interview with Supermodel, Carmen Dell'Orefice........2005-06-03
It was really informative hearing from a model who has modeled for 50+ years. I recently saw Carmen Dell'Orefice in a runway show in NYC, and she looks great. Great interview, great photos.
I learned alot from this book.......2005-05-22
I live in a small town in California, and i want to be a model. I always dreamed of going to NYC and being a runway model. I asked a few of the agencies in nearby towns, but they didnt know much about NYC. I got this book, and it answered alot of questions i had about modeling. The modeling schools near me charged alot of money, to take classes, but i learned just as much from this book. I can't wait to go to NYC now.

Customer Reviews:
This book is GOLDEN to any new hire considering consulting.......2007-10-19
I'm coming from a medical/public health background, several years out of college and newly considering a health-business career in this amorphous industry called "consulting."
As a result, I'm starting fresh and had no idea where to begin - learning about the companies, the lifestyle, the work, how to position myself to a possible employer, what subcategories to use when describing my skills set within the industry, and where to learn simple business vocabulary like "elevator pitch," "position myself," "leverage," "human capital," and a hundred other words.
In those regards, this book has been GOLDEN. It does a fantastic job of explaining the management consulting industry (and by extension, all types of consulting companies focusing on assisting company management in various business areas). This book starts at ground level, defining consulting in a nuanced, understandable way to an outsider before giving a history of the profession and its subtypes (ie way companies think of themselves within the industry). This is useful information to understand the way you have to approach these companies and showcase your skills so that you'll seem valuable to them. It's not a straightforward thing to do, even if you have a stellar medical resume.
The book goes on to give a lot of information/practice about the case interview, salary negotiation, and other invaluable information that I found helpful as I'm getting into the industry. It rolls several books worth of knowledge into one.
BUT, I'd still recommend buying an additional pure case interview practice book to supplement this one when you get past the need for industry exploration, resume editing, and positioning, and on to pure interview prep.
If only we could put the tree back in the forest..........2007-10-05
This book is dedicated to general job seeking and interviewing techniques applicable to any employment situation. The chapter on consulting models and case questions is decent, but the remaining 200+ pages are irrelevant drivel that sheds little light on the inside machinations of a consulting firm, consulting positions, duties, expectations, and daily life. After spending a couple of hours reading this book, I feel no more prepared to approach leading firms for interviews than before I picked this title up.
great book, especially the cases..........2007-04-01
great little book this one. provides a definitive overview of the consulting industry. it is not biased in any way - so it highlights the pitfalls of the profession, as well as its perks. i think the best part is probably the case frameworks and the 100 sample cases. it has the 10 different types of cases you could expect, and then provides a worked answer in dialogue format - which makes it particularly helpful if you want to practice cases with a friend. all in all, a great guide - thoroughly recommended.
Exellent Book.......2002-02-16
Excellent as a textbook. I use it to teach a university-level management consulting class. Many of the relevant topics covered provide a very good basis for in-class discussion. It is well written and insightful, presenting an accurate portrayal of what it is to be a management consultant. I especially like the sections scripted by industry veterans. I recommend this book to anyone interested in or considering a career in management consulting.
useful.......2001-10-28
This is a useful guide, though can be a bit simplistic at times. Still, it is worth reading, particularly if you are very new to the industry. Also recommended for consulting careers are the Vault Guide to the Case Interview and the Vault Guide to the Top 50 Consulting Firms.

I never thought it would be possible to get published so quickly, but the guidance and insights in Susan Page's book allowed me to plan a clear path for my first book which was sold within 9 months. The Shortest Distance...is by far the best "how to get published" book on the market with concise, direct, generous and incredibly useful information. It even helps with promoting and publicizing your book once it's on the shelves. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to be a successful author!
A real eye-opener to first-time authors!.......2006-04-04
I had an idea for writing a book and am soooo glad I read this before I put pen to paper (or fingers to keyboard as the case may be). Susan Page really wrote realistically and completely on every aspect of getting a book published. Yes, she does focus on non-fiction - but that's what she knows. Her writing was engaging and approachable and the author was likeable and sincere. I took 6 pages of notes! A+!

This book gave me more insight about what the Gaming work world is like than all the other research I did my whole life.
This is an essential read for anyone who wants to design electronic games!

Finaly the 100% blunt ugly truth about making video games!.......2006-11-30
I can just imagine gamers walking into Game Stop seeing this guide and getting big dreams of getting paid to play video games. This book crushes those dreams once and for all. The book tells the good and the bad of what it is like in the video game industry. And the reality is that making games isn't easy or always fun.
However if you feel like you can cut it and the warnings don't scare you the book does list practical no nonsense tips about how to approach breaking into the industry. That's where this book differs from other books about getting into video game making (Like the Game Career guide from Game Developer Magazine) this book gives specific tips relating to each sub-field of the video game industry it covers.
This book is not a technical guide however. I would have liked to see recommended reading for each job category. The book struck me as just a large compilation of opinions of video game industry members with some weird comments thrown in by the authors. The comments can be amusing but at times they where distracting and at worse condescending. As a programmer I was irked at the stereotyping of programmers and repeated usage of the words code monkey throughout the chapter "Technical Jobs". Overall enjoyed the book and found valuable info but I was expecting a little more professional presentation of the material so I gave it 4 stars instead of 5.
