Welcome to Modern Mentoring.......2006-07-12
To demonstrate how "power mentoring" works in practice, authors Ellen Ensher and Susan Murphy provide down-to-earth interviews with about 50 pairs of high-powered mentors and their protégés. The conversations offer useful nuggets of insight about office politics, job advancement and successful networking. In addition, unlike many books on the topic, this one provides a useful snapshot of the issues, dramas and special challenges women and minorities in the modern workplace face - and the picture is not always pretty. The book's biggest flaws are its redundancy and use of boardroom clichés. Still, we recommend this personalized, practical book to potential mentor-protégé teams.
New mentoring strategies for new business environments.......2006-04-20
Ellen Ensher is Associate Professor at the College of Management at Loyola Marymount, and Susan Murphy Associate Professor at Claremont McKenna College: each has written and consulted both together and independently and here produces a powerful collaboration on mentoring and its lasting benefits to both mentor and prot?g?. Mentoring has a powerful influence on successful people: that's been proven; but traditional models of mentoring haven't kept up with business programs that have different emphasis today than in past. POWER MENTORING covers these changes in approach and offer new strategies for locating and creating 'power mentoring' relationships. Interviews with 50 top leaders and their proteges in technology, politics and media reinforce these concepts and approaches.
A Must.......2006-01-12
Power Mentoring is a powerful reminder that even in one of the most individualistic societies on earth, most successful people do not succeed alone. Power Mentoring skillfully combines the latest research on mentoring with fascinating interviews of real American success stories. Interesting and well written, this book is a must for business students or anyone wanting to know one of the best kept secrets to success.
Best mentoring book you could find!.......2005-11-15
We all know how important and valuable a mentor can be, but most of us do not know how to find a good one, and how to make the most of the relationship if we do. "Power Mentoring" taught me so much on the topic, and transformed mentoring from being a nice idea, into something concrete that I too could benefit from. I loved the book, and would recommend it to anyone interested in bettering themselves and their situations.
Just In Time Advice.......2005-09-27
This book has the right tools at the right time. Great tips and techniques for trainers and especially those who are focused on the diversity initiatives in their organizations. The stories are compelling and relevant. There is information and tips that can be applied - right now. I found this book to be inspiring as well as entertaining and it is very helpful in coaching managers in their careers.

The benefits of following the advice in Wealthy and Wise........1999-10-30
"I was so impressed with Wealthy and Wise that I suggested my 19-year old daughter read it. What better introduction to life's responsibilities and the utility of money? My wife heard our discussions and we put Mr. Rosenberg's ideas to work. Recently diagnosed and successfully treated for cancer, she was amazed at the current anti-nausea drugs. However such drugs are expensive and can put a real drain on a less fortunate family. My wife's oncologist thought that funds to assist in such situations were really needed. Our brand new family foundation wrote that check recently and we feel great! I thank Claude Rosenberg for such a wonderful book."

Yippie, Another Trade Show.......2007-05-14
Marketing professioals rarely cheer at the thought of doing trade shows, but they are a necessary part of their job. This book does a great job of providing a step by step thought process for achieving better success.
While you may already be doing many of the things suggested in the book, the book makes you see the big picture of getting more done and tracking the results.
Good Book.......2007-01-09
You'll learn some valuable lessons from this book. I think you should buy several books on the subject in order to get more information. Each book will teach you something different, which will broaden your understanding of the field.
An absolute must for the tradeshow exhibitor.......2006-06-21
I can't think of any other book investment I made that has paid off as much as this book. This book has much information to turn the clueless into a master tradeshow exhibitor. It has clear instructions that are easy to follow with planning timelines, checklists, etc. As costs are climbing and competition increasing, it's very important to squeeze out as much juice from the tradeshow as possible. This book will definitely give you an edge.
MADE ME THINK AND SAVED US $$.......2006-03-01
I have been to so many trade shows (as an attendee) and I thought I knew what it took to have a successful booth; nevertheless I ordered this book for my husband since he is setting up his first trade show booth this month. It's a good thing I skimmed it and that he's reading it from cover to cover because it made us realize our whole strategy (since his product is rather specialized) was wrong. Ironically we will even save $ by using the author's more simplistic approach as well as properly training his staff members in advance with the marketing/sales advice given by this author. I'm very impressed with the author and grateful that others gave this a great review, which motivated me to buy this book first!
The best trade show book I have read.......2005-11-20
This book is concise and clear. It provides real advice for companies of any size- advice on how to generate more leads, in less time, from higher-quality trade show prospects.
If you are looking for a book that tells you how to design your trade show booth, this is not the right book for you. But if you are looking for a book that will help you and your sales team maximize your results, give Mr. Miller's book a shot.
We have been exhibiting at a particular industrly trade show for three years prior, but this year we followed much of the advice in this book. We had a GREAT show. I had ordered another trade show book on-line that was over four hundred pages long. That was four hundred pages too long - the other book was terrible!
This book is easy to read and the advice is practical. Measure your team's performance, watch your time with each booth visitor, qualify your leads ASAP, and remember- every trade show visitor is in a BUYING attitude! Have a great show.

Get the Most Out of Sales Meetings : Here's How (Here's How).......2000-11-07
I did not think this book touched on the topics I was interested in. I was looking for a book that focused on planning and executing a "Sales Meeting"; more of a meeting planner book. The book is valuable for a Sales Person, it covers different ways of handling sales calls, more than Sales Meetings.

For the businessperson who wants that promotion, the housewife who needs to manage time more efficiently, the student who hopes to study more effectively...here is an invaluable guide to maximizing your personal and professional potential.
The message from Mark McCormack, owner of the billion dollar management group I. M. G., is simple: achieve peak self-esteem, peak performance and peak success by putting forth peak effort. Giving even 100% is just not enough -- you must learn how to give that extra 10%. The key, according to McCormack (who cites clients such as Martina Navratilova and Jean Claude Killy as examples), is the successful management of every aspect of your life -- your time, your talent, your creativity. Learn how to identify your strengths and use them to their greatest advantage. And discover that, while there are no shortcuts to getting ahead some paths are easier -- and more rewarding -- than others.

Auction This!: Your Complete Guide to the World of Online Auctions (Miscellaneous)
ASIN: 0072125772 |
Amazon.com
While it doesn't share any real inside information about Internet auction sites, such as might be gleaned from the leader of such a site, The e-Auction Insider has a lot to say about buying and selling online. Authors Dave Taylor and Susan M. Cooney (Taylor runs iTrack.com, the auction-monitoring site) give advice on getting the best price for an item that you're selling and dealing with shark-like, last-second bidders--also known as snipers--when you're buying. They also detail how to contact the other parties in your transactions and the proper use of escrow services. Although a sizable section is devoted to each of the main general-interest auction sites--eBay, Amazon.com, and Yahoo! Auctions--the emphasis falls solidly on eBay. Readers might wish for more coverage of variants on the auction theme, such as Priceline.com.
The book concludes with a directory of general- and special-interest auction sites that includes everything from Robynsegg.com (stickers, rubber stamps, and other scrapbook goods) to RockAuction.com (guitars, amplifiers, lighting equipment, and so on). It describes each site--with more substance than you usually find in directories of sites--and reports on registration rules, as well as any fees that apply to buyers or sellers. Some of what this book contains is common sense, but a lot of it will prove new and worthwhile to many readers. --David Wall
Topics covered: Buying and selling, safely and profitably, on Internet auction sites. How to list items; search for auctions; bid; monitor bid competitions; use escrow services to reduce your chance of being defrauded; and the specifics of auctions on eBay, Amazon.com, and Yahoo! Auctions.
Book Description
The e-Auction Insider is written by a true auction insider, Dave Taylor, the president of iTrack, a popular internet auction tracking service. The book is full of insider tips that explain the secrets and strategies of online auctioning, including: research to do before you auction your item; reserve price auctions; escrow services and fees; and global auction situations.

Great advices........2004-12-28
Internet books usually have an "expiry date", because of the rapid changes. This book holds some timeless advices. It is an excellent guide, although on a general basis. The price is attractive as well!
Best e-auction book out there!.......2000-07-31
Marvelous book - well written and takes all the fear out of going online to buy and sell at various e-auctions. Great book for beginners - it takes you through an auction step by step. For experienced folks it has great hints to increase your chances at winning auctions, plus a very good section on how to write descriptions of sale items to install confidence in buyers and get bids. Recommend this book to all Ebayers and other internet auction-goers.
Answers to my online auction buying and selling questions.......2000-07-07
This book not only tells how ebay functions, it also describes and rates a number of other auctions sites I didn't know existed. It explains all about buying and selling. Definitely a necessity for anyone thinking of selling on the net which seems more difficult to me than buying online. The book also has useful 'insider tips' boxed on the pages for added help. It also has figures showing how the actual online pages appear for various auction functions. If there is a comparable book available, I'm not aware of it. Well organized and most useful.
