Book Description
Recorded history is a finely-woven magic fabric of intricate lies about events predating the sixteenth century. There is not a single piece of evidence that can be reliably and independently traced back earlier than the eleventh century. This book details events that are substantiated by hard facts and logic, and validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources.

Has history been tampered with?.......2007-10-23
Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/RAZQNMXM4M9CL Has history been tampered with? Yes, it has! Did events and eras such as the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, the Roman Empire , the Dark Ages, and the Renaissance, actually occur within a very different chronology from what we've been told? Yes, they certainly did!
The history of humankind is both drastically shorter and dramatically different than generally presumed.
Why is it so? On one hand, it was usual custom to justify the claims to title and land by age and ancestry, and on the other the court historians knew only too well how to please their masters. The so called universal classic world history is a pack of intricate lies for all events prior to the 16th century. World history as we learn it today was entirely fabricated in the 16th-18th centuries. It's likely that nobody told you before, but
there is not a single piece of firm written evidence or artefact that is reliably and independently dated prior to the 11th century.
Naturally, after what you've learned in school and university, you will not easily believe that the classical history of ancient Rome, Greece, Asia, Egypt, China, Japan, India, etc., is manifestly false.
You will point accusing finger to the pyramids in Egypt, to the Coliseum in Rome and Great Wall of China etc., and claim, aren't they really ancient, thousands of years ancient? Well, there is no valid scientific proof that they are older than 1000 years!
The oldest original written document that can be reliably dated belongs to the 11th century!
New research asserts that Homo sapiens invented writing (including hieroglyphics) only 1000 years ago. Once invented, writing skills were immediately and irreversibly put to the use of ruling powers and science.
The consensual chronology we live with was essentially crafted in the 16th century by the Jesuits.
The world history was compiled from contradictory mix of innumerable copies of ancient Latin and Greek manuscripts and other irrefutable proofs delivered by late mediaeval astronomers that were cemented by the authority of writings of the Church Fathers.
Early in life, we learn about ancient history. Children love the magical lessons of history - they are like fairy tales. Teachers recite breathtaking stories; very soon We learn by heart the names and deeds of brave warriors, wise philosophers, fabulous pharaohs, cunning high priests and greedy scribes.
We learn of gigantic pyramids and sinister castles, kings and queens, dukes and barons, powerful heroes and beautiful ladies, emaciated saints and low-life traitors.
Ancient history is based documents, manuscripts, printed books, paintings, monuments and artefacts - called primary sources.
The problem is that neither these ancient documents, nor events described therein can be irrefutably dated, moreover they contradict each other for the most part.
When a school textbook tells us that Genghis Khan in year X or Alexander in year Y, have each conquered half of the world, it means only that it is so said in some of the written sources.
There are no answers to simple questions:
When were these primary sources written?
Where and by whom were these sources found?
It is wrongly presumed that ancient and medieval chronicles, written by Genghis Khan's or Alexander the Great contemporaries and eyewitnesses, are readily available. Actually, only sources written hundreds or even thousands of years after the events are there, compiled mostly in the 16th 18th centuries, or even later.
As a rule, these sources suffered considerable multiple manipulations, falsifications and distortions by editing. At the same time,
innumerable originals of ancient documents under various pretexts were destroyed in Europe under various pretexts.
The names of persons and geographical sites often changed meaning and location during the course of the centuries.
Geographical locations became clearly defined on maps only with the advent of printing.
This made possible the circulation of identical copies of the same map for purposes of the military, navigation, education and governance tasks.
Historians from Oxford say: "hey, everybody knows that Julius Caesar lived in the first century B.C.
`Julius Caesar' statement is only a point of view as
there is simply no irrefutable documentary proof that Julius Caesar or any other great name of antiquity ever existed.
Better than that - extremely rare sources that can be reliably dated back to the 10th-14th centuries A D, do not show the polished picture of classical history.
They show a picture both contradictory and confusing.
All methods of dating of ancient sources and artefacts are erroneous:
Radio-carbon C14 method produces dating with exactitude of plus minus 1500 years, therefore it is too crude for dating of events in historical timeframe!
The Almagest tractate, which lies as corner stone contemporary chronology, compiled in the 2nd century A D by Ptolemy, the founding father of astronomy, contains astronomical data of 9th to 16th century!
The Bronze Age,that has supposedly began 5000 years ago. Bronze is made of 90% copper and 10% tin, but the technology for tin extraction dates back to 14th century A D!.
All eclipses contained in manuscripts, like Thucydides one, relating 'ancient' events have exclusively medieval dating. All horoscopes cut in stone or painted in Egyptian temples, like Dendera have exclusively early medieval dating solutions.
Not quite what you have learned in school? Open your eyes, and, you will find sufficient proof to reach step by step the inevitable conclusion that the classical chronology is false and therefore, that the history of ancient and medieval world universally accepted today, is also false. Have a fresh outlook on everything said or printed about "ancient" and "enigmatic" Roman, Greek and Egyptian, medieval as well as all other "lost and found" civilizations.
Antiquity and Dark Ages are phantoms invented in the 16th 18th and polished in 19th 20thcenturies. Human civilization is in fact barely 1000 years old!
This book will change your perception of History forever!
What if Ancient Rome, Greece and Egypt were invented during Renaissance?
What if The Old Testament was a rendition of events of the Middle Ages?
What if Jesus Christ was born in 1053 and crucified in 1086 AD?
Sounds Unbelievable?
Not after you've read "History: Fiction or Science?" by Anatoly Fomenko, the genius mathematician.
Armed with astronomy and computers Anatoly Fomenko turns History into a rocket science.
Calculations are only as good as your numbers.......2007-08-03
Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.
Pants on fire?.......2007-07-19
Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.
Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09
There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.
For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.
Very Interesting.......2007-03-07
It is a good proposal and I believe it will mature into something even better in the future. I think it deserves to be read.
Book Description

Customer Reviews:
true balance shows some simple ways to balance yourself.......2007-09-04
true balance shows some simple ways to balance yourself. it seems like a good introduction to the topic of energy balance. I was looking for more advanced techniques.
Concrete.......2007-05-17
This book came into my life at just the right time. It gave me concrete simple steps to help me with my spiritual journey. It also taught me about Chakras or energy centers, something I knew nothing about. It has really motivated me rediscover myself.
Easy to Follow Instructions to Get Centered.......2007-03-16
The benefits of this book are that these instructions on every chakra are easy to follow. Anyone could do them and in that, it achieve the author's goal of helping people get into balance. The explanations are clear and concise and the case stories illustrate the point well.
On the flip side, I agree with another reviewer's honest appraisal of this book. While I find it very useful for the most part in my life, I agree with two other commentators of the Pollyanna approach in this writer's tone. I've also wondered how true to life these case histories are because the theme seems to suggest that Choquette's guidance is a form of ultimate salvation towards one's dreams fully realized just like Moses was to the Israelites when he delivered out of Egypt and Pharaoh's bondage. Choquette seems to suggest that those who follow her instructions get their dreams and those who don't perish just like the heathens on the Tower of Babel.
For the most part, the resources in the back of this book with recommendatoins connected to each chakra are very valuable. But some of Sonia's selections don't seem as "safe" as others: Sai Baba (an Indian guru with controversial allegations of abuse on young followers), A Course in Miracles (written by a woman in New York City who was an agnostic Jew yet claims to channel the voice of Jesus Christ), Lynn Andrews (a plastic shaman who has been exposed for making all her books up), and The Avatar Course, Started by a former Scientology Mission holder--Harry Palmer. This recommendation to the Avatar Course is the one resource that had me step back from True Balance.
In a Petition to the office of Governor Jeb Bush of Florida by the Avatar Survivors League (now I have never done Avatar but felt that if something like this was sent to a Governor's office, it is worth mentioning for the purposes of consumer protection):
This Delaware corporation is registered as a for-profit enterprise selling a series of courses under the trademark "Avatar." The courses are described as "personal development education." In reality, Star's Edge is a quasi-religious cult with roots in Scientology.
MISREPRESENTATION OF ORIGIN, CREDENTIALS AND PURPOSE
* The founder and sole owner of Star's Edge, Harry Palmer, operated a Church of Scientology Mission in Elmira, New York for 15 years. After he was excommunicated in 1986, he soon introduced the Avatar Course.
* Palmer claimed the course resulted from revelations gained during a prolonged series of "sensory deprivation" sessions in a flotation tank. He promoted the course to former Scientologists as providing "the entire span of the Scientology bridge, the Buddhic path and beyond."
* Over the past decade, Palmer has broadly advertised himself as an educational psychologist. This unlicensed imposture as a health care professional is a felony in Florida and throughout the US. In truth, Palmer never received a degree in psychology, and has never held any credential or license as a psychologist. His college degree was in secondary education, and he was certified in New York to teach high school English.
* The basic Avatar Course consists of mental processes that induce a state of hypnotic trance. They are similar to those taught in Scientology, Raja yoga, Neuro-Linguistic Programming and Buddhist meditation, among other practices. Yet the materials are represented as "confidential," and students are required to sign a nondisclosure agreement that defines them as unpublished trade secrets.
* Avatar Course trainers engage in mental manipulation by indoctrinating vulnerable students into the belief that the Avatar "network" is key to creating an Enlightened Planetary Civilization that holds the key to solving the woes of mankind.
UNETHICAL AND ILLEGAL BUSINESS PRACTICES
* Star's Edge and its licensees recruit students for a nine-day course to become "Masters" (individual trainers) licensed to deliver the basic Avatar Course. The conditions of full licensure are not fully disclosed beforehand.
* Successful graduates receive a "provisional license." They are required to pay internship fees for an indefinite period until they become "qualified" by Star's Edge. Meanwhile, they are pressured to take successive trainer courses.
* Qualification requirements are arbitrary and unpublished. The licensing contract allows Star's Edge unilaterally to revoke any license issued, without explanation or recourse.
* Trainers are pressured to fix fees for the basic Avatar Course at the full "suggested" amount. This practice violates fair trade and competition regulations in virtually every jurisdiction worldwide where the Avatar Course is offered by independent licensees.
* The licensing scheme is a pyramidal multilevel marketing operation with the primary objective of selling successive courses for the financial benefit of Star's Edge, rather than providing a viable business opportunity for licensees. As a result, the vast majority of those who completed the Master course have since failed and given up on teaching Avatar as a business.
MEDICAL AND PSYCHOLOGICAL MALPRACTICE
* Although Palmer falsely advertises himself as a psychologist, most of his works (including those registered as published) are claimed to be confidential, and have never been subjected to peer review.
* During the top-level Wizard course (which costs $7,500) Palmer reveals to students that they are infested with multiple possessive spirits or "entities." These are similar to the implanted "body thetans" of Scientology lore.
* Palmer has stated that these entities are the true cause of fatal illnesses, including AIDS and cancer. Their influence is said to be responsible for psychotic breaks that may occur during the basic Avatar Course.
* As a result, Avatar Masters who have taken the Wizard Course sometimes spread unfounded rumors of miracle cures. Many claim that taking the Avatar Course(s) will enable students to cure themselves of various medical conditions, including bipolar disorder. This amounts to a fringe religious doctrine akin to those expounded by Scientology, Christian Science, the Jehovah's Witnesses, Voodoo and other groups that practice faith healing.
* On the Wizard Course, students finally learn that Palmer is a sort of New Age messiah. This is the culmination of a progressive indoctrination into an occult belief system. It all began with the deceptive promise that the Avatar Courses only enabled students to examine and restructure their own personal and religious beliefs.
Also in her later book Ask Your Guides, Sonia also references Dr. Emoto on the impact of thought energy on matter. Dr. Emoto's Ph.D. is also from a questionable unaccredited university and his findings were done not according to scientific protocol nor have his reports been peer-reviewed to maintain quality control. Before stating anything as gospel (even the gospel itself) do due diligence for your own good. If you see someone who is licensed you have recourse if they cause harm. Psychics are not regulated so it is "at your own peril"... and often at high fees (Sonia charges $800 USD/hour) you can never recover. My strongest criticism of Choquette despite her best intention is that she recommends homeopathy and flower essence remedies in the section on the throat (fifth) chakra. There is no evidence to this effectiveness apart from placebo and many of these products are not tested for safety in human consumption.
To Sonia's credit, her suggestions to do The Hoffman Process, The Artist's Way, Gestalt, Imago Relationship Counselling, Improv, and get massages were a tremendous benefit to myself and others who read her books. Nonetheless, most people new to chakra work will like this introduction but the Eastern original take on the kundalini is the truer to source form.
Life's better when you're balanced!.......2006-11-08
I'm a Sonia Choquette fan. Everything I've read by her I've found helpful and enlightening.
The step-by-step instructions in True Balance make this "how-to" book advice easy to implement. Whether you're just a little off kilter or way out of alignment, True Balance suggestions get you quickly back on track so that you can think clearly and function optimally. I highly recommend this book.
Judy Marcus, author, WHERE ARE MY KEYS?, Memory Training You'll Absolutely LOVE
Choquette is obviously a brilliant psychic, though she is too Pollyanna.......2006-04-30
Choquette is obviously a brilliant psychic, though she is too Pollyanna-like.
She doesn't really understand her audience. She grew up in a 6th sensory home and seemed to have had a very nurturing family life growing up.
Although I can understand the truth and worth of what she says, she will have a hard time getting through to intelligent people, who are in my opinion, the ones who need to most help getting to their hearts.
She seems to not understand how trauma and abuse impact people. If you have had something traumamic in your life Choquette's advice may actually hurt you because you may not be able to trust how you feel. Emotions and energy can be much more complicated than Choquette describes.
Book Description
Like many people, Kathleen Hall found that despite great success and material wealth, she had yet to identify purpose, meaning, and balance in her work and her life. She left her Wall Street firm and devoted herself to understanding the relationships between mind, body, and spirit, and between professional and personal fulfillment. Since then, she has studied with great spiritual leaders including the Dalai Lama, Bishop Desmond Tutu, and the exiled Vietnamese monk Thich Nhat Hanh. She has also learned from medical experts like Dr. Dean Ornish of the Preventive Medicine Research Institute and Dr. Herbert Benson at the Harvard Mind-Body Institute.
Inspired by those diverse influences, Dr. Hall has written A Life in Balance, a guided journey to joy, peace, and an intentional life grounded in the four roots of the SELF:
* Serenity. Find what brings us peace, and channel it into everything we do * Exercise. Align the body with energy and health through walking, yoga, martial arts, and more * Love. Build community and relationships that heal others as well as ourselves * Food. Pay attention not just to what we eat, but to what we experience through all our senses
Our lives pull us in many different directions; to find happiness, we must first create balance. Filled with wit, wisdom, and compassion, A Life in Balance will help any reader identify and stay true to his or her authentic self.
Customer Reviews:
Captured my Attention.......2006-10-26
Dr. Hall's book, "A Life in Balance", captured my attention within the first pages of the introduction.
On the first page of the introduction the author states:
"Our gas tanks are full, our bank accounts are full, and our closets are full, but we are running empty." I reflected on this statement, and with the exception of, "our bank accounts are full", I thought how true this statement resembled parts of my life and the lives of so many people I know.
Another example of the author's comments that caught my attention was:
"We have overstretched our personal boundaries and forgotten that true happiness comes from living an authentic life fueled with a sense of purpose and balance."
Dr. Hall shares her personal life experiences, and the experiences of others allowing you to see actual examples of what she is describing. She draws analogies from the seasons of the year and shows how the seasons of life are similar. She is able to use the example of a tree in pointing out how our life can hold the same balance by giving us the four roots of S.E.L.F..
We all know what stress is, but do we fully understand it? Dr. Hall explains stress, how stress affects our lives, and she provides suggestions for handling the stress in our lives.
At the end of each chapter the Dr. Hall helps you internalize what you have just read by giving you:
· Questions to ask yourself
· Suggestions to tell yourself
· Ideas to give yourself
In addition to sharing her training, education and experiences, Dr. Hall also provides many excellent resources including website addresses, and book references, plus she offers her own 25 Tips to a Life in Balance.
If you apply the techniques and practical suggestions found throughout the book, it will assist you in living "your life in balance of true happiness". I would recommend this book not only for people who feel their life is out of balance, but also for anyone who experiences stress in their day to day life. Truly an inspiring book on life!
Well-reasoned approach to work-life balance.......2006-08-07
Author Kathleen A. Hall explains how to develop strength, mental and physical flexibility, focus and happiness by nourishing what she calls the "roots of self." She offers a well-reasoned, well-researched approach to creating a harmonious work-life balance. Drawing from a broad range of disciplines, she makes the findings of mind-body medicine easy to understand, and shows that small, incremental changes easily within your grasp may add up to significant life changes. Though her style can be a tad repetitive, we recommend this book to stressed-out, overwhelmed workers and managers as a reliable, one-volume compendium of diverse health and happiness advice.
A pathway to getting things in perspective and balance.......2006-05-31
As one would surmise from the title, this is a book about establishing and keeping balance in your life. One of the better self-help books that I have read, it includes sections on Happiness and Health, Seasons of Your Life, Focusing Inward for Happiness, Stress and Stress Busting, Poisons that Kill the Roots of Your Happiness (fear, anger, hate, pessimism, apathy, greed, etc.), Establishing Serenity, Exercise and it's Gift to Your Body and Spirit, Love and Intimacy, and Nourishment. It is all about living life intentionally with purpose and balance. A Life in Balance is a recommended read.
A guide which blends in teachings from the world's great spiritual thinkers with insights on health and lasting happiness.......2006-04-05
Kathleen Hall found great success in her life but had yet to identify a real purpose and meaning to it: her survey of relationships between mind, body and spirit results in a guide which blends in teachings from the world's great spiritual thinkers with insights on health and lasting happiness. Chapters discuss how to create and foster calm and serenity in daily life, use exercise to restore health and energy, and understand the impact of food choices on mental and physical well-being.
The acorn already knows its purpose is to become an oak tree.......2006-04-03
Kathleen Hall is a brilliant writer who has the ability to distill and analyze exactly why most of us are in a constant state of emotional, psychological, spiritual, or physical turmoil. Her new book, "A Life In Balance", explains in plain and simple language how fear, stress, and being externally controlled by what is going on around us hinders our attainment of happiness and fulfillment. Through empirical research, observation, common sense and a candid peek into her own colorful life, Kathleen gently guides us to look inward and to evaluate how we're living. She helps us learn to eliminate debilitating fear and unhealthy lifestyles while we set new standards for discovering happiness and a true sense of purpose. Once you read her formula for achieving happiness and re-discovering passion in your life, the truth will set you free!

A Rich Philosophy On Life - No Matter Your Income Bracket.......2002-11-20
Many know of Jim Sorensen the billionaire, even if he is a very private man. But in this one of a kind book, he opens a window into his life, his philosophy, and his prescriptions for happy living. "Finding True Balance" is hardly an elitist discourse in academic philosophy, but it combines the wisdom of a well-lived life with the well-written insight and charm that I find unique to Sorensen. There's almost a sense of sitting at the feet of a well-traveled sage as he expounds on the simple but often overlooked truths about business, family, wealth, religion, charity, and health. Thank you, Jim Sorensen, for sharing your wisdom.

Personal coach Cheryl Richardson helps people create the lives they want. In Take Time for Your Life, she shows you how to switch from being stressed, unfulfilled, and overworked, to "living a life you love" by using a seven-step process. First, she gives you permission to "make the quality of your life your top priority" by honoring your self-care--a difficult choice for fast-track readers, but essential. Putting yourself at the top of your "to do" list will help you connect your head with your heart and enhance your satisfaction and joy. Next, you define your priorities and revise your schedule so it reflects them. Then you figure out what actions, issues, and people are draining your energy and start to "plug those drains." The next step is getting your financial house in order. And so on, through seven progressive strategies that free you to live an authentic, high-quality life, embracing your spiritual, emotional, and financial well-being. Richardson recommends enlisting a friend to work through the book with you: a fine idea to help you benefit from all the guidance that this book offers. Resource lists at the end of each chapter let you pursue topics further. Highly recommended. --Joan Price

Take Time .......2007-06-28
I thought the suggestions were very good. However, I did not like how one is suppose to find someone else and do the program with them along the way. That has never worked for me.
There were good suggestions about getting rid of the clutter in your life and about spirituality.
Cheryl is truly supportive and full of positive advice........2007-02-02
I can't say enough good things about the authors on Hay House and Hay House Radio. While this book is not a Hay House title (at least not the edition I'm reading), it certainly is one of the best self-help books I've read.
Cheryl is very action-oriented and quite generous when it comes to sharing her tactical secrets for success. Read this book if you're absolutely willing to do the work required to achieve your goals. This is not for the woo woo reader who is passively waiting for the Universe to deliver.
Compliments to Cheryl as well for the advice she gave me when I called into her radio program. She's a big champion of the idea that when you marry intention with action, miracles occur. I'm experiencing the results of putting her strategies into action as we speak. And am looking forward to achieving more happiness and success as more miracles unfold.
Think twice before hiring a career coach. Read this book first. The tone is positive and Cheryl is genuinely supportive.
Helpful resource book.......2006-11-20
I had never heard of Ms. Richardson until a friend recommended this book. I bought it, began reading and immediately connected with her personal story and approach. She is reader friendly and offers seemingly endless lists and exercises to help us reduce stress, simplify and create balance.
Some of Ms. Richardson's tips and suggestions resoundingly resonate a "Martha Stewart" style, which is at times cumbersome and a bit over-the-top with to-dos.
I like referring to this book, either when I'm searching for another book or URL (she lists many resources at chapter ends, very useful!) or when I'm looking to create new ideas for my women's support group.
Pie Dumas - Author & Life Coach
A "Must Have".......2006-11-05
This book is a "must have" for anyone who feels "trapped" in their current life and lifestyle. This book walks you through, step by step, with eye opening exercises that really make you take a look at where you are now and where you want to be. It is an excellent tool to get your life on the track to where you want to go. Your life WILL be changed. I whole-heartedly recommend Cheryl Richardson's, Take Time For Your Life.
Take Time for Thought and Planning.......2006-01-05
This book, written by life coach Cheryl Richardson, details a 7-step plan for creating the life you want.
Author Cheryl Richardson is a former tax consultant, who after many years of talking with clients about their finances, would also talk about the seemingly unrelated topics of medical history, family goals, and career plans. Over time, her practice developed into life coaching, as she became for them a sounding board, an objective listener who provided a fresh perspective. She found herself becoming less interested in their tax returns and more interested in helping them prioritize their lives to spend more time with families or fulfill a secret dream. Today, you can find many life coaches who offer their services in many venues-individual coaching, workshops, etc. The coach listens carefully for the source of problem areas, helps you formulate a plan for change, and then encourages you as you make the changes necessary to reach your goals. In this book, Ms. Richardson gives a detailed 7-step plan for identifying and creating the life you want to live. Her first instruction is that you read the book through without actually doing the plan, then go back and start the plan. She highly recommends that you have at least 1 person join you or doing the plan as a group, so that you can "coach" each other, providing encouragement and a sounding board.
Seven obstacles that Ms. Richardson commonly sees that prevent people from living the lives they love:
1. You think "selfish" is a dirty word.
2. Your schedule does not reflect your priorities.
3. You feel drained by people, places, and things.
4. You feel trapped by money.
5. Adrenaline has become your main source of fuel.
6. You're missing a supportive community in your life.
7. Your spiritual well-being gets last place in your busy life.
"The Plan" involves the following seven steps:
1. Practicing extreme self-care. This means making time for yourself (just you, all by yourself) each and every week.
2. Setting priorities that are aligned with your true intentions and honoring them.
3. Identifying and eliminating what drains you. Remember all that "stuff" in your basement?
4. Investing in your financial health.
5. Using healthy fuel-kicking the adrenaline habit and fueling your body healthfully.
6. Building a soulful community of relationships
7. Attending to your spiritual well-being. This might mean mediation, prayer, yoga, or some other form of spiritual expression.
At the end of each chapter of the book, you will find a list of resources for products, services, and other support.
I highly recommend the book for everyone. It is a great start toward sharpening your focus and eliminating what is not necessary in your life and the things that are not in line with your truest intentions. I immediately got the motivation to start cleaning out that basement and even had a garage sale (ugh-but very cathartic!), got off all those useless junk mail lists, and am updating my will and thinking more seriously than I ever have about long-term financial security. All are things that I wanted and needed to do, but was too intimidated, busy, and full of excuses to take care of. This book gave me just what I needed to start heading in the direction I really want to go. The list price of this book is $13, and it is an easy read. I read most of it on airplanes. Happy Reading!

perhaps confessions of grandure would make a better title? the title is misleading, and should actually be called THE CLARK KENT COMPLEX. supermen CREATE INNOVATE and REJUVINATE FOR SOCIETIES BETTERMENT. MAX STANDS FAR A FIELD FROM FLEMMING,MOTZART,PASTURE AND I AM AFRAID FAR FAR A FIELD FROM WATSON, FORD,CARNEGIE AND countless other innovaters, leaders and achievers..... the book is trite simplistic and frankly sophmoronic. the lesson to be learned is this,15 minutes of fame in this instance would be an injustice to both time and money... this book has been written by countless others before, and i sadly suspect will be written again...........
If you're open to help, this book will change your life.......1999-12-04
My wife bought me this book. She slipped it into my briefcase without telling me. I opened it strictly out of curiosity and got the surprise of my life. Someone had written a book about ME. And he knew things about me I'd never told anyone. The more I read, the more I realized that in some ways, the author understood me better than I understood myself. It wasn't that we'd lived similar lives. We hadn't. But we were driven in similar ways. I'd never put a name to my demons, but he had one for me that fit all too well:the superman complex.
I think I was lucky because, for some reason, I was ready to hear what Carey had to say. Some people aren't, I think. Some people never will be. Those people can't get to the deeper meaning of the book because they don't dare let themselves. But for people like me--which I suspect most people are--this book offers something I find unusual: profound insights into what makes us act the way we are. And unlike similar books, it doesn't leave you hanging. It offers truly practical suggestions for improving your life, suggestions anyone can immediately put into practice. They have already helped me.
I guess I understand why some people think Max Carey has an ego and why he's proud of what he's accomplished in his life. He's achieved a great deal. But it seems to me that the only reason he talks about it is that his experiences have led him to understand himself better. I doubt someone who's lived an ordinary life could have come up with this level of insight.
My wife believes this is one of the best gifts she's given me, mostly I think because she's benefited from the changes I've made in my approach to life. I was a little insulted by this idea at first, but she's probably right. When I think of the people I've worked with over the years, and how they deal with the world, I think a lot of other wives would do well to slip a copy of the book into their husband's briefcases. We'd all benefit.
Nice try, but too self serving and not designed to help me........1999-12-01
I should have adhered to some of the reviews on this site. The book tackles a very real and pervasive issue: people (especially men) who are or need to be superman in their own mind - in-control, being right, being responsible, etc.
But it fails to give the reader real help in dealing with the issues. Also, it seemed fictious in its portrayal of the author (he's very proud of his accomplishments). And the bottom line is that it wasn't a good read.
Max has unmasked the myth of the mastery of supermen!.......1999-11-16
The Superman Complex is a compelling expose on the universal reality that lies beneath the surface of our society's "Supermen". The author has transparently described the simple truth that for so many of us who have trumpeted through life celebrating our accomplishments and achievements, we have also often wreaked havoc in the lives of those in our path. Max has done a superb job of articulating a greater yardstick than success, that our legacy will in large measure be determined by how we come to terms with our unadorned selves, gain a measure of peace with the identity beneath our resumes, and find greater purpose by giving ourselves to the needs of others. As discomforting as it may be for us to come to grips with our self-focus and self-preservation, Max clearly lays the groundwork for a pathway to greater significance, found not in how we gain it for ourselves, but how we live it into those we work with, and live with. His challenge, to look into the mirror of our own reality and then build some accountability and responsibility into the process of personal change, is sobering...but he also adroitly underscores that life is indeed a process of growth, not a project to be completed. Many of the concepts that the author addresses are not new, but his willingness to translate his own failings and futility into a template for transformation is a sensational model for each of us who have been so reluctant to confront the similarities in our own experiences. The Superman Complex is a healthy dose of reality, and is highly recommended as required reading for the "Supermen" in our society who march on, and over, others.

My husband is a superman and I'm looking for help. This just doesn't offer any new insights. I keep waiting for someone to offer up some 'help'.

Staying in Balance and Centered to Create.......2007-03-23
Keeping in balance and staying centered helps you create from moment to moment. This book breakdown the often complex notions of chakra therapy based on the yogic system. Each chakra has lessons and excercises to idetify and correct imbalances. Anyone can do this and most of the references in this book are everyday remedies.

I challenge readers to keep the following in perspective: Sonia Choquette's Ph.D. in metaphysics is from the American Institute of Holistic Theology which is unaccredited. She attended the University of Denver and the Sorbonne in France but from what I gather ... did not receive a certificate or diploma or baccalaureate. In Diary of a Psychic I recall her stating she dropped out of Denver and worked as a flight attendant. She has stated that she studied the Kabbalah when mainstream Judaism does not allow anyone to study it unless they are Jewish, a man, and 40 plus. Sonia once stated in her radio show that another psychic told her she was a rock star on the planet Saturn (I kid you not as God is my witness) either in a co-reality or previous incarnation Listen carefully to her radio show and other public appearances when she gives readings. There is a pattern of her saying many of the same things over and over again. She constantly tells people they are psychic so they will train with her at $3500 for level 1 and 2 at a spa resort in Illinois. More recently she has announced a new course for the price of $4000 for people to learn how to read her three oracle cards at Miravel. Before Sonia met her husband she got involved with a man who left her for another man. If she is so psychic and trained since age 12 why didn't she pick up bisexual tendencies before being dumped for another gender? She charges $800/hour for personal readings but why is it that a lot of people whom I know who have read her are often told the same thing? Her response is that she attracts a soul group. Everyone is told to do The Artist's Way, that they are psychic, to read Mindful Loving, to do The Hoffman Process (which she is on the board of advisors - maybe she gets a kickback or something), come to her workshops (of course, more money for her), and she recommended to a listener to do alternative medicine... such as homeopathy which has been proven to have ZERO ingredients to be of effectiveness. She also recommends in her earlier books (such as True Balance) the following teachers: Sai Baba (an Indian guru with controversial allegations of abuse on young followers), A Course in Miracles (written by a woman in New York City who was an agnostic Jew yet claims to channel the voice of Jesus Christ), Lynn Andrews (a plastic shaman who has been exposed for making all her books up), and in her newer book references Dr. Emoto on the impact of thought energy on matter. Dr. Emoto's Ph.D. is also from a questionable university and his findings were done not according to scientific protocol nor have his reports been peer-reviewed to maintain quality control. If you don't believe me do your own research ... and just listen to her radio show ... the same things over and over again is a pattern of messaging that is too obvious if you go through the archives carefully of her shows. In many of her writings she states that one some level you choose everything that happens to you, everything you think of creates your reality, and it begs the question: (1) in one of her books she is quoted as saying that "even the people murdered chose that reality" yet last I checked capital crimes were to be prosecuted and would she say this or even believe it if the awful fate befall someone she cared about? Would she be so spiritual about it? Would she be so calm and esoteric to say it if it hit close to home? (2) So did she have a thought about attracting in a man who would betray her to be gay on some deep subconscious level just as Henry did to her in Diary of a Psychic or in Heart's Desire?
Finally, the facts of the case are obvious ... she is a graduate of an unaccredited higher educational institution that she is now on the faculty of, claims that Christ taught her to be psychic in her autobiography, says she is Catholic yet practices spiritual methods that the church does not approve of such as divination, and so forth and so on. Though she is a well-meaning lovely lady the facts for any consumer should be taken into account. All that said, Sonia's guidance has turned around the lives of many people, overall she is a sweet wise guide who uplifts many people's vibrations. But as much as I personally adore this writer for her genuine sweet nature ... as a lawyer and Catholic I cannot overlook certain facts.
Choquette's earlier work was much better until she aligned herself with Hay House (publisher of Sylvia Browne's books) and has become more concerned with keeping up her game and being brand consistent in her messages to truly now be of any personal use to those who seek her out. Her beautiful gift of second sight has now dimmed as her business model and personal livelihood is now so tied into having six sensory groupies all over the world in devotion of Sonia's saying as their substitute personal religion. The very gift that brought her acclaim when she operated from a sincere spirit of service is now second to Choquette's quest to be special and spiritually superior.
