Book Description
The real keys, the seeds, necessary to develop a truly meaningful life.
Customer Reviews:
The best of the best.......2007-06-18
This is probably Dennis Waitley's best work in the self-help genre.
He attributes greatness to having ten "seeds" in abundance. These seeds are essential, according to Waitley, and no one has ever gotten far in life without them. Some of the seeds are self-esteem, creativity, respect, and purpose. He provides a reasonable-length chapter on each seed, and tells why it contributes to greatness. With self-deprecating humor, and entertaining stories and illustrations to further enlighten and thrill the reader, Waitley makes a compelling case for not ever having to buy another self-help book. Any one who wants to become successful and happy would greatly profit from this inspirational read.
Incredible Motivational Text........2007-02-05
Author Dr. Denis Waitley shows the reader in easy to understand language how to combine positive attitudes with your inherent natural aptitudes and abilities to, among other things:
1. Change your life style for the better.
2. Choose goals and then follow Waitley's steps to attain them.
3. Be a self-manager by building self-reliance, using self-talk, and enhancing your self-esteem.
4. Make the right decisions in your life by asking yourself the three vital questions.
5. How to understand what makes you tick and to be understood.
Dr. Waitley also shows the reader how to gain a fresh perspective of living each new day as the ten best kept secrets of total success are uncovered. Those secrets are the following "seeds":
1. The seed of self-esteem.
2. The seed of creativity.
3. The seed of responsibility.
4. The seed of wisdom.
5. The seed of purpose.
6. The seed of communication.
7. The seed of faith.
8. The seed of adaptability.
9. The seed of perseverence.
10. The seed of perspective.
A very inspirational and motivational treatise. I rate it at five stars without hesitation or reservation.

The best self-help book.......2007-01-30
I love this book. I am reading it again for the third time. It can be applied to your professional or personal life. Now as I am going through it again, I can see many applications for raising my kids to be great as well.
It is not complete.......2007-01-03
I have the "Seeds of Greatness" on audio tape. I wanted it on CD. So I ordered it on CD.
The audio tape version is 4 tapes which represent about 3 hours of audio.
The CD is missing all of the great illustrations and only represents about 1/3 of the audio tape and book version.
Very disappointing.
The Best.......2005-12-03
In my opinion, Mr.Waitley is the best self help/business leadership speaker in the world. After listening to his tapes, I feel more confident in my personal and business life. He emanates a common sense direction and set of philosophies which are easy to follow and quite infectious. Waitley's humble and non-boastful manner is very effective. I first listened to his tapes in the late 1980's when I was at a critical time in my life, working full-time and going to broadcasting school. His steady and soft-spoken self confidence helped me through some of the tough and lonely times of being a young person struggling in the world. Thank you Denis for your good work! You have helped many people.
Book Description
A life-changing program to teach women and men the feminine way to start a business, develop self-confidence, self-love, and gain a new outlook on life.
Lynne Franks is one of the best-known public relations consultants in the world. In the years since she first began working from her own kitchen table, she has advised and guided women entrepreneurs from diverse cultural backgrounds across the globe.
In The SEED Handbook (Sustainable Enterprise and Empowerment Dynamics), Franks pulls together a twelve-stage program that is both an economic and personal growth tool. It contains practical exercises to give readers the confidence to trust their abilities, passions, and values to enable themselves to create something organic that grows naturally from who they are as people. Franks shows how to keep the dream alive with marketing, business planning, marketing launches, and case histories.
The women and men who Franks uses as examples are creating consciously ethical and responsible businesses based on integrity and love. Like them, many of us desire to start a sustainable enterprise but are too fearful. The SEED Handbook helps break the social conditioning and lack of confidence, find support, mentors, and plant the seeds that can create the garden we want to have in our lives.
With Franks's handbook, readers will not only become members of a thriving SEED community, but also happily take responsibility for their lives.

Inspirational feminine intuition and intellect.......2005-03-04
A great inner workbook to get the prosperity consciousness going. Very affirmative in tone and lots of anecdotes. A list of other resources is included to continue learning about blending soul with capitalism. Best to use the Suze Orman books in conjunction with one such as this. Franks offers the inner wealth techniques, Orman outlines actually action strategies to bring money and abundance into physical existence.
There are better books on the market.......2001-03-29
Although I believe Lynne Franks has good insight for people who want to start their own business, I found it annoying the way that she would name drop and take credit for the success of others. If you are looking for an uplifting book that will help you take the next step toward running your own business, I would recommend, "Building a Business the Buddhist Way : A Practitioner's Guidebook" by Geri Larkin. This book provides the inspiration to take the next step and more practical advise on how to write a business plan and get started.

Book Description
A son of the conservative South and president of his college’s Young Christian Club, Dave Smith was radicalized by Vietnam. The young Porsche-driving computer programmer went to work with César Chávez during the formative years of the United Farm Workers. From there, Smith became instrumental in founding a series of businesses — including the seminal gardening and lifestyle company Smith and Hawken — that planted the seeds for the now-burgeoning organic and sustainable business movements. In this fascinating memoir of his transformation, Smith shows how business can be a force for radical change, that business driven by simple core values — not the hijacked values of right-wing extremism but common values of compassion and decency — can truly make the world a better place. To Be of Use is both an entertaining, stirring read and a thoughtful guide to making our work lives personally meaningful again.
Customer Reviews:
Didn't Work for Me.......2007-10-14
I kept reading Smith's "To Be of Use" hoping for some nugget of truth or new spin on an idea, but somehow the book didn't just come together for me. I find his writing style to be more of a grocery list of his personal accomplishments and readings, rather than a thoughtful analysis and synthesis of experience. We need more business leaders that share Smith's value-system, but this book just wasn't compelling for this reader.
Inspiring and thoughtful.......2007-05-05
The worldview expressed in this book is built on a foundation of ethics, decency, and humanism. Smith speaks to what Lincoln called "the better angels of our nature" in outlining not only a culture of work but an overall sensibility that can transform our productivity and relationships. What the author does exceedingly well is to show how the transformative values of the Sixties have been manifested in the new world of business and work. The cynics, of course, write off that decade as an era of excess and hypocrisy. Smith demonstrates that those values are alive and well and growing in the very institutions that define our lives. Idealism can generate change, and it's time we acknowledge it.
Inspiring and engaging.......2006-10-26
Dave Smith is a man of vision who walks his talk. He's brought values and conscience to his business ventures, and has rubbed elbows with many others who've done the same. He's unassuming and down-to-earth as he shares not only his experiences but the meaning behind them, and the impact a host of fellow Creative Action Heroes have had on their small communities and the world at large. "To Be of Use" entertains with Dave's characteristic easy, familiar voice, and it inspires those of us who hope to put our visions into action, and be truly useful in our work and in all the choices we make each day.
More than meaningful work.......2006-04-25
Dave Smith's book on finding meaningful work reminds me to strive to lead a meaningful life based on my own values. The author's honesty and humility in telling his own story from preacher's son to assistant to Cesar Chavez to founding meaningful businesses kept me engaged throughout. I found his spiritual beliefs reassuring and inspiring. Anyone searching for meaningful work or a meaningful life should find this book most helpful.
To Be of REAL Use.......2005-12-08
Dave Smith is the true unsung hero of his remarkably inspiring book. For business people to walk-the-walk and maintain their professional and private life with true sustainable comittment is noble. Dave's book will inspire those who are on the path of considering healthy models of entrepenearship and also rekindle many who are searching for soulful innovation. This book ignites thinking for the long term...it is good, and kind, and genuine.

The book introduces young people to the strong and wonderful knowledge of positive thoughts as life building materials. They will learn to examine and analyze their thoughts, to delete bad thoughts, and to save good thoughts. Day-by-day, as the reader works gathering good thoughts and shooing away bad thoughts, realization will dawn on him or her the truth---they have stored within their thinking process an extremely valuable treasure. Customer Reviews:
Not a great investment.......2007-09-14
Book does not have a lot of solid information a gardener can use. Lots of beautiful photos but not enough tips to succeed on creating a garden from seed.
Gardening From Seed The Keys to Success With Flowers and Veg.......2001-08-01
Not too bad. Good for beginner as a general overview but not enough information I was expecting to find.
Martha Knows How to Garden!.......2001-07-11
Gardening from Seed is a very indispensible book about gardening . It covers all aspects of gardening, from flowers to vegetables. I love this book !!!!!
From Seed to Sow, but What Next?.......2000-04-09
The latest installment of the Martha Stewart book collection is, of course, filled with extravagant, glossy pictures, tips from insiders, and suggested retailers from whom to buy certain products which, presumably, Martha uses herself. However, this tiny book leaves something to be desired. First, several terms are introduced in the meat of the book that are never defined in the glossary or elsewhere (e.g. "deadheading"). Second, the instructions stop at the outdoor-planting phase, thus failing to inform readers on how best to prune plants and how to harvest seeds directly from plants for future use. Third, there are a number of typographical errors not usually associated with Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia. While the plant index toward the back of the guide is useful, as is the section on tips for eradicating garden pests, your best bet is to purchase a more thorough (and, yes, more expensive) book from Burpee or Better Homes and Gardens if you want an in-depth and all-inclusive guide to the world of gardening from seed.
Just the ticket.......2000-03-25
I bought a house in February (my first) and was so excited to plant that I started seeds indoors ... then came: "What do I do now! " This book is helping me grow all kinds of vegetables and flowers indoors first, in anticipation of Spring, Summer, Fall .... thanks, Martha.
Book Description
The Secret of the Seven Seeds tells of the successful entrepreneur and writer David Fischman's struggle with his out-of-control life. In this fascinating and instructive book, he reveals his personal story through the fictional character Ignacio Rodriguez. Ignacio is 40-something stressed-out entrepreneur who is utterly overwhelmed—he is at risk for a heart attack, is losing money at his business—where employee morale is at an all-time low, and has no time or energy for his family. At first, he ignores these problems, thinking that if he only works harder, things will all get better. Predictably, his life quickly gets out of control. His doctor recommends that he try meditation to regain balance in his life. Ignacio—who is skeptical—finds a spiritual guide, who helps Ignacio heal by finding his path in the secret of the seven seeds. The seven seeds represent the path to success and balance in life: self-knowledge, meditation, egolessness, service to others, goodness, balance, and freedom.
Customer Reviews:
I highly recommend this book.......2007-08-30
What I enjoyed the most about this book is that it deals with the steps that a businessman needs to follow to obtain inner peace and therefore success in life.
Highly Recommended!.......2007-02-22
David Fischman has a wonderfully loving way of expressing truths through the "Master" character that makes them easily understood. I really like his approach and have already passed this book on to the next person who I know will benefit from it. It's no coincidence that this book became available to me the way it did. The connections that are made between our thoughts, actions and reactions and our past is clearly illustrated and the message cannot be missed. If you are truly ready to move beyond the seduction of historical thought processes that affect all areas of your life, get this book. A great read and a wonderful AH-HA! Enjoy!
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED READ.......2007-01-28
The Secret of the Seven Seeds was a gift to me from the universe and David Fischman. I really enjoyed this book and the lessons from each seed about life. Thank you to the universe and everyone involved regarding this great book.

This book is the best I've read in some time, You're compelled to read on and find out what Ignacio will discover about himself, the master and life- You'll find many of Ignacio's issues familiar, the journey much like your own- I believe anyone who wishes to live a more fulfilled, spiritual and compassion based life would benefit from the lessons of this book-
Many thanks to Mr. Fischman and the unknown donor who so graciously helped to spread the secret-

A profound joy!.......2006-02-10
I got this book as a Kwanzaa gift from my aunt and at first, I didn't know what to expect. The title seemed a bit condescending and "Uncle Tom"-ish, and Wally Amos, the COOKIE GUY???? But since I am an open minded intellectual African, I read the book, to find that I could not put it down!
Amos, a brilliant entrepeneur, has succeeded because of his positive attitude and his joyous approach to life. He makes lemonade from life's lemons (or watermelons) and is so warm and wise, he reminds me of the village elders from Africa.
The book is filled with anecdotes and pearls of wisdom culled from his own experience, as well as the history of our people, and also from philosophers and writers as diverse as Confucius and Booker T.
I most strongly recommend this book to anyone, African or not, to lift their spirits and find a way to smile though adversity.
Very Inspirational.......2002-07-22
This is a great book that gives great advice about being an individual, working hard and about other aspects of life.
"seeds of wisdom, slices of life".......2002-05-26
This is a charming, uplifting, extemely honest little book, full of nuggets of wisdom, and a glimpse into Amos' life. Measuring not much more than 5 x 7, it would make the perfect stocking stuffer, or gift for someone who needs some encouragement and a few positive thoughts.
Wally has been an adventurous soul, and has a wonderful, easy and humorous way with words. He's had his ups and downs, but has known how to get by with a fearless zest for living.
The layout is excellent, and unlike some books of this type, has no wasted space. Its 9 chapters are separated by choice quotes from wise folks like Confucius and Mark Twain, and a short "Wallymelon Lesson", like: "My experiences have shown me that life truly is a journey, and the less baggage we carry the easier the ride" (pg. 38).
I particularly liked the chapter that deals with the loss of his mother, "Gaining from Loss". It was tenderly written and quite moving. Though there's no new revelation in this book, it's an easy, refreshing read, like spoonfulls of cheer, with a lot of heart.
"...we are all strands in the tapestry of life. Whatever we do to the tapestry, we do to ourselves" (pg.83).
Incredible study on how to live your life to the fullest.......1997-03-11
So many aspects to self-help. I haven't quit talking about this book since I read it 3 weeks ago. I have purchased 3 copies so far to hand out as presents. Everybody should read this no matter what your age, you will gain a positive insight. It was recommended to me by my therapist who has been passing the "word"of Watermelon Magic on to everyone who will listen. I will be giving this book as a present to everyone that I know who has a birthday this year or Christmas or just "because they need it". The only unfortunate thing is that it is not on audio tape for the blind. Work on that
