Can't wait to finish it!
Hillarious Reviews.......2007-06-23
The reviews for this book are extremely entertaining. I have not read the book yet but I think I will.
Too Preachy.......2007-06-08
The author writes at a junior high school level. The book is too preachy (not every Notary is a Bible thumper) and filled with useless info. (such as the part she makes fun of messages/letters/emails she received from stupid people)
KISS=Keep It Secular Sweety
Very Easy Read.......2007-04-11
This book was a very easy read. She inluded lots of internet help and Ideas. The book also became an idea book for more jobs you can have as a notary.
Like you have a friend to show you the ins & outs..........2007-02-07
I enrolled in both a notary and loan signing agent seminar.I read this before the class took place and felt I got alot from it.It is nice to have this information before I start out on a new venture. If you don't have a friend to show you the ropes, this is your answer. I will use some of her ideas and feel it was worth my time & money.I felt iwas better prepared than the other students before the class began.

unless your donald trump.......2006-10-11
i wouldn't waste your money on this book. The only way i can describe it is useless. Unless you plan on starting a donald trump sized electrical business with 500 employees. This book is all about running a huge business and has about one reference to the electrical field in it. Anyone starting an electrical contracting business isn't gonna start anywhere within the scope of this book.

Book Description
A backyard nursery is a great business opportunity for the person seeking some level of self-employment. It can be a full-time operation for the entrepreneur, or a part-time enterprise for a stay-at-home Mom, the retiree who wants to supplement a pension, or the landscaper who wants to make additional income by both selling and installing plants.
Customer Reviews:
Growing Profits.......2005-09-17
This book is a well written, concise basic introduction to the subject. The book helps the beginning businessman stay out of legal trouble by providing information on licenses, taxes, and zoning codes. Different operating options are provided as well as plant care and equipment requirements.
Not much useable info but some good ideas........1999-02-18
Only one paragraph on greenhouses, no wonder he only can make a few thousand. You really need a greenhouse to grow your starts in this business and to have only a little on this subject tells me alot..( he never made it big) There is no mention of caring for the enviorment here, The use of posins are recomended and no real overall plan for runoff or water table poulution, guess he doesn't care. Any way if you got extra bucks, get it cause one good idea can be worth the price.
Delivers. Written by experts. Easy to read. Practical........1998-05-20
Here's their back cover blurb: "Learn how to start a nursery in your backyard with virtually no capitual investment. In an area of only 1,000 sq. ft. it is possible to generate over $5,000 worth of plants in a single growing season."
The 207 page book delivers on its promise. The book is particularly good in explaining the value of "time" in the nursery business. If you expect to make money with your greenhouse... or with a nursery business, this is an EXCELLENT book to get.
It's easy to read and contains lots of money-making ideas. Here's a way to get that greenhouse by your spouse... "look at the extra money we can make!" If you have teenage children, this is a great way for them to earn extra money. If you're a business man, I think there you can make more money with less work in other ways. But hey, it's fun. The book is oriented to growing flowers and shrubs... and not so much for growing vegetables. Although growing herbs is one of the things recommended. They deliver on describing how to make $5,000 in only 1,000 sq. ft. The most important thing this book delivers is the core thinking process that a nurseryman must analyze in terms of time, and profit per unit of time. I didn't realize this was so important, but now it makes sense to me.

Customer Reviews:
Relatively useful.......2007-03-12
This is a book for people thinking about jumping from analog to digital photography. I was looking for a book about the studio, what do I need, how to organize, but a little more professional for beginners shooting fashion and editorial, so it's not for me.
Good information for the beginner.......2007-01-14
beginner photographers should read this book if they plan on starting a portrait studio. Great information for the novice but a pro might need a more in-depth book.
OK for amateur, too simple for a professional.......2006-08-19
Lou Jacobs Jr. has been writing photography books for decades and wrote a great guide to my old Konica Autoreflex 35mm SLR manual camera back 3 decades ago. This new book about starting your own studio offers a feel good fluffy guide that can motivate the beginner. It offers very little hardcore technical advice that is really important when it comes to digital studio work. For example, Jacobs glosses over the issue of storage by making statements such as just back up to CD/DVD and you're all set, whereas he should be talking about backing up to multiple harddrives, RAID, etc. Those issues aside, the studio photographs are outstanding and inspriring. Lighting is used to great effect.

Customer Reviews:
A lot of FLUFF.......2006-11-29
There is too much fluff added to this book. Too much "why mail order is a great business" introductory type of thing... I was hoping to read the how-to, what, when, where, get down to the business and let me decide if it is for me.
I don't like persuasion - "why you need to do this" or "why you should have a business". First, what may work for you, may never work for me. Second, it wasted my time, the reason I am buying the book is I want to know how, not debating whether I should with the writer.
If someone is still thinking whether they should have a business or not, then there are many general business books out there to read. I guess the title is very specific but the content is too general for me.
Informative.......2003-05-28
This book was a pretty good book. It gives lots of examples as what to do, and what I learned from, what not to do. Very informative and the information can be used to look back on. Lots of examples to writing classified ads as well as sales letter that will get you the responses you are aiming for.
Very Informative.......2002-03-25
This book is a good book to start off with. Im starting my own home based business and I felt like I was about ready to start after reading this. He gives you good examples of classfied ads that he has used and shows you how to write sales letters that will pull responses. He tells you what you should and shouldnt do. I will probably always refer to this book. You should also try Melvin Powers mail order books but dont try 101 Great Mail Order Businesses by Tyler Hicks.

AN EXCELLENT INTRODUCTION TO MAIL ORDER!!.......1998-02-07
If you are interested in mail order this book will get you off to a good start. Wilbur is honest and straightforward and illustrates his points with REAL anecdotes. The only drawback is the complete lack of any information concerning the internet and world wide web.

Great Book!.......2007-08-27
If you are pursuing or thinking of adventuring into the mail-order business, then this is a very thorough and complete book (I say this from a novice standpoint). I have been reading other mail-order topic books, but none have compared to this one. This book offers inspiration, the disadvantages & advantages of the business and everything from A-Z regarding the business. Great book, worth the buy! You won't be dissapointed.
One of the best "full overview" mail order books available........1996-12-24
While no one book can teach you everything about mail order marketing, How to Start and Operate a Mail Order Business gives the reader a good overview of the many things that a person will come across when in the Mail Order Business. If this is your first venture in mail order it is a very good starting point.

Customer Reviews:
Just what the title says.......2006-02-19
This book is exactly what I was hoping for. I have been working through Romanus Wolter's _Kick Start Your Dream Business_ with great success, but I needed some specific information about being an entrepreneur in Canada. This book is a great source for addresses and links for Canadian government offices and other Canadian resources. It also mentions other things unique to Canada that I found helpful like "Excise Tax", which will effect my particular business. The book also has good general information on starting and running a business. My only complaint about the book is that my husband noticed a few typos.

Book Description
I wrote this business start-up manual to guide those seeking a career in the field of special events. It is chock full of inside information. I have included samples of the actual contracts, business cards, advertising and sales tools that I used in my business, Affairs of the Heart. Published in 1993, the information is just as applicable today as it was then. This book is solid information, not a lot of "fluff."
Customer Reviews:
Some will find it helpful.......2002-08-29
This author put her heart into this book and offers her own personal philosophies about running a business, and it will be just what some people are looking for. I preferred the FabJob.com guides on how to start a wedding planning business and how to start an event planning business for concrete advice on how to get clients.
Good simple business ideas..........2002-07-06
When ordering this book, I hoped that it would provide me with basic and realistic information on beginning a career as an event planner. Lukcily it did! It's definitely a book for someone who wants to start a home-based company with little start up cost and as little risk as possible. It's very easy to understand, and flows quite fluidly. However, as a marketing major, I found the binder and photocopied pages a little tasteless, along with the grammatical errors. I also can't imagine being an event consultant who uses folding tables as desks. I'm not sure if I totally agree with the way she charges her fees and brings in income, but I will say that she seems to be very knowledgable and honest. The book is worth the money if you are trying to research the industry like I am. She is a well repspected bridal consultant, and although my "style" is different, I certainly learned enough from her to feel like this book was worth the purchase.
Don't waste your money........2002-02-08
... Her financial suggestions are scary as one reviewer put it. One suggestion she offered could bring problems for her vendors as well as herself.
Some of her ideas are useful and helpful but some things are just plain common sense. This book basically tells how to inflate your fee and deceive the vendors and the couple. If there were any spelling mistakes they did fix them. But the price for this book is very over inflated. I would really recommend you to keep shopping around for another book to help you start your party planning business. I know I am.
Save your money, this one is a rip off!.......2002-01-23
Wow,what a dissapointment! I don't mind paying high prices for a photo copied book if the content is good. This book was so basic. As a person with years of marketing experience, I can tell you that I dissagree with a lot of her suggestions. The typos are distracting and unprofessional, I hope her marketing materials aren't this sloppy. The financial suggestions are scarey. This author needs to stick to planning parties and leave the financial and marketing advice up to those who know what they are talking about. I recommend you buy DOLLARS AND EVENTS if you want realistic and helpful information on starting your own business. Save your money, don't buy this one.
Disappointing.......2001-09-26
After waiting 8 days with excited anticipation to receive my "how to" guide on starting my own event planning business, disappointment was all I felt. Not only does it come in a plain black binder with photocopied pages, the table of contents was placed in it backwards. Even though I was skeptical, I began to read and tried to remain open minded that perhaps the content would be worth the inflated price for a plain black binder. I was disappointed again when I realized no true editing had been done. There seemed to be many grammatical errors and the writer and editor used spell check but did not read word for word to check for accuracy in content. I stopped reading and started looking for a more professional guide to meet my professional expectations.
