Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars Nice Guide for Beginners.......2007-06-16

The author writes a nice overview of the entrepreneurial process. It's basically for novices but it does a good job for this audience. The only problem I have with this book is that it is too basic and is therefore non-unique because it is so low-level. Regardless, I must say that for the right audience, it does a fine job over giving the big picture.

If you are advanced or aspire to become advanced, I would recommend "The Startup Company Bible for Entrepreneurs" but only for high-tech entrepreneurs. Even this author has recommended it.

5 out of 5 stars A Must-Have for Entrepreneurs.......2007-05-14

Steven gives great illustrations to drive home his insightful advice for entrepreneurs. As he's "been there, done that," we can take his advice to heart in the hopes of becoming a success like him!

5 out of 5 stars Exellent Book.......2007-05-11

Great book for getting ready to open a new business. Would refer to anyone thinking about opening a business.

5 out of 5 stars Brief and to the point.......2007-04-27

This is a delightful little book that contains a wealth of useful and helpful information and ideas on starting a small business and ensuring that it is viable and succesful. The book is well written and easy to follow and interesting to read.

This is a must read for entrepreneurs, particularly budding ones as the information the book provides is very practical and can help you avoid making costly errors. The book covers a wide range of topics including the start-up process, marketing the business on a small budget, cash-flow forecasting, among other things.

The book is an excellent companion for the entrepreneur that is well worth having.

5 out of 5 stars Invaluable advice for the budding entrepreneur.......2007-03-04

This book does a terrific job of presenting some of the most important issues entrepreneurs face when embarking on new ventures, touching on topics such as the business plan, funding, team building, and cash flows. Using simple, yet stunningly accurate models of the entrepreneurial process, Steven Gold distills complex subjects into simple, practical, take-away messages. The classification of entrepreneurial personalities (professionals, pragmatists, and inventors) is something I think we can all relate to. I find the metaphor which compares building a new company to making "stone soup" equally compelling. There are countless books out there for budding entrepreneurs, but this one is no fluff. It gets right down to the nuts and bolts so you can concentrate on your business.

Book Description

eBay, the world's largest online trading community, has over 125 million registered users. According to the New York Times, more than 500,000 people make a full- or part-time living on eBay. On any given day there are close to 4 million items listed for auction on the eBay site. Want to make your mark on the eBay world?

Absolute Beginner's Guide to eBay, 4th Edition, is the perfect guide to help you conquer your first auction. The first three editions of this book were huge sellers, so it's only natural we would update this great book to reflect eBay's most recent upgrades and enhancements. This new edition is completely revamped to cover the way eBay is used today. It's more than just online auctions--users also buy and sell via fixed-price listings, Buy It Now, eBay Stores, Half.com, Trading Assistants, and more. You will find everything they need to know to get started in this book!

Download Description

On any given day there are more than 7 million items listed for auction at ebay (www.ebay.com), the world's largest online trading community. At the end of its last fiscal quarter, ebay had 49.7 million registered users, more than double the number of users just two years previous. It is estimated that $9.3 billion worth of merchandise, in more than 423 million individual auctions, was traded over eBay during the year 2002. To an absolute beginner, using eBay can be an intimidating experience. What do you need to do to participate? How do you place a bid? What do you do when the auction is over? Can you really trust the auction seller? Potential buyers and sellers need a book that takes them step-by-step through the eBay auction process and helps them become more successful over time. That book is this book: Absolute Beginner's Guide to ebay. Also included is information of value to ebay users wanting to make the jump to power-seller status.

4 out of 5 stars eBay Introduction.......2007-05-26

Reference: Fourth Edition

As an introduction to eBay, I found this book to be most helpful to a first time user of eBay. The index section added to the value of the text. The "special elements" such as "Note" and "Caution" were a nice bonus.

5 out of 5 stars Great reading for beginners ........2007-02-21

Since I was a beginner when I started to read this book now that I finished it I feel more confident at ebay it touch every area of ebay from registering to buy and sell, listing, shipping and a lot more, I even started to sell my first two items one of them I already got a bidding, anyway, if you are a real beginner you can't go wrong with this book.
Well now that I finished it I'm gonna sell it on ebay see ya there and happy bidding.

4 out of 5 stars the best of the bunch.......2005-08-02

I have a few books on ebay and this one is the easiest most user friendly book i have encountered. Love the cartoons and the bit of tongue-in-cheek fun along the way. It is well organized and actually fun to read.

5 out of 5 stars Absolute Beginner Guide to E Bay by Miller.......2004-03-11

This is an excellent reference guide if you intend to sell or
purchase anything of substance on the Ebay system. A knowledge
of the world-wide web is presumed. The work teaches how to
register, the dynamics of listing fees, use of Ebay software,
winning bids, billing for buyers/sellers and a host of other
technical issues too numerous to list here. Ebay is a forum
for selling anything from art to tickets to health care products.
A strength of the Ebay system is that the auctions are timely.
They bring together buyers and sellers in a highly competitive
bidding scenario. The use of Ebay can benefit both buyers and
sellers; however, it is important to understand the considerable
protocols in order to use this system optimally. I've purchased
relatively new products at 25% of the original purchase price.
Before you can do anything like that, it is necessary to understand the search engine available at Ebay, as well as
the timing of auctions and related protocols.

4 out of 5 stars Helpful and Clear.......2007-03-09

Well-written and geared toward beginners--which made my life a lot easier! This book was actually far more comprehensive than expected. Clarity about how to actually start an eBay business, with great tips and detai. Also works as a business guide in addition to showing a great understanding of eBay. If you are serious about getting into an eBay business, I would highly recommend this book

5 out of 5 stars Excellent Book for E-Bay beginners.......2007-01-16

Read this book front to back and went back to several chapters even after I started selling. Highly recommended for anyone wanting to start a small or large selling inventory on e-bay.

5 out of 5 stars Good for the beginner.......2006-03-20

If you are trying to decide or have made that big decision to start an eBay business, check out this title. It's not wordy but gives good guidance. As well as the usual Table of Contents and Index (which are well done), there is an initial page that gives you Contents at a Glance. This is a nice and unusual touch that keeps you from any unnecessary searches because the Table of Contents is lengthy. Also, contained in the Introduction are adequate and easy to understand instructions on use. Be sure to read this before jumping ahead and you will be very pleased with your purchase. You will become an A++ seller.

4 out of 5 stars AS ADVERTISED.......2005-08-10

VERY EASY TO READ AND UNDERSTAND, WOULD RECOMMEND FOR THOSE JUST STARTING OUT ON EBAY.

1 out of 5 stars Defectuve Book.......2005-01-13

The Index in the back of this book is incorrect. The author and publisher are aware of this...I contacted each and they confirmed this. Thus this book is worthless for anyone who wants to look things up....it should be taken off the market and corrected.

Book Description

Designed to help job seekers align their outer careers with their inner values, The Beginner's Guide to Finding Your Perfect Job offers a radical new approach to career change that reframes how, why, and where we can find work that is not just a job - but a destiny. Drawing from his popular Anti-Career workshops, Rick Jarow teaches seven principles of career transformation to help listeners move beyond self-limiting thoughts and patterns, "... so the work you do in the world reflects your integrity, passion, and sense of purpose." With special guided meditations, insights on how the power of spirit can help with a career move, and many eyeopening examples from the real world, here is a much-needed holistic view of this critical life skill, and the interior resources that make a "perfect job" truly possible.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars This is a unique contribution and very useful for career changers.......2006-05-31

I am an integral coach who does a lot of work with career changers who are looking to align their career with their most important values in a fulfilling way. I also do career counseling work with young people who are confused about their future direction.

A shortcoming I find to most approaches to looking at career are that ignore a lot of the interior right hemisphere work and jump the gun in terms of matching a person's skills to the needs of the market. Unfortunately, just because you have a certain skill doesn't mean you will enjoy using it or find fulfillment in a position that draws heavily on areas where you have the highest aptitudes. In order to make the best possible career choices, it is important to look at your values, the skills you most enjoy using and look beyond purely logical approaches to making decisions.

Rick Jarow's Guide to Finding Your Perfect Job uses techniques that help you to get beyond your conditioning and habitual ways of thinking. He utilized meditation techniques and visualizations that help you to get out of our own way and get at the areas that have the most meaningful to you. Armed with this knowledge, you can make much more effective career choices and see through the things that are blocking you from having the job you want.

Honestly, I don't like some of Rick Jarow's other more comprehensive works nearly as much as this concise tape. However, if you like this you may want to try some of his other resources. In short, this tape will get you out of your head, into your heart and put you in touch with what is most meaningful to you. If you have a strong internal critic, this tape might be particularly helpful.

Book Description

An enlightening primer from the bestselling author of Beating The Street.

Many investors, including some with substantial portfolios, have only the sketchiest idea of how the stock market works. The reason, say Peter Lynch and John Rothchild, is that the basics of investing aren't taught in school. At a time when individuals have to make important decisions about saving for college, this failure to provide a basic education in investing can have tragic consequences.

For those who know what to look for, investment opportunities are everywhere. The average high-school student is familiar with Nike, McDonald's, and The Gap -- but only a very few own shares in these companies or even understand how to buy them.

In Learn To Earn, Lynch and Rothchild explain in a style accessible to anyone -- whether a high-school student or a student of investing -- how to read a stock table in the daily newspaper, how to understand a company annual report, and why everyone should pay attention to the stock market. They explain not only how to invest, but also how to think like an investor.
