Excellent Conditon.......2007-09-01
The book was delievered in great condition, within a moderately good time frame. It has proved very useful in my 1L studies!
A great buy.......2007-05-09
This book was a great edition to my studying arsenal for Civil Procedure. My exam was all multiple choice and this book really gets you in the mindset of thinking in terms of multiple choice questions. Each chapter is very concise and short, allowing you to work through the whole book in a short amount of time. Glannon's method of Black Letter introduction followed by a multiple choice question was really effective to learn the law QUICK and figure out how to apply it in a nuanced fashion. I literally had 2 days to study for a 4-credit Civ Pro class and this book did the trick. I would highly recommend it, even if your exam will not be multiple choice.
Great Study Guide.......2006-12-28
This guide is clear and easy to use. I used it to clear up questions while preparing my outline and it helped me on the exam. The study questions included in the book were a great way to practice applying the material before the exam.
Better than E&E, easy to follow........2006-05-03
Glannon is easy to read and understand, and he adds light moments that are welcome during intensive studying. I'm not a big fan of his Examples & Explanations. They are well done, but you basically have to use it throughout the semester along with your regular text book - and let's face, many of us are already pressured enough with all the regular reading. This book is one you can use in the last few weeks before exams, and really clear up any of the confusions on the main subjects. For me, it was invaluable for Personal, Subject Matter, and Supplemental Jurisdiction.
Owe my Civ Pro grade to this book..........2006-01-16
I bought the Glannon Guide instead of E&E sort of by accident, but it was fantastic. The E&E is also a great help, but this one is a faster read and the MC questions throughout the chapter are helpful for appying what you learn. I spent an entire day during finals week(s) reading this book, and it was the absolute best use of my time. Thanks Prof. Glannon =)
Book Description
Are you making the right decision to get into--or remain--in law? Whether you're a prospective law student, a current law student, or even a practicing lawyer, the decision to enter--or remain--in law ranks among the biggest career decisions you'll ever make. From the latest research on decision-making, authors Deborah Schneider and Gary Belsky have written a unique career-building guide that will help you evaluate and answer the most basic question facing you now: Should you really be a lawyer?
Customer Reviews:
Simple, but true.......2007-08-13
I can boil this book down to one thing: Do informational interviews with real attorneys in order to see if the law is right for you. The book has some lengthy and, in my opinion, not too useful self-assessment exercises. And just when they get you thinking that they are going to impart wisdom about what it is that real lawyers DO, they tell you to go out and schedule informational interviews with real lawyers. This is a great idea, but you don't need to read the book to get it. If you really can't think of enough questions for an informational interview, then pay the $10 to buy this book and use the appendix. Otherwise, don't waste your time.
Not the greatest buy.......2007-07-21
About the greatest thing about this book is cover which is even not that great. For someone who proclaims to have gone through law school as the author claims, the book is very poor in written form. The book also does a LOT of repeating and dressing up "facts" in a way that is often used by marketers to sell their product. Although there may be one or two good points in the book, most of it is common sense. Basically, it is an expensive way of telling you to ask yourself the questions as to whether or not you know what lawyers do and whether or not you have researched the field of law enough to have the confidence to head to law school. Like I said before, she (the author) has some valid points but everything in the book can be found online for free and is basic common sense. I would'nt suggest forking out the cash for this reading.
Bad editing and geared to college juniors.......2007-05-03
The major problem I found in this book is the lack of editing. There are serious grammatical errors, misspellings, missing punctuation and sentences with no logical end.
If you are thinking about attending law or graduate school, this book should be one of the first books to read in the junior year. The career strategies are extremely helpful to anyone making the drastic choices near the end of undergraduate studies. I felt like most of the information is useful to any student who are considering career counseling, since it will get you thinking about what life will be like after college.
Unfortunately, I have twenty years experience after college in the work force, learning and utilizing most of the strategies in this book. If you have worked in any career after college, then I wouldn't recommend this book.
Is there anything positive in this book..........2007-04-04
aside from the success stories of everyone who has left the legal profession? I appreciate some of the self-assesment tools, but the remainder of the book is filled with anecdotes about miserable law students and lawyers who were much happier when they made a school or career change. The subtitle should be changed to "NO! We don't think you or anyone should be a lawyer!" Ridiculous.
Pondering Law School..........2007-02-13
Two years ago I attended law school for a short period before quitting, and now I am interested in going back, but I wanted to evaluate my reasons for going back to make sure I was going back for the right reasons. This book was very helpful in doing just that. Also, as many reviewers have said, I wish I would have read this book before attempting law school the first time around because I think I could have avoided the pit falls that originally led me to quit. Reading this book was a big help and I would suggest it to anyone thinking about law school.

Good product but not economical........2006-12-09
I would have given this book five stars, however, it's not economical. Aspen publishers (publishers of this Q & A series) also publish Finz Multistate Method. The Finz product contains 196 tort multiple choice questions whereas the siegel's tort Q & A only has 92. Keep in mind that these products are published by the same publisher, therefore, the questions in the siegel's series appear in the Finz Multistate Method. Furthermore, the Finz product has Contracts, Property, Constitutional Law, and Evidence questions. However, the Finz product does not have essay questions but you could always google old essay exams and answers. By purchasing the Finz Multistate Method, you'll end up saving more money, have the convenience of having all the questions in one book, and have many more questions.
Great for Test Preparations.......2004-01-14
This book is extremely useful in preparing for a torts exam. In fact, the fact patterns on one of the questions was so great that my professor copied a large portion of it on our final exam question (the ethical side of that can be debated with Emory).
Helpful for learning the intentional torts.......2002-11-04
I entered Law School with a great deal of reluctance about any sort of commercial aids, especially flash cards. However, I have since discovered that some commercial aids are helpful with certain aspects of studying. These Torts flashcards have been valuable in helping me learn the elements of the various intentional torts, and spotting those torts in a hypothetical fact pattern.
This product should not be your primary means of learning torts, but I recommend them as a supplement, especially learning the elements of the Intentional torts!

Plagiarism?.......2004-09-28
Laurence H. Tribe has admitted that he plagiared several passages from Henry J. Abraham's 1974 book on Supreme Court appointments, Justices and Presidents. Research before you buy..

Book Description
How do customers decide what products and brands to buy? With the rise of sophisticated advertising and marketing research methods in this century, business leaders have spent billions of dollars attempting to answer this perplexing question. Occasionally, analysts emerge with suggestive trends, but ultimately with little hard evidence to support any definitive "laws" of customer choice. Now, in this much-anticipated major work, Eric Marder reveals how universal patterns in survey responses lead not only to general principles in marketing but to empirically verifiable laws of human nature itself. Drawing on forty years of applying his pioneering experimental design techniques to marketing research surveys, Marder presents a global theory of choice behavior, supported by original data reported here for the first time from thousands of massive real-life experiments based on millions of interviews. His dramatic findings about pricing, optimal marketing tactics, product evaluation, the relative role of product and image, and advertising effectiveness will make this book required reading for the entire marketing community. Of special interest to social scientists and survey research practitioners will be Marder's powerful research designs and techniques, including the unbounded write-in scale for measuring desirability (attitude) and his methodological analyses of the relationships among beliefs (perceptions), desires, choice, and behavior. In the Preface, he writes: "At the core of the theory are three laws of choice behavior the Law of Congruence, the Law of Primacy, and the Law of Persistence. These laws are both general and self-evident. At first glance, they are so self-evident that you might say: 'I have known this all along.' My reply is: 'Of course you have known it all along. But there is a difference between knowing and knowing, between the passive knowing that allows us to persist in actions that are inconsistent with what we know, and the active knowing that helps us change the way we do things.' I believe that knowing the laws of choice behavior-really knowing them -- changes the way we do things. My crass but stringent criterion has been that a good theory should enable someone equipped with it to make more money than someone who isn't. I believe my theory has passed this test."

Groundbreaking Treatise on Marketing Research.......2006-12-04
Eric Marder devoted more than four decades to the development and refinement of marketing research theory and practice. Each new study Eric conducted for his clients was a scientific experiment. Many studies led to new ideas and methodology to explore, test and validate. One of the things that makes The Laws of Choice so special is that it is the product of a man and his organization's ongoing quest to learn the truth. It would have been tragic had Mr. Marder not devoted the years of effort necessary to bring us such a rigorous review and analysis of his life's work.
Must Read For New Product Measurement.......2001-05-05
Mr. Marder and his company have been using this method for a number of years for some of the best know brands and it works. The concept is great although the methods can be expanded upon using advances in technology. If you are trying to find out what people think about product concepts this method provides straight-forward easy to understand direction.
A must read for anyone interested in marketing.......1999-09-15
THE LAWS OF CHOICE is one of the best books on consumer behavior, marketing and marketing research that I have ever read - and I have read a lot of books on these topics. Reading this book enriched me in four ways. First, it supported and strengthed my conviction that marketing can, and should, be an applied science based on EXPERIMENTAL research. Second, it taught me several valuable research design and measurement techniques - one of which, the unbounded write-in scale, I intend to use in my own academic research. Third, it gave me a lot of marketing research data on topics such as advertising, pricing, product design, and brand positioning. For example, I learned the results of over 100 studies that collectively indicate that consumer price sensititvity is as strong for inexpensive products as it is for expensive ones. Finally, reading this book gave me a new example of intellectual achievement to admire and be inspired by. As you may have surmised by now, this is a book of substance that does not make for light reading. However, the book is not difficult to read either. The arguments and writing are very clear and should be within the ability of any reasonably intelligent and thoughtful reader to understand. In my opinion, this book should be read by anyone with a serious interest in consumer behavior or marketing.
MISLEADING TITLE.........BIG LETDOWN!!!.......1999-08-20
This book was not what I expected at all, I was looking forward to hard definitive answers as to why consumers buy products. What I recieved was theory relative to doing research to find those answers. Mr. Marder lost me numerous times with his explanations of how to do the research and his graphs. I felt the book was more suited as a classroom text book, rather than for your average reading. While I respect his knowledge, work and experience as a researcher this book left me with the feeling that it was nothing more than an endorsment for the services he porvides in his business.
