Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 - Inside Out - reference book - CD
Customer Reviews:
Very useful.... a total package.......2007-06-27
I found myself as the Outlook support for a new small business and I had only used Outlook for e-mail and contacts previously. This book has quickly become my total reference guide. It has helped me solve several problems. It's easy to read, well organized and very complete.
I recommend it to anyone who needs to support an Outlook installation or an Exchange Server installation.
Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 Inside Out.......2007-03-08
Comprehensive and approachable. Good index and highly illustrated.
micro office outlook.......2007-01-10
Too much said about the various steps. Not brief and to the point. Found it difficult to go step by step without reading, and reading, and reading.
Comprehensive, but still some holes.......2005-11-22
Previous reviewer's comments are noted well, but I was somewhat disappointed in the coverage of forms development. I really wanted to learn to move/place fields on a contact form and designate them drop-down, etc. Simple enough, I thought, for a book of this coverage. But even though the author talked about the abilitiy to do this, there were no directions, no examples, and no description of the 'Controls' options required to do it. For a book of this size and price, I had hoped for more meat. No, not to the detail of VB scripting, but certainly more detailed coverage of Outlook's powerful forms and macro abilities. To my chagrin, I'm finding my answers under the Outlook 'Help' section in the program itself!
Most comprehensive.......2005-09-04
A most comprehensive treatment of Outlook. Extremely well suited for an experienced Outlook user, with many details on the use in a server/business environment. Describes the interrelationship with Windows Outlook Express. Probably a little too comprehensive for the single system user just trying to read and write a few email messages. Subject matter is exceptionally well presented and thorough.

Customer Reviews:
Great but needs some changes.......2007-06-14
This book may not cover all the topics in FICO but keeping in mind that there is no other product in the market which explains the functionality of FI and CO modules, one has to agree that this is the best book available on this subject.
I am not sure if the authors added any new material to this one in the last 2 years, but as far as my knowledge, this book did not cover "Asset accounting", "Profitability analysis" and "Product costing". But, for anybody who is planning to know the basic functionalities of these modules this is the best book to start with.
The screenshots do not matter a lot as no matter which version you are on , you can still figure out the changes and you can always find the screens and tabs as the transaction codes haven't changed.
It would be great if this book is revised and if the authors can explain the new general ledger structure released in ECC 6.0. There is not much stuff out there on this topic.
A must have book for FICO consultant.......2007-06-02
It is a complete book on FICO configuration. It clearly articulates all the configuration steps required for FI and CO modules for an enterprise using a single company ,as an example, throughout the entire book.
A little background in accounting is needed before starting with this book. I refer the following book to starters, to get the basic knowledge on accounting.
THE ACCOUNTING GAME - Basic Accounting Fresh From the Lemonade Stand
Configuring SAP R/3 FI/CO : The Essential Resource for Configuring the Financial and Controlling Modules.......2007-02-24
This book has a strong and effecient information on the subject, which is very finely explained the complexed and difficult issues in a simple language or grammer.. that is very helpful to grasp and grip the functions of the sap FiCo terminology and its tasks. it is quite interesting to read and impliment practically.
Configuring SAP R/3 FI/CO: The Essential Resource for Configuring the Financial and Controlling Modules .......2007-01-11
Configuring SAP R/3 FI/CO: The Essential Resource for Configuring the Financial and Controlling Modules very important for SAP Consultant
Good resource book for "How To" configure SAP.......2007-01-10
This is a good book and might well deserve a 4 start rating. The pluses are it covers a large range of "How To" tasks necessary for setting up and maintaining your SAP system in as clear a presentation as is possible for the monolith that is SAP. Menu paths and transaction codes are listed and the information is well organized. Its minuses are that the information is out of date so it's difficult to follow the menu paths and some of the T codes don't work any longer. Sometimes the directions are not as specific or detailed as I would like. I would prefer directions that are crystal clear (do this to accomplish X) but I'm afraid that has more to do with the SAP labyrinth than the author. Only 3 starts because of the out-of-date info and lack of detail but still a good starting point to figure things out.

A mind is a terrible thing to waste...........2007-08-11
So buy this book and make the most use of it!
Just think of this book as kind of martial arts program for your brain. Each chapter (and there's 22 in all) stands out on its own and discusses a particular area you can improve on, such as memory, creativity, math, communication, and so on. It's an easy read and since each chapter stands out by itself, you can jump around and go to the areas that interest you the most. A great book with a lot of clever and PRACTICAL ideas, I give it 5 stars easy. Also liked The Sixty-Second Motivator to improve one's motivation.
Pretty good.......2007-05-22
The book is filled with plenty of hacks, although some of them were somewhat useless and uninteresting to me.
The memory hacks are pretty decent, but they don't go into enough detail on how to actually learn to use them. If you figure them out they work incredibly well, though. Some of the fast-math hacks were pretty helpful as well. One of my tops, however, was the hack that shows you how to calculate the weekday of any given day.
Good buy, good as a reference book just to learn something new if you ever need to.
just not that impressed.......2007-03-30
I bought this book sort of on a whim, hoping it might be a real gem. I've read some of the Hacks but not all of them. To me, they seem to skirt around the edges of usefulness, implementability, and impact. The strongest points seem like things I've heard elsewhere. I'm going to go back to the book based on all the positive reviews here, but I'm skeptical.
Just what I was looking for. .......2007-01-14
Focus on getting your mind expanding/growing. A great and highly useful set of tools, perspectives on maximizing your mental abilties. Wonderfully written, precise, Although I have been a software developer for 27 years, the Perls scripts are not essential for the non-developer type. Great for those of us heading into the 60+ years bracket. Got to be worth the bucks. Lots of great hacks. Buy it.
OK but not full of new things.......2007-01-08
It was OK and mostly worth the money but it was not full of new things for me. The hype on this book made me expect more out of this than I received.

Book Description
Seize the Work Day describes using the Tablet PC to help the average office work-manager get control of his/her work day and become more productive. It paints a compelling picture of the Tablet PC as a very practical business tool, and assists the user in succeeding with the Tablet PC in such a setting.
Customer Reviews:
Excellent Resource on Tablet PC.......2006-08-24
I really like the author's approach, since he actually gives both relevant technical information and provides the practical business practice.
How-to books are "easy" to write... what Michael Linenberger does is fantastic and more technical books should be written with this dual perspective!
Tablet PC book not for learning the Tablet.......2006-07-05
This book is not for someone learning to really use the Tablet PC. It is about his system of organization and how to use the Tablet PC as a key device in organizing your life, as the title indicates. I was disappointed in the book overall as I was looking for a book that would educate the physicians I support in better use of the Tablet itself.
Good Reminder for Professionals.......2006-03-26
As I read the book it reminded me of all the things I should be doing to keep my work organized. The tablet PC is a great tool which I encorporated into my daily routine prior to reading. This book gave me helpful hints on how to do things effectively and efficently on my tablet. The book is written using the beta and initial version of the tablet PC tools. If you purchase you must download the updates of Chapters 3 & 4. This update gives a better understanding of the current tools of the tablet PC. It is worth the money in time saved.
Should be sold with every tablet pc!.......2006-03-09
Microsoft should package a copy of this book with every tablet sold! Good for personal and business productivity!
Great for the right work environment.......2006-01-03
I really enjoyed the book, and it was very helpful to me in getting up to speed on how to take advantage of the features of my new Tablet Convertible.
I think workers and executives who spend a large portion of their time in and out of meetings will get the most out of this book. As an independent contractor who spends 80 to 90% of of my time working at my desk in my home office, I felt a lot didn't really apply to me.
Also, the book really is outdated, now. He reviews the pros and cons of his recommended software tools -- but ALL of them have had significant upgrades since publication.
The author points to his website, where he promises updates as technology changes, but I only found a single updated chapter (really an article) that describes the major enhancement of SP 2 of Windows XP. It was a great article, but I was disappointed there was nothing about GoBinder (not mentioned in his book) nor the updates to OneNote, PlanPlus, and MindManager.
This book should be studied for ideas and concepts to consider and adapt, rather than followed as the ideal system.
Bottom line is that I got a lot out of this book, and I will now be more effective with my Tablet PC.

Old guide with outrageous price.......2006-11-29
Several years ago I got some help from this book to understand the basic principles of BW. This book is currently very outdated. The outrageous part is that the publisher reprinted the book recently with a 50% increase in the price, without updating the content at all.
If the authors publish a new edition, I'll be the first one to buy it.
Seriously outdated.......2005-09-22
Man, you can't keep selling the same book forever and keep everyone satisfied. I liked the way they presented the idea of BW, but it was seriously outdated. They should make enhancements and upgrades atleast one in two years
Step by Step guide to where?.......2005-02-01
Anybody buying this book to learn some BW will be very much disappointed. Like the way the book is organised but older stuff. I can't beleive the greedy publiser is still selling this book. Not only they should stop selling, also should recall the book.
Navigation in 2.0 and nothing more..........2004-03-19
Disappointing in both structure and content; surprising thing, cosidering that the authors come with substantial credentials.
It is more of an end-user self-training package targeting the individuals that want to memorize and troubleshoot their way through the setup rather that providing a step-by-step business case driven scenario.
Unfortunately the release that make the subject of the book is already obsolete (well, this is not authors' fault).
The CD-ROM attached to it is of little if any use;
Great Book for Begginers !.......2004-01-29
This book is great since all the step by step instruction is accurate. This book is for SAP consultants who have little knowledge of SAP-BW concepts and would like become a SAP-BW expert. The only thing that I saw lacking is for Business Explorer query options. There are very few examples for Business Explorer. But however, I think if you play with the GUI this problem is overcome easily. THIS BOOK IS WORTH IT !!!

Product Description
Between 1976 and 1994, Commodore had astounding success in the nascent personal computer business. Amid the chaos and infighting, Commodore was able to achieve some remarkable industry firsts. They were the first major company to show a personal computer, even before Apple and Radio Shack. They sold a million computers before anyone else. No single computer has sold more than the Commodore 64. The first true multimedia computer, the Amiga, came from Commodore. Yet with all these milestones, Commodore receives almost no credit as a pioneer. Commodore was one of the only companies with the ability to make silicon, and the results were obvious. They had more creativity, more color, and more character than the competition. While Apple and IBM charged exorbitant prices, Commodore was able to reach the masses with affordable computers while remaining profitable. The Commodore 64 cut a path of destruction through the early industry, knocking Tandy, Texas Instruments, Sinclair, and Atari out of the computer business and badly hurting Apple and even IBM. While other companies received more press, Commodore sold more computers. Yet Commodore never reached a comfortable position. They were always on the verge of blinding success or abysmal failure. Commodores volatile founder, Jack Tramiel, lived on the edge, and he made sure his employees lived there too. On the Edge: The Spectacular Rise and Fall of Commodore tells the story through over 44 hours of interviews with former engineers and managers: Chuck Peddle, the digital God who created a revolution with the 6502 chip and designed the PET computer. Al Charpentier, the chain smoking architect of Commodores revolutionary graphics chips. Bob Yannes, the frustrated musician and synthesizer aficionado who designed the Commodore 64 and the SID sound chip. Bil Herd, the unruly engineer who created the maligned Plus/4 and later sought redemption with the C128. The Amiga engineers, who created the first true multimedia system even before the word multimedia existed. Irving Gould, financier and majority shareholder who rescued Commodore in the sixties, then allowed it to wither.

Commodore Computers Get Their Due.......2007-08-01
The expression "back in the day" loses meaning when it comes to computers. For some, "back in the day" means Java 1.3, or Perl 4, or a PC running at less than 1 GHz. For me, "back in the day" means a world without personal computers. "On the Edge", the story of Commodore, is a great telling of how the personal computer got built "back in the day."
Probably the most thoroughly enjoyable part about "On the Edge" is the unvarnished portrayal of the engineers and executives. Chuck Peddle, Bil Herd, Irv Gould, and Jack Tramiel are profane, urgent men, men who wanted to build machines, to build empires. Their story is told with great candor and detail. It's astounding to think that computer chips and machines were once built quite literally by hand. It's astounding to think that Commodore could have become today's personal computer, were it not for the harsh and self-destructive business practices of Gould and Tramiel.
Along the way of Commodore's great rise and fall were the famous companies that stand before us today: Microsoft, IBM, and Apple. Steve Jobs and Bill Gates are in this book too, playing minor roles as the personal computer market began to shake itself out. Commodore was tantalizing close to being one of those companies, and in the end, this book makes a strong case for their important role in helping found the personal computer industry.
Brian Bagnall's style is very accessible, and it's easy to read the 500-plus pages very quickly. He deserves high praise for telling the story, and positioning the Commodore as one of computers that ushered in the personal computer.
An Enlightening and Entertaining Book! Commodore Revealed! A+++.......2007-07-24
I just read the hardbound (2nd) edition of this book while on vacation. Wow, what a wonderful and informative book! It's a real gem for Commodore enthusiasts and admirers of 80's 8-bit computing. My favorite computer company has at last been given the recognition it deserves! Commodore had many, many firsts in the industry and it's great to see credit finally given where credit is due. This book is written in an entertaining fashion and the personal stories are great! It's also interesting to note how some companies and individuals have tried to rewrite the history of the birth of the personal computer. Commodore was a leader in the field and the record is set straight in this book. FANTASTIC!
From the Other Side.......2007-07-19
As someone growing up in the 70's/80's with Atari this and Atari that I was on the side of the fence that hated Commodore. An irrational hate, but a hate nonetheless... hey, I was 14. That said I never really knew much about Commodore as a company and the many people behind it. I recall the 'thrill' if you can call it that of Jack's defection and how he was going to turn Atari around (little did I know) and knowledge of Jay Miner being the brain behind both the Atari 8-bit and Commodore Amiga chip set, but nothing more.
Consequently this book has been one great read full of information that I never knew. It didn't feel biased as it had some of Jack Tramiel's good points in it too and it now has me pronouncing his last name correctly. If you have any interest in computer history then this is a must get title. It covers all the way from the design of the Pet and Commodore's move into the computer marketplace all the way to the end after the Amiga and it touches on the various other companies they did business with such as an early Microsoft for licensing Basic, Radio Shack and Apple as competitors, IBM, Atari, ...etc.
My only disappointment is to see that there's now an updated edition coming out with more photos, interviews, ...etc and I've already shelled out my cash for this one.
Connecting the Dots.......2007-07-13
I really enjoyed this book. I enjoyed it so much that I have recently purchase a (2) Vic 20's,(2) Commodore 64's and one C-128 on ebay. I set them all up and I am really having fun with them. I am starting with the vic and re discovering machine language. I know this sounds like a little too much, but I cant help but think there was some huge loss of technology we are missing out on today when Commodore went under. I feel like it was when the Libray of Alexandria was destroyed, we could be on Mars today if Commodore had succeded. The only thing I think was left out was the awesome mathematics chips that came in the vic and the 64.
Thank You to Brian Bagnall for writing and all the great people at Commodore for all the inovative hard work they did! =D

Book Description
What is Enterprise Resource Planning and why does it matter? Like The Goal, Why ERP? is a short novel about a manager in a furniture manufacturing business who is charged with learning about and implementing a new ERP system, SAP R/3. The story tells of his experience and provides a non-technical, non-programming introduction to the basic concepts and architecture of ERP systems.

Outstanding Introduction to the Enterprise Software Concept.......2005-09-07
I am a Professor in the Management Information Systems area and I use this book as a quick and relatively painless introduction for students who know absolutely nothing about the software that supports Integrated Business Systems. It is an excellent read for that purpose. It focuses on why Enterprise Systems are valuable for some companies, the dangers of blind adoption, the value and power of systems integration, and some of the costs associated with implementing these systems. Just as important, it does this in an interesting way. At least more interesting to my students, who are either dual majors in business administration and information systems or straight majors in some area of business administration. While the other reviewers are correct in their blistering reviews of the book from a technologist's perspective, the book is not written for technologists. As the title suggests, it is a primer and primers are written at the most elementary level.
I have not come across a better book for someone with no knowledge of Integrated Business Systems to learn quickly in 119 pages what Enterprise Systems are about.
REVIEW FOR STUDENTS.......2005-04-21
I read this book as a requirement for my Management Informations Systems class. While it is a dry read, I acknowlege that it was a noble effort to present the information in the form of a novel. Do not read this book if you are an expert on SAP or very familiar with ERP systems. This is little more than a text book put in the form of one large example. Keep your expectations low and you'll be fine.
Why ask why?.......2004-10-28
I picked up this little jewel hoping to learn something about SAP's R/3 product and believe me, it took some serious effort to plow my way through this loathsome tale. The Goal has been done to death by everyone, including Goldratt, and this book is a pale imitation of that classic novel. If you know absolutely nothing about MRP or ERP, then this book might be helpful. It does motivate the need for such systems and production controls in general. The book also has some screen shots of SAP's product, so at least you'll have some basic familiarity with that system before you see it on a workstation. I think I'd rather read the User's Guide to R/3 (or to my VCR) than read this book.
Why ERP? No, really, why ERP?.......2003-11-13
I wouldn't even make paper airplanes with this book - because they would suck too. When millions of books were burned in WWII, why did they miss this one?
Not a good read, pick up The Goal or Better Together instead.
This Book Sucks.......2003-11-13
Why ERP? Because I didn't have a choice as to read it or not. I'd rather take a bath in gasoline and light myself on fire than read this thing again.

A bit disappointed.......2004-09-13
I was so excited for this book to come! I couldn't wait to read it. I have to admit that now after reading it, I am a bit disappointed. While it is quick and easy to read some of the information is extremely basic and elementary and I considered about half of the book to be a waste of my time (but hey, what's 25 minutes in the grand scheme of things?). I did however find some of the tips very helpful and practical. For instance, the book helped me recognize situations when it's okay to throw things away, something I never do. Overall, a good read with some helpful ideas. Just be prepared to skip over the stuff that you already know, and be able to apply the general deatils to your specific needs.
Quick Start.......2002-07-20
I was able to read this book in one night and still had time to make a game plan for tackling the organization project at the office for the next morning. There were a few ideas that were easy to implement; some so simple I can't believe I never thought of them before. (The Tickler Files!) After two work days, I had changed my work process enough to feel better, and thus have some relief. Not to mention, on day two, my director stopped mid-sentance when she saw the top of my desk and praised me for how clean and organized I was.
This book is a great place to start for some easy, immediate results. However, I need much, much more on PDA's, e-mail, case management, and paperwork flow. The success I had from the small investment of time here will keep me motivated to move on to books tackling the larger picture.
Great book to get you started.......2001-09-30
I was totally disorganized and swamped with paper everywhere. This book was one of 3 I bought and was the first one I read. It is easy to read and follow, and it brought order and gave me confidence to start my umpteenth effort to get organized. Absolutely recommend it to anyone who is in need of a kick start to getting organized.
Practical and simple to follow methods.......2000-09-04
This book is well organized. It offers practical and simple to follow methods. If you don't want to spend a lot of time reading, but to take action getting organized, this is the book to read.
Immensely practical; a one-time life experience.......1998-10-03
I ran into the first edition of Oganizing Your Workspace at a time when I needed to get my work habits reorganized. It was full of very simple, almost obvious suggestions on how to get out of grid lock, and how work in a focused way. It takes some "humility" for a "seasoned executive" to read through a book like this, but for me it paid off many times over.

Good book to carry with you for reference.......2007-09-07
This book is good if you use it as a reference in your job. If you want to learn PP this is not the book for you. I helped me in a lot of projects. Moreover the functionality in PP has hardly changed from 4.6C.
Read the free SAP help instead.......2002-01-21
This is basically a poor rewrite of the on-line SAP documentation. There is nothing to learn from this book. I have found that all of these "Administering" books from Que are waste of paper. Spend you money elsewhere.
Not enough description.......2000-11-21
The book is not so informative who would like to understand the detailed functions of SAP PP module. The book contains no picture or screen shot. It's dealt with various functions but it doesn't seem to be enough.
Big job, great results.......2000-06-21
As far as I can see these guys have made a big part of job about description of PP customizing and implementation. I am a PP consultant, and I find out a lot of very useful tips concerning this part of SAP R/3. An integration with CO and MM has also been described. So I recomend this issue to any interested in PP people.
Not as good as SAP's online help.......2000-03-30
The content in this book is not helpful if you know how to use SAP's online help. It is insufficient to provide an understanding of how particular functions in PP module work. In brief, this book is not informative.
