This book was given to me by a good friend. Before I had a chance to read it, I had the pleasure of hearing Ms. Gaines speak in person. Not only is she a very funny person, who has no trouble laughing at herself, but she is also someone who lives what she writes. I went home and read this book, and my life was immediately transformed. Transformed in the sense that I knew what beliefs I needed to change to enhance my personal sense of prosperity, to create a higher sense of well-being.
If you have any stumbling blocks on your road to success, read this book. Your life will be greatly improved from a spiritual and financial perspective.

It is focused on all areas of our lives and so gave us guidelines to prosper, not only in our finances, but in our health and happiness. I thought this book looked very interesting. I read a few positive reviews and then went to the author's website. On the website you can download 5 free "chapters". These "chapters" are a page or two of generic business advice until you get to the last page. Here the author describes how you can make a million dollars by purchasing and selling his books. Ugh. What a dissappointment!

When I saw the price of The Millionaire Maker, I thought it was a joke. Then I was appalled. Then I read the book at a show in Geneva, and I was amazed. I quickly handed over my credit card to acquire my copy of this amazing book. The Millionaire Maker is like a doctoral course in wealth and fulfillment taught by some of the greatest minds in business, technology, finance, literature, the arts and engineering. Mr. Schmelz has melded all this great advice and priceless wisdom into a book that, while quite large and heavy, is astonishingly easy to read and understand. Yes, $995 is a hell of a lot to pay for a book. But there is no other book on earth like The Millionaire Maker. I cannot recommend it too highly.

Retired Justice Macklin Fleming argues that in its quest for money, the legal profession has lost sight of its true tasks and responsibilities, with the result that the profession is rife with client dissatisfaction, public distrust, and individual lawyer discontent. Money is now the measure of success, he says, and honesty has been diluted, while fiduciary responsibility has eroded. Fleming elaborates his case with unusual rigor. "In the quest for the brass ring of financial success, corner-cutting, absence of candor, and distortions of fact have become increasingly tolerated, to the extent that clients, the public, and lawyers themselves no longer have a sense of trust and confidence in the legal profession." Obviously, changes are needed, and unless they come from within the firms themselves, lawyers can be sure that they will come from individuals, agencies, and organizations outside these firms. Attorneys in all kinds of practices, their clients in all sectors of the economy, and academics concerned with the practice of law in all its dimensions will find Fleming's book informative, challenging, and certainly provocative reading. Fleming starts by examining what he sees as a paradox: a large increase in lawyers' fees despite a fourfold increase in lawyer numbers and a threefold increase in their proportion of the general population. "What happened to the law of supply and demand?" he asks. After tracing the history of the large corporate law firm and its dominance within the profession, he shows how cost-effectiveness within large firms has declined while at the same time what he calls "the magic of the emperor's new clothes" has suspended the law of supply and demand. He discusses excessive legal fees, their resistance to client and court controls, and relates his discussion to the present pervasive distrust of lawyers among the public. Fleming outlines the four existing challenges to business-as-usual by lawyers and law firms, and then ventures his own analysis of the needed future changes in law firms. These include professional law firm management under a less archaic structure, effective integrity and quality controls, cost-controlled delivery of legal services, and increased job satisfaction for its working lawyers.

With the increase in financially comfortable, well-to-do, and extremely wealthy families has come a need for literature which prepares heirs to meet the financial, human, and intellectual challenges they face as they work to develop successful, long-lasting families and legacies. Most such families are aware of and want to overcome the well-known "shirtsleeves to shirtsleeves in three generations" syndrome: from broke to broke or from little to little in three generations as family cohesivesness and motivation wane.
While much of the current literature on family success and legacy focuses on financial aspects, James E. Hughes concentrates on the human and intellectual issues of successful families, though he does not ignore financial concerns. Not does he limit his advice to the wealthy; all families who want to prepare their future members to develop successful legacies could find much of value in his writings.
His previous book, "Family Wealth: Keeping it in the Family," offered guidelines for conserving family assets by delineating practices, principles, and the roles of experts who can assist with these tasks, concentrating on the jobs of family members as they attempt to develop a cohesive structure for family preservation and legacy.
This book, "Family: The Compact Among Generations," continues this discussion, but emphasizes designs and schema for family educational programs that help family leaders direct succeeding leaders and generations in their tasks. He believes that the successful family works to help family members fulfill their dreams, visions, goals, and hearts' desires as a means of enriching the expanding family and increasing its worth. He urges members to set up structures that allow this to happen. These suggestions are as specific as providing lists of psychological tests that help family members identify their hearts' desires through determining their intellectual, learning, problem-solving, work, and personality styles. The suggestions are also general enough to suggest different curricula and formats to help the various generations meet their challenges and jobs without restricting their growth.
Hughes is especially helpful to the second generation as it meets its obligations and solves its particular dilemma: keeping alive the dreams of the first generation without slighting their own dreams and aspirations.
However, Hughes is no Pollyanna-ish softy. He knows that any educational program, no matter how carefully constructed, will never result in all family members happily meeting their potential and increasing family worth without manipulative, dominating, destructive, or self-aggrandizing types showing up. He writes about how to work with these members, too.
Most of the book provides clear, precise, easily read discussions of how to encourage successful family development and long-lasting success using the advice and research of historians, spiritual leaders, psychologists, and other experts on family affairs. The book becomes harder to read where Hughes is less sure, where he is still formulating his own concepts and understandings.
Persist. His insights are well worth the effort.

Worthless mumbo jumbo.......2007-05-14
Don't expect to find any real useful information in this volume. It is only a philosophical piece that describes how you should think about money. It can be summarized as followed: there is an abundance of money on the planet, admit that you want and love money, be true to your goals, and be generous with others. If you do so, all the money you will ever need need will come your way. He suggests that you put a lit candle in a window for a week along with a letter saying that you want money for all the good you've done in this world, and ......voila ! A truckload of money will soon be dumped in your lap. (This is how the author puports to have obtained $15,000. WOW.) He does realistically admit that it might take a little longer than one week....so get several candles he says. Skip this book and pick up a good investment guide.
The difference between the tramp and the millionaire.......2007-05-13
The Little Money Bible is all that and more. There is nothing little about this book at all. It should be the big money bible all you need to know at your fingertips. Stuart Wilde brings us to an understanding of what money is in our lives. He points out throughout the book that it is all energy. He also speaks to us that money is all about feeling. In these eternal truths he also causes us to pay attention to the game of life. He points us in the direction of the inner game which is a great metaphysical truth that is understood throughout the ages.
I love when Wilde points out by saying, "The difference between the tramp and the millionaire is an almost imperceptible shift in consciousness and vitality." With this thought in mind we can understand that all things move by reason of the mind. This book will teach you about the laws of abundance and the learned art of manifestation. When you discover the principles in this book it will wow your mind and cause you to start to think of money in a correct mindset. The little money bible should be kept by your bed or in your purse. You should not only read it but peruse it so that every thought can be digested to the level you can handle in mind. The point he makes in the book is that you must align money with right thinking. You will never attract money if you think it is evil. That is why everyday I say "I love money and money loves me." This statement started to free me from religious bondage that would have me to kick the good money from me. I recommend this book to those that are a thinking mind. And remember what the mind can conceive it will achieve if it is held long enough in thought. Bless you all.
Abridged Version of The Trick to Money is Having Some..........2007-04-15
I'm a HUGE FAN of Stuart Wilde. I bought and read his other book, The Trick to Money is Having Some.
This book is an abridged and updated version of his other book. Still, even with the same info as the other book, it has additional info that doesn't seem to be in the other book.
I keep both books very close to me. I take this book on trips with me so I have immediate access to his info in a short but sweet format that this book provides.
Both of his "money" books, as I call them (this book and The Trick to Money is Having Some, highly recommended) have changed my life. His methods and techniques are immediately usable and practical.
If you're tired of the typical metaphysical "attraction" books out there, THIS is the book for you. Most other books tell you to change your thinking and, I guess as the theory goes, a suitcase full of money is supposed to show up at your door.
Stuart Wilde realizes was a bunch of malarky that concept is and tells you HOW to work with the RULES OF THE WORLD in order to have boatloads of money show up at your door. However, you have to DO SOMETHING to get the money...Not just "think positive" and have checks arrive to you from the clouds. That's not how life works.
His work is superb. You'll be missing out if you pass on this book. You MUST get this book if you want to fully understand how to make "life" work for you so you can make as much money as possible.
