MJ the master of the sale . . . but he's much more than that .......2007-10-11
Mark Joyner, whether teaching you how to market via word of mouth, how to improve your personal performance via simpleology courses, or just giving you general insight into life, is successful for one reason: honesty. His honesty and integrity allows him to see that which others who try to manipulate and control miss. And isn't that the secret to success? How many people ever desire to come back to a business, company, even person or individual who is phony? One who attempts to draw you in with deception and then does the bait and switch. Warren Buffett--he of multi-billions, the great investor--said that a major factor in choosing companies to invest in is based on whether or not you like the company enough (read people) to work there. Well, Mark Joyner is one of those people many enjoy working with. Because of his honest, straight forward approach.
The Irresistible Offer is certainly that: honest. Even though it has its flaws--excessive examples, repetition, and at times, opaque theory--it is a book that truly displays the genius and great insight of its author. And you've got to believe (all you The Secret people) that if you seek the truth, the truth will seek you. Herein lies Joyner's gift.
I once read a sales letter of Joyner's that hit to the core, issues I had been having in acquiring all-things-marketing to get my business going. He mentioned how marketers are charging hundreds of dollars for a "box full of 'secrets' that is nothing more than some low-quality audio recordings and poorly edited transcripts?" And how important it is that "A transformation of spirit without a direction and a clear plan might bring you happiness for a while, but if that happiness is not reinforced by real change in the real world, it is always short lived"? Personally, I have chosen to avoid many schemes, internet marketers, and plans or bonus-encrusted list blasts because "quality and value is more important to" me, as Joyner states.
The book certainly has its more general philosophies, but it also gets into enough specifics on Word of Mouth and how to use it in your business to give the reader his money's worth . . . and then some. Great ROI, wouldn't you say Mark? Get it. It's worth every penny.
3 seconds or less..........2007-08-15
Well, I'm not one to believe hype and I still don't think it can be done in 3 seconds or less, but I am amazed at the tricks that I did pick up. Worth more than a 3 second perusal.
An excellent addition to any marketer's library.......2007-06-28
I am a professional PR and marketing man. I constantly strive to hone my skills by reading trade articles and books about the subject. If you hope to become adroit at marketing, you must do the same.
The Irresistible Offer is an excellent book that teaches the nuts and bolts of putting together a product and brand message. It explains how you can refine your product's message into a 3-second touchstone that conveys the features and benefits of your product to prospective customers at a glance.
The psychology and theory behind this book is excellent. I would recommend it as an addition to any marketer's library.
-Craig Nybo, author of Total Human: The Complete Strength Training System
Every Marketing Professional Should Own This Book.......2007-06-27
This book is a must read if you are in marketing or advertising. This book not only explains how to create an irresistible offer, but it also shows you how to use intensifyers to get customers to take action. Overall, one of the most useful marketing books I have ever read.
This book is an "Irresistible Offer".......2007-06-21
The title itself is an excellent example of "the irresistible offer." The "3 seconds or less" refers to the amount of time you have with a prospect to get and capture their attention. However, the way the title of the book is written, you could interpret it to mean it will only take you 3 seconds or less to learn how to sell your product. Now that's great copywriting! And for anyone who wants to succeed in business, this book is a great reference. Buy it. Read it. Apply the lessons. And succeed. Even after nearly 30 years in advertising, I learned from this book.
Book Description
You're either a Purple Cow or you're not. You're either remarkable or invisible. Make your choice.
What do Starbucks and JetBlue and KrispyKreme and Apple and DutchBoy and Kensington and Zespri and Hard Candy have that you don't? How do they continue to confound critics and achieve spectacular growth, leaving behind former tried-and true brands to gasp their last?
Face it, the checklist of tired 'P's marketers have used for decades to get their product noticed -Pricing, Promotion, Publicity, to name a few-aren't working anymore. There's an exceptionally important 'P' that has to be added to the list. It's Purple Cow.
Cows, after you've seen one, or two, or ten, are boring. A Purple Cow, though...now that would be something. Purple Cow describes something phenomenal, something counterintuitive and exciting and flat out unbelievable. Every day, consumers come face to face with a lot of boring stuff-a lot of brown cows-but you can bet they won't forget a Purple Cow. And it's not a marketing function that you can slap on to your product or service. Purple Cow is inherent. It's built right in, or it's not there. Period.
In Purple Cow, Seth Godin urges you to put a Purple Cow into everything you build, and everything you do, to create something truly noticeable. It's a manifesto for marketers who want to help create products that are worth marketing in the first place.

Purple Cow: Transform Your Business by Being Remarkable .......2007-10-04
I have a lot of stuff by Seth Godin and think he is brilliant but this book disappointed me.
After reading Crossing the Chasm by Geoffrey Moore which Seth eludes to in a lot of his work I think Purple Cow brings Moores book in to the 21st century and adds different words but the meaning and theory of Crossing the Chasm still remain Moores work.
It is one of Seth Godins early works and having familiarised my self with most of Seth's later stuff I think that's what caused disappointment.
Purple Cow: Transform Your Business by Being Remarkable is inspirational for those wanting to get some idea of how ideas where virtually created out of nothing and his definition of a Purple Cow is essential if you want to do anything in life worth talking about.
I did read the reviews before I bought and expected a bit more and something new but that never happened.

Good marketing.......2007-10-02
The ideas in this book is not new. In fact, Godin just rehashed a basic marketing idea into a very pretty book. The contents on its own would be 2 or maybe 3 stars.
But why I gave this book 4 stars is the way he marketed it. He basically made his book a Purple Cow. That is what I got out of this book.
I call that Good Marketing.
Remarkrable book on advertising.......2007-09-25
The purple cow is a great read. It gets straight to the point and stick with it to the very end. Keeps the reader interested, and I now know what a purple cow is and how to recognize a purple cow. Great job Seth!!
Concise, forward-thinking, unique, REMARKABLE.......2007-09-20
The best way to make customers talk about your company and products is to give them something to talk about. Seems like common sense, right? But according to Seth Godin, few businesses take the simple steps needed to bring their products to the front of the pack.
In this collection of short essays, or "riffs," as he calls them, author Godin tells you how and why to revamp your product development cycle and marketing efforts to highlight your company's "remarkable" aspects. A must-read for any entrepreneur looking to be the next new thing.
Tired of Being One of the Herd?.......2007-09-04
Going along doing the same thing as everyone else? You want to know how to stand out and be distinctive? Seth Godin's book Purple Cow: Transform Your Business by Being Remarkable is your guide. At the mention of this book's title, you're thinking about what a purple cow would look like, aren't you? Briefly, the explanation of the title is that Seth and his family were on vacation, driving through miles and miles of French pastures, seeing cows, cows and more cows. At first, the cows were interesting and beautiful. After a while though, the next cow looked just the same as the cow before it and it was all pretty boring. But then they thought, a PURPLE cow, now THAT would be something remarkable.
It's the same with businesses and marketing. In order to truly stand out from the rest of the herd, you have to be truly remarkable. And remarkable businesses do not follow or copy someone else's idea of marketing. They are the leaders. He sites examples of businesses such as diverse as Schindler Elevator Corporation, Tombstone Pizza, Sam Adams beer, Yamaha piano and Vanguard mutual funds and how they took existing industries and made radical transformations to them through innovative marketing.
Here's what I think is the biggest take away. Seth says that the opposite of remarkable is "very good." Very good is an everyday occurrence, hardly worth mentioning -- certainly not the basis of breakthrough success. He asks, "are you making very good stuff? How fast can you stop?"
Purple cows are risk takers. There are so few purple cows because people are afraid to have others not like them (there will always be some detractors when you're remarkable), afraid to break the rules, afraid to occasionally be wrong. The more close-minded your market, the more crowded the marketplace and the busier your customers, the more you need a Purple Cow. He urges that dipping a toe in the waters is setting yourself up for failure. You have to go all the way with dramatic improvements to see giant payoffs.
Stop your mooing and read this book!

The SEO/SEM Bible.......2007-07-26
This was one of the best books on Search Engine Marketing and Optimization that is out there. It covered almost every aspect of Marketing and Optimization. From a person who has purchased and read almost every book in this field, please take it from me, this is the book you want! It covered Pay-per-click, organic searches, conversion rates, E-Commerce in general. Truly one of the BEST books on Search Engine Marketing and Optimization. Professional, practical guidence on SEO and SEM.......2007-05-30
While I think that search engine marketing is a moving target and it's best to read current articles and journals, this book provides a great foundation for people interested in pursuing or understanding internet marketing, search marketing, or search engine optimization. It provides practical guidance and advice on what to do now but also works as a higher level strategic plan as well. It's written by IBMers, so there is definitely a level of professionalism compared to hackers or other non-corporate authors. Good book to add to your library, as I reference it from time to time.
Essential reading for anybody in the web space.......2007-05-23
I would argue that this is perhaps the finest, most concise guide to Search Engine Marketing. Developers, Marketers, CopyWriters, Managers and just about anybody else with a stake in search traffic through a website should find this material valuable. Do not expect code, expect sound advice on how to tailor your code. Do not expect copy, expect sound advice on how to focus your copy. After putting into practice what I learned form this book, I saw immediate and impactful results.

Updated with additional text and fresh examples, especially from e-mail writing, Joe's specialty, Hypnotic Writing is the most important book on copywriting (yes, that's really what it is about) to be published in this century. Read it. It will make you a better copywriter, period."

English Majors need to buy this book!.......2007-10-24
The key two points of this book: Get the editor out of your head and just write! and Write as you speak to keep your reader engaged. These two things would have saved years of torture when writing for English Lit classes or anything else. This is a keeper!!!
User Friendly.......2007-10-23
One of the best aspects of this book is that Joe Vitale does on the page what he is teaching the reader how to do. You learn about hypnotic writing and at the same time you experience it on the page in front of you. And it isn't a secret! Joe is transparent about that fact. This book is as close as a reader can get to experiential learning on the topic without taking a workshop.
I highly recommend it for any internet marketer. Hypnotic Writing can make a difference in your potential client sticking with your web site long enough to actually become a client!

Customer Reviews:
Helpful Book.......2007-06-27
Helps provide a clear model for analyzing companies and developing corporate strategies. In many ways, it is a more accessible take on Porter's Competitive Strategy.
Key concept, straightforward and short.......2007-06-24
Treacy and Wiersema make the case that the value of a product or service to a customer can be categorized in terms of efficiency (eg. low cost, on-time delivery), innovation (eg. latest technology or fashion) and/or customer intimacy (eg. customized solutions). They go on to argue that delivering each kind of value requires a different organization and culture, and hence the most successful companies are those whose business strategy is focused on delivering a particular kind of value to the customers that appreciate it the most, while remaining competitive in other areas. The analysis is accompanied by case studies of AT&T Universal Card, Intel and Airborne Express. The core idea of the book is valuable and 200 pages is plenty to explore it in detail.
Foundational Approach to Strategy.......2007-06-03
ALthough this book has been in print for over a decade, it is one I constantly come back to when helping clients organize their thinking about how they can compete.
I have been a Michael Porter fan for decades. However, when he describes competing by being a differentiated producer, it often left folks scratching their heads about what that meant. Treacy and Wiersema defing "customer intimacy" in a way that was effective in helping companies define how they could pursue differentiation. I have found that this particular strategy has applied all the way down to 1 to 1 marketing.
So the definitions and examples for three competitive strategies are clearly articulated, but also frameworks for implementing these strategies are provided as well.
All-in-all, a clear, compelling and implementable framework for competitive strategy.
This should be a text book.......2007-02-28
Best Marketing book I have ever read, I will keep this book forever. This is a must read for anyone in the marketing field. This book provides great examples along with real life examples.
Staying focused on core value proposition.......2007-02-26
The book reemphasizes the importance of product or service leadership, customer intimacy, and operational excellence. Organizations willing to be "anything for a buck" will find they loose touch with their customers quickly as they thinly apply talent and resources to serve everyone averagely.
Unity of purpose is also essential; a successful firm must act together to consistently and successfully compete. The book is good reading for managers and marketing professionals that need to review their business focus and the alignment of tasks, processes and competencies supporting that focus. The book offers materials to be used in team exercises.

To listen to its proponents, network (or multilevel) marketing is the greatest thing since sliced bread: top performers earn $1 million a month, reside in alluring places like Aspen and Kauai, and still find quality time to happily raise children and lovingly cement spousal relationships. Contending that those who fail to make it that far are ill prepared for the initial challenges they face, Mark Yarnell and Rene Reid Yarnell--married network marketers who are among the industry's leaders, as well as members of a University of Illinois faculty that teaches the only college-certified course on the subject in the U.S.--have written Your First Year in Network Marketing: Overcome Your Fears, Experience Success, and Achieve Your Dreams! to convey both advice and inspiration to newcomers. Peppered with personal anecdotes that bring their recommendations to life, the two offer logical strategies for overcoming rookie obstacles and kick starting a career. Individual chapters explore issues such as battling rejection, avoiding depression, handling prospects, supervising recruits, and managing time. Each concludes with a comprehensive summary, but save it for later reference and don't skip the preceding narrative, or you risk missing the book's considerable motivational component. --Howard Rothman

This book gives you the down-low on what to expect in network marketing without making you feel like you don't even want to try. It is very informative and gives lots of real-life examples which ring true to my experiences with network marketing. It is a good balance of realism and optimism; all done with honesty and integrity. Any new network marketer, and even some experienced ones who are struggling, should read this book.
Great Book.......2007-09-20
This book is really great for someone entering Network Marketing . . Easy to read . .
Same old stuff, different cover............2007-09-16
There are many books like this out there with the methods are out of date. Most successful network marketers build their fortune on the backs of others. There are some new twists on old approaches, the problem with most network marketing, MLM, multilevel marketing methods is the company's business model drives the behavior in the field and turns people into pushy, aggressive sales people, which causes huge failure in the industry.

A great way to get going.......2007-08-16

I only wish that I bought this book 18 months ago when I started with this wonderful MLM company I belong to. The insights of this industry are fully explained in this book along with stories that people in their organization have lived and learned through. Not only is the information useful and ready to be applied to your business but the inspiring stories are true examples that this industry works for those who work it. I absolutely recommend this book to anyone who is starting out in a MLM company and for anyone who is a veteran in MLM. I have recommended this book to my organization and everyone loves this book, too.
Book Description
The author of the bestselling The Art of Innovation reveals the strategies IDEO, the world-famous design firm, uses to foster innovative thinking throughout an organization and overcome the naysayers who stifle creativity.
The role of the devil's advocate is nearly universal in business today. It allows individuals to step outside themselves and raise questions and concerns that effectively kill new projects and ideas, while claiming no personal responsibility. Nothing is more potent in stifling innovation.
Drawing on nearly 20 years of experience managing IDEO, Kelley identifies ten roles people can play in an organization to foster innovation and new ideas while offering an effective counter to naysayers. Among these approaches are the Anthropologist—the person who goes into the field to see how customers use and respond to products, to come up with new innovations; the Cross-pollinator who mixes and matches ideas, people, and technology to create new ideas that can drive growth; and the Hurdler, who instantly looks for ways to overcome the limits and challenges to any situation.
Filled with engaging stories of how companies like Kraft, Procter and Gamble, Cargill and Samsung have incorporated IDEO's thinking to transform the customer experience, THE TEN FACES OF INNOVATION is an extraordinary guide to nurturing and sustaining a culture of continuous innovation and renewal.
Customer Reviews:
How many faces do you recognise?.......2007-08-13
Building on the Art of Innovation, Kelly brings us the new theory of the ten faces of innovation. It is simple to read and easy to understand. Another book which I found just as breezy to read was Eightstorm: 8-Step Brainstorming for Innovative Managers.
Good stories, but very IDEO-centric.......2007-07-30
Tom Kelley's book The Ten Faces of Innovation defines ten personas (thankfully not "named"--Bob, Sally, etc--just titled) that exemplify roles in an innovative team. They aren't job titles or exclusive positions, and people can work across roles as well.
* The Anthropologist, who observes people and discovers ways to help them
* The Experimenter, an expert in prototyping and testing, probably the classic "innovator"
* The Cross-Pollinator, with broad interests who enjoys connecting different cultures
* The Hurdler, who champions projects and carries them over beaurocratic obstacles
* The Collaborator, who brings people together to work cooperatively
* The Director, encouraging, inspiring, supporting, organizing and championing innovators
* The Experience Architect, a specialist in designing full "experiences" that transcend simple products or services
* The Set Designer, creating spaces that inspire and support innovation
* The Caregiver, who improves the subjective, emotional aspects of products and how they relate to us
* The Storyteller, who tells stories about people and products in creative and interesting ways
The book is heavily IDEO-centric, and most of the examples are from Kelley's own 20-year career there. Not really a surprise for a book subtitled "IDEO's strategies..." but worth mentioning; this is basically IDEO in book form. It includes several weird asides that are clearly IDEO/Kelley quirks, for instance his long tangents into the power of napping at work, comfortable hotel beds, and (ugh) T-shaped people. The IDEO focus gets pretty old after a while, and makes you wonder about the broader applicability of the ideas. What works in a design consulting company that works almost exclusively on short-term projects may not be the best structure for others.
But the personas are broad and--as mentioned above--not exclusive to people's job roles, so they are good signposts for anyone interested in developing their own innovation skills. I suspect it would be less interesting for a sole inventor/designer, but for people working at companies they are especially applicable.
Innovation-in-depth.......2007-06-07
The Ten Faces of Innovation describes ten complementary personas - personality types or roles that contribute in different ways to creative teams:
Anthropologist - this is perhaps the most literal title, meaning people who have been professionally trained as social anthropologists to observe people and processes and interactions `with a fresh eye'. These are probably the biggest antidote to "But we've always done it like that" thinking.
Experimenter - willing to take a chance, maybe, but also willing to explore alternatives and test concepts through prototyping, trial-and-error and applied science.
Cross-pollinator - like a bee flitting between the private parts of flowers, the cross-pollinator spreads good ideas and techniques between specialisms, breaking down silos and sharing good practice
Hurdler - able to leap tall buildings (well project hurdles anyway) in a single bound. They are adept at finding ways over (or more likely around) around immovable obstacles to reduce the banging-your-head-against-a-wall bruising.
Collaborator - knits people and teams together by finding common interests and objectives. Sometimes described as the spider who weaves the web linking everyone to everyone else.
Director - nothing to do with the title on her business card, the Director provides clarity and direction, a rallying point for the troops yet with the humility to actively listen to input from the team.
Experience architect - with an uncanny knack of putting themselves in the customer's shoes, experience architects can visualize products and services at the point of use, no mean feat when they are barely on the drawing board and even the customers are an unknown quantity.
Set designer - this is a fascinating persona: someone who creates visual spaces and physical representations relating to the job at hand. Not really office architects as such, set designers invent scenarios and contexts. They are also comfortable to break unwritten rules and help people mix fun with work (now there's a thought!).
Caregiver - in the sense of nurses and doctors (no, not the teenage version), caregivers support their colleagues, providing a sympathetic sounding board and gentle encouragement when times are tough, and motivating and inspiring people to give there all at all times.
Storyteller - anyone familiar with The HP Way or the origins of Apple and Microsoft will recognize the value of constantly telling and re-telling inspirational stories as a way of reinforcing corporate culture. It's clear that this is a comfortable personal for author Tom Kelley since both books quite literally tell a story.
The book is peppered with genuine examples, most of which involve the genesis of familiar but once remarkable products that broke the mold in some way - style, design, functionality, whatever. Some of you reading this may have bought Palm V PDAs, for instance, on the strength of their sleek looks and brilliant user interface - the Graffiti stylus script language so close to English that anyone can pick it up with a few minutes' practice. How many of you appreciate the innovative use of glue instead of screws to bond the Palm V's case together, or the flat-pack lithium batteries inside? Like many other examples, the attention to detail and the multiple overlapping layers of innovation go well beyond the obvious external visual cues. This is innovation-in-depth.
Whether you are interested in applying innovation and creativity to work initiatives or life in general, the IDEO books are inspirational, instructional and fun to read - what a combination. Recommended.
Easy suggestions for increasing innovation.......2007-05-04
Welcome to an enjoyable, easy read - which is not to dismiss Tom Kelley's fine ideas. With the aid of Jonathan Littman, Kelley works throughout this book to show how innovation can be much more painless than most people think, and more fun. Kelley makes thinking collaboratively sound like a blast. In the process, he convinces you that your organization should nurture and cherish playing with ideas. Although he admits that his consulting company, IDEO, found itself grinding along on tedious projects at times, and that he has watched people shoot down perfectly good suggestions, his underlying message is one of open possibility. He presents 10 roles you can play during meetings, any one of which would be enough to add considerable value. By showing that these roles are temporary, he sends the message that if you want to stay competitive, you can change, and even must. As he examines everything from product names to rules governing how workers decorate their cubicles, Kelley demonstrates the many opportunities you have to create something new. The cost is often little or nothing; sometimes innovation simply means getting out of your employees' way. We recommend this book to managers who wish to break old patterns and encourage creative thought companywide.
Inspiring and fun.......2007-04-17
If you want to create an environment where innovation is the norm, what do you do? Tom Kelley doesn't have a prescription, but he does have some people he'd like you to meet. This book is about the roles that people in an innovation driven organization take on to create fresh new ideas on a regular basis.
If you're an individual contributor, this is a very helpful book both to understand the people around you and your own specific skills. What's more, although in some ways Kelley is describing personality attributes, he is also describing skill sets and ways of looking at the world that you can decide to cultivate. No one is going to be excellent at all of these roles- but that doesn't mean you can't strive to be well rounded!
As a manager, the main take-away lesson is that there are many different types of creativity that can reinforce each other if put together. The most important part of building a creative organization may come at the hiring stage, where you can most easily create a mix of the different personas. But if you're in a stable organization, as most of us are, you can use the "ten faces" to identify the different styles of creativity in your people, and use that information to form teams and projects to bring out their best.
The book is very heavy on anecdote and example. Every one of the ten personas has several stories that illustrate how such an approach can generate ideas that otherwise wouldn't have been considered. The Anthropologist will put themselves in the place of the average user or consumer, as did a woman who faked a pregnancy to see how she would improve the birthing experience at a major hospital. The Experience Architect will take a commodity service and turn it into a show that customers will enjoy for its distinctiveness, like the ice cream "cooking" at Cold Stone Creamery.
The persona that I found most intriguing, and perhaps also furthest from my own, was the Set Designer. Kelley believes strongly in the power of space to shape the minds of those who inhabit it, and just reading about some of the things that go on at IDEO is enough to make my own cube - which I had thought very nicely decorated - seem drab and uninspired.
"The Ten Faces of Innovation" is not a good book to read if you want to know exactly how to change your company, but it is an excellent resource for spotting the early creative behavior every innovator should want to encourage in their team.

Worth Its Weight In Gold!.......2007-09-22
Sugarman really knows his stuff and he presents it excellently! Not only did I enjoy reading this book but applying the concepts I have learned in both my print ads and presentations I have increased my sales and will continue to do so in the years to come. I heartily recommend Triggers and Advertising Secrets of the Written Word to any businessman wishing to improve his or her bottom line.
Mind Control.......2007-07-21
The book has enough tips to control your prospect's mind. But the best part is the prose. It almost reads like a fable. I await a Sugarman novel.

Triggers never fail!.......2007-04-05
This is another amazing book by Joe Sugarman. I
have followed him for a while and this is one of
my most favorite books by him. I use it to get
some good ideas when I write emails to send to
my list. I highly recommend this one.

No look inside.......2007-02-22
Did not purchase.....there was no look inside to see if it was what I was looking for
This book is only for those who want to sell more..........2006-10-17
Are you a person who wants to sell a product or a service?
If so, I heartily recommend this book.
This book is for rank beginners and seasoned pro's. For beginners, it is an excellent introduction to the world of sales. For the seasoned pro, it is an excellent checksheet to make sure that all the bases are covered before going into that "big deal".
This book is a book about "sales think". That is, how to think in terms of making sales.
Also, this book is easy to read and because it is easy to read, I can easily imagine that some people might "skim" right through it and totally miss the incredible depth that is contained within this book.
For example, sales people know that people buy based on emotion not logic. Yet, sales people everywhere continue to use logic to sell. Why do they do this? It's because they don't know how to create emotion. My point is, on page 64 Mr. Sugarman shares a portion of an ad that he wrote. Within it is embedded the secret to creating emotion that sells.
I'll wager that the few people who've given this book a poor rating never even saw the real message and the real depth of this book.

I never knew about any of this!.......2007-10-21
I love it when a book comes along that points out web site functions I never realized existed. This book packs a lot of information into a compact read, which makes it easy to get through but steers you in exactly the right marketing direction. The way he assigns ratings to the various marketing techniques helps one decide what to tackle first.
A solid looks at the basics.......2007-10-14
As the author of the recently self-published Hokie Games: Virginia Tech Football Game by Game 1945-2006 I devoured the contents of this book to try to jump-start my Amazon sales. I can't speak to the results just yet as the portion of the suggestions that I have implemented has only been in place for a week or so.
In fact, part of the appeal of the book is that it's not supposed to show results yet. It's not a quick "make you book an instant Amazon bestseller" plan. The book has tips and techniques that grow your presence over the long haul. That's exactly what I was looking for and this book delivers.
The steps were easy to follow and the "why's" were well laid out. Obviously, the author did his homework on the subject of Amazon.
--Rich Tandler, author of Hokie Games: Virginia Tech Football Game by Game 1945-2006
Great asset for POD authors.......2007-09-23
When I purchased this book, I was really quite skeptical. I figured that it was just a promotion of Amazon.com and not really any useful advice.
Then my wife and I published our first children's book, Santa and Sam's Big Secret through Outskirts Press. Although OP did a wonderful job of publishing the book, the major portion of publicity for the book was left up to us. We have been following some of the advice offered by Brent Sampson and we do believe that it is helping with the promotion of our book.
Sell Your Book on Amazon is an easy read. You can easily skip over chapters that you do not feel interest you, and still come up with many ideas that will help you to promote your book.
I would recommend this book to any authors who are using a Publish On Demand publisher. It will surely enhance the sales of your book.

Buy this book if you want to sell books too!.......2007-09-12
I wrote a book called, "Letters to My Friends: A No Guarantees Guide to Awakening." It took three years to write. I spent another year sending it to publishers before I finally found a small publisher willing to work with me.
The Great Day came. I held my baby in my hands. I knew the world would proclaim her beauty. I was wrong, very wrong. A few friends and friends of friends bought the book. I was stunned and hurt too. But I kept trying to market my book the old fashioned way. I contacted the major book chains. To them I did not exist. I sent over 100 books to bookstores, and I never got a single order. I sent about 100 books to major newspapers, and I never got a single review.
One local bookstore, New Renaissance Bookshop in Portland, Oregon was very helpful. But the support of one local bookstore was not enough. I was almost ready to give up, but instead I went to Amazon and joined the Amazon Advantage program. I sold perhaps 20 books. Victory at last! Amazon loved me and I loved Amazon! And then I did not sell another book on Amazon for about a month.
I was ready to give up. But I knew my book could help readers feel better about themselves. I had received dozens of touching letters that left me feeling happy that something I had done made a difference in the world. Besides, I needed the money. Family illnesses had depleted my bank account and my debt was mounting. So, instead of quitting, I did an Amazon search for books on marketing books, and I found, "How to Sell Your Book on Amazon," by Brent Sampson.
I wish I had found this book a year ago. If you have a book you are trying to sell, or if you want to write a book, buy this book. Unless you are that rare writer who pens a bestseller, you will find yourself alone in a big jungle. Amazon gives you a path out of the jungle, and Brent Sampson's book is the guide.
Honestly, I have just started implementing his suggestions. So I have lots of work to do. After I finish this review, I will ask him to be my Amazon friend. I might ask him to review "Letters to My Friends: A No Guarantees Guide to Awakening." He said to mention my book as often as possible without being obnoxious. And finally, he said Amazon friends are important. You see, if you become my friend, whenever anyone goes to your Amazon profile and clicks on my picture in your Friends section, there's a chance I will sell a book. And if someone clicks on your picture in my Friends section, you might sell a book. So, do you want to be my friend? Good heavens, I feel like a little kid again.
I will make a deal with you. In a year, I will write another review of "Sell Your Book on Amazon" and let you know how I am doing. Thank you, John C. Conley, author of "Letters to My Friends: A No Guarantees Guide to Awakening."
