Customer Reviews:
Another gem from Alan Cohen.......2007-10-01
I'll admit it, I really like most of Alan Cohen's work. He's a heart-centered author who usually combines highly useful content with a bit of humor. In this book Cohen shares real stories about real people who have manifested various levels of success in their lives, which makes it a highly practical book. I particularly liked the way he orgainzed the book around nine "wealth wisdom keys."
Perked me up!.......2007-08-06
I've been reading Alan Cohen's books for forever it seems. I loved them in the beginning and then, for some reason, I fell off the fan band wagon. This is the first one I've read in maybe ten years and I really liked it!
I have read many many of the prosperity writers, from Florence Scovel Shinn (great) to Charles Fillmore to Catherine Ponder to Shakti Gawain to Wayne Dyer. I've probably forgotten a few...oh yeah, I browsed The Secret but didn't buy it. So I can't say that much that Alan writes here is new, but he has such a captivating style that the old maxims came alive and I re-caught the enthusiasm that I once had and let die out.
To me, Alan embodies great intelligence, a wonderful sense of humor, practicality, authenticity and depth. Obviously his principles have worked for him, too, since his first book was written on a borrowed typewriter in a rented attic and now he seems to be living very well in Hawaii. Of all the writers I mentioned above, he's the one I'd most like to know! I bet he'd be a lot of fun!
I've given a number of his books away as gifts (not this one, yet) and everyone said they really liked them.
Attraction Lite.......2007-07-23
As others have noted, Relax Into Wealth presents basic Attraction principles in a framework of business. It's an enjoyable read but not an essential one. If you've got a tattered copy of Shakti Gawain's book, Creative Visualization, you've got the basic principles already.
However, there are just enough good pieces here to edge the book up to a "4" -- it's really a 3.5.
It IS true that good things tend to happen when we're relaxed and optimistic...but not always. We've all read narratives that begin, "X was relaxed and happy, looking forward to a wonderful day, when an oncoming car...or a sudden pain...'
So it's fun to read about getting upgrades to first class when you've relaxed with a drink in the airline lounge. But I wouldn't expect too much on your next airplane trip. I don't trust guidance from a series of good luck stories, any of which could be due to coincidence and luck. Randomness has far more power than most of us realize.
For some folks, getting a taste of luxury serves as a motivator: they work hard to get more. For others, it's no big deal.
I was a little perturbed by Cohen's visit to a dealership to test drive a car he had no intention of buying. Typically the lowest guy on the totem pole gets sent to service walk-in customers. In general, I don't like wasting time of innocent people who are working in any retail operation. If you want to test the feeling of luxury, buy something small.
And now for the good parts...
I like the idea of considering your beliefs about money. JC Penney grew rich by watching every nickel. Another person does well by writing checks and trusting the money will come.
Not all belief systems are accurate, and some become more or less true over time...but that's another topic.
The chapter on The Wisdom of Waiting seems really sound, with points we don't see often. It's not clear how this chapter fits the general theme of relaxing but it's accurate: Don't let a salesperson push you with a scarcity message, yet be aware that sometimes you really have a window of opportunity that will go away.
And there's one excellent and very practical marketing tip. Instead of running around promoting yourself, work hard to create a good reputation with the audience you have. I'm seeing a lot of Internet marketers rush to promote themselves, then disappoint their clients when they finally land one. Some have expanded so fast that they no longer provide solid, thoughtful service.
Bottom line: When Alan Cohen gets down to practicalities of business, he's really good. He frames his ideas to meet the most common reader tastes. For example, he calls a chapter, "Let the One in Least Fear Lead." I would be more likely to say, "Hand it over to the experts!" That's why he's got a best-seller, of course.
When he goes into the woo-woo stuff, he's less credible and more interchangeable with the hundreds of attraction folks out there.
Nothing new.......2007-07-12
Although written in an engaging fashion, this book is another rehash of the principles of the law of Attraction. The book contains many small chapters of three pages or so. Each contains a vaguely familiar vignette, followed by a self-assessment quiz and an affirmation. If you are new to manifestation and attraction, you will no doubt find this book helpful. If you have mastered the basics or if you are looking for a self-directed program focusing on wealth, you will be disappointed.
This is an easy and pleasant read, far superior to many offerings. It may be helpful for a motivational boost or a review. However, it does not come close to surpassing the masterful Dynamic laws of Prosperity by Catherine Ponder.
Spiritually inspiring and a great read!.......2007-06-30
This is without a doubt one of Alan Cohen's best books. He is right on target!

This product is very cute for teenagers that are about to go to college or get there first apartment.
Whether you are leaving home to live on your own.......2001-08-27
for the first time, or simply feel you have missed a few points along the way, this is the book for you. Tina Pestalozzi writes in a positive, matter of fact style about important matters such as financial planning, social skills, setting up a first apartment or home, and landing a job. I bought this book as a gift for a psychotherapy client who is planning on moving out of his family home for the first time. However in previewing it, I was reminded of some tasks I need to attend to in my own household: tightening up my long term financial plan and improving my organization skills, for example. This book is perfect for both young men and women who are starting off on their own. I can envision parents sitting down with their teenagers and going through the topics together. The book is set up perfectly for this kind of discussion. For those of you about to be on your own for the first time, enjoy! This is a time in your life you will always remember.
Master the challenge of living on your own.......2001-03-19
In Life Skills 101: A Practical Guide To Leaving Home And Living On Your Own, Tina Pestalozzi offers the reader a comprehensive, articulate, practical, sequential, and effective guide to the complete spectrum of skills required to successfully face and master the challenges of living on your own for the very first time. A complete spectrum of issues are addresses from consumer savvy, dining skills, and financial know-how, to job search success, money management, and workplace etiquette. Invaluable advice is offered on the necessities involved with maintaining a car, home, laundry, time, general well-being, and staying connected. Before leaving the parental home to strike out on your own, the most effectively beneficial preparation you can make is to give Tina Pestalozzi's Life Skills 101 a careful reading from first page to last.

a.k.a. Skills for Life.......2007-05-13
As textbooks go, this one was amazing. Not only was it helpful for the online class, but also it was full of detailed explanations about everything from the basics of balancing a checkbook, to opening own's own retirement account, to basic stock market accounting. I found the examples helpful and the text itself enlightening. I highly recommend this book and am glad to have it in my library as a consumer reference.

Go Girl Guide.......2007-03-15
I was expecting it to be a regular sized book, but it's a miniature.
Merely ok.......2005-12-02
I thought this book could have been much better. The chapters on dating and jobs are helpful. However, I just can't seem to get past the chapters on body image...To me it felt like the author was trying to say, "your gonna get fatter as you get older so you can better accept it now. You'll be even more fatter if you have children, so the sooner you accept this the better" Excuse me, but this is supposed to make me feel better about my body?
Maybe it would come across better if she said something along the lines of "You may find your metabolism slowing down, but thats nothing a little exercise and eating right can't fix".
I am almost willing to put money on the fact that the author is overweight cause this comes through very much in her writing.
That alone just made the book a rotten deal for me.
Some parts of the book rang true for me, like examples of how your mind changes as you age. But i really don't think there is much advice worth paying for.
Yes, but..........2005-07-24
Why is it that every book written for women devotes half its pages to men?
Other than this, it is a truly funny and honest book offering refreshing honesty in delicate areas and good advice in professional ones. Written in just a bit too much of the mega-drama!-and-oh-my-hysterical-crises style.
Cold Advice.......2005-06-16
I actually threw this book out after reading it, which is rare for me. I just thought a lot of the advice, such as how to handle old friends and family, seemed a bit cold-hearted. I understand that a person has to look out for herself, but a lot of the advice in this book seemed quite selfish. I would not recommend wasting your time with this book and figure out what's best for you on your own.
Sandy Vong.......2005-05-25
I really like this book. I read this book more than 3 times and each time I read it, I get something different out of it. My first time reading this book, I thought there is just a lot of common senses. Then I read it again when I moved out and discover more to this book, whenever I get lost, this book reminds me that it is all about life's ups and downs. I can't wait for her next book to come out.

One Satisfied Customer...........2003-06-11
As we all know, these people who write these books are'nt going to share every secret of the industry, but this book will bring you closer to those well hidden secrets. I have never bought a book that was so detailed in every aspect from hygiene, nails, hair braiding, weaving, cutting, and styling. I was very much so satisfied with the photos, illustrations, and information given in this book. Its is in fact all worth every penny.
Very good book for relaxed heads........2002-05-15
I have read many hair care books and this one is the best for relaxed hair. It is a text book. It has great pictures and step by step instructions. If you want to know how to wrap, fingerwave, make a basic roll, how to apply a relaxer, color etc, this book is for you. Better than a hair care magazine that shows mostly weaved hair. I'm a natural curly girl but I don't have a problem with healthy relaxed hair.

Simple instructions for the decision maker.......2004-02-16
The Smart Spot is an easily read book, written in simple language with simple instructions. The book is written with a friendly, enthusiastic tone. What The Smart Spot does best is to straddle both the business world and "New Age" type thinking which stresses the unseen but powerful energy of the individual and what it can accomplish, if only certain mental exercises are followed.
Skeptics may be won over by the success stories recounted in anecdotes. Business leaders report that they access an intuition from within themselves to make important decisions. The author dissects this process and makes it available to all, through a step by step process. Helpful details to the four step process are given, including using the color gold in visualizations, because of its particular "energy."
The Smart Spot stresses collaboration, not ruthless competition as a basis for success. The book emphasizes the best result for all concerned, as a refreshing change from those books which promote business strategies designed to conquer the competition. I think this would be a helpful book for a person in a decision-making capacity who is looking for a guide to help with important choices.
Pragmatic and clear guidance to access intuition.......2004-01-16
A treasure has landed in my lap in the form of Dia North's new book, "The Smart Spot." In my dance training, I'm always helping people get centered and aligned with their physical body so that they may experience freedom through movement. With Dia's clear and simple guidance, I can also assist myself and my students in contacting and connecting with the creative core of intuition and higher mind. What better place to listen from?

Spot On!.......2004-01-16

Powerful & Practical: Intention Plus - Process That Works!.......2004-01-14
This work unveils a well-tested new synthesis of concepts and lays out breakthrough methodology for managing personal power which literally brings deep spiritual wisdom "down to earth." Dia North's work is cutting edge with its sharp emphasis on an expanded redefinition of intuition as the intentional direction of the interactive functions of intellect, spirit, emotion, physical awareness, and more. The process North offers can be done effectively to achieve success in grand business collaboration, to create positive intended outcomes vis a vis a full spectrum of short-term personal goals, or to discover a creative path that will deliver on an individual's life purpose.
The Smart Spot is an experiential read, in that it carves out a clear path for consciously claiming and directing enormous freedom to yield desired outcomes with integrity. Stories from North's professional consulting practice spice the information liberally with real-life examples of how the process generates intended results. The implementation exercises, in combination, could be summed up as an indispensable manual for harnessing and focusing energy to hit the bulls-eye every time. Readers will recognize and trust the solid logic that emerges as they test out this fluid magic.
Deceptively simple and highly accessible, this book will be exciting and encouraging to anyone bent on realizing their dreams and having a good time doing it. The practical applications are unlimited because the method can be taken, layer by layer, to greater depths. This is a joyful book, destined to delight the hard-boiled pragmatist and the self identified "mystically attuned" with the same human punch and universal force.

Can you use the internet?.......2001-02-10
If you can use the internet, you do not need this book. There are no "big secrets" or earth-shaking revelations here. The information presented in this book is free to anyone who can do an internet search on whatever subject they are interested in. The only thing I learned from this book is how to compile readily available information and sell it for a profit. SAVE YOUR MONEY!
Useful book.......2000-11-29
All of those useful little tidbits of information people always end up learning the hard way are in this book. There is almost too much useful consumer information in here. I am sure this book will save me a huge amount of trouble later in life. If you've ever wanted a book that could instill years of knowledge and experience to help you out with all sorts of monetary concerns, this is the book for you.
It is filled with many benefits and future savings........1999-02-09
I was impressed with the sheer volume and accuracy of the information contained in this book. It is filled with many benefits, and the future savings in dollars is just amazing.
