I read this book soon after it was released, and just re-read it today because a group of folks at work are all reading it now (and will discuss it tomorrow). I would like to be optimistic enough to believe that a toxic group of workers would make such a serious turnaround in attitude. We certainly have our share of them at work. But what I came away from this book feeling (both times I read it) is that I am capable of being optimistic, cheerful, and pleasant to be around, but I don't have enough influence to change the people around me who seem to hate life. Those people are bitter because that is what they find more rewarding and that is an easier way to behave. So, I guess I feel that the intent of the book is very good, but the results may not reach much farther than the reader. To be fair, it did motivate me to suggest to some people at work that the sarcastic framed mottos on their desk (e.g., "Lack of Planning on Your Part Doesn't Constitute an Emergency on my Part") might be counterproductive, but they are still the same old curmudgeons, and the sarcastic mottos are still on their desks.

The book does not provide adequate information on morale boosting. The examples cited do not occur too often in real life, and the situations are far too idealistic than the ones we encounter everyday.
No theory or research or whatsoever has been cited, making me wonder whether the content come from the author's dreams or pure imagination.
The book is also too short for a full fledged book to be published, I think that it's more appropriate to publish in a newspaper or blog.
Overall, it's a good lunchtime read, have a good laugh, and forget about it. It's not worth your money to buy it.

This book is a quick read for anyone...the story was interesting enough to keep my attention all the way through. Even though this book was depicting more severe circumstances than I have faced, I could still find ways to relate to the information. It's a nice reminder to practice good work habits every day!

Several chapters, such as the one on the spine, lower extremities, skin, and pulmonary system are, indeed, quite well-written and fairly easy to follow.
The chapter on upper extremities, however, is simply in deplorable shape.
Moreover, the AMA guides did not do a good job of explaining when it is appropriate to use a certain method and when it is not. in many cases, the evaluator is not sure which method to use, even after a careful reading of the guides.
The overarching philosophy of the Guides is not explained as well as it should be.
All in all, however, a vast improvement over the much more difficult to use fourth edition.
needless to say, a physician using this book needs both an instructor and an appropriate patient population to refine his/her skills as a disability evaluator.

This is a great book for learning the anatomy. DI used it to prepare for pilates instructor training. The descriptions and illustrations are very clear. The book also gives summaries of which muscles are involved in which movements.

I ordered this text book through Amazon because the school book store was out. In my past experiences with Amazon, I have been able to receive the same product, faster and sometimes cheaper. In this case, all was true except the book store book came with a very necessary CD, the book with Amazon did not.

This book has a lot of vague points and skims over a lot of important facts and functions - the only reason my school switched to this book was because there was one tiny flaw in the nervous system chapter of the prior book.
But buy it on amazon because the bookstore will overprice it (they wanted $195 at my school for JUST the book and that was used - not including lab manual).

useful radiographic textbook for the orthopaedic surgeon. contains short overview of the disease described in each chapter and a lot of x-rays demonstrating radiographic findings. we found it useful for our residents before exams and during daily work.

Very good book and since i'm a student at RMIT in melbourne australia and terry yochum was once a teacher here, he gave us a visit and lectured from his book. I recommend this book to anyone who is doing any form of skeletal radiology.
Best radiology book on the market, great for nat'l boards.......2003-12-05
I graduated chiropractic school this year. I used this book in school and found this it to be filled with lots of info on soft and hard tissue pathology. The radiographs are excellent in this book. Every condition from spinal bifida occulta to fibrous dysplasia is described with the utmost detail. Every chapter has a helpful summary that summarizes all the important points of each condition. I also used this book to help me study for Part II, III and IV of the National Boards. However, if you really want a great book to study for the national boards do what my study group and I did, get the following:

For example the Part IV Study Guide had great sections on chiropractic technique, clinical impression and x-ray diagnosis. It presented the questions just like on the exam. These 5 books are must buys.

An essential text for all chiropractic and medical students as well as practicing doctors. Useful write-ups on hundreds of conditions. Wonderful coverage of arthritides and tumors. Huge section on normals and a small section on positioning. The only place it's lacking is in chest and abdomen, and that's because it's a book on skeletal radiology. I couldn't do without it.

I highly recommend these books to anyone that wants a firm foundation in radiology. The chapters follow a simple, logical progression that first time readers will enjoy. This textbook is a very detailed writing with some explanation of basic physiology. It is a difficult read for a beginning text and needs to be backed up with supplemental information if you are learning from this text as a first line of education. I feel it is a very good review of physiology already understood with an in depth explanation into more detailed physiology.

this book is too detailed for the step, a better books is brs physio.i read the whole section on neuro, it was very detailed but not once did i come across such info on my boards. Stick w/ brs physio unless u are trying to become a physiologist.I made a 229/95 on my boards reading brs physio, pocket robins, lipincott biochemistry, first aid, high yield anatomy mainly, then skimmed through high yield embryo and histo. Even though i read katzung for pharm it was a waste of time as first aid is more than adequaate.

I have used Ganong's Review of Medical Physiology as my standard reference on human physiology since 1963. Its concise, clear prose and illustrations make it a joy to use. From an Indian context, I don't think it necessary for a student to byheart Ganong in the first year. For an average student it can be disastrous to rely on Ganong for the university exams as time is very limited and it is not usually possible to study and recall all that is given in this exhaustive textbook. But for those who are really hardworking and keen to hit the jackpot in the very first attempt in the PG entrance tests, it is a must read. This is an excellent reference book. I think that the authors could have tried to simplify the language used for the sake of international audience and for a more pleasurable read.

This particular item is an excellent overview of case management practice for beginning and experienced case managers alike. Every aspect of case management practice from definitions to professional boundary issues and ethics to listening skills is covered. While this volume handles each topic in depth, the writing is straight-forward and no-nonsense. This combination makes the information necessary for a thourough discussion on the topic very accessible even to the novice. Chapter 1 entitled "Ethics and Other Professional Responsibilitities for Human Services Workers" provides a strong base for the subsequent discussions which follow. Chapters 6 and &7, "Seeing Yourself as a Separate Person" and "Clarifying Who Owns the Problem", flush out issues which need to be addressed in today's expanding market of paraprofessional services.
This book is a good resource for the shelves of those already working as case managers and a great text for students preparing themselves for work in the field of human services.
