Very good book.......2007-06-06
I own the first book "Power of positive thinking". I can hardly wait to read the other two. At one point in my life I was covered with negative thinking and it drastically affected my actions and situations around me. However, using this book changed my life. I trust in God more now, have more faith in him, and I am much happier today. Also, more people started noticing and they liked the happier, more in control me. Praise God!!
Full of Stories, no real direction.......2007-03-27
The book teaches through others inspirational stories; there is no real teaching on how to have a positive attitude. I was expecting the book to give me steps on how to have a positive out look. It is also a religious book, which I didn't expect when I ordered it.
Excellent Boost!.......2007-01-05
This book is an excellent comprehensive boost for anyone who wants to welcome change and new ways of seeing their world and the issues they may have in relationships, wealth, success and life in general. I haven't finished reading it yet - but have found that even just one page a night before bed does wonders in slowly opening us up to change and positive ways of thinking. It's difficult to do in a world that bombards us at lightening speed with so many mixed positive and negative, draining messages. This is a great way to keep your feet on the ground, mind focused on the important things and even if you aren't religious to explore yourself and spirituality. Like a pocket psychotherapist ;-)
PEALE SOME OFF FOR ME!.......2006-11-18
STILL APPROPRIATE AFTER ALL THESE YEARS. I READ IT 30 YEARS AGO, NOW IT IS HELPING MY SON.
Buy it. NOW........2006-11-04
Easily the best book I've ever bought. If I could rate this book six stars, I would.
Six months ago, I decided to change my life and head for the military. I wanted to be the best and decided to try out for the Rangers, an especially ambitious goal considering my activity level was on par with most vegetables. My friends laughed at me, I bought this book.
Using this book as my motivational guide and Stew Smith's 12 Weeks to BUD/S as my exercise plan, my pushup/run/situp/swim scores absolutely shot through the roof. I have never felt motivation like I felt after reading through Norman Peale's book and if it wasn't for this purchase, I honestly believe I would have abandoned this goal and would still be miserable, sitting on my couch, and playing video games, not out getting in shape for the Rangers.
That was over six months ago now, and am heading off to basic pretty soon with my body ready and my mind motivated.
Thank you Mr. Peale even though you are probably dead, I am a very happy customer and have even bought a couple copies for my friends. The concepts in this book are the best things that have ever happened to me and have absolutely revolutionized my life.
They can revolutionize yours too. All you have to do is buy it and use it.

Advice that remains timeless!.......2007-06-19
THE POWER OF POSITIVE THINKING by Norman Vincent
Peale is one of my favorite books . . . so imagine my delight
when I had the opportunity to revisit it recently as a result
of listening to the taped version.
Best of all: Peale did most of the narration . . . while some
could argue that his speaking voice wasn't the greatest (or at least
at the age when he read this particular version), I enjoyed
it even more so because he was the one doing the reading.
His advice from the book remains timeless; i.e., provided you
can get through some of the parts that might be a little
too religious-based for your particular taste . . . I was
able to do so and so was thus able to enjoy such insights
as the following:
* As you think, so shall you be.
* I don't believe people are born negative thinkers. All babies,
unless they're ill, are positive. Positive thinking is extremely
natural. Unfortunately, some babies are born into negative
households. Since they're very susceptible to their
environment, they absorb the negative impulses and attitudes
around them.
* Create a mental picture of yourself as a success. Hold on
to this picture tenaciously. Since your mind tries to complete
what it pictures, always picture SUCCESS no matter how badly
things seem to be going at the moment. Whenever a negative
thought about your personal power comes to mind, deliberately
voice a positive thought to cancel it out.
* Anger, fear and worry are among the most subtle and
destructive of all emotions. To counteract their power, fill your
mind with good will, forgiveness, faith, and love.
* Each time you feel a surge of anger, ask yourself, "Is this
really worth what it is doing to me emotionally? Do I really want
to make a fool of myself in front of friends or family?
* Practice happy thinking. Make a mental list of pleasant thoughts
and pass them through your mind several times each day. If an
unpleasant thought should enter your mind, immediately stop,
reject it and substitute a pleasant thought.
And, lastly, there was this idea that I do try to practice every day:
* Every morning before rising, lie relaxed in bed for a few minutes.
Let pictures of each happy experience you expect to have that
say, pass across your mind. Savor their joy. such thoughts will
cause events to turn out that way.
There's an excellent Listener's Guide that accompanies THE POWER
OF POSITIVE THINKING.

The world you live in is all in your mind, according to Wharton Business School Professors Yoram Wind and Colin Crook. The Power of Impossible Thinking is a witty and lucid translation of neuroscience research about "mental models"--the deeply ingrained assumptions and images that shape our reality and influence opportunities for success and failure. "Our models are gated communities," say Crook and Wind, who offer a superb crash course on the power and limit of mental models.
The key questions: How do you know when an old model is worn out? How do you avoid "cognitive lock," filtering out information that conflicts with your model? How do you know a new model will live up to its hype? Many of the answers lie in "Mind R&D"--developing an inventory of new and old models and refining your intuition to fit your current reality. These engaging ideas are detailed with portraits of three impossible thinkers (Oprah Winfrey, Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz and Intel's Andy Grove) and vivid examples (The music industry vs. Napster, a French fry cancer scare, O-rings on the Challenger). Wind and Crook make such a brilliant case for new ways of seeing that readers may wish for more coaching to recognize the obsolete models that keep us from changing our minds. --Barbara Mackoff
Book Description
This book is about getting better at making sense of the world...so you can make decisions that respond to reality, not some obsolete model of reality.
Drawing on the latest neuroscientific research and their experience with corporate transformations, Jerry Wind and Colin Crook explain how your mental models stand between you and reality, distorting all your perceptions...and how they create both limits and opportunities.
You'll learn how to develop new ways of seeing...how to keep your mental models fresh and relevant...when to change to a new model...how to build a portfolio of models...and improving your models through constant experimentation.
Better mental models = smarter decisions
How people get "stuck," and what to do about it
How obsolete mental models keep you from making changes
The neuroscience of mental models
What scientists can teach us about perception-and reality
Creating new models
Practical ways to see things in new ways-fast
"Wind and Crook have written a marvelous book that can teach you how to think more effectively in personal and business settings. Read it and learn!"
Drea Zigarmi Author of The Leader Inside: Learning Enough About Yourself To Lead Others and co-author of Leadership and the One Minute Manager
"We like to say, 'See it with your mind's eye.' Wind and Crook show us that our mind is our eye. What we think is what we see, and what we see directs how we act. Not only do the authors make this paradigm clear, but they offer concrete and practical ways to change our mind's eye and as a consequence change our actions and the results we get. The value of that is hard to top."
J. Stewart Black, Ph.D. co-author of Leading Strategic Change and Professor, University of Michigan Business School
"I have been trying to explain why Japan has fallen into a pitfall and cannot come out of even the simplest problems. One can call it an innovators dilemma, but that does not solve the problem. This book suggests we have to go back to the basics of reviewing our underlying 'mental models' now and then, and only then, have to construct a new model, perhaps plural, and move onto exploring the new terrain."
Kenichi Ohmae Author of the international bestseller, The Borderless World
"While most of us may recognize that the world we respond to is more in our mind than in any physical reality, often we don't have a clue why this is so. This very important book clearly explains how our mental models work to construct these distinct inner worlds. And more importantly it offers empowering advice on how we can use this knowledge to work for us rather than against us in creating a better outer world for ourselves, our organizations, and our societies."
Charles C. Manz Best-selling author of SuperLeadership, Fit to Lead, and Temporary Sanity
"This is an important book that 'makes sense of how we make sense.' The authors provide a thorough, fresh, and compelling exploration into the dimensions of mental models. All leaders who want to be more effective in their actions would be served well to leverage the principles in this book to learn about how they think and make sense of the world around them."
Nick Pudar Director of Strategic Initiatives, General Motors
Customer Reviews:
The only paradigm for problem solving is logic.......2007-06-09
This is an interesting book and might be implemented more effectively by readers who have also read "The logic of Failure," by Dietrich Doerner, which itself was a business bestseller in the 1990s.
Doerner's main thesis is that there are patterns of thought that make failure inevitable, and he runs through a number of entertaining case studies documenting how faulty problem-solving paradigms have resulted in disaster. Doerner also notes that cures for the inability to handle complex situations typically rely on facile theories about the human brain, and that the probability that there is a secret mental trick that at one stroke will enable the human mind to solve complex problems is practically zero.
The psychological determinants of failure go far deeper than faulty mental models or paradigms, and they develop gradually according to a predictable logic. A reader concerned about evaluating the effectiveness of mental models or paradigms will gain much from reading "The Logic of Failure."
A toolkit for shifting your paradigm.......2006-05-28
This book is a great combination of theoritical thinking as well as practical business problems. It examines the discussion on paradigms - which the authors prefer to call 'mental models' and how they constrain your perception of reality. So far, so good. Then they start outlining a practical methodology for changing your mental model, which should enable you to 'think impossible thoughts' meaning in this context, thinking thoughts that were impossible in your previous paradigm. I like the depth of research behind the concept and the academic structure given to the book on a subject that has been much discussed, but manages to give it a new perspective and some practical tools to take away with you.
I spoke with the author and have published extracts of the interview on the HyperThinker Experiment site, so please check it out if you want to hear more from the author himself: http://www.hyperthinker.com/Currentinterviews/tabid/693/Default.aspx.
A worthwhile read and a fascinating look at an issue that affects us all.
The power of viewing and molding your reality..........2006-04-16
It's often the case that our vision of reality is a product of our own mental biases. If you can change the way you look at something, the reality of it can undergo a dramatic shift. This whole subject is explored very well in the book The Power of Impossible Thinking: Transform the Business of Your Life and the Life of Your Business by Jerry Wind, Colin Crook, and Robert Gunther. Very powerful stuff...
Contents:
Part 1 - Recognize The Power And Limits Of Mental Models: Our Models Define Our World; Running The Miracle Mile
Part 2 - Keeping Your Models Relevant: Should You Change Horses?; Paradigm Shifts Are A Two-Way Street; Seeing A New Way Of Seeing; Sift For Sense From Streams Of Complexity; Engage In R&D Of The Mind
Part 3 - Transform Your World: Dismantle The Old Order; Find Common Ground To Bridge Adaptive Disconnects
Part 4 - Act Quickly And Effectively: Develop The Intuition To Act Quickly; The Power To Do The Impossible; Challenging Your Own Thinking - Personal, Business, and Society; What You Think Is What You Do; The Neuroscience Behind Mental Models; Selected Bibliography; Acknowledgments; Index; On The Audio CD
This is one of those rare "business books" that can be applied effectively to both your business and your personal life. The authors examine how our mindsets of situations and events cause us to build our own "reality" about them. The opening example is about how you're walking along a dark street and you hear footsteps behind you. You know the neighborhood recently had a well-publizied crime happen. You're sure that you're about to be the next victim. Fight or Flight... Then you turn and find it's one of your co-workers. The reality of the situation never altered, but "your" reality of the situation has completely changed. These "mental models" are then explored in various realms of business and personal life. For instance, Howard Schultz viewed Starbucks through a completely different mental filter than those who were running the operation. Rather than seeing the company as a seller of coffee, he saw the potential for a complete experience surrounding the act of ordering and drinking coffee. He had to leave the company, start his own operation around that model, and then buy out Starbucks once his vision showed signs of success. The same business environment was open to both Schultz and the owners, but they saw the "reality" in completely different ways...
This is one of the better books I've read that deals with the subject of neuroscience. But rather than just giving examples and citing research, the authors show how this research can be applied to your life in ways that can make a dramatic difference. If you've never explored the "science of the mind", this is a great introduction anchored in practical use. And this might just be the spark that causes you to change the way you look at things, thereby changing your life in ways that seem completely impossible right now...
We Should Invest In Our Mind's R & D.......2006-04-13
"The Power of Impossible Thinking" is labelled as a "business book" and it's very hopeful for those in business, both big and small. But it has tremendous value to everyone, in every aspect of our lives. Our "mental models" determine where we'll go and what we'll do and accomplish, throughout our lives. And, our mental models can limit us in our lives as well. One of the focuses is on the thought process, as it should be. Our thought process is often what hinders us. This book reminded me many times of the perils of stagnation. Mental and attitudinal stagnation. This leads to the oft-times subtle downward spiral of complacency, and just plain getting too comfortable.
The "Power of Impossible Thinking" provides practical and do-able models for the contemporary times we live in. This book is divided into 4 sections: a) The importance of mental models and how they help and hurt us b) how to keep models current and know when to alter or change them, and continuously experiment c) obstacles and ways to over come them, and d) develop intuition and act, concluded by "What You Think Is What You Do."
Two chapters specifically help readers sharpen our mental models and use our perceptions to help us in our lives. What we perceive we can do, and what we actually do, depends on our attitude and perceptions: we bring our own baggage with us. Critical, is recognizing things that keep us in our old models and patterns. When we recognize this, we can change it (chapter 8). Professionally, we are constantly inundated by information. Competition is ever-present, 24 hours a day. Our mental ability to recognize and then act upon change seems more important than ever today. Obviously we are surrounded by constant changes in the interdependent global market place. As the world constantly alters and adapts, we must as well. Recognizing the trends and changes is what is needed to survive and prosper. Examples from the emergence and decline of the dot.coms were noted. So many companies jumped onto the dot.com bandwagon, but there was a purge, and the ones that survived and now prosper, are the ones that adapted and continued to alter their products and services: they recognized the change. Many did not, and went out of business. The Internet has highly become a "mail order" pathway, for viewing and ordering many products.
One way to deal with this among many in this book:
Zooming in and Zooming out:
As multi-tasking becomes more common-place and the market and lifestyle pace increases, the concept of "zooming in and zooming out" is one concept that can make our personal and professional lives easier, more-fulfilling, and more productive. "Zooming in and out" addresses the need to overcome obstacles that now make our our world difficult. These obstacles have always existed for humans. The ability to focus and address details - without letting them bog us down and/or cause us to lose sight of our over-all objectives.
Three contemporary case studies were conducted on people we are familiar with. Oprah Winfrey, Howard Schulz of Starbucks Coffee, and Andy Grove, the former CEO of Intel. All of these people created a product(s). These were created from ideas. This may sound cliche, but it's the way it is. Starbucks: the unique coffee (consumer) experience. Who in the world would think this would work back in the early 1990s? I honestly didn't. Oprah: transforming the influence of the Talk Show by positivity, individuality, over-coming obstacles and awareness. Apple, moving to the ipod.
Oprah Winfrey's case study was quite powerful and moving. She grew up in poor, rural Mississippi, without indoor water and electricity. Raised by her grandmother initially. Abused by male friends and family, and sent to a juvenile detention center at 13. At the start of her career as a co-anchor, she was told she didn't have the looks. The case study reinforces the idea that she became what she's become, not by following or conforming to the mold, but by breaking it. Her Book Club and talk show focus on themes of individuality, empowerment, and achievement.
The "Power of Impossible Thinking" is a contemporary and highly relevant book. It's neuro-science approach tells us how to identify our outdated models, recognize the limits of them, and the benefits and power of changing and utilizing new models. This is a great book that deserves more attention.
Awesome!.......2006-03-17
Excellent book! These guys have it together. This book provides new ways of thinking and troubleshooting problems. If you are in the decision making and problem solving arena, you need this read to help come up with a solution.

Book Description
Bishop Jordan has produced a stellar work that is guaranteed to free the mentally enslaved, acquit the wrongfully charged, and bring healing to the sick. The Laws of Thinking is not a work for the shallow-minded person. It is demanding and challenging. It is neither intended to be used as the basis for unmerited criticism nor as sermon material for the minister having difficulty receiving a fresh work from the Lord. It was created with a very clear aim: to provoke spiritual thought. Bill Gates’ Microsoft, Oprah Winfrey’s Harpo Productions, Stephen Spielberg’s DreamWorks, and even his own Zoe Ministries all began with a thought.
Every invention, university, book, song, business, home, skyscraper, movie, stage play, and baby began when someone chose to think. Nothing happens without thought. Creation did not happen without God’s thought. Bishop Jordan’s first objective is getting you to think.
Customer Reviews:
En-POWER-ing! Beware: Likely not palatable by Fundamentalists.......2007-09-10
I found Bishop Jordan's work so inspiring, enpowering and en-LIGHT-ening (as in shedding LIGHT on one's spiritual nature and relation to God, taking one out of DARKNESS)that I now own both the book and the CD and am working my way through his workbook. (Available from his site.) If the belief system you have chosen will allow you to consider other view-points, that I recommend it highly, (especially for "Rhinos" - ie, entrepreneurs) so as to help manifest God's GOOD in your life. Remember, the validity of your belief system will manifest in its FRUITS.)Sadly, I could see "Fundamentalists" or "Literalists" taking offense at some thoughts expressed in it. One of my favorite parts in the book is when Jordan cites a instance when precisely this happened and a congregation member gasped "Bishop Jordan thinks he's God!" and he replied "NO! God thinks he's ME!"
THE LAWS OF THINKING.......2007-09-09
THE LAWS OF THINKING HAS CHANGED MY WAY OF THINKING I AM MORE POSITIVE NOW. I ALSO SEE THINGS DIFFERENT.
life changing.......2007-05-24
This material will clarify issues that we've looked for answers for, for years and were unable to find It is a must have for anyone that wants a not only better life but a successful life
Classic Bestseller.......2007-05-16
This book can be read ten years from now and still have the same impact on one's live that can be applied to every color shap or fashion's life style. I become encourage immediately after reading and mediadating on the principles of the Kingdom of God in my life. I AM immediately aware of my greatness. Bishop Jordan makes you a firm believer of the word. I AM SUCCESS!!!!!
I like It.......2007-05-14
I love listening to the cd, it's information I already knew but learning to use your own abilities better and with understanding is always helpful. I have always understood the power of my thoughts however, creating a more positive outlook and meditating on the positive as much as I worry (meditate) about the bills or other annoyances is a more productive way of using energy. I think that Bishop Jordan is clear in his delivery and it's merely up to the listener to take heed to the messages and tapping into your own inner being.

Praise for Idea Mapping
"Nast's work in Idea Mapping enables those with creative minds to clearly lay out their thinking process and those who are more process-minded to become creative. If your organization is looking for a pragmatic, step-by-step guide to idea mapping, this is it."

--Stephen C. Lundin, coauthor, FISH!
"This is a book that everyone should read. It's an interactive, thought-provoking book about the brain and learning that will expand your mind. Nast, an accomplished and well-respected instructor, has guided me into a new realm of learning experiences and possibilities. I'm sure you will feel the same upon reading her insightful work."

"The principles Nast writes about in Idea Mapping have become a staple for me over the past fourteen years. I was turned onto the concept of idea mapping in 1992 and have been a student and practitioner ever since. This has absolutely transformed the way I learn, design learning, and prepare for public speaking. I have never been more confident in my recall, knowing the content is nicely tucked away in my brain as it was designed to be. Get ready for a life-changing experience for yourself and those you influence."

1 Map Vs. 50 Pages... I'll take 1 Visually Appealing Map.......2007-08-22
I've been impressed by Jamie Nast and her philosophy of Idea Mapping. I especially like the concept that you can put a complex idea on one page, and Jamie is running with it. I don't know about you, but I'd rather see a business plan on one gorgeous map than 50 droning pages. I'm also happy that Jamie considers software a legitimate venue for mapping (I especially like MindManager, which Jamie endorses at her website). A resource idea mappers at all levels need to checkout.
Should be common knowledge for learners and workers........2007-07-30
Giving the book five stars because I didn't already know everything the book tells you, but feel like I should have. A pretty light read and, I would say, on a 6th grade reading level, but all of the concepts in the book should have been explained to me by teachers in my secondary education.
I have to assimilate volumes of information, and mapping the info out in the manner taught by this book is the perfect way to do it. This use of the technique is only one of the applications described in the book.
Help Put Some Colour Back into the Workplace - and Your Life.......2007-06-08
This is a most accessible book. Almost by stealth, it introduces people to a very powerful personal and business tool. Idea mapping can help put the fun and creativity back into work - and open your mind to a technique to access ideas you didn't know you had.
The book takes an evolutionary approach to teaching mapping. Concepts and rules are introduced, examples given and lessons reinforced - then on to the next concept. Happily it's in plain English, with no business consultant-speak, and is easy to read and comprehend. Rules are introduced at the beginning to help the novice get started - later on these are overturned as experts are encouraged to be flexible and take account of the situations they are in and the purpose of their maps.
The focus is very much on business applications of the tool. Guidance is given on how to approach creativity, strategy definition, planning, preparation for presentations, planning and drafting articles and papers, organising your schedule and even 1-1 meetings with staff.
One of the most powerful applications of idea mapping is in learning and memorising information, books and manuals - whether simply to help retain more for day-day application or for passing professional exams or achieving certification. Maps provide visual clues to aid memory and readers are encouraged to embelish their maps with colour and images to enhance retention and recall.
What really makes the difference here is the inclusion of many real life examples. These are not dusty academic references but actual maps produced by real people to help them achieve more in real life business situations. More examples can be found on the author's website - extending the value of the book.
One of the recurring themes throughout is to consider the purpose of a map before you start it. Often maps will be fast and furious scribbles by way of an instant brainstorm, such as last minute preparation for an imminent meeting. At other times they will be developed with care, full of colour and images, as an aid to learning and recall.
Jamie Nast also introduces us to situations where maps need to be refined, developed and shared - and for which mapping software is a must. Advice is given on how to choose your software, the benefits and concerns and when and how to use.
Elsewhere in the book Jamie also explains how teams can use mapping collaboratively. A software tool is invaluable for such work. As a professional facilitator, I use software idea mapping with my groups. The map is projected onto a wall and ideas are captured, reviewed, restructured and so on interactively until the group are happy. Because the map is captured electronically it can be distributed immediately after the session as a map or exported into a text file, presentation or project plan.
Jamie also gives us a tool to help with group brainstorming. If you have caught the increasing number of articles on 'why brainstorming does not work', you'll know that getting every person to shout out every idea they have is unrealistic. Idea mapping offers a perfect solution where the brainstorm begins with individuals getting their thoughts down on paper before sharing with the group.
As mentioned earlier, idea mapping puts mind mapping firmly in the realm of business. In addition to being a tool to help organisations and teams, it is also a personal tool which managers use to identify and review their personal goals, manage their schedules and prepare their individual plans and presentations. Many of us are becoming increasingly aware of the inter-relationship between work and the rest of our lives (Doh!). There are examples given in the book of how people have assessed their careers and life goals using these techniques.
This book offers real encouragement to people to try the technique and access the creativity and fun they could experience in even the crustiest of workplaces. It's easy to learn following Jamie's well thought out step-by-step guide. Inspiration is offered by the many real life examples included - all of which can be viewed in colour on Jamie's web site. I have come across people at work who have seen mind mapping as something to be used by creative, clever people. You don't have to be clever to use idea mapping but you might become so if you do.
Very little substance.......2007-04-29
This book is yet another example of 15 pages worth of substance spread over 240 pages of fluff. A person would be much better served downloading the trial version of "Mindmanager" software and just following the included tutorial. It will teach you everything this book has to offer in a fraction of the time.
A Very Helpful Book.......2007-02-15
I love this book. It has helped me with my to do lists, teaching classes, taking notes on lectures and with helping my children to study. In my teaching; it has allowed me to keep my notes on one page and then to see the transitions more clearly. When questions are asked I can quickly find my place and give precise answers without flipping through pages of notes. My oldest daughter was struggling with science, but with idea mapping techniques she is able to use her creativeness to map out her study notes and has had more success with her testing. When taking notes on a lecture, I find that I can remember the speaker's points much better than the traditional outline method because it's mapped out in pictures and words.
I really enjoyed the book because the author has the reader participate in each chapter, so by the end of the book you are able to make good idea maps and rarely have to review the book.
What I have learned is a life enhancing skill that I use at work (fleshing out new projects or by doing my performance reviews)and my personal life (helping my children study, teaching, studying my Bible or by mapping "to do" lists).
The book is great; if you participate you will learn. I use idea mapping every day and I believe I am even more creative because of it.
Although I do not use the software suggested in the book, one day I may give it a try when drawing my own idea maps becomes a little tiring or less useful. But that may be well into the future because for now I'm having the best time drawing them out myself.

Simple but effective - keep an open mind.......2007-03-12
Given to the right person at the right time, this book can provide the foundation to self development: a strong mindset and a positive attitude. Peale's approach is simple but effective, even for the nonreligious - keep an open mind and just try it. Any genuine effort will be pleasantly rewarded.
Peale's classic still has a message to deliver.......2006-12-11
If you are looking for a guide to faith-based self-improvement, this book is, well, the bible. In one of the earliest contemporary self-help books, famed clergyman Norman Vincent Peale explains how you can overcome any obstacle, internal or external, through the dynamic combination of the "science of faith" with psychological counseling and modern medicine. He teaches you how to banish the negative thoughts that cause fear and failure, and replace them with "the power of positive thinking." In this warm, faith-based book, first published 1952, he teaches readers his approach to solving problems and accepting yourself. He advocates using the New Testament and prayer to attain peace, happiness, love and success. The catch is, you must be one of the faithful to take full advantage of Peale's Christian teachings. His classic bestseller is more than a warm, if slightly quaint, self-help book. It's a cultural icon, filled with old-time religion and practical examples. We recommend it as a touchstone in this genre. If you want to walk this path, Peale got here first. In fact, many of today's self-development bestsellers have their roots in this book.
Inspiring and uplifting.......2004-08-21
Reading this book has encouraged me to continue seeking inspiration from the Bible. In fact, it has helped me to focus less on the size of my obstacles, and rely more on God. Peale writes with a relentless sense of faith and optimism. Some of his quoted conversations don't sound like the kind of conversations that people (especially men) ordinarily have with each other in the casual atmospheres that he describes, but they drive the point home in a way that it sticks. Every day I read a few pages, and every day I walked away more relaxed, believing that God would see me through whatever challenges he put before me. I have learned not to be so self-critical, and hence feel freed up to socialize and work without the weight of self-doubt and fear of failure. I have not committed Peale's "prescriptions" to memory (there are a few too many to exercise daily), but have instead made it a point to turn to scripture and prayer daily to unload the baggage of doubt, and renew my faith in God's promises. Peale's other books are definitely on my "to-read" list.
don't waste your money..........2004-06-22
If you are looking for a religious sermon and want to pay $10 for it, then buy this book. If you want a more informative book that tells you a little more on how to better control your thinking and make yourself into a more positive person other than "just go to church and pray a lot", this isn't it. Now, don't get me wrong, I AM a religious person and DO go to church, but I wasn't looking for an oversimplified christian message. The description is a little misleading. In fact the title is misleading. It should be "TWO Traits for Maximum Results" ...trait 1 is 'go to church' and trait 2 is 'pray'. And all the real information he covers on these two topics could be covered in a paragraph or two. But then he wouldn't be selling as many copies now, would he?

This book is excellent and has powerful principles to learn and grow by........2007-10-04
Aiman elaborates on why and how the law of attraction works and how one can create vibrations on what he or she wants. This will draw in people possessing similar positive vibrations, i.e., "like attracts like."
Al-Maimani simple to follow steps walk you through the subtle ways of preventing negative vibrations from occurring by default.
I love this book! It is so simple and easy! It really helps put the Law of Attraction into action. I've kept it as a resource and have recommended it to several people that are still trying to figure out the Law of Attraction.
However, all of the material in this book is essentially worthless unless and until a reader makes and then sustains a full commitment to assume 100% responsibility for her or his life.
This book is a terrific guide to creating a successful life. If you want to learn at the feet of the master, you'll pick up this book!
Empower the law of attraction with these simple steps!.......2007-04-09
What a marvelous book! Most books speak of the Law of Attraction and focus simply on `believing you have' and thereby creating the reality you want. Aiman Al-Maimani's book, How to Attract Wealth, Health, Love, and Luck into Your Life Immediately really is a complete manual for activating the law of attraction in your life. The processes he outlines are very simple and also very complete. If you follow his instructions, you will definitely experience real changes in your life. The real key to the power of the positive thinking lies in the power of positive `doing' and Aiman Al-Maimani shows you how. This is book is a must read!

A great tool for achieving your goals.......2006-04-07
You have a job to do and you have been given all the tools necessary to do it. Your job is living a successful life. Most people do not live a successful life. They fail because they do not use all the tools that have been given them. Failure to use all your brain power is like trying to do a job "blindfolded and with one hand tied behind your back."
You cannot afford to handicap yourself. John Kehoe gives you the tools to fully utilize all your brain power.
Studies have shown that at most we use less than 10% of our brain power. You must understand the power of the subconscious mind and how to tap into its power. "What is contained in your subconscious mind, and the experiences you encounter in your life are directly connected to one another."
In almost all areas of your life, you are the problem and you are the solution. Read this book, study and put into practice the concepts contained in this book and you will greatly change your life for the better.
The book is easy to read and understand. The concepts are very straightforward.
If you are really going to succeed in life, you must learn the concepts in this book and incorporate them into your life.
This book will change your life!.......2005-07-31
John does a fantastic job of systematically taking step by step on how you can change your life by exercising power over your thoughts.
No New Info - A Mishmash Rehash of Old ideas.......2005-03-30
I fail to see why there are so many rave reviews. All this is is a break down of other peoples techniques and ideas. There is a small chapter on affirmations, dreams, intuition, visualization, beliefs, etc. There is no plan on how to use the techniques at all. I recommend Wayne Dyer. Any of his books will give you a much better plan on how to improve your life
Mind power made simple.......2003-11-09
Mind Power serves as a practical guide on how to harness the considerable powers of your subconscious mind in order to fully embrace your creativity and become a happier, more integrated individual.
Faithfully following these practices will lead to the ability to mentally heal oneself, to become wealthier through cultivating a prosperity consciousness and to build and maintain healthy relationships.
Kehoe discusses the working of the subconscious mind, the use of affirmations, intuition and dreams, the function of beliefs and how to imprint them.
I found the chapter on cosmology particularly interesting as it deals with the theories of David Bohm, Karl Pribram and David Peat, integrating the cutting edge research of these pioneering scientists and making it accessible to improve our everyday lives.
There are many books that offer this type of information, but Kehoe has a simple matter-of-fact writing style that I find refreshing and easy to digest. Everything one needs to do for a more fulfilling life is in this book.
A must-have for your library.......2003-11-07
What can one say that hasn't been said about this book and the work of John? This is a great read and stands on its own as one of the all-time classics in this particular genre. In my opinion there are only a half dozen or so success based books required for your personal library, and this is one of them! Well worth reading.
