Good book.......2007-10-19
This books is good for Google AdWords and worth the money. I didn't think it was as great as some of the others, but if you want to learn a lot about Google AdWords, you will learn new things in this book.
Not just common sense ideas........2007-10-17
Most books like this are a bunch of common sense things that most halfway intelligent people can think of themselves. This book is not like that. It is written to help anyone using Google AdWords. It will save you money and drive customers to your website by teaching you tricks unique to Google. I finished reading it and had two pages of ideas of things to change for my already successful Google campaign. I would highly recommend this book to anyone needing to do any Web campaign work. The authors also point out the unique things that Google can do for companies today that companies could not do before. If you have a good product, and can find the right words to convey your message, this book will help you do drive thousands of customers to your website for a very low price. Selling it still up to you, but the thought of driving people to your website who are actively seeking information on the product that you are selling, and paying a pretty small price for each click is/should be exciting to many a entrepreneur. This book will definitely help you to attain that goal.
My biggest complaint about the book is that there was nowhere to take notes in the book so that I could do all the things that this book made me think of.
Ultimate guide to Google Adwords.......2007-10-14
This is a great book for anyone advertising or thinking about advertising on Google. It is complete, and I believe a must read to save yourself time and above all money!
Worthy Companion for "Affiliate Millions".......2007-10-13
I got this book to supplement Affiliate Millions (Anthony Borelli). Affiliate Millions is the first and only book I have read on the topic of internet advertising as a business. I was looking for something to flesh out some of the topics Mr. Borelli introduces.
To my knowledge, Affiliate Millions is the only book devoted to the business of placing ads on Google to generate search traffic to various websites with the hope of collecting commissions through their affiliate programs. This business is sometimes called search engine marketing, affiliate marketing, paid placement, and so on.
Other books, such as the Ultimate Guide, address the topic of using Google AdWords to generate traffic for YOUR website. It's not quite the same as generating traffic for someone else but many of the principles apply.
You want to optimize your advertising campaigns for the highest placement at the lowest cost. The Ultimate Guide has a wealth of useful advice for this objective. The book has a thorough discussion of split-testing your ads to improve their "click-through rate." It introduces the "peel and stick" strategy for creating separate ads for the most effective keywords. There is extensive discussion of writing ad copy (which Mr. Borelli says is KING in affiliate marketing).
Yes, Ultimate Guide lives up to its name. It is an excellent companion for Affiliate Millions. Much of the advice can be adapted for the purposes of affiliate marketing.
For those who like to thoroughly research a business before jumping in, if you really want to understand search marketing, another excellent book is "Winning Results with Google AdWords" by Andrew Goodman. Goodman is a prominent authority. After you read his book, Ultimate Guide, Affiliate Millions, along with Google's own help screens and guides, you will practically be an expert.

Customer Reviews:
I Do Not Recommend This Book.......2007-10-23
I was disappointed with the content of this book. I am an absolute beginner when it comes to web-based business, and my intent was to learn all I could before launching my website. At times, the author wrote for a reader in terms so basic as to not be helpful on the topic (essentially, `marketing is important because it will increase your web presence and this is good and important because it can increase your sales and because more people will know about you' type of thing. Well, we know that--that`s why we bought the book!); then, at other times, the information was confounding, ostensibly written for a far more sophisticated reader (discussion on various website tags in HTML creation--huh?). The former (along with considerable repetition of these basic concepts) would likely bore those with any knowledge at all; the latter would likely exasperate the unseasoned website creator, raising more questions than the text offered answers to. Unfortunately, I fell in the middle of the spectrum of these two groups and often found myself bored and exasperated. The book itself could have been much, much shorter without removing any key information. Ironically, in his section on website automation, the author offers advice he fails to follow in his own work, among many others: be concise and to the point; don't make it longer than needed; answer all questions. These were my major quarrels with this book.
That being said, I cannot say I did not receive benefit from the reading. The author presents good ideas which might otherwise be overlooked, as well as providing websites to assist the e-business creator with various tasks and functions. Additionally, the author remains aware of the fact throughout that many small business owners do not have limitless budgets, and he is generous in his offering of websites where the reader can go to find free or low-cost assistance. If there are places the discussions fall short, at least the reader is now alerted that certain elements deserve attention, and can then seek alternative sources of information on point. As it appears the shipper was also the publisher, I want to say that I was extremely satisfied with the purchase process from this company. The book arrived very fast, was in perfect condition, and the company took the time and effort to check on my satisfaction without delay. I was very pleased, and, therefore, would have no problem ordering from this publisher again.
excellent.......2007-09-01
This is a great 1st time starter for small business. Anyone who's planning on starting an online business should definitely read.
It's exactly what I was expecting.......2007-08-25
This book is a really must-to read for brand new internet entrepreneurs like me. I'm quite happy about this purchase. I recommend.
Great Resource for Beginners.......2007-04-03
Bruce takes us through all the necessary points to get a website on track to benefit from traffic that can be resourced for little to nothing.
If you have a site that is sitting dormant, this is your book.
I found many basic tips which people may not know how to search for. It's all written out here in this guide.
A Useful Compendium. .......2007-03-16
The majority of the information contained in this book can easily be found by doing several web searches for various topics. That being said, I appreciate the ease of being able to browse through this book for the information instead of searching for information which may or may not be valid.
Within these pages you will find sections on everything from setting up an affiliate program to using banner ads and Google AdWords for your site. You will also find an extensive list of terms and abbreviations common to the e-commerce industry.
Although a bit of a dry read, I finished the entire book in the space of two days on vacation. In the process of reading, several creative marketing ideas popped into my head, so I definitely have the author to thank for that!
In the end, I am giving this book 4 stars for two reasons: 1) He repeats a lot of information, as if trying to stretch out his word count to meet his deadline. 2) Some of the chapters read like an advertise for companies that he either owns or is otherwise related to.
However, beyond those two points of contention, I highly recommend this book as a starting point for anyone who is just starting out in the e-commerce or just needs a little refresher course.

As it becomes increasingly associated with impressive corporate gains realized in recent years by companies ranging from FedEx and Rolex to Starbucks and Volvo, "branding" has developed into one of the marketing world's hottest concepts. And for good reason, contend well-known strategist Al Ries and his daughter Laura Ries in The 22 Immutable Laws of Branding: How to Build a Product or Service into a World-Class Brand.
"Marketing is building a brand in the mind of the prospect," they write. "If you can build a powerful brand you will have a powerful marketing program. If you can't, then all the advertising, fancy packaging, sales promotion and public relations in the world won't help you achieve your objective." A no-holds-barred look at a diverse collection of successful--and not-so-successful--branding efforts undertaken by these and other high-profile firms, their book distills the most critical principles involved into a series of clear rules with straightforward titles such as The Law of Expansion, The Law of Contraction, The Law of Consistency, and The Law of Mortality. While some of their suggestions may at first seem counterintuitive, together they compose a logical blueprint for success in today's ever-more-competitive environment. --Howard Rothman
Amazon.com Audiobook Review
When you call a book The 22 Immutable Laws of Branding, you're pretty much ruling out Oprah's Book Club as potential buyers. (Not that Oprah herself isn't a terrific brand.) This is an audiobook for a narrow demographic: entrepreneurs, top managers, and public-relations directors. Coauthor Al Ries comes off like the eccentric genius that most of these managers keep in a basement office, only listening to when necessary. When he says, "The power of a brand is inversely proportional to its scope," and hectors managers with the idea that "customers want brands that are narrow in scope," you know he's right (he backs himself up with dozens of examples), and you know it's the last thing powerful, expansion-minded businesspeople want to hear. Coauthor Laura Ries, his daughter and marketing-firm partner, also reads sections. (Running time: 1.5 hours, one cassette) --Lou Schuler
Book Description
How to build a product or service into a world–class brand.
In today's competitive world, it is no longer enough to have a superior product or even a great advertising campaign. Today's consumers are more savvy than ever, and ample competition has allowed them to become more choosy. The only way to stand out in today's, and tomorrow's 埣luttered marketplace is to build your product or service into a brand. 22 Immutable Laws of Branding is the definitive work on brands and branding. In the tradition of 22 Immutable Laws of Marketing, this book is illustrated with anecdotes from some of the best brands in the world and explains how any product or service can be built into a brand.

Great book.......2007-10-10
Excellent book. Although the 22 laws may not be immutable they definitely are impossible to overlook. This book is packed with practical examples of where major corporations failed and succeeded, by breaking or following each of the 22 laws. Definitely must read if you're interested in creating a strong brand.
What a Book!.......2007-09-22
I never read a book more packed with incredible insights that this one. My company, Astonish Results (www.astonishresults.com) provides consulting to mortgage companies. I will recommend this book to every company we consult.
must have for business owners.......2007-09-11
As a small business owner and someone who was new to the business side of running a business I have found this book an absolute necessity in my daily business life.
Something to think about.......2007-08-11
I read this book with pleasure. It contains a lot of common sense and showed how people are influenced in their choice of branding features by what others have done and not what makes sense. I hope to use much of the information in my firm for our software branding.

Excellent work.......2007-05-26
I must say I have become somewhat of a Ries groupie. Al & Laura Ries along with Jack Trout have created some of the most thought filled pieces within the Branding, Marketing and communications world today. This one lives up the all the hype. The 22 Immutable Laws of Branding is a masterpiece to say the least. I began seeking out new books on the topic and thought why not hear from the gurus of the field. I had read The 22 Immutable Laws of Marketing first and it lead me to this great piece. I am a marketing student not just in the classroom but for life. It is what I do, therefore learning more is what I must do.
Once you began your journey for more knowlege on Branding and relating fields you will side with this book. Branding lives with the perpection that is placed int he mind of the consumer. In all my many marketing classes have I not discussed the many issues that come up in this book. To be a great marketer or branding strategiest you must seek out information from all levels of the field and then rethink those thoughts in regards to your position and situation. This book places you in the right mindset to do that and much more. So begin the process...

Overpriced for what you get.......2007-10-22
This book does have a lot of useful information contained within the pages but it is impossible to sit down and read it. The writing is very bland and I think it would be impossible to read it cover to cover. However I have skimmed through the entire book to get a better understanding of its contents and refer back to it from time to time during projects.
As for the online portal I agree with the other reviewer, it is not worth the price of the book. And I really didn't like that it expires after a year.
If you are even looking at this book, I assume it is required reading for a class. If that is the case, buy it used, even if you don't get the online access, it is not worth the extra money.
The only thing active is the buyer's credit card! Tell your University not to use this book!.......2006-06-29
There is NO review material in this book. All of the review material must be accessed online. An activation code that expires after a year must be used to access any of the online review material.
My new finance books (hardback) cost only $35 more for double the number of pages, smaller print (the print size in Kotler's book looks like a freshman trying to make the minimum page length), and hundreds of exercises.
Marketing 2.0 is not worth anything close to the price. The buyer essentially receives a $115 magazine with an offer to subscribe to the publishers site.

Spam and endless sales pitches.......2007-10-19
Spaming people is not a valuable "Secret" of e-commerce, it will only earn you angry ex-customers and bring ill-fame to your business partners. This book is nothing but Spam and sales pitches for Joe Vitales offerings, and his ill-famed partners products. We do not approve of his methods and we disagree with the proposed scams set forth in this book.
43 ways to SPAM, and ads for Vitales other books........2007-09-29
Save your money. Spaming is self-evident so you don't need this book. And it is mostly just ads for other books and consulting.
nothing but a sales pitch for Vitales other books and services.......2007-09-25
endless sales pitch by Vitale, with some "Here is how to Spam" advice which is not worth the money.
E-book gone paper with numerous gems.......2007-09-06
This is the second book on Internet Marketing that I have read. I am a novice looking and learning about this underground business venture.
The E-code is essentially a collection of topics covered by various experienced marketers. At quick glance, the value of this book does not come forward right away. The overall organization and variation in writing style makes for a choppy reading experience. However, there are many tips throughout that make this book worthwhile. The book it self is any example of how things come together in the electronic world.
The E-code might be better read in moderation instead of full steam ahead- straight-through. I tend to read books cover to cover, marking pages and making notes along the way with sticky tabs. I then go back and review all the gems and great tips that I feel are key. This book, I did not tab and mark up like crazy, but the areas that I did mark are key areas of Internet marketing that I did not know before. There are some key chapters that I founds very helpful in understanding how internet marketing systems are deployed, tactics and methods used.
If you are looking for a step by step guide, this is not the book. However, there is a few chapters that come close to this. The E-code covers a lot about marketing in general and how it applies to the internet. There is certain set of rules that should be followed to insure a lasting presence and trust. This book does a great job in this regard and provides many insightful tips along the way.
One Important thing to note about this business is that it is not fast money answer. It really is about building something up overtime. The big money can come, but overnight success is rare. If you are serious about working on your own online business and willing to put the time in to get it going, Books like this one, The E-code will prove helpful.
Other books and constant learning are required to keep up with what is current. This book is for the new comer.
waste of time and money.......2007-08-13
this is a waste of time and money. Just telling people to SPAM, and some how-to-spam tips is not worth wading thru the extended sales pitches for Vitale's other products.

Very Good book.......2007-10-15
The AdSense Code: What Google Never Told You About Making Money with AdSense
I have bought and read this book and found it to be a very good book to give you an over view of how to maximize you AdSense exposure to increase revenue . This book, also, explains how Google search engine works, which I've found it even more interesting. I have added Google AdSense, search option, and referrals, to my web site to give it a business look, you can see it at
http://www.DoLittle-Strategies.com
to give you a good visual image.
Easy Read and Has Informative Content.......2007-10-12
I enjoyed this book and definitely learned things I did not know about optimizing page layouts and ad styles on web pages. The author also provides a lot of links and information about tools that can be used to manage and monitor your adSense account. The only slightly negative thing to say is the author spends quite a bit of time advertising his own products, but hey we live in a capitalist system. This book was worth the money.
Not a bad book on Adsense.......2007-10-12
I read Joels other books on Adsense as well and
this one goes into some more in depth detail on
certain aspects of Adsense. I recommend it and give
it four stars.

This book was not what I expected........2007-06-27
I am giving this book 2 stars because I thought it would be great, like Seth Godin or the Wizard of Ads books. I expected a book of "Secret Formulas" as the title says. Instead it felt like a well-written Website 101 book, 90% common sense plus a few good tips sprinkled in. No "oh wow" moments here. Big disappointment. Honestly, I kept reading page after page waiting for the meat, but it was just 2 pieces of bread.
simple & useful.......2007-01-13
I've just started to read this book, but only the first pages let me know I can learn lots of simple things that can improve my business.
It's very easy to understand, good explanations, and very simple but big ideas to work on.
Buy it! (...i promise you i'm not the author and not his mother..)Believe me.
Call to Action: Secret Formulas to Improve Online Results.......2007-01-10
This book is easy to read and has a wealth of good information on creating an e-commerce site that will sell products.
A new must-have reference for online persuasive marketing........2006-11-18
In a world full of books that promise to show you the way to that elusive, successful conversion metric this one delivers. It not only explains the fundamentals but gives you some real-world insight and know-how. It is well written and an easy read. I've marked this book up with more highlighter than in a college text book. Definitely worth every penny.
Very well written book, a "bible" for internet business owners.......2006-07-25
This book is for every decision maker of an Internet business that sells products or services online or offline.
It explains in very clear and non-technical fashion what to look out for when designing web pages and get visitors to do what you want them to do ... and things you should not do as well, something often forgotten when it comes to the question "How to improve the conversion of visitors to customers?"
You can trust the two of the foremost experts about this topic, Bryan and Jeffrey Eisenberg. The know and can prove it with tons of customers they helped to improve conversion via their professional service company with the name "Future Now".
You should also check their other books and the free goodies they offer on their Website. A fountain of knowledge.
Book Description
When it comes to advertising on the web, you just can't argue with the numbers. A $7 billion market today is expected to grow to $18.9 billion by 2010. Jupiter Research also estimates that search advertising will be a larger share of the market than display advertising by 2010. These phenomenal numbers are due largely to Google, which has changed the way the world publishes content - and advertises.
Google Advertising Tools from O'Reilly examines the business and technology behind making money with content and advertising on the web. This focused, easy-to-read guide shows you how to use Google's advertising services to make it happen. You'll find all the background information you need to work with Google AdSense, which automatically delivers text and image ads that are precisely targeted to your site, and Google AdWords, which lets you generate text ads that accompany specific search term results.
This book has specific and detailed sections on:
- Turning your web site into a profit center with AdSense
- Making sense of AdSense metrics
- Driving traffic to your site
- Optimizing sites for search engine placement
- Working with AdWords campaigns, auctions, and reports
- Managing campaigns dynamically using the AdWords APIs
Once you've read all four parts, you'll have a comprehensive picture of how advertising works on the web and how you can use the Google advertising programs to your advantage.
Customer Reviews:
Great resouce book.......2007-10-19
Like most of the O'Reilly books, this is very well written and a really good resource for tips and hints. It is not as good for a beginner, but is good for people that need a good resource to go to the next level.
Google Advertising Tools: Cashing in with AdSense, AdWords, and the Google APIs.......2007-07-15
It is estimated that Google ads reach 80% of all Internet users. No other advertising system or promotional scheme (including spam campaigns) can boast such coverage. Cashing in on Google ads either as an advertiser through AdWords or by getting paid by the click for hosting Google ads through Adsense is a pretty quick and simple process.
Google Advertising Tools is meant for the beginner advertiser or new website owner who would like to make a little extra money through hosting Google ads. This book takes the reader through the whats, the whys, the hows, and the wheres of these options. Much of the more complicated parts of these processes are even detailed step by step complete with illustrations of what the reader will see at the website. I do suggest this book to those new to Google ads. However, I also think that those already participating in these programs with find a few helpful hints and tips, particularly in the optimizing sections.
Just OK.......2007-01-10
This book was OK, I mean it has some good information but you can find most of it online so it is more of a resource book instead of a book having especially valuable information.
Im glad I bought it cause I now have a resource book on the shelf and dont have to search online and I often have limited time.
If you have the time to research online then do that, otherwise by this book.
a book to begin.......2007-01-07

Useful Information.......2006-12-05
While I found the book useful and inspiring, the author did bounce all over the place and made some strange comments. He even devoted an entire chapter to marketing adult sites, which I thought was a bit strange. Davis wrote at all levels conceptually, theoretically and tactically - which is good. Overall, it's a useful book with good information.

Best source to get a handle on the SEO mystery........2007-04-06
This video explains not only SEO processes and sources, but also how to go about the thought processes and the also the correct way (white hat) to go about performing SEO services for your site and your customers if you are in the business. I thoroughly enjoyed Richards cavalier and no nonces approach in this video. If you want a quick jump start into the SEO world, I recommend this video.
SEO simplified.......2007-03-30
I have gone through a few other tutorials and the only thing they had in common was that they were BORING. This is not the case with Richard Jenkins' SEO videos. He is able to present vital information in a way that is very easy to understand and his scense of humor makes the video series very enjoyable to watch. I would recommend this tutorial series to anyone who wants to understand search engine optimization.
What I didn't know was hurting my online presence.......2006-12-19
I discovered search engine optimization after having a website up for 3 yeaars that never seemed to generate any business. In fact, I couldn't get my company name to come up when I searched for it myself. In doing some marketing research I discovered this process called search engine optimization (SEO) and what you didn't know about it could hurt you. And it was. I then discovered John's SEO CD that taught everything I needed to know in a way that I could easily comprehend. He teaches using lots of live examples so you know exactly what he's talking about. John is an excellent teacher and reveals valuable resources in his tutorial. Step by step he tells you what you need to do and why you need to do it. What he teaches not only improves one's website, but marketing in general. I highly recommend John's CD and urge everyone to learn about SEO. [...]
Groovy resource present energetically........2006-11-19
Before starting this title, I had no idea what "SEO" was, and I certainly wasn't really very enthusiastic about it simply because it sounded like it might be rather dry and humourless. I had, however, always recognised the intrinsic value in getting search engine rankings right and so I thought I'd just have to slog through it and try to stay awake, especially because I was really dying to get into other books I'd also bought on much 'cooler' stuff like Flash and Photoshop.
I can now say though that SEO is, apart from being super-important, really interesting and cool. Thanks to Richard John Jenkins' excellent skills, wide-ranging knowledge and enthusiastic presentation I now feel really geared up and well-prepared to go and improve my own site's rankings. How many times throughout his illuminating explanations did I say 'Doh!' out loud (ala Homer Simpson) as I realised I had committed many of the classic SEO errors mentioned. Well, Richard really hats you up and shows you, with real hands-on examples, just how to set your SEO straight and improve those all-important search engine rankings by demonstrating a miriad of tools, most of which are available free on the Internet, to optimise your site's searchability,...or perhaps 'rankability' or indexability' would be more appropriate.
I know that I'll be redesigning my site, which it probably needed for other reasons anyway, and I'll definitely be gearing it toward being much more search engine friendly. I can highly recommend this book.
