Book Description
When they were first released in the 1980s, Janet Woititz's groundbreaking works, Adult Children of Alcoholics, Struggle for Intimacy and The Self-Sabotage Syndrome, provided a new message of hope to adult children who had grown up in the shadow of alcoholic parents. Their message today is as profound and timeless as it was two decades ago. Now, in this complete collection, readers will learn again the insight and healing power of Janet Wotitiz's words. The Complete ACoA Sourcebook is a compilation of three of Dr. Woititz's classic books, addressing head-on the symptoms of The Adult Children of Alcoholics syndrome and providing strategies for living a normal life as an adult. Readers will find help for themselves: at home, in intimate relationships and on the job. They will discover the reasons for the way they think, believe and feel about themselves; ACoAs often feel isolated, have difficulty in relationships, in the workplace and in feeling good about themselves. Readers who are familiar with Woititz's work will find wisdom once again in this classic collection. Those new to ACoA will gain fresh insight into their behavior patterns and find an avenue for self-love and healing. Noted ACoA expert Dr. Robert Ackerman, author of the best-selling Perfect Daughters and Silent Sons, provides a foreword and explains why Janet Woititz's message will continue to help millions of readers for generations to come.

Always wondered?.......2007-06-08
I'm 60+ years old and always wondered why in certain areas of my life I seemed to be just a 'cog off' in many of my thoughts and reactions to life. This book was one 'ah-ha' after another. I had worked through many of the 'glitches' on my own but it was a good feeling to finally understand from where they had come. Not in a blaming way, just in an understanding way. I would recommend it to anyone from an alcoholic family who 'wonders' why they react in ways that are not 'the norm' and have needs that they have spent a lifetime trying to fill without being able to.
Clarifies tendencies of Adult Children.......2007-01-14
Although this book was helpful, I also recommend "Life-skills for adult Children" by Janet Woititz, because this book is thin and contains specific advice.
Valuable Analysis.......2006-02-02
This was one of the most informative and helpful books I've read on the subject. It helped define the specific issues all ACOA's face and yet may not have realized were related to the experience.
I'd highly recommend this book to all ACOA's and all of their family, friends or lovers that want to understand their loved one.

Trying to find Work from Home Jobs-Don't Use this Book.......2006-09-19
My best friend bought this book for me in hopes that I could find a work from home job, as I am totally disabled and cannot
work outside my home. I went thru each page carefully, sent emails to companies that only had emails, never receiving one single response, I visited websites that were listed and found that they no longer existed or were for sale and then I sent via
US Mail letters of interest to companies that only had street addresses listed, and every one of them (15 in all) came back to
me 'address unknown'. If you really, seriously need to find a job or a business to work from home, this is NOT the book for you.
All you need to know is probably in here.......2006-03-31
This book contains valuable information and gives great ideas that make you think outside the box. I didn't realise how many options I have to find a satisfying job that I can run from my home on flexible time. The Work-from-home Sourcebook has been very helpful. I'd highly recommend it!
The only work-at-home "list" I recommend.......2005-05-17
Many who want to work-at-home are looking for "The List" of companies to which they can sign up and get paid. These lists are often full of scams and if they aren't, are usually worthless because these companies may not be hiring. But, for the person who is determined to get a list, Lynie Arden's Work-At-Home Sourcebook is the best. It provides companies with business opportunities and home employment programs. Companies can be searched by type and location (many only hire locally). Compared to the questionable "lists" this is the most thorough and researched compilation of work-at-home programs. It also provides some information on working at home and telecommuting. Its a good resource for the work-at-home wannabe but don't be surprised if you don't find a job. Many jobs have specific requirement and simply because a company uses home workers doesn't mean its currently hiring.

Gunsmithing.......2006-11-06
Had lots of info about brazing, soldering and welding limitations and application. Just what I was looking for.
kRoy Dunlap Gunsmithing.......2006-08-10
This book is okay. I bought it after buying several others and it has added to my knowledge about some guns and techniques. Not a bad book at all but it could use some better and more frequent illustrations in my book.
one of the best books on this subject.......2003-12-05
I agree with other reviews that this book is a bit outdated looking at subjects like modern semi- and full-automatics. But this book is very well written indeed and a must have without a doubt for every learning and experienced gunsmith and or smaal arms designer. I have a lot of books on this subjects and this one one of the very best on my shelf. Absolutely advisable!
A Keeper.......2003-01-28
My Dad and I shot with Roy in my preteen years. I was impressed with him as a shooter then, and as a gunsmith now. Someone mentioned "out of date" photos and dead authors. This issues are NOT relevant, as the knowledge encompassed in the book are not dependent on photos......
This book is a necessity in the library of any good riflesmith.
Excellent! Written in laymen's language, good material........1999-10-02
One of America's best gunsmiths, Mr Dunlap covers trouble shooting and repairs for many firearms as well as custom building. This book is a wealth of technical information. I thoroughly enjoy his witty prowse and common sense approach.

A good "idea" book, but short on local job availabilities.......2004-04-24
If you are in dire straits and are hoping and dreaming that this book solve you financial situation, I urge you to borrow it from the library first so that you at least can read it for free the first time.
If you like it only then buy it. There is some good info. in it, but except for some survey work (which I declined because they required a two--or three-day training period out of state) I certainly never found any local jobs with it. And most featured in the book did require a certain degree of education and experience, or you already had to be employed by the company, like 3M or similar, and then go about getting the job internally. The last ones are probably never advertised.
And the "opportunities" to "work at home" and get "easy pay" that you see in the local rag, stapled to electrical poles, in the classifieds and the multi-level marketing schemes inflicted upon you by people you know are only opportunities to make others rich and you poorer.
I should know. I looked and looked and looked on my late elderly mother's behalf, and I wasted a lot of time & money on her behalf too.The people responsible for such misrepresentation are the scum of the earth, for they give false hope to those who already feel hopeless and afraid.
I'd suggest looking up the company name at Rickross.com and also the Better Business Bureau before investing your time or money. You'll never get the former back, and probably not the latter either in my experience.
If your state or local government has an official Job Service chances are there have far better jobs listed at their website and a lot more of them as well. Speaking from personal experience, if you can put together a well-crafted resume, (our job service will do it for you for free) or even if you simply use the template for one in MS Works or similar, it will put you head and shoulders above the masses. And there are even occasional work-at-home ones listed there too.
I guess if you're really hard up for money and can get away for a while, there's always crab fishing in the Bering sea off of Dutch Harbor, Alaska. Just keep in mind that even though you might make 30K for five days' work, there's a reason it's considered the most dangerous job in the world
Great Information.......2002-07-26
Frankly, I am surpirsed by the negative comments. It's like people buying a lottery ticket and complaining when they don't win.
I think that this is the most comprehensive book on the subject. Sure, there are not going to be work-at-home jobs in every area of the country -- they are not that easy to come by! And yes, it will probably be somewhat outdated, even before it hits the store shelves. That is the nature of business -- and books!
But all in all, I found the information credible and up to date. Plus it was full of ideas that give you jumping points from which you can start, even if there is not a job available in your area.
I bought the book for my brother who is disabled, and unable to get a "regular" job. I read it before I sent it to him, to be sure I was sending him something worthwhile. I thought the book had some great information, and yes! He was able to find a work-at-home job.
Be forewarned, work-at-home jobs are not always easy to come by. You (gulp!) actually have to qualify (!!) for the position, and in many cases, you must live near the company. If you ACTUALLY think that you can make money from home stuffing envelopes (or some other "easy" sounding job) from home, and send off [some] bucks to get the "position" be prepared to be out [money]. On the other hand, if you're looking for a real work-at-home job, and not some scheme, this book is a great starting point.
Had some useful information and ideas.......2001-10-05
I did not actually contact any of the companies listed in the book, but the book was helpful for me in my work at home solution. It gave me several ideas on different things that can actually be done from home. Some of the actual businesses listed in the book do only hire local residents and unfortunately they were not in my state. It did give me some encouragement and ideas in my search. I did think that the book was helpful for me.
Not What I Expected.......2001-08-22
I was looking for a book to give me some sort of a list of companies that would hire home-based workers and thought I had found it in this book. When I finally recieved the book, it was completely NOT what I was looking for. Sure it had a list of companies, but the positions I qualified for were in far away places where I had to become a 'local resident'. Then when I did find that "one in a million" company that you could be located anywhere, the company was either out of buisness or no longer hiring homeworkers. I am so glad that I was able to buy this book where I could return it instead of through these [...] websites where I'd have to get a lawyer just to get my [money] back. I am extremely dissappointed in this book and hope others don't make the same mistake that I did in purchasing it.
Outdated Information.......2001-05-21
It seems that every edition of this book has contained seriuosly outdated information. I guess they are selling copies since they keep cranking out new editions. Very Disappointing.

And, when it comes to selecting fabrics for upholstery, drapes, pillows-anything to do with textiles-fabric swatches are the necessary equivalent. Featuring more than 400 fabric patterns, the book includes vintage and contemporary selections from the largest textile library in the United States. The swatches are organized by pattern type, everything from stripes and polka dots to paisleys and conversational prints. In addition, the book features informative text describing the origins of and typical uses for each pattern type. With a user-friendly, "small-and-chunky" format, Swatches will serve decorators, designers, and anyone interested in pattern as an invaluable resource. AUTHOR BIO: Dorsey Sitley Adler and Robert D. the difinative source book.......2000-06-24
This book is great not only for someone who is just getting started in decorating but, also for the professional as a referance. It is broken down into six basic catagories; Style guide, Fabrics. Wallpapers, Paints and Finishes, Tiles, and Flooring. Judith Miller does an excellent job of giving a wealth of information about not only different periods but also what textiles lend themselves to these periods. I was not to impressed with the paints and finishes section however. I really liked the organization by image (ie fabrics with flowers) and style period rather than fabric type or colors. The variety is amazing. The best part of the book is that she gives you the info to find all of the textiles! Including the maker, if other colors are available, and estimated price. This is great, other style books generally do not give you half of the wealth of information that is book does. I couldn't wait to get started.

the best book on the subject.......2006-09-02
I have many books on this subject
and this is exactly what i was looking for when i typed the word poisons in the search engine it is neither too scientific nor too simple "the best book on the subject" If this book doesn't live up to your expectations i do not believe there is another book that can give you more info on so many poisons.

In my view, no home can skip this one - the information in it can save your life, or the lives of your loved ones or pets. It is arguably a form of cultural insanity that industrial civilizations constantly bathed by free and clean energy from the sky (the sun and the wind) continue to depend upon dirty and limited chemical fuels that poison the people, their foods, and the land upon which they depend.
Happily, this comprehensive sourcebook provides those of you with foresight a way out of this madness; it includes products ranging from simple energy-saving devices such as compact fluorescent lights to home-scale energy-harvesting systems that utilize the sun, wind, and water to make electricity for people living "off-the-grid." Chapters focus on Independent Living, Land, Shelter, Harvesting Energy, Managing Energy Systems, Heating and Cooling, Water, Energy Conservation, the Nontoxic Home, Home and Market Gardening, Mobility and Electric Vehicles, and Livelihood and Learning. Committed to selling only products that promote environmental responsibility at an honest value, The Real Goods Trading Company is one of the fastest-growing companies in America. Many of the products listed in another of our favorites, the Millennium Whole Earth Catalog, can be purchased by mail from Real Goods.

'Must' read on solar and alternate life style power.......2007-01-18
After many years of planning, we built our solar efficient home from scratch (4.5 kw of PV, & batteries off-grid, and thermal radiant heat loops); er, yes, I'm an engineer. This book is a great introductory, up to fairly advanced level. If at all interested in solar photo-voltaics, this is key. site planning, batteries, outputs, setting up a energy budget, just about all you need to get started.. after sucking up this book, the next level would be the tech data on Outback Energies web sites, by reading their use and design guids.
The Real Deal.......2003-11-13
This product is great for anyone interested in getting involved in keeping their enviroment healthy. The products and information contained within the pages of this book will guide the novice to the right product choice for their needs. This book is the stepping-stone for a sustainable life in harmoney with nature. At the least this liturature will be informative and enlighten the reader to one's place on earth.
One of the major areas addressed in this catalog is waste management. The average family consumes more than fifty gallons of water a day in toilet water, which must be recycled either through chemical or natural treatment before it can be used by humans again. Another problem caused by human consumption in normal life is garbage. This book addresses both of these issues rationally and offers suggestions to limit and eliminate some of the causes of this enourmouse amount of consumption.
Out of everything consumed by the human population, what we consume the most is energy; we need energy in one form or another to power our vehicles, homes, and to produce the products we use. This book focuses on products that use renewable energy sources the sun, wind, and water. It also informs people that some apliences, even when off, are still eating energy in the form of phantom loads, this can account for twenty-five percent of an energy bill. Addressing this issue can mean a significant savings. This book also offers products that cut energy consumption in half when in use.
Another catagory is enviromental quality of the home and office, ofering healthy cleansers, an alternative to the heath threatening harsh volitile organic compounds commonly found. Features of these products are recycled material and more biodegradeable components.
This catalog offers a large range of products, from construction material, to household essentials, to resource guides and how-to books. It is a great help for anyone who wants a healthy life for their family.
A fair introduction to Alternative energy sources.......2002-11-27
Be aware that this product is 25% information and 75% sales catalog. It provides a brief overview of a particular technology and then presents the reader with many pages of products addressing that technology. Whilst this is a useful introduction to (say) wind generators for home use, $... is a lot of money to charge for a catalog. This book/catalog tries to address everything from passive solar to hydro-electric power generation, but doesn't really do a great job on any of it. Not a bad introduction, but certainly not a "must have' kind of book.
Worth every cent in having understanding of alternatives!.......2000-12-31
At least for anyone looking to cheese off the oil and power companies!! I'm not a bleeding heart, but I do kind of have to live on this planet! If I can do so without mucking it up, well, that's probably a good thing. This book made it easy to clean up at least my own act!
This book has paid for itself a dozen times over in the money I have saved in electrical costs! The tech chapters were over my head, but my electrician understood them and (thank God) was willing to try something new! A fine book!!
A necessary book for all interested in effficient living.......2000-05-26
From novices to pros, this book explains Renewable energy and efficient building practices. Great reference to start design and cost estimation from each section. One of the best features of this book is the addition of the National Electric Code for RE systems. It's possible to pick a building material to build a house, design a solar electric system, decide on appliances, determine the use of a greywater system, and more from 562 pages. No more looking up pages on the net!

Very Eye Opening Book.......2005-08-30
I had heard of some of the things Frasier says in his book, but I also learned quite a bit. The quizzes and suggestions were really helpful in giving me ideas on how I should move forward to protect my family from potential creditors. The book was easy to understand and written in plain English. I would recommend this book to anyone interested in learning how to plan ahead to protect their assets.
Easy to understand and put to use.......2005-08-25
Here's a guy who has done work for the rich and famous and took the time to show the average person how it's done. Very eye opening information and the quizzes and charts really helped me understand how everything ties together!
Great Information Regardless Of Whatever Happened to the Author.......2005-08-24
No matter what may have happened to the author, this book has a ton of great information, advice and suggestions. It makes sense to do the things discussed in the book to help protect yourself from whatever might happen to you. I found the information on family limited partnerships especially helpful.
Roland B. Frasier is a fraud!!.......2005-04-30
I was interested in this book, but before I purchased it I did a little research. Here's what I discovered:
According to the Securities & Exchange Commission, Roland B. Frasier orchestrated and implemented a scheme to manipulate the market in Zandria common stock, among other things. Read the SEC complaint here: http://www.sec.gov/litigation/admin/34-48741.htm.
Another scam orchestrated by Roland B. Frasier: http://myfloridalegal.com/newsrel.nsf/newsreleases/D361C12E9E5CDAAA85256FE00068BFA8.
Based on these findings, I am going to find another book. I would recommend that you do the same.
One of the best on the subject.......2005-01-31
Frasier's book is one of the best I've read on the subject of asset protection. What separates this book from the others is the way Frasier approaches each technique as though it will be challenged in court. In theory, there are dozens of ways to protect assets, but in reality many of these simply don't hold up under scrutiny due to either their complexity or changes in case law which have eroded their protections. Frasier tells it like it is.
