A Book English Majors Should Read.......2006-12-23
This book has information and resources that would be useful for any English major because it covers many of the jobs out there for people who love English. I did not know an English major could get so many different kinds of jobs. It covers teaching, techinical writing, business... It also gives you questions to evaluate yourself to figure out what kind of job you want. It was worth reading.

Targeted for history majors and hits the mark.......2001-07-09
Personally, this book was a great help to me. Although the strategies suggested for resume and cover letter writing (getting an interview and job) are nothing new, the second half of the book in which the authors describe five different career tracks are excellent in that they are directed specifically towards History Majors. While I originally pictured history majors going into either professional historian-type jobs (e.g. professors, authors) or classroom teaching, the authors very correctly pointed out that historical museums and other pubic education institutions are in need of people with history backgrounds as are businesses, etc. The advice is practical and the information proved to be very specific for me--a history major. Recommended for those of us with history backgrounds still trying to "find themselves" career wise.
Wealth of information.......2000-03-25
A highly detailed guide to finding a career using a history background. Has a lot of information about careers and sources for more information.

Somewhat helpful.......2007-01-10
This book, while offering good advice for career paths in general, is not very useful for the Anthropology student. As a graduate of Anthropology I have been working for the last year in a job completely unrelated to my major. I am constantly searching for work and even internships or volunteer opportunities in Anthropology. Because I am having trouble finding work like this, I decided to buy this book. The only resources that they mentioned are things that I have already tried (such as the AAA website). While this book is good for most careers, it is not specific enough to help anyone in Anthropology when looking for a job in the field.
A Must Have for Anthropologists.......2000-05-31
Great Jobs for Anthropology Majors is a 'must-have' for those in Anthropology. This book covers a lot of ground concerning direction in such a vast field. It opens options outside of teaching and field work, as well as helping you improve your part in the applying/hiring process. As a graduate of an Anthropology program myself, I found little help in finding what I wanted to do with my education and how to do it. This book answered many of those questions and gave me some direction in the use of my education. Although it would've been more helpfull when I was in college, it still helped me tremendously as a graduate. I highly recommend this book for those in Anthropology.

Two-year colleges can also be an excellent gateway to a career. Great Careers in Two Years links more than 100 promising and rewarding careers to two-year degree programs. This book is a must for students, parents, teachers, libraries, and guidance offices.
Customer Reviews:
Careers in Two Years.......2000-04-05
As a counselor in a Community College, I found this book to be an excellent example of ways in which our students could use their degrees. Many of the students at a two year college are not aware of what they could use their degrees for and this book helps to make them aware of their options.

Not what I thought.......2006-08-20
I was disappointed when the book arrived. I thought it was going to list different types of jobs that you could get with a bachelors or masters degree in psychology. Instead, it has an assessment that you take and then explains how to go on a job search. Not money well spent in my opinion.

This is the book math majors have been searching for!!!!!!!!.......1999-06-08
As a recent graduate with a math degree this is the book I have been searching for. This is the only book you should need. It covers the interview, cover letters, resumes, networking and everything else. All other books on this subject limit discussion to education majors and jobs. This book does the same but gives equal treatment to those who seek jobs with math as a primary skill. It has hints for everything you could imagine. Gives lists of job titles and many job discriptions. Also gives some contact information for organizations that will be of help or interest to anyone looking for employment using their math degree. Once again, this is a must buy!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Customer Reviews:
Pretty decent book, but..........2005-01-15
This is a fairly decent book which covers a lot of possiblities for people with a degree in foreign languages. However, the sad truth is that there are not all that many career opportunities for linguists who have not developed a strong (preferrably scientific or technical) second skill. American companies tend to take their linguists for granted, but hopefully this situation will change as more linguists make their way into possitions of authority. For what careers ARE out there this book is fabulous.

Tell Me Something I Didn't Know.......2004-06-28
This book may be somethat interesting for polisci majors when they are first starting out, but once a person has their degree and their resume, it is not worth the time to read it.
Great if you are still an undergraduate!.......2000-08-04
This book is really insightful to those who are still earning their undergrad degrees. It offers many tips on resume writing, networking, and assessing ones own skills. If I were a junior in college this would have been a great source of information and inspiration. However, for someone who has been out of school for a short period of time, it doesn't offer much in the way of career guidance. It does offer good tips on graduate school and how to find the program that is right for you depending on what type of job you are interested in after. It also lists all the professional associations for a political scientist.
