Great resource.......2007-09-29
Just getting into the book selling biz. I have been going through cancer and now need a job where I can tailor my hours around all of my doctor's appointments. I like both this book and the Stephen Windwalker books. Very good information without alot of extraneous stuff.
Great Book.......2007-09-25
This a great book to help those interested in selling books online. It is very bold of Mr. Weber to enpower the competition. But it is a very smart book that will help those motivated to help themselves. I recommend it to all interested in getting online selling books.
The Home-Based Book Store.......2007-09-17
Very good book for the person who is contemplating entering this type of business. Seemed to cover most of the bases. If he didn't and I do actually go into business, I guess I'll find out pretty quickly. But, overall, since I've read a few other books dealing with this topic, I feel the author covered the subject matter well and I would recommend the book to others.
AWESOME.......2007-08-27
This is a fantastic book chock full of information. I've already started using some of his suggestions and am looking forward to having my own online used book store.
Home based book store reveiw.......2007-07-03
We are established home-based booksellers. When my husband bought this book I thought it would be to basic for us but I was pleasantly surprised. It was full of great and useful information. It would be a tremendous book to have BEFORE you set up your business. I think this would be helpful for anyone at any level that is selling books on the internet.

Outstanding Resource!.......2007-09-23
While I was a bit skeptical about making such a purchase, thinking it was only going to be a reiteration of common sense, this book totally surprised me. It contains tips on just about anything a person considering starting their own business might wonder about and need to know from what type of name to use, to how to organize the business legally to how to best design business cards. I'm extremely impressed!
This is a great buy!
1 + 1 Can equal 5.......2007-06-29
If you are considering starting your own business, you probably already know that there is great opportunity for those who manage lay the proper ground work. Rieva has done an excellent job with this book. However, as one of my developer clients once said "Sometimes the best way to make money building a new building is to start with a great deal on an old building. Buy Rieva's Book. Do your homework. Look to see if you can reduce your start up cost with a well designed acquisition. And don't rule out getting a great deal on a business (or some of its assets) from a Chapter 11. Get a copy of Chapter 11 Business Reorganizations: For Business Leaders, Accountants And Lawyers.
It helping a novice!.......2007-06-27
Now I've taken a few business courses in college (accounting 101, Micro and Macro Economics, Statistics, etc), but I knew that starting a business would take some extra knowledge.
This book was an excellent reference for me. My particular business didn't fit the normal idea of a business, but the book still helped me explore both the direction that I wanted to go and the direction I wasn't going; just to make sure that I considered what I was doing in an objective manner.
I really appreciated this book in starting up my business, and it will surely get used as my business grows.
I liked how many different chapters there were, because it helped me to easily find answers to my questions.
Thorough, through and through........2007-05-19
This book is really thorough. I started my quest for information with the Dummies Retail Business Kit. That book was also really helpful, and a great introduction. I found Start Your Own Business to be a lot more informative and helpful than the Business Kit book, but I worry that if I had started with it, I would have been initially overwhelmed. There is a LOT of information. Unfortunately I still need more information that is specifically geared to the retail business, as this book is more broad. But VERY helpful.
Not quite ready to start a business but want to know more about business?.......2007-05-02

Customer Reviews:
Medical Claims and Transcription.......2007-01-22
The book arrived in excellent condition and in the time it was promised.
I would order from this seller again.
Vague on Medical Claims Billing/Transcription, but valuable for starting a business in general........2006-09-08
After much anticipation, I received my Start Your Own Medical Claims and Transcription Business book; however, I was sort of disappointed. The aspects of starting a business was outlined beautifully, but what this book was missing was the information that was stated on the title. There are little references throughout the book that go into some detail about medical claims and transcription, but failed to go into any major detail. The money that I spent was not a total loss, there were some very good points in the book. For the money, it is worth it, but do not think that after reading it that you will be ready to quit your day job and start your own.
On my way to self employment.......2006-02-25
This book was just the thing I needed. I recommend it to anyone and everyone who is considering a business venture of their own. It was so helpful.
It is bulleted for you to be able to do a step by step so that you dont get lost or confused when starting your business. It is informative, uplifting, it motivated me, it gave me the incentive and it gave me the courage to know I could do it.
So far Im moving forward and by summer will be employed for ME! MYSELF! and I!
I have dreamed of being a business owner and yes it is happening. Not all the credit goes to the book because you have to have the will and the desire to go after this and you have to really want it, but the book has taken all of that and made it possible. Im very happy with this purchase and can say that if you are thinking about being your own boss. This will be the best investment you make.
Good outline for billing business.......2005-10-24
This book is a good general outline and business reference for anyone considering starting a business. The book focuses on sound general business information applicable to any business and it's owner. What to do and how to market a business, the tasks and research involved. The old adage of fail to plan - plan to fail, comes to mind. The book also has more information for transcription than claims (I think claims was an afterthought), but it discusses process for medical billing and some resources and references that may prove useful. A good general reference book for a claims biller or transcriptionist. However, this book will not give you the training or experience you will need to bill medical claims confidently.
Not detailed enough.......2005-02-13
As founder and developer of a unique medical transcription company, EchoScribe Inc, I know what it takes to start a transcription company. This book comes short intoo many places. Details are lacking and not for the beginner nor the advanced transcriptionists that wants to start their own company. In fact, come to our website directly to see how we may help you start your own company. Our careers section www.echoscribe.com/careers.asp has many interesting options.

This book will tell you everything you need to know to get started in the lawn care business.
Customer Reviews:
Great starter book.......2006-02-27
I will use this book as the go to information source in making my business grow. Love it.
Good book........2004-07-28
This book gives you a lot of great information that a lawn care operator would not think about when starting up a business. It takes a lot more than a push mower and a trimmer to make money in this business and this book lets you know what a professional in this occupation does. This is not a book that tells you how to cut grass, fertilize, ect. It deals with what it takes to run a lawn care business and it has a pricing list, checklists, etc. that helps you calculate your start up costs. Good book.
LESS THAN I EXPECTED.......2003-03-02
THE BOOK WAS VERY SHORT AND DID NOT EXPAND VERY MUCH IN A LOT OF IMPORTANT AREA'S...THIS COULD OF ALMOST BEEN A START UP BOOK FOR ANY TYPE OF SMALL SERVICE BUSINESS. I WAS VERY DISAPPOINTED IN THE FACT THAT SEVERAL OF THE ORGANIZATIONS LISTED WERE EITHER NO LONGER FUNCTIONING OR NEVER DID. THE CONTACT NUMBERS AND WEB ADDRESSES ARE ALL DEAD ENDS. THE BOOK DID HOWEVER HAVE GOOD POINTS ON OUTLINING THE START OF YOUR BUSINESS (HOWEVER GEARED FOR SOMEONE WITH A LOT OF MONEY TO START). I ALSO THINK THE BOOK BARELY TOUCHED UPON THE AREA'S OF HOW TO ATTAIN LICENSE'S AND PERMIT'S. OVERALL I WAS DISAPPOINTED BUT IT WAS NOT A TOTAL LOSS, I LEARNED A FEW THINGS THAT I WILL PROBABLY USE IN THE START UP OF MY BUSINESS.
Book Description
This comprehensive handbook, part of Entrepreneur magazine's highly successful StartUp series, guides you through the steps of setting up and operating a pet-sitting business, covering both the business fundamentals and the specialized knowledge required for animal care and handling. Start Your Own Pet Sitting Business focuses mainly on dogs and cats, the most popular pets, but also covers barn animals and exotics.
Customer Reviews:
Disappointing..........2007-07-17
I had such high hopes for this book but was disappointed. It gives only a broad overview of pet-sitting and is absent of many specific, helpful details. If you are truly looking to start a pet-sitting business, I would pay a little higher price for a more thorough book!
Lot's of great information.......2007-07-06
I have been reading several books on how to start up a pet sitting business and this book was an excellent resource. I highlighted several key bits of information and incorporated them in my "TO DO" list. I highly reacommend this book.Start Your Own Pet Sitting Business (The Startup Series)
Easy Read How To Book.......2007-03-08
This book is very easy to read, clear, concise, and answered many questions regarding the Pet Sitting business. The reading experience was pleasurable.
Scared me to death.......2007-01-09
I only was interested in doing this PT and it was geared for a FULL time business. Insurance etc. etc. If a pet should die. WOW too heavy. Made me decide not to go onward with this hobby.
Fantastic Resource.......2006-02-16
I purchased this book back in early 2005 and it has been a wonderful resource.
I highly recommend this book - it will point you in the right direction on things to think about when setting up and marketing your service.
It has helped me start and build a successful pet sitting service.

Customer Reviews:
Misleading at best and in dire need of a new titled.......2007-08-23
This should be titled, How to Make Money Producing Free Junk Magazines. Most of the folks I know in the publishing industry would love to see a down to basics intro to publishing, ie, the printing lingo, developing relationships with authors, editing tips, detailed layout advice, etc. This book is about producing, not publishing. Moving units of advertising, not creating something worthwhile to read or engage the public. This is a get-rich-quick book that belongs in the business section and has not place near publishing/literature reference.
Good, but...........2007-03-20
This book has a lot of great information in it and will be useful for anyone who wants to start publishing.
HOWEVER, this book is by far the most poorly edited book I have ever read. Punctuation mistakes ABOUND and it is obvious that standards were not very high for publication of this book.
Buy it for the education and look at it as what NOT to do when publishing a book or magazine.
Tons of Great Information.......2007-03-09
This is a great asset if you are thinking about publishing your own magazine. There is a wealth of information for the publishing novice. A little advice - buy this book some time before you plan to publish your magazine so that you can digest the information.
Covers circulation, readership, proposal writing, optional publication formats, niche markets and more........2006-10-07
If you're thinking of starting a home-based publishing business, you can't be without Publish Your Own Magazine, Guidebook or Weekly Newspaper: it tells how to not just publish a winning title, but how to make it profitable - with no money up front. All kinds of successful periodicals and what made them tops are reviewed in a title which covers circulation, readership, proposal writing, optional publication formats, niche markets and more.
Bang for your Buck.......2006-03-02
Of the many books that I have purchased on self-publishing, this is one of the better ones. Even though I myself was mostly interested in book publishing rather than mangazines or guidebooks, this book still served me well. It gave a lot of useful tips and pointers as well as information I never thought about. I checked the book out of the library initially, but I want my own copy.
This book gives you step by step details on how to enter the publishing field on a tight budget. It gives you an abundance of resources. Some of those include:
* Starting out with little cash (and how he did it)
* Trade secrets necessary to pick winning publications
* How to hire the people you need (at a price you can afford)
* How to save money on printing
* Reproducible Business Forms
This is a great book to include in your self-publishing library. It does cover alot of areas, but I don't usually complain when someone gives me more bang for my buck.

Book is O.K........2007-06-11
This book was O.K. There were many ideas to choose from but only a few good ones. Plus, there isn't much information on each business. You could find more ideas and a lot more information for free on the Internet.
outdated.......2007-03-30
Book is now outdated. Is a good reference or starting point for the novice. Good introduction to where things have come from... Things have changed quite a bit since publication as they tend to do on the net.
101 Internet Businesses You Can Start from Home.......2005-10-12
Waste of Money...Don't buy this book its completly outdated and not a single business in 101 business listing is practical in today's life
More comprehensive than similar titles........2002-06-20
If you've ever dreamed of owning your own business but don't want to be tied down to a brick and mortar building, then this is the book for you. Starting an Internet business could not be easier with the help of the information provided. The book starts with interview information from three successful Internet businesses and then follows that with how to get your point across, the various formats for a storefront, required features of the successful storefront, payment options, and levels of e-business. From there it moves to helping determine what is important to you and how to use that to find the right business for you. From there it moves to the profiles of successful businesses. These profiles are complete with how to market the business, startup costs, skills needed, online examples, etc. It finally concludes with information on how to build your site, get it submitted to search engines, e-mail marketing, using links and pretty much just about everything that you need to know in order to get the business up and running.
Susan Sweeney, the owner of an international Internet firm, has produced a very thorough and easy to understand book. Probably the best book available today on starting an Internet business from scratch, it is a highly recommended read.

This book tells everything a person needs to know to start a successful gift basket business, including how to identify target markets, develop an effective marketing plan, find and build relationships with suppliers, and keep good business records.
Customer Reviews:
Not Too Involved.......2005-07-31
This book didn't go too in depth at only 122 pages, but this would be a good book for someone just toying with the idea of starting a gift basket service. It would help a person decide if this business was right for them. Also, there were quick tips on almost every page that I thought were helpful and informative.
A good start.......2005-07-19
This book is a good start for people wanting to launch a basket service. It gives the reader tips and warnings from people who are already in this business. I like the format.

Start Your Own Senior Services Business Review.......2007-02-24
I felt that this book contained valuable basic information that would get you on the road to starting a senior services business. This book gave a number of ideas; such as daycare, concierge, and relocation services, and explained them in detail.
I would recommend this book to anyone who would like to gain a basic understanding of the types of senior-oriented businesses and what is entailed when trying to start one up.
Vague but informative.......2007-02-13
The book was full of a lot of good senior business ideas. However it was kind of vague on the (how-to) business information.
Highly recommended for anyone considering setting up in the field........2006-12-09
Sponsored by Entrepreneur Magazine, Start Your Own Senior Services Business: Your Step-by-Step Guide to Success is a no-nonsense source of ideas and practical strategies for getting a potentially lucrative business up and running, especially in the modern era of aging baby boomers. In addition to general advice for serving seniors, running a senior care service and developing one's plan, chapters look in-depth at operating an adult day-care service, relocation service, home care and home health-care service, concierge service, transportation service, and travel service. The final portion of Start Your Own Senior Services Business is packed heavily with tips, tricks, techniques, and vital tidbits for everything from how to set up a dependable team to financial matters to when things go wrong. Perhaps the most valuable piece of advice is the warning not to take every job offered, especially not ones that are beyond one's technical skills or expertise - better to refer those to another, who may well return the favor in the future. Quite Thorough.......2007-02-14
Mr. Stephenson covers pretty much everything related to starting your home-based business. I don't know that there is another book on the market with even a fraction of the useful worksheets and resources he includes. I highly recommend this book for anyone contemplating a step-by-step guide to starting a business.
Excellent Book.......2006-11-03
This book covers just about everything from organizing your desk to creating and implementing your business. The only downfall I saw that it did not cover bookkeeping of your business. It talked about finding capital and payment options but no accounting.

Even though I've operated my business from home for over 3 years, I found this book very helpful and it provided lots of valuable money saving tips, as well as lots of ideas for how I can expand my business using easy promotional ideas.
