Author IYANLA VANZANT offers a spectular guide line, for every man who want to know his spiritual side of themself. The book offers a great guide for Afro-Americans, especially young African American male. My two elder brother read this book and they recommended i read it. This is the first book of VANZANT that i have read, and i would recommmend young African Americans to really read this book. "America's greatest crime against the Black man was not slavery or the lynching, but that he was taught to wear a mask of slef-hate and self-doubt" -Malcolm X

I am a 21 year old black man, who for so long knew that there was more to life but could not figure out what it was. Months of searching lead me to realize that I had to become more spiritual. I went on to read numerous books on spirituality and self-improvement, but after learning these principles I had no way of applying them. This book showed me how to apply what i had learnt and also taught me a lot more things about life and my relationship with the Creator. This book is a must for every black man or woman who is at the entrance of the tunnel, sees the light at the end, but does not know how to walk through. Iyanla took my hand and I'm sure she'll take yours. After she has lead you to the light, you learn the ultimate lesson: you have been and will always be able to lead others through this tunnel.

Amazing Daily Prayer, Meditation and Affirmation Book!.......2007-05-19

One of the most important teachings in the Bible and other sacred texts such as the Indian Gita is that our thinking, our consciousness, creates our lives and what we ultimately experience. Did not Jesus say: It is done to you, as you believe!", and does not the bible also say "Where there is no vision the people shall perish".

Even our Karma, the Law of Cause and Effect, commonly known as "What Goes Around comes around" is often a result of an action we did that first was a thought in our minds before we did it.

Hence, what prayer and positive affirmations do is to lift our consciousness and put it in the flow of divine consciousness, in harmony with the mind and spirit of God which is positive, abundant, healthy, and creative. The Bible says "We are created in the image and likeness of God", does it not? So that means we have God Power! As we think affirmatively, and positive prayer and positive affirmations, as found in this book (Richer Living) help us to do this; our lives will respond to our positive use of mind power, or God Power if you will. Thus, we can experience greater health, loving relationships, and greater Success! in all facets of our lives.

I have been using this prayer/affirmation book daily for two years now, and honestly I have experienced greater health, success, relationships, and peace (and yes much better finances). This book has helped me rise in consciousness.

I agree with a previous reviewer. I think this book would suit any spiritual-minded person or person interested in developing his faith, of whatever denomination!

OK-Not the best for daily inspiration.......2007-03-13

Was hoping for better. It has some strength but I have seen better and they could of created better from his teachings.

It says it in the title... "richer living!".......2004-02-20

And the book keeps its promise! Really I have been reading this book for at least 7 years. I think I owe myself a new copy. I even got one once, but gave it away, preferring my trusty old, weathered, page dropping friend. When, for whatever reason, I miss my daily inspirational reading from this book, I am like a compass without a North. It really makes a difference! The words are positive, so rational and so true. They are at the same time uplifting and grounding; and propice ... to changing, enhancing, enriching one's life and therefore the lives of those around one... and the world! Let me just read you today's lesson / inspiration. Well, it is entitled, "Nothing can prevent increased abundance from appearing in my life today." That is some promise! This is backed up by at least one quote, oftentimes from the Bible but there are many other rich references from the Gita, the Tao Teh King, the Koran, the Chaldaen Oracles, the Upanishads, the Mahabharata, Kwang Tze, Thrice-Greatest Hermes, Buddhism in Translation, the Awakening of Faith, Emerson, to name only a few. For the references alone, it is a real gold mine!

Each page, whichs corresponds to a day then, has a title, one or more quotes that support the title, a Science of Mind related explanation and then a little meditation to say or read or think ... They are beautiful, all of them. A wise investment, a thoughtful gift for yourself or another!
Now, the meditation for today is: Today, I lift up my consciousness and receive a more abundant expression. I bless everything and know that all good will multiply in my experience. I expect good. I live in a state of joyous anticipation, as well as quiet realization.
I think this book would suit any spiritual-minded person or person interested in developing his faith, of whatever denomination! Blessings and thanks to Ernest Holmes and Raymond Charles Barker!

Who needs encouragement? The answer is "Everyone who has breath needs encouragement." It means everybody around you including yourself.
I found this heart warming stories of people with integrity, faith, love,and kindness encouraging me every day. Whenever I read this book, I almost can hear Zig talking to me in his Texan accent. It may appear as just a little book, but through this little book, you will gain a direct access to Zig's life long philosophy, passion, wisdom and encouragement.
Read the book and be the person who encourage others around you!

I have been a fan of Ziglar's for many years
and found his books and audios inspiring, but
now he has gone off the deep end with his non-stop
Bible quotes. If you like being preached to,
this may be for you, but it wasn't for me.

Fallen "Author".......1999-12-31

I have been a member of Prophet's church for a long time. I have read this work and don't know why she puts her name on it. All of her works were written by her late husband, Mark Prophet, or the Ascended Masters. She just writes down what they tell her to write down. She's a puppet. Usually secretaries don't get writing credits, do they? I'm tired of this fraudulent self-appointed Guru putting her name on everything as if she wrote it. She does not write her own books and she did not write this one. Other than that, it is a good book.

This is a great book. This guy must've been a great guy. He talks about the whole point of life and what we're supposed to do while we're here. He's kind of funny in some places, too.

An Insightful and Delightful Roadmap.......1999-01-20

While I am skeptical of many aspects of the work of Mrs. Prophet, I found this book by her late husband a real gem. It contains many practical spiritual truths, told with great insight and a gentle sense of humor. After many years on the "path," this is one of those metaphysical books I picked up thinking, "Oh well, it's small and cheap, what the heck!" I ended up loving every page! I would enjoy seeing more of Mark Prophet's work in print. Are you reading this, Summit Lighthouse? :)

Sound advice, well written, and from the heart--A Career Devotional can focus (or refocus) you on your career path.
Tom Jones has been able to condense a great deal of wisdom into readable, understandable, and most importantly applicable 'chunks.'
An author myself, I'm envious of the siimple power of this book.

I thought A Career Devotional would be another one of those "untouchable" books - great idea but not relevant to me. I was wrong. His book touched on so many aspects of my job. I choose which chapter I needed to study and needles to say I am still at the same job and tolerate the 'small stuff' better.
