Awesome, Awesome, Awesome........2007-09-13
The book is outstanding. I'm an EE and an audio enthusiast. I love the way this guy writes. He tells it how he sees it.
Out of Date.......2007-08-26
Great book. One major problem ... all of the "pro high end" designs discussed require L-MOSFET outputs 2SJ162 / 2SK1058 that are no longer available from reputable suppliers AT ANY PRICE. Also ... the PCB's are no longer available from Seal Electronics (in fact they are defunct). If you are looking for a good power amp project, don't waste your money here.
With basic understanding of electronics this book is great.......2007-07-18
Unlike other amplifier books this skips all the math. It focuses on topology of amplifier design. To make your own from the book you would need to know some EE math to figure everything out. If you understand how basic components like capacitors and transistors work this book is amazing. There is also a lot of incite about high end audio products available and dismisses many myths. I'm a third year electrical engineering student and this book was great. It is definitely not for beginners but great for everyone else.
Poor description and content .......2007-07-08
Don't purchase this book if you only have a basic knowledge of electronics. The title and covers are very misleading. Contains few illustrations and the so-called step-by-step instruction is nonexistent. Author talks down to you and does not deliver the "nuts-and-bolts know-how" the Editorial Review states. It also states, "Easy to understand guide walks you through": Building the optimum audio power supply; Audio amplifier power supplies and construction: Amplifier and loudspeaker protection methods; Stability, distortion, and performance; Audio amplifier cookbook designs; Construction techniques; Diagnostic equipment and testing procedures; Output stage configurations, classes, and device types; Crossover distortion physics; Mirror image input stage topologies. He doesn't walk you through anything. Maybe good for the professional but novices beware!!
Now you understand..........2006-12-03
Very well and clearly written book which which explains the basic principles of power audio amplifier design and construction. To be able to understand, you should have appropriate technical education, or previous experience with electronic circuits. The book also contains a real world do-it-yourself examples (+ pcbs) of power audio amplifiers. However, do not expect to be able to design your own amp after reading this book - it is beyond any single volume. Excellent. Kind regards, Mario Mitas.

Pop quiz: Where are American kids taught the nuances of being millionaires as part of their junior high curriculum? Where do guests at a posh outdoor party grouse about the defects of high-end flushable Porta-Johns? Where does a school auction rake in $439,000? The answer: Silicon Valley, of course. David A. Kaplan captures all that excess and more in The Silicon Boys.
Kaplan's book is a history of the Valley, from the time when Stanford professor Frederick Terman encouraged David Packard and Bill Hewlett to establish their own company to when Sequoia Capital invested $1 million in a startup founded by Jerry Yang and David Filo. In between are the many Valley legends, including Fairchild Semiconductor, Intel, Kleiner Perkins, Apple, Oracle, and Netscape--as well as some of its most notable failures and tragedies, such as William Shockley and Gary Kildall. While the book begins with the opulence of Woodside, California, it ends surprisingly enough in Portland, Maine, with Bob Metcalfe, founder of 3Com, who fled the Valley for something "fresher" and "more alive."
As he traces the short history of the area, Kaplan, a senior writer at Newsweek, detects a not-so-subtle change in its values. He writes, "Nobody appears to be having quite as good a time in Silicon Valley. Passions have become mere professions; impulsiveness is now compulsiveness.... The Valley once was a new machine. It changed the world. It may do so yet again. But the machine has no soul anymore." Here's a thoughtful and colorful read for anyone interested in one of the most dynamic places on the planet. --Harry C. Edwards
Book Description
THE SILICON BOYS
Jerry Yang
The chief Yahoo of Silicon Valley and ultimate Internet tycoon...the poster boy for immigrant success who went from pennies to millions to billions...you'd say Yahoo, too!
John Doerr
The J. P. Morgan of the Valley...the man Bill Gates fears most...bankrolled Netscape and Amazon.com...the man so wired he has a cell phone built into his ski helmet.
Marc Andreessen
The hottest, coolest, hungriest techno-weenie of his generation...his invention unleashed the World Wide Web and made him a multi-millionaire at twenty-four.
Bill Gates
Darth Vader, Godzilla, "the Leona Helmsley of technology"--he's the guy everybody loves to hate...the richest man in the galaxy and leader of the Evil Empire known as Microsoft.
Jim Clark
Founder of Netscape, daredevil pilot, and owner of the world's greatest cyber-yacht...the serial entrepreneur: "If at first you succeed--try, try again."
Steve Jobs
The prodigal son of Silicon Valley...started Apple Computer, got kicked out, then returned...arrogant, petty, a master marketer--the guy they hate to love.
PLUSThe Valley's No. 1 adolescent...the programmer who could've beaten Bill Gates...Andy "the Mad Hungarian" Grove of Intel...the weirdest town in Silicon Valley...and where to buy eighteen-dollar-a-pound ostrich salami.
It is an American icon -- the symbol of technological genius and ineffable wealth. It is the home to the Newest New Thing, where the digital age was born and keeps remaking itself. It's also the only place in the world where you can buy eighteen-dollar-a-pound ostrich salami. It is, of course, Silicon Valley.
Now prize-winning Newsweek journalist David A. Kaplan takes us on a riotous romp through the history and culture of the Valley. How did Yahoo get started, what nearly killed Netscape, will Apple survive, who's the most powerful person in Silicon Valley? Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, Jerry Yang, Larry Ellison, Andy Grove, John Doerr, Jim Clark -- the tycoons, the loons, and the hot-air balloons are all here. Based on firsthand accounts and extensive interviews, The Silicon Boys is a portrait of high-tech high jinks and its moneyed lifestyle like no other.
If the Valley were a nation, its economy would rank among the world's twelve largest. Depending on yesterday's stock market close, roughly a quarter-million Siliconillionaires live in the Valley. Here they invented the microchip and video games and Internet commerce. But more important, they created a state of mind that's become part of the American imagination. The Valley has its admirable moments, its venal moments, and, best of all, its absurd ones.

Enthralling.......2006-02-18
I thoroughly enjoyed this book from beginning to end. For anyone interested in the culture of Silcion Valley it is a must read. Yes, as other reviewers pointed out it jumps around quite a bit. Both in terms of pace and interest. However, taken as a whole it provides exciting stories of busines, personal flare, finance, and technology. A good read for anyone with at least a vague interest in the subject matter.
Good Description of Silicon Valley.......2003-02-04
"The Silicon Boys and Their Valley of Dreams" is a well written description of Silicon Valley at it's peak. It describes the culture of the valley during the nineties. It is an interesting peek into the a world of driven software developers and venture capitalists and everyone else in their galaxies. It focuses on companies and names we've all heard of: Apple, Oracle, Netscape, Microsoft, Intel, and many more. For anyone in the technology industry, this book is a good window onto the 90s - pre dotcom mania.
Solid Silicon Story.......2002-10-19
This was one of the best Silly Valley stories I've read yet. Kaplan does a very good job offering a historical and chronological storyline that educates the reader while holding interest. Hence an educational book that also happens to be very unique and authentic.
Silicon Boys Book Review.......2002-07-11
The non-fiction book The Silicon Boys and Their Valley of Dreams is written by David A. Kaplan. It is about how Silicon Valley started and why it is important to be near all the silicon in California. Also it explains who invented and invents the processors and software. It talks about Intel, then Apple and Microsoft, after that Oracle, then Kleiner Perkins, Mozilla, Microsoft, and finally Yahoo.
David A. Kaplan used many correct facts and you can see who his sources are in the back of the book. It is organized chronologically starting at the early `70s when "The Traitorous Eight" first started developing processors. It concludes in 1999 when Microsoft was developing Internet Explorer and Yahoo was popular. Each chapter talks about a company or person or both.
I think it was a very good book. It told me a lot about the computer industry and the people behind it. If you don't care much about computers you shouldn't read this book but if you even have a slight interest, you'd like this book. The author did a very good job explaning the aspects of the computer industry, so even if you don't know much about computers you can understand this book.
Fun romp.......2002-01-07
Great read on the culture of the Silicon Valley and how tycoons like Jobs, Yang, Ellison, Andreesen, and Clark built their companies. Learn about how the "biggest legal creation of wealth in history" all happened. Kaplan does an excellent job writing in a witty biting way.

Book Description
This book grew out of the Blacks at MIT History Project, whose mission is to document the black presence at MIT. The main body of the text consists of transcripts of more than seventy-five oral history interviews, in which the interviewees assess their MIT experience and reflect on the role of blacks at MIT and beyond. Although most of the interviewees are present or former students, black faculty, administrators, and staff are also represented, as are nonblack faculty and administrators who have had an impact on blacks at MIT. The interviewees were selected with an eye to presenting the broadest range of issues and personalities, as well as a representative cross section by time period and category.
Each interviewee was asked to discuss family background; education; role models and mentors; experiences of racism and race-related issues; choice of field and career; goals; adjustment to the MIT environment; best and worst MIT experiences; experience with MIT support services; relationships with MIT students, faculty, and staff; advice to present or potential MIT students; and advice to the MIT administration. A recurrent theme is that MIT's rigorous teaching instills the confidence to deal with just about any hurdle in professional life, and that an MIT degree opens many doors and supplies instant credibility.
Each interview includes biographical notes and pictures. The book also includes a general introduction, a glossary, and appendixes describing the project's methodology.
Customer Reviews:
Long overdue and rich in experiences.......2003-09-04
This historical volume contains a wealth of information about the MIT experience as seem from the black perspective -- in all its diversity. Dr. Williams' insightful telling of these personal stories, coupled with individual interviews, gives the reader a sense of the fullness of the MIT experience across a broad spectrum, from the estatic to the achingly painful. A compelling read, whether you want a true glimpse of the Black scholar's experience at MIT or to enrich your knowledge of the Institute itself.

Book Description
Blue Mountain is the story of how our publishing company, Blue Mountain Arts, and electronic greeting card website, bluemountain.com, were founded and developed. In this book, I write about some of the experiences my husband Steve and I had: from the time we silk-screened our first posters and lived in the back of our pickup-truck camper to when our poetry greeting cards became the number-one-selling card line in America.
Years later, we fought--in court--two of the largest corporations in the United States to save our companies. Because these lawsuits had such a strong impact on us, I describe them in detail. In the late 1990's, our family was swept up in the insanity of the dot-com craze. I also chronicle our whirlwind entanglement into the fast-moving world of the Internet.
Many people have told us that our story is inspiring and that they admired the way Steve and I successfully pursued our personal and professional dreams. Over and over again, we were asked to write a book about how we did it. At first we wondered what could be learned from our story. Then we realized that the knowledge we gained might help others turn their dreams into reality and bypass some of the pitfalls we experienced.
If you can learn a single lesson from this book that helps you to avoid one of the hurtful mistakes Steve and I made, then this book serves a purpose. This is why, after years of living privately, we felt Blue Mountain should be written. We have managed to live our dreams--a life we designed for ourselves. I hope this book will encourage you to take a paintbrush and create your own mountain of dreams.
Customer Reviews:
starting a business.......2007-03-31
They have a very inspiring story, but I wish they had given more details on the business of greeting card. Perhaps more of a step by step way to start a business.
Outstanding example of holistic success-this is a great story-book!.......2006-09-12
I was gladdened to have found this book - This narrative by Susan polish Shutz is simply and sincerely told; in keeping with Blue mountain Arts "content" What started as a shoestring hippie graphic arts poster business turned into a blockbuster success while keeping true to its ideals. I loved hearing about the "roadblocks" and the eventual solving of these obstacles.I am really surprised that this book isn't touted more as a how-to manual to succeed in any maverick small business - because there are countless maxims conveyed that can be of value and inspiration- Stay true to yourself, damn the naysayers, maintain harmony in the family and business circle, and be naiive but not too naiive. (as the saying goes "praise God but tie up your camels) Bottom line is that there is a universal longing for serenity, high ideals and a non caffeinated ( not literally of course) tenor. that is why this company has had such success- because it appeals to this human want.
A feel good story about unlikely business success........2006-05-26
Susan's story about Blue Mountain is a great read. It starts with her shocking discovery of Hallmark copying Blue Mountain cards.
Then it goes back into the past about how they got started. Susan's style and short chapters keep the flow. Chapters go into details of challenges they faced to start their business and challenges when their business grew.
Many chapters talk about their lawsuit against Hallmark. These chapters talk about the toll on them while fighting a large company.
In the end there are some stories about their life.
Overall a good read. I had always liked BlueMountain.com, but after reading this book (quoting Paul Harvey) now I know the rest of the story.
A Book with Universal Application.......2004-08-31
Blue Mountain is hard to categorize. Susan Polis Schutz seems to have naturally combined elements for a business book, a publishing history, a family story and a inspirational leaflet into her account which ends up in a unique work. My overwhelming impression, though, is about the consistent sincerity, courage and faith shown in the Schutzes' every action that keep this book integrated. Those who read it only looking for a shortcut to wealth would probably be disappointed, but other readers might find in it, aside from every other merit, a rare quality extremely lacking in most of today's self-help books: an unflagging faith in humanistic values and a belief that they will prevail.
I read Blue Mountain last year when it was sent as a trade sample to the Chinese company I worked for. Its narration was emotive without being sentimental and immediately took me into the book's world despite the fact that I came from a distinctly different Chinese background and had no business aspirations. Still, I could relate much of my personal experiences to the book and apply its lessons to see through the problems within my company. Now I have resigned from that company and work as a freelance translator, enhancing my skills to pursue my dream. I am indebted to Blue Mountain for its keeping me company through the difficult, depressing period of my previous job and inspiring me to a new awareness of where I should be. For its universal application, I hope the book will soon be translated into Chinese so more of the 1.6 billion people will be inspired and dare to live up to their dreams against the mammonism and consumerism increasingly prevalent in the country.
An inspiration for us all.......2004-07-16
A story of courage, strength and family values, Blue Mountain's story is an inspiration to us all.
Book Description
Kyle MacDonald had a paperclip. One red paperclip, a dream, and a r?sum? to write. And bills to pay. Oh, and a very patient girlfriend who was paying the rent while he was once again “between jobs.” Kyle wanted to be able to provide for himself and his girlfriend, Dominique. He wanted to own his own home. He wanted something bigger than a paperclip. So he put an ad on Craigslist, the popular classifieds website, with the intention of trading that paperclip for something better. A girl in Vancouver offered him a fish pen in exchange for his paperclip. He traded the fish pen for a doorknob and the doorknob for a camping stove. Before long he had traded the camping stove for a generator for a neon sign. Not long after that, avid snow-globe collector and television star Corbin Bernsen and the small Canadian town of Kipling were involved, and Kyle was on to bigger and better things.
In One Red Paperclip, Kyle takes you on a journey around the globe as he moves from paperclip holder to homeowner in just fourteen trades. With plenty of irreverent and insightful anecdotes and practical tips on how you can find your own paperclip and realize your dreams, he proves it’s possible to succeed in life and achieve your dreams on your own terms. Quirky and inspirational, this story of a regular guy and a small, red, now-legendary paperclip will have you looking at your office supplies-and your life-in a whole new way.
Customer Reviews:
A Master Marketer.......2007-10-21
First this young man trades a red paperclip for a house and now I'm paying him (book royalties)to tell me his story. But it's well worth the price of admission. He combines a clever idea and internet savvy with strong interpersonal skills to entice each trader and thousands of others to join his cause. Easy to read, hard to put down, and the pictures clinch the deal.
I would have given it five stars except that I think he tries a little too hard to convince you he's "an Ordinary Man", which clearly he isn't.
Best fiction I've read all year!.......2007-10-17
This book is masterfully written to convey the inner workings of the common villain and his quest to exploit the goodwill of others. If this book was about a real person, I'd have been outraged at the ridiculous notion that a person would lie about trading a paper clip for a house. But since this is a work of fiction and clearly cannot be real (due to the brilliant misspellings and improper English allowed to run rampant throughout the text), I absolutely adore it! The main character, Kyle, is such an unlikeable fellow that he rivals the great villains of literature like Madame Bovary, Voldemort, and Dr. Claw. Nowhere but in works of such fiction can someone like Kyle get a house in such a quaint, made-up Canadian province. It's absolutely brilliant to use a book as a device to make people feel so good about themselves for the sole reason that they are not the main character. This book reminds me that my lackadaisical existence is surely better than that of Kyle's, and for that, I have to give this book at least 5 stars. Bravo, whoever wrote this. You have excelled at mastering the literary form.
Oneredpaperclip the book. Awesome reading.......2007-09-17
I enjoyed reading oneredpaperclip as much as I enjoyed being at the house warming in Kipling. Kyle does a great job of capturing the mood and atmosphere of the whole experience.I recommend this book to anyone who has a dream and they are not sure if it's worth following. This book will show you that it does pay to follow your dreams. Thanks for the inspiration Kyle.
Great advice and tons of laughs!!!.......2007-09-12
One of the best and funniest books I've read in a long time! I had seen Kyle's story on t.v. a couple of months back and was excited when I stumbled upon his book. Kyle has a great writing style and gives great advice for following your dreams. Moral of the story: take action and have fun!
Book Description
For the past half century, the Sony Corporation has been highly successful at tapping the seductive nature of consumer electronics. Around the globe their ubiquitous products are recognized as symbols of cutting-edge technology and innovative design, making Sony the undisputed leader in high tech and one of the most recognized brand names in the world. Digital Dreams takes an unprecedented look inside the world's most influential design center and their products--many never before published--for the next millennium.
With nearly 250 industrial designers; graphic, packaging, and logotype designers; user-interface specialists and Web designers working in offices from Tokyo to San Francisco to Cologne, the Sony Design Center is responsible for nearly 2,000 new products, concepts, packaging schemes and design strategies every year, driving sales of products and services totalling nearly $50 billion per year. By shaping the most pivotal technologies of our time, the Design Center exerts a greater influence on popular culture and current trends in industrial and graphic design than any other single entity.
As Sony stands perched on the new millennium, its design team is now redefining virtually every major product line in the company's vast consumer electronics sector--launching Sony's definitive leap from analog to digital technology.
Until now, the work of the Design Center has been shrouded in secrecy. Digital Dreams is the first comprehensive preview of the technological and aesthetic vision that will dominate the landscape of the next century.
This book surveys Sony's twenty-first-century product line, examining more than 100 new products, concepts and prototypes. Following the transition to digital technology, Digital Dreams reveals the corporation's techniques and design philosophy at work. Everyone who listens to music, watches movies or TV, carries a Walkman, or communicates by telephone or the Internet will be affected by the "digital dream" now taking shape at Sony.
Customer Reviews:
An Unusual and Lovely Book.......2007-07-22
An Unusual Book, July 28, 2007
By Ray "A Reader" - See all my reviews
This book is a somewhat dated, but nevertheless gorgeous, panorama of product design Sony's way, and with their distinguished record of outstanding design work for some half a century, they are certainly in the position to tell us something about design. Never mind Sony's missteps and forays into the world of media and movies - this book tells us all about the Sony WE know, the company that developed the Trinitron television, the Walkman player, the MiniDisc recorder, and brought both cassettes and CD-ROM's into mainstream use (with its co-partner, Philips of the Netherlands). Digital Dreams tells us not so much about products, but how products are envisioned, designed, and ultimately walked through a lifecycle. It's a fun-filled story, filled with stunning graphic designs, gorgeous pictures and artwork, and even a little on how Sony viewed its business at the year 1999.
Though this book is not intended to do so, the book actually serves as a great case study for the field of Knowledge Management. For example, we learn a little bit about corporation logos, how they are best used to leverage their tacit value, and even thoughts on protecting them. We peek into the world of tacit knowledge and skills at Sony, and see how they are implemented in product design and even in marketing efforts. We learn about the creation of a CONCEPT that is materialized in a product (i.e., the MiniDisk recorder, the Memory Stick, the VAIO computer) which is as much about the psychology of human beings as it is the design of the product. As such, the text could easily serve as a supplemental text for a KM course, as well as it's obvious use in a graphic arts, products design, or business-oriented course.
Much of this information is now no longer of great interest to today's consumer due to it's release date of 1999, but it is remarkable to see the "timelessness "of the many designs in the book, and there is really not a dull moment to be found between the covers. In some ways, this was a great date to release such a book, because the VAIO computers were just beginning to hit the market, CyberShot digital cameras where just becoming available, and the Memory Stick was also just showing up, as well. If you can still get a copy of this book and you are interested in product design, graphic arts, consumer technology, and yes, even Sony itself, this book should be just what you're looking for.
Digital Dreams : The Work of the Sony Design Center.......2005-09-25
Fascinating book that gives a very good insight into the create 'engine' of Sony. A must read for designers and business people alike.
Sony as an inspiration.......2000-09-05
I am writing this as a sony evangelist, although the cover of the book is diffrent to the one which is shown here. the content of the book is amazing, The dazzling pictures and photography in the book is an eye opener, The book takes about the cluture and the art of the japanese sony designers. How they get their inspiration from stories and from the world around them. An extreammly good showcase of the arts and industrial developnment and design. The book is also rather new tackling subjects on memmory sticks and the newest Sony MD. However the most impressive part of the book was the chapters on the sony playstation and the sony viao subnote book computers. They explain such indept on how the designers used their inspiration and creativity to craft out wonders of high tech art. They also explained how sony tackled the many problems face when designing the playstation. Overall it is the best sony book i have bought. A wonderful inspirtational book filled with creativity which makes you "wow" at sony's design process and designs. "wow"
perfect for right and left brainers.......2000-06-20
Beautiful photographs and explanatory text help make this book a must buy.
But in no way does it sit on my coffee table - it's in my studio, in my home office - inspiring. The tight detail shots of real products to concept products make you wish all man-made objects had this attention to quality. This book is a must for designers because there are words that go with the pictures. They tell a wonderful story - whether you agree with the philosophy or not - it helps explain the design decisions, the strength of the Sony identity and their success. The timeline diagrams and text explaining the business trends of product entry to saturation really is a reflection of someone thinking and analyzing the system - something not really expected in pretty-picture books.
I can't believe the excellent price point too - most decent design books gouge you on cost. For those who appreciate beautiful form+function, get it.
A Great Balance of Imagery and Text.......2000-04-06
This is a rare coffee table type book that you'll want to take the the bedroom or study, or wherever you do your serious reading.
You can easily enjoy the book simply for the wonderful images of the ingeniously designed products that Sony has and continues to develop. But what sets this book apart from most in its genre is that it provides the reader with a surprisingly rich context within which to view the design work, not only with regards to industrial design, but also the history of Sony the company.
Reading the text, one gains a deeper appreciation for the level of thought put into the design of each and every product throughout its entire lifecycle.
Finally, the book also provides a unique look into the future of consumer electronics, at least from the perspective of the leaders at Sony. It's a rare opportunity to see the future as defined by a company which has much to do with the shape of our present.
This is definitely a great buy or gift!

Outstanding! No real trader should be without this book........1999-09-06
Krieger has managed to pack into this book (he calls it a "guidebook" and I see why) everything from incredibly accurate day trading reversal techniques (using heretofore unexamined uses of WD Gann's genius), to detailed analysis of the amazing Keltner Channel, in which the price bars predictably move day after week after month (a true leading indicator). And this is just a tiny portion of the very practical and profitable technical analysis techniques thoroughly discussed throughout the book. It also goes into the most fascinating discussion of the natural forces which underlie the markets and how you can use them. It also details excellent money management and risk management methods, and has the most comprehensive overview of the entire business I have read. And it really does show how to trade as a business and not a gamble, which is of critical importance to our consistent success as traders. An entire chapter details how to best deal with news and government reports. The list goes on and on. It is, in a word, Practical. Although I think you have to be an actual trader to really appreciate just how good and useful this book is, it does start from a beginner's perspective. This book gets my highest recommendation. A brilliant work!
Don't buy much better out there for much less $........1999-06-20
This book only covers the very basic information needed. And all of the info he gives you in this book is free on the internet. He hypes excellent results from his system but that is another purchase, a very expensive software purchase. It boils down to this...you are paying him for an advertisment to buy more of his product.
nothing new in this book ........1999-02-13
If this will be your first book on commodity trading, it's a fair introduction. However, if you've read anything before, then save your money and invest it in a real-time system.
A glorified sales pitch!.......1999-01-27
This book is a glorified sales pitch for Mr. Kriegers analysis tools. It falls way short of being a how to guide. While his writing is good and the information is helpful, it stops at the most critical point...How To! The book should be priced at $19.95 based on the infomation provided and that they hope to make money on the other end as well. The information can be found elsewhere and you won't feel fleeced when your done.
The best, most practical, profitable guide I have ever read........1999-01-06
Why do I recommend this book so highly? My ever-growing trading account has something to do with it! This is no joke folks. The detailed knowledge presented in the pages of Scott's book has ultimately translated into significant trading profits for me, often on a daily basis. And I have definitely "paid my dues" as a trader so I know what I am talking about. I had been trying to trade successfully (both daytrading and position trading) for almost three years, and during that time I acquired a library of about 45 trading books. I learned a bit here and there, but ultimately they didn't help make me any money at all (and often to the contrary, I lost a great deal trying to follow their poor directions in the rough, no nonsense, real world of trading). It got to a point where I thought I could never succeed at the "dream" of being an independent trader at home.
Well, I can happily tell you that UNLIKE any of those other books, Scott's is overflowing with the real, practical "How To's" of trading (from A to Z, just like it says), and it actually shows you how to make serious money at this. It turned my trading around 180 degrees to the plus side! Finally! To be a successful trader you really do need knowledge (just like Scott says) and this book has it in spades. It is also extremely easy reading, even when it gets very technical. It's amazing how it actually turns you into a successful chart analyst without your even realizing it.
Bottom line is it works! But don't just take my word for it. Check out all the other trader and professional reviews of the book at Amazon and at the book's own web site, and then just get it! Sorry this review was so long people, but I am very excited about all this, and if I can help you to shortcut all the useless time, frustration and loss of money that I went through then it is all worth it, right? Go for it and Happy New Year!!

Dreambiz.com is RELATABLE and EASY TO READ!.......2002-03-12
This book is a great opportunity to understand the power of the internet and the potential for everyone to make a mark. It is an easy and short read that is packed full of facts that can change life. Application of these principles has changed my life. If you are looking for an answer on where to start; read this book and email me...I will prove how Burke Hedges has put forward the perfect blend of business principles with the evolution of the internet!
Utter dross.......2001-08-31
Written at a sub-adult level, this Get-Rich-Kwik book is a very light read. If you've ever wondered what those direct marketers are on about, have a look at this featherweight tome. The style is very persuasive, as long as you don't look too closely at the facts presented (or absence thereof). Figures for internet up-take and growth are bandied about, with little reference to sources or comparative figures. For example, "People will spend $115 billion over the internet in the US by 2006" (paraphrased). Oh really? Says who? What percentage of total retail sales will that be? What goods or services will be bought and sold in this way. A few references to Bill gates and Henry Ford are supposed to convince us that we can all become millionaires. (He conveniently ignores the fact that Ford's starting capital of $28,000 is worth considerably more in today's terms.) It's light, forgetable, and it reassures me that the direct marketeers (like creationists) are "mostly harmless". Just don't buy anything from them...
Work smarter, not harder.......2000-11-16
READER FROM THE USA SHOULD GET HIS/HER FACTS RIGHT. FIRSTLY YOU CAN ACTUALLY BUY SHARES IN AMWAY. SECONDLY IF HE/SHE HAD GOT HALFWAY THROUGH THE BOOK AND THEN ON DISCOVERING THE WORD AMWAY NO LONGER LIKED THE BOOK THEN HE/SHE MUST HAVE A MAJOR PROBLEM. THIRDLY, LET ME GIVE THE READER A FEW MORE FACTS. AMWAY HAS MADE THE HIGHEST AMOUNT OF MILLIONARES-SELF MADE MILLIONARES THAT IS. MICROSOFT IS THE NEXT ONE BUT ONLY THROUGH SHARES. AMWAY ALSO HAS AN A1 CREDIT RATING. QUIXTAR IN IT'S FIRST YEAR PAID OUT ALMOST AS MUCH MONEY TO IT'S IBOS AS AMAZON.COM MADE IN IT'S FIRST YEAR. LASTELY I WOULD LIKE TO SAY THAT IF READER HAS A PROBLEM WITH THE SUCCESS AMWAY HAS BROUGHT TO MANY PEOPLE THEN HE/SHE SHOULD JUST CARRY ON WITH HOME TO WORK UNTIL THEY ARE 65 AND LEAVE THOSE OF US WHO WISH TO HAVE THE CHOICE OF FINANCIAL INDEPENDANCE ALONE.
Online business!!!!.......2000-10-18
An excelent book which enables the reader with information on what to look for in a business. Particularly an E BUSINESS!
Most people are looking for the perfect business to retire from, but don't know what it is they are really looking for or how to get it. This book not only tells you what to look for, but even lists company names.
If you can think outside the "employee box" then this book is for you!
Finally, an opportunity for everyone!!!.......2000-08-29
So many skeptics, so many nay sayers. Those who have their heads in the sand, will probably end up with rocks in their heads. Isn't it time to quit trying to stop the ineveitable and lock onto THE next revolution ?? All of the great business ideas were all laughed at by those who had little vision. It isn't whether this will work, it already is, in a big, big way. Too bad those who ignore it, are the same ones who will complain about not having a 'fair' chance at a great lifestyle. Write on Burke!!!

Book is good but software is lacking.......2001-06-27
I've enjoyed the book very much. However, the software does not include many of the basic database features you should normally expect. For instance, the ability to search on keywords and phrases, there is no spellchecker, and the analysis feature mearly highlights the words that match with your symbols library which I don't consider to be analysis.
For anyone interested in seriously journaling their dreams in software I'd look elsewhere on the Internet.
Provides the only complete system for interpreting dreams.......2001-03-04
Stephanie Clement and Terry Lee Rosen's Dreams provides the only complete system for interpreting dreams, avoiding the psychology which dominates many other guides and providing chapters which tell how to identify and work with dream symbols. An accompanying software program tells how to work with these symbols, enabling users to print out dreams along with personal symbol definitions. The software elevates this a step above the competition, though the approach differs also.
Dreams Working Interactive.......2001-02-23
Explore, interpret, and record your dreams with this comprehensive dream dictionary and software journal database. Enter your dreams into the database journal and it will interpret the meanings and symbols. A truely innovative interactive tool.
