A Poorly Edited High-Level Introduction to the Industry .......2007-09-18
"Medical Billing and Coding Demystified" provides a very high-level introduction to the namesake industry. I was disappointed that the first 80 pages of the book provide no information about billing nor coding, opting rather to provide a background of the entire healthcare industry that, as a whole, is only useful to the reader if he/she has never been to a doctor in the United States. Given that the book has fewer than 200 pages of informative text, I argue that the book is fundamentally mis-titled.
The book is also poorly edited, missing various commas and hyphens that would enhance readability, not to mention the authors' collective credibility. In one instance, the word "loose" is used where the word "lose" is the intention. These types of errors may seem trivial, but I prefer that my professional refrences be more polished than this one appears to be.
A good starting point for revenue cycle management career.......2007-04-17
Medical office revenue cycle management in general and medical billing in particular can be excellent career choices for somebody interested in medical field and business administration but lacking formal medical education. This book helps making such a career choice decision by bringing up the complexities of medical billing and the challenges of getting the medical practice paid in time and in full. An overview of medical billing software is also an important addition to the book as no advanced billing operation today can exist without electronic claim processing. Other chapters in the book go beyond pure coding and billing functions, providing advice on finding a billing job and passing billing tests. By including end-of-chapter quizzes and a final exam, this book also makes sure you remember most of the important information acquired from reading it. A solid introductory text.
Some good info amid a lot of fluff.......2007-04-11
Perahaps 30 pages of the book have anything to do with medical billing or coding. The rest of the book presents a summary of everything from telephone etiquette to the duties of the office manager. This is really more of a sloppily written introduction to running the front end of a medical practice than it is a serious introduction to medical billing and coding. As such the book is really only of value to someone thinking of pursuing a job in medical practice management and just wants to get an idea of what it's all about. It's of little value for anyone actually trying to figure out how medical billing and coding actually works.

Just What I Needed.......2007-10-06
This book is awesome for anyone starting a Medical Billing Business. I gives you everything you need to know to get started. I'm following it to the letter.
Thanks
Surprisingly easy!.......2007-10-03
I found this book to be an excellent reference for starting your own medical billing service. It's much easier than I anticipated, and cheaper too. This book tells you step-by-step how to do things, it couldn't be any easier to follow.I would definitely recommend this book to anyone looking to start their own business.
Not what you need to start a business.......2005-05-22
This book served as a general overview of the billing from home business, but does not give details on getting started. Not a good book to rely on if your looking to start your own business.
Start your research .......2005-02-06
This was a very comprehensive book however the authors have never started their own business; they tend to rely on interviews from several business owners across the country. The book is very organized but several sections assumes that reader will instantly understand all technical terms. I would suggest that the authors include actual forms as opposed to just referring to them, include 2-3 other formats of suggested letters and lengthen the appendix to more than 3 pages.
This is a good book for anyone looking to review the industry, not for those truly interested in starting their own company.

non working data disk.......1999-10-16
The book would be good if it was meant to be used on its own. But seeing it is sold with a data disk and the simulation requires the data disk. Maybe it would be wise to include a data disk that worked. Had I known this I would never have spent the money I did on the book.
