Customer Reviews:
VERY helpful on the way to level 60.......2007-08-25
I had ordered this book along with World of Warcraft, it was very helpful.
Lets talk about what this book is not:
-covers all dungeons up to blackwing lair
-does not cover burning crusade dungeons, nor is there a dungeon companion for the burning crusade (yet) The burning crusade players guide only covers the first 2 hellfire citadel dungeons and the first 2 coilfang dungeons, I don't know why.
To WoW newbies doing dungeons, this book is very helpful, as it lists what level you should be, all the quests you can get, and a walkthrough of the dungeon.
If you were to get a quest for a certain dungeon, you could take a look in the book, get the rest of the quests for that dungeon, and finish the dungeon with confidence, knowing you won't have to come back for another quest if you hated that dungeon.
While great for anybody questing up to level 60, people over 60 will have little use for this book. It could be useful if you go to an old raid spot like Zul Gurub or molten core, but pretty much nobody runs lvl 60 dungeons anymore. Like scholomance and Stratholme.
The biggest problem is the maps of certain dungeons, mainly the large ones. If its your 1st time to blackrock depths or blackrock spire, and you consult the map on where to find a certain NPC or boss, its not going to be of very much use to you, because of the multiple levels of those dungeons make it hard to read a top view map of those places.
overall, A great book for the still-learing WoW player thats very useful when the others in your group don't have a clue of what to do
Dungeon Preview.......2007-07-23
When I bought this, I was hoping it was updated with the new dungeons. But when I received it, it was all the old dungeons of Azeroth and no Burning Crusade Dungeons. In its day this is an excellent guide...but that was 3 years ago.
Very Helpful.......2007-06-27
Especially if you like to study ahead or do things all the way, this Dungeon Companion will truly be your companion as you meet bigger and bigger dungeons in the game.
It lists:
- quests available in each dungeon
- what kind of mobs will be met in each dungeon
- what kind of drops can be found and where
- as well as a walk through of the instance
- it also includes good general information about raids
must have.......2007-04-18
awsome ! amust have , very useful
although I have to agree that it does fall apart easily .
but I still think it is Very useful
Nice addition to the game..........2007-04-11
Lots of info and I found it a good buy. It will guide you through all the instances and quests and many helpful tips to keep your team alive.
Average customer rating:
- A great FF8 companion
- beautiful
- Unorganized, but factual enough
- The Best strategy guide out there.
- good

A great FF8 companion.......2007-09-05
I found this book to be an improvement on the FF7 book. The directions are easier to follow, and it includes a lot of important information. I would have liked the names of the Cards to be easier to read - dark font on a dark background is too hard to reference for anything - and the beastialityairy was too hard to decipher. But that's a small point when you compare it to the failure to continue with the total coverage in the FF9 book. This book told me what I needed to know about the little things that I missed - the weapons, the GFs, the magazines (not enough room), and locations like the Islands or the Deep Sea Research Center. It was tremendously helpful. Still is.
beautiful.......2007-07-17
fast shipping, perfect condition, all around great, happy with my purchase. I know generic comment but I can't think of any other way to describe it
Unorganized, but factual enough.......2007-06-15
This guide was very very good in getting me through the game the first time I played it.
HOWEVER, when I went back through to collect all the little items that I had missed, I learned quickly how badly the guide leads you to them.
I think instead of giving 2-10 boxes of short comments, I think it needs to list them in order.
Yes I know that those boxes prevent spoilers, however, they don't aid me at all in finding X item on map Q.
Definitely not one of Cassady's best guides, but it helps complete the game to the bare minimum.
The Best strategy guide out there........2007-05-07
This has to be the best strategy guide out there that I have seen for this game. It is detailed on where to go for the side quests and has great strategies for defeating your enemies. A must buy.
good.......2007-03-19
im glad i was able to play VIII and it's such an amazing game just like IX is too. like the same with it, the guide could have been better but it's still good

Customer Reviews:
Its cool, til you get to the horseshoes, oysters, etc........2007-08-13
I agree with all the negative reviews on this page. The rest of the guide is awesome, but the locations of the Horseshoes, and Oysters are off, sometimes way off. I finally had to write down the places where they were so I would not forget. not much thanks to editors, but on the other hand, they made a great guide, sans the location maps.

As everyone already knows from reading the other reviews here, this guide contains a vast amount of errors in regards to the Photo Ops and Horseshoes. I don't think that BradyGames has published a corrected version, which they could offer in exchange for the flawed version. However, they have released corrected information on their website:

Strategy Guide Review.......2007-04-02
Strategy guide is a good starting point to help play the game, some of the tags aren't 100% accurate.

I got this for my sister........2007-09-27
She got the game also and says it helps out a lot especially with this type of game.
Don't Waste your money! .......2007-07-20
I was a fan of the first Kingdom Hearts Guide, but this on is completely lacking! it does not offer information to help you along in the game, it merely tells you what you already know!
waste. of. money.
Great Book!.......2007-05-14
This is a very good strategy guide. It has loads of infomation for all the characters as well as all the villians. You definately need this book to play the game.
Awesome Guide.......2007-04-12
Awesome walkthrough in terms of the game; does give a lot of heads up information that becomes critical, but given the content of the game, it is alot to read! Also includes awesome artwork and pics from the game, full area maps and previous gamer advice. To find EVERYTHING, I suggest picking up a copy of this.
MISPRINTS!!!.......2007-04-07
You're not gonna find a better guide than this, but there are a couple annoying misprints I've caught.
1. The info for Lightning Gems & Lightning Crystals is swapped.
2. Crystals canNOT be bought at Moogle Shops, no matter how many you get. (I have 156 Blazing Crystals, and have never been able to purchase them.) There's also not a slot for accomplishing this on the Synthesis's "Lists," furthering suggesting it's impossible.
Just lettin others know.

Customer Reviews:
speedy delivery.......2007-09-25
I was very pleased with the speed in which my game guides came in. They were perfect when they arrived and I was very excited to start using them.
Good, but flawed.......2007-08-18
I have read the other reviews, and have agreed with many of them. The thing i am getting pissed off about is the blitzball section. It is incredibly vague and i figured it would tell me exactly what to do in the beginning to form a great team, nor did they even think to say "formation 2,3,2 is the best strategy to score a goal, they leave alot of it out.
It is best to have it, as a refrence. But gotta say, the people who play it, IE the kids and teens across the world can form one helluva a better strategy guide then an 40 year old man EVER could. [...].
Could have been even better if the game was better.......2007-06-09
Another beautiful strategy guide, in the vein of the Final Fantasy XII guide. Big, pretty, and full of stuff. This guide spells out exactly how to get 100% completion after the walkthrough - I'm not ambitious enough for that, but I can see useful it is. The information in the walkthrough is a bit jumbled, and the superfluous charts and tables dilute the walkthrough itself, but in a way that's a consequence of the non-linear gameplay. I like the outlines of the dresspheres, which would have otherwise been difficult to get used to, and the bestiary, which includes Oversoul statistics.
What I don't like is the presentation itself. It's very easy on the eyes, but it seems like they were making the guide to be big rather than using a big guide to the fullest extent. I wasn't crazy about the game, but I'm trying to keep that from affecting my rating of the guide, because I find the book form to be quite satisfying.
Great game, guide could've been better..........2007-04-05
I tell you, I LOVE this game, but the guide is not that well organized. It provides TOO much info, without giving readers easy and clear access to the info they are really looking for. I've also found few "errors" in the guide that I have not seen in any other Bradygames guides. I own quite a few, and the guide to FFX and Kingdom Hearts were quite exceptional. Now, I understand that the game is a nonlinear game, but they could've at least put in an index or table of contents to make finding info about a particular subject easy to find. I also found a few spelling errors. It almost seems they rushed the guide. Great images and some easy to follow maps, but otherwise, you can find better walkthroughs for free on the internet.
Great guide, only a few minor flaws.......2007-03-22
I found the guide to be very useful but there were some omissions that I found to be annoying.
The Goods:
1) Complete skill list for each dresssphere and garment grid. Great info and very well-done!
2) Breakdown of quests by chapter
3) Mini-game section. Especially useful for multi-chapter games.
4) There is an index-thingy printed on each page so you know which chapter you are reading about at all times.
The Bads:
1) Accessory list doesn't mention where the accessories can be found. You have to page through the entire walkthrough to find a specific item.
2) You can do things in the game that make it so you can't get an item without being warned. For example, it isn't made clear that you must talk to one certain person in each chapter to get the "Invincible" accessory until you get to chapter 5 and realize you are out of luck...Start over or go without it.
3) Towards the end chapters the authors get lazy and stop including complete maps, so you have to go to previous chapters to find your way...sloppy.
Overall a great guide and I would give it a 4.75 if I could.

Sony a100 for Dummys.......2007-08-13
A good reference for the camera. We plan to take it with us on our next vacation - just in case!
Good but not great.......2007-07-18
This is a good but not great book. It does have some good features. But, most of what it tells you, you can find in the manual.
DSLR-A100 Field Guide.......2007-06-06
Well worth the money. Excellent reference book for learning DSLR camera use.
Best alternative.......2007-05-22
Also bought the Sony DSLR-A100 Digital Field Guide but the Magic Lantern Guide was more complete and detailed in it's coverage.
Useful and comprehensive handbook.......2007-03-31
This is a comprehensive and easy to follow handbook explaining all the features of the Sony Alpha 100, including photographs, illustrations and diagrams. It covers from basics through to advanced features and settings and goes much further than the handbook that comes with the camera. It certainly helps the reader understand how to get the best out of this user friendly but sophisticated digital SLR. Highly recommended.

Pretty good.......2007-10-07
Not a bad a game. I got it because it is getting harder and harder to find RPG games with the old fashioned turn based system. The enemies are a little cheesy, but the dialog isn't too bad. It also has the japanese animation feel to it. I give it a four because I have always been a fan of these type games. Final Fantasy I back umpteen years ago is what hooked me into these types of game...but FF now wants to incorporate real time into its games, so a game like this is a nice return to the turn based type games. I recommend this for those that like turn based RPG's, japanese animation AND if you like only loosing half of your gold money when you die...as opposed to having to start back where you last saved.
Great Buy.......2007-09-22
As strategy guides go, this one couldn't have been done much better. Graphically, the paper and coloring is great, but if you're expecting a ton of colorful Toriyama concept art you might be disappointed. As a reference it's one of the most useful I've purchased, and because Dragon Quest VIII is such a huge game, it really came in handy. Upon the first day using it I had already received alot of useful information I would have otherwise missed. Although not necessary to complete the storyline, this is an extremely useful resource for anyone trying to get the most out of their game.
another brady junk.......2007-05-17
just as most of their strategy guides, they use "no spoilers" as an excuse to NOT give you a lot of information. If you go by the stragy guide only, you will end up missing a lot of interesting places. There are much better walkthrus online, and free, too.
I buy a stragy guide for every RPG I own. The sole reason is to collect the artwork.
It's all right.......2007-04-11
I like the maps in the book and the alchemy list, but I was hoping for more of a walk-through.
dungeon_maps_only.......2007-02-27
this book simply dosen't tell you what to do. It provides maps and alchemy formulas only. For instance, I was in the libray about 20 hrs into the game. The book should have simply said what book to examine but it dosen't. The maps are okay, but the dungeons are usually smaller. The alchemy formulas are handy, but finding the items needed to make them are tedious. Right, now I have the ship and instead of telling you where to go, it provides a synapsis of the next town. Cross refercing it with the map it is usefull. Just be prepared to be frustrated that there are gaps in the walkthrough.

Customer Reviews:
Its useful and thats what matters.......2007-01-14
Yes, ok, it doesnt have all maps, but what matters is it IS very useful, I play ffxi a lot and i use the atlas a lot, I recomend it to any player that can afford to buy it.
It's a supplemental guide, not a stand-alone strategy guide.......2006-04-27
This book doesn't give as much information as the actual thick FFXI Strategy Guide. Heck, it's not even a strategy guide to begin with. It's a book that contains many of the maps of FFXI, both cities and dungeons. Take note, "many of the maps". There are a lot of missing maps and areas for some oddball reason.
The maps are personally drawn, meaning they don't use graphics from the actual maps from the game. This is good in some cases, especially the annoying maze-like Yuhtunga and Yhoator Jungles, where the actual map provided in-game does not include visible underground passageways, you can still get lost despite the map provided to you. The maps in this book include "dotted line" pathways just so you could "see" those underground passageways and where they are located on the map.
This may or may not be good for some of you, but it also has extra information and advice that you may or may not need, like Notorious Monster spawnpoints and an explanation on what these Notorious Monsters drop and why you need them (I call these monster drops "droppings"). It also has supplemental advice on where to buy good weapons, whether items are better bought in the Auction House or in NPC shops, the works. Personally I find these paragraphs a lot more interesting than the maps themselves.
Be mindful though, and I can't stress this enough. THIS IS NOT A STRATEGY GUIDE, BUT IT'S EXTREMELY USEFUL IF YOU BOUGHT IT TOGETHER WITH THE ACTUAL THICK FFXI STRATEGY GUIDE. Don't buy this alone unless you already own the FFXI Strategy Guide. If you do buy it but don't own the actual FFXI Strategy Guide then IMO it will definitely leave you hanging, but not necessarily a waste of money.
Inexcusable; Brady should be ashamed.......2005-11-08
Do not waste your money on this steaming load. Not only is it missing a TON of maps (CoP zones, I can understand.. but no Boyahda, Quicksand, Onzozo, etc.?); for the maps it does have, that's just about all you get - a map. There's a little info on some NM pop locations, but that's it. This guide doles out useful information very sparingly. Not a single damn coffer pop location.
As if being an ATLAS WITHOUT MAPS wasn't enough, the guide is spotted with misinformation here and there. For example, don't try to use this guide if you need to go to a specific location in Western Altepa Desert - the grid is completely wrong.
The one useful thing you get from this guide is level ranges and aggro information for different mobs in different zones. Knowing whether raptors in the Valley link or not is a good thing.. for this, I give the Brady Atlas 1 star.
Good, but not great........2005-10-07
This atlas, in my opinoin, is pretty good, but not complete at all. It does give you a lot of maps, but only the ones you start off with, or can buy/quest - none from coffers. (Maybe with the exception of Castle Zvahl, I can't remember how you get that map)It does give you a fairly accurate list of monsters and nms along with reccommended levels and some pop locations. Also, it does have maps of towns with some usefull NPC locations. So, if your a beginner, I would definetely reccomend it, since it can get you around for quite a few levels, but the more experienced players don't really need it, unless they really want to save a few gil by not buying maps.
Collectors only.......2005-09-16
As I bought it for collecting purposes only, I wasn't overly disappointed with the content. It covers all the original FFXI areas (I think), some of the Zilart ones but lacking many dungoen maps like all Sky zones, uggalepih, cauldron, boyahda, quicksand, kuftal, SSG, onzozo, ie the coffer/chest ones.
[...]
There is no CoP content at all. Some NM spawn spots are missing especially in Zilart maps, but there is a more comprehensive "NM Drop Table" that includes areas they didn't have maps for, no COP. There's also info on BCNMs and Dynamis but u can't expect them to be complete given the nature of the game.
The advice and quest info they give for each area is really only helpful to a
For its usefulness, it'll depend on how many maps you've collected and your knowledge of NMs. Anyway I wouldn't buy this book as a refence since there are much better ones online.
As a collectors item, the Amano art on the covers (4x A4 sides) is very nice, I wished it came with more of it. Otherwise it's the same quality as their FFXI strategy guides.

good overview.......2007-10-01
a good simple no-nonsense guide to the camera...amkes the learning curve far shorter if you're not used to a sophisticated digital camera.
A Pretty Good Guide but not the Best.......2007-09-27
I found this to be a well-written and generally helpful guide to using the Sony DSLR-A100, far easier to follow than the manual that came with the camera. However, I found that for my purposes the Magic Lantern guide (titled simply SONY DSLR A 100 and also available from Amazon), which is comparable in cost, to be more helpful. While it lacks the color pictures of this guide, the trade-off for me was the more detailed information in the latter guide about the camera itself. In short I found that the "Digital Field Guide" tended to be simply a generic guide to DSLR cameras with Sony DSLR information pasted in wherever the author found it appropriate. The Magic Lantern guide on the other hand was Sony DSLR specific from the get-go (and you can by a parallel Magic Lantern DVD that is outstanding).
The Perfect companion.......2007-09-17
This book is excellent and very clear. All functions of the camera is explained in depth - this book should have been in the camera box. I never go without it and it is always in my backpack for a quick reference or so.
Should have came with the camera.......2007-09-08
This is the book that sould have come with the camera. It is clear, easy to use and even a bit fun. The information is very specific but also would help you if you had other cameras. I started with a DVD guide for the A100 and ended up buying this from Amazon. Glad I did, now I have some shots to show people and not feel like I waisted my money on this great DSLR. Perfect book to get started with.
Sony Alfa Field Guide.......2007-07-30
The book is very complete, the photographs in color are fantastic and with technical information treated in a very symple way for everybody to understand.

I thought I was buying a strategy guide, not a hyperlink........2007-06-09
I have pretty much the same gripes as everyone else. Although the Internet is faster, more widespread, and more reliable than when this guide was first released, I still don't approve of essentially half of the guide being on PlayOnline. It's a nuisance to have to stop in the course of a game, and it takes the information away from your fingertips. Aren't you entitled to have the full guide in front of you at all times, seeing as you paid for it? I think so.
The bestiary is also very lacking, so much that I don't even refer to it. The descriptions of boss battles seem thrown together at the last minute, and they don't really offer much insight. There is a wealth of information about the game in here, so the guide isn't worthless, but I still would have liked a much better one.
This is supposed to be a guide?!.......2007-06-05
Almost everywhere you look in this book, it basically tells you "Go to this website blah blah blah to know this secret"...
What a rip-off!
KeyCode Online?!?! .......2007-05-12
I usually like play the Final Fantasy more than once. I had to restart some of Final Fantasy games because, I missed a lot of items or some of side-quests. I bought the guide book for Final Fantasy VI and I was able to follow through it without any trouble. However; I bought the guide Book for Final Fantasy IX Well, I can't believe you HAVE TO go ONLINE every TIME you want to find out more about the items or side-quest and you have to go online and type the stupid keywords to find out, Which is complete waste of time! The problem is here, when you DO go online The FF9 keyword Or even the FF9 site itself isn't on there anymore! So, it was kind of pointless of buying this book. Since you are better off with Gamefaqs or Rpgclassic walkthrough.

Final Fantasy IX.......2007-03-08
Not much of a helper. Youd be better off just looking things up online. Besides, thats what I did after I bought the guide. Refers to a website that no longer exist without intensly searching google with the right criteria.
