Customer Reviews:
Not the best book, but not the worst either........2007-07-23
This is only an okay book. Certainly not one that I refer to as I work on my training. The information is kind of basic, and there is an overtone of mass marketing to it. Hard to put your finger on exactly, but it's kind of fluffy. Some of the exercises are bizarre, like doing squats with no weight and holding onto a post (not to be confused with a sissy squat), calf raises with no weight, etc. Remember, this is supposed to be for intermediate lifters. People reading this book could end up wasting a lot of time in trial and error. The point of buying books is to avoid that. I would recommend Natural Bodybuilding by John Hansen for an experienced beginner instead of this book. He is a lot more to the point, and he has real advice to offer.
There is one element that really just makes me want to laugh...the female model they use to show about half the exercises. Imagine, if you will, a very tall, very, very skinny woman with HUGE fake breasts barely contained in a tiny, string sport bra trying to demonstrate weightlifting. She is also grinning and wide-eyed throughout, and has long hair that is not tied up. This looks so ridiculous...how can anyone take this seriously?? Were all the fitness and figure girls tied up that day, and they just could not find a single one for the photo shoot???
Newsflash-- If you work out half naked, with your hair all over the place, and lift weights that are so light that you never lose the smile from your face, you aren't going to accomplish anything. Women have to work very hard just like men to make gains.
Dr. Wolff will not let you down!.......2004-03-12
Read my other reviews of Dr. Wolff's books because I have read several of his books and I am proud to have them in my collection. Truthfully, they are all I need since they cover everything you need to know!
Bodybuilding 201 is meant to build on your current experience and results to take it further or get past your sticking points.
My advice for the new or experienced - start with BodyBuilding 101, then read his Book of Great Workouts, to get your base of knowledge. Then read this book while you are hitting the gym and getting amazing results.
Remeber, amazing results come slowly, over time. You cannot see that 1/4 inch of growth but it is there. Little by little it all adds up and before you know it, your a completely changed person!
Dr. Wolff teaches you how.
All of Dr. Wolff's books teach you technique, proper diet, and truly give you a solid education in all areas of working out - supplements, exercises, routines, fact and fiction.
My game plan for you- buy the 3 books I mentioned(and any others Dr. Wolff has written!!), read them in the order I described and start working out once your done. While your building your body over the next 6 months to a year, spend the time wisely by reading his other books and crafting your gameplan further. Don't rush into it. Just build your base slowly and after the proper amount of time has passed, try the next level of techniques.
Robert Wolff gives you proven and time tested material, coupled with his own personal experience. He goes over proper diet, proper technique and methodology to get you started off on the right foot. All of us are different and what works in the magazine interviews of the Pro bodybuilders probably will not work for you.
Did I mention that the author really will answer your e-mail questions!! Yes, I have had actually direct communication with him. He answered my questions and was more than happy to help!!!
Forget Atkins, South Beach, and all the other hype out there. Read and learn from Dr. Wolff.
Great Book!.......2004-02-23
Excellent practical information. Not the normal 'cookie-cutter' info on training. Cutting edge info. Would recommend for advanced and beginners alike. Workable for the natural athlete.
A must have for everyone who wants a better body!.......2003-12-29
This book is a must have! I am a personal trainer and fitness director and I found this to be one of the best books that I have read. If you want a book that covers a little of everthing, then this book is well worth the money. Robert Wolff is one of the best authors that I have found. This book has helped me with my fitness, so let this book help you reach your fitness goals!
A must have!!! This book has EVERYTHING!!!.......2003-12-27
Robert Wolff has done it again!!! This time, his new book teaches advanced and experienced bodybuilders how to get the winning edge without drugs, this is the most complete bodybuilding book I've ever read!!! My advise to every1 lookin 2 build a better body is to get Bodybuilding 101 and for those looking to build a championship physique to get both bodybuilding 101 and bodybuilding 201!!! This is a book that I'm sure will eventually be passed on from generation to generation...
BOTTOM LINE: BUY THIS BOOK!!!
Book Description
Effective teams are increasingly recognized as crucial to business success, but few people really understand how to build a team that taps and blends the skills of each member for a winning whole. In clear, simple language, Go Team! shows how to create that powerhouse team. The book begins by defining what constitutes a great team, using examples from real life. It details elements critical to using conflict effectively, making and implementing decisions, sharing leadership among members, and being accountable for results. The authors also explore the three stages of a change process to achieve greatness - sowing seeds for change, dealing with discouragement, and preparing for takeoff - as well as the three keys to empowerment to move the team through these stages: sharing information, creating autonomy through boundaries, and replacing the hierarchy with teams. This proven plan enhances creativity, satisfaction, and a sense of pride, ensuring outstanding results.
Customer Reviews:
Lacks details and takes a long time to basically explain why to delegate.......2005-11-21
The overall message of the book - delegate decision making authority down into your team but provide them with overall direction - is a great message I totally agree with. However, the way in which it was presented left it somewhat unactionable as most of the content focuses on desired results and expected emotional responses rather than on details of how to make an effective transition to this organizational style. The book is strewn with examples from companies that have "made the change" and talks about how they improved profitability, morale, and retention. Those stories unfortunately focus on the results and not on what specific changes were made or how those changes were rolled out into the teams. This book felt more like a sales pitch for his consulting company than a book on how to lead this sort of change yourself.
Book Description
Why do some leaders get and accomplish what they want as a matter of routine, while others seem to regularly experience frustration and setbacks? Why do some leaders achieve their goals and reach new heights, while others barely "hang in there" and survive? Based on his groundbreaking psychological study of the ways that successful individuals think and behave, Dr. Henry Cloud presents a simple yet profound roadmap to help leaders-and those who want to become leaders-arrive at greater levels of personal growth and corporate influence than they previously thought were possible. The good news for all of us is that leadership success is not limited to vague notions of "charisma" nor traditional advantages like graduate degrees and connections, but much more to a pattern of thinking and moving forward that learns from mistakes and stays focused on goals.

Praise for EMAIL MARKETING by the NUM8ERS
"At last-a book that marketers can use to gain real respect from CFOs and CEOs who care about the bottom line. Baggott, author of the award-winning blog 'Email Marketing Best Practices,' clearly explains how to make your campaigns perform measurably better. The secret's in your test results."
—Anne Holland, President, MarketingSherpa
"Despite its proven power, email marketing receives a fraction of the attention given to other, fancier media. This week you'll probably hear far more about mobile videocasting (or some such fashion) than you will about email marketing. You can help correct this imbalance by reading this book."
—Rory Sutherland, Vice Chairman, Ogilvy Group, London, UK
"Baggott's wonderful new direct marketing book is loaded with practical advice and recommendations from some of the best minds in the industry. Email Marketing by the Numbers should be read by everyone in the industry who wants to profit from acquiring and retaining customers."
—Arthur Middleton Hughes, Vice President/Solutions Architect, Knowledge Base Marketing, and author of Strategic Database Marketing
"Amidst the confusion and changing landscape of the Web, Baggott is one of the clear thinkers who can cut through the hype and help you understand how to drive revenues through the use of marketing technology."
—Scott Burkey, Business Development Executive, Definition 6
"Baggott is the ultimate Web 2.0 entrepreneur who takes Email 2.0 to a new level. In Email Marketing by the Numbers, he gives marketers instructions for creating one-to-one conversations with prospects and customers. This book should be on the desk of every marketer in every company, big or small."
—Scott Maxwell, founder, OpenView Venture Partners
Customer Reviews:
Do you like pizza?.......2007-10-17
If you own a pizza parlor and want a collection of somewhat vague email marketing hints, GET THIS BOOK. Otherwise, stay away. It definitely has some good thoughts about what to do and not do in email marketing, but it is entirely devoid of the details that create actionable plans. The "By the Numbers" part of the title is very misleading. The reader is led expect detail and gets none.
I repeat: Do not buy this book thinking it has what you need to know to start an email marketing effort. It has close to zero value for a business-to-business marketing plan.
Stating the obvious.......2007-06-02
I am disappointed with the book. The main problem is it does not tell you anything you already don't know or think for yourself. There are no "numbers" or metrics in the book beyond click through rate and unsubscriber rate. This should not be a book but rather a blog entry or an article in my opinion.
I believe you should stick with the good old Permission Marketing and Seth Godin not to waste time & money. Permission Marketing : Turning Strangers Into Friends And Friends Into Customers
Great Basic Email Marketing Book.......2007-05-04
This book is really current to the ins and outs of email marketing going on right now. Chris is really tuned into the happenings of online email marketing. While the integration & automated campaign chapters are kind of week, the lessons, explanations, and practical methods are spot on. His deliverability chapter, and email content tips are priceless.
This book will show you how to be more effective.......2007-05-02
I have done email marketing for a long time, but this book really goes through the broad range of issues around being more effective with email marketing. I learned a lot and have made it a must read for our staff that is involved in marketing as well.
The key is to understand the bigger picture. Anyone can assemble a list of emails and blast out an HTML email message to them. But can they build a complete strategy around creating stronger relationships and taking advantage of opportunities most companies miss? If you read this book, you will be able to do just that.
Email is still the best tool out there.......2007-04-28
I've always been a fan of email marketing -- when it's done well, it's the most powerful tool to build quality relationships with your customers. Chris knows the email trade, and does an amazing job telling the story. A book definitely worth reading!

Want to go to the next level?.......2002-01-20
This book is really worth reading. I can learn a lot from it. It is about how Dale leads his company to success from nearly bankruptcy, which inspire me a lot. Dale's company is compelled to make a decision to adopt the Statistic Process Control program. If he refuses, his company will go bankrupt. After struggling for many times, he eventually adopts using SPC, making the performance of his company improved.
This book talks about "quality" not only in his work but also in his life. The environment changes constantly and we cannot avoid facing uncertainty. Very often, we are forced to make changes, like Dale. In the changing world, we should not stick to the past. We should be ready to try new ways of doing things.
Continuously improving ourselves is another insight that I learn. After fulfilling one goal, we should set another goal. Just like Dale, after he teaches his employees about SPC and meets the requirements for SPC certification, he then introduces TQM to the company to make it further successful.
There are no losers and winners, said by Dale. I strongly agree. After spending our efforts, if we cannot get any achievements or prizes, it does not mean that we are losers. The outcome is not the most important. The importance is the process, that is, your involvement.
Dale also says that there is no master and servants in the company. I think that if employers and employees are friends, the employees are much more willing to spend more efforts on their work voluntarily and they will work more happily, which in turn will increase the productivity.
To conclude, this book is useful to us. It brings out a very important message: to be successful, we should seize on every opportunity to improve ourselves. We should not stop at the existing level. Remember: "Take it to the next level!"
Please take this book to the next level........2001-06-19
If quality is the issue, this book seems to be missing it. Before I read this book, I knew that Crownover's company had won the Baldridge award, and I had read other articles on some of the programs they adapted to do so. I largely expected this book to explain how they adapted quality principles in a small company to win that award. What I received was a somewhat brief, shallow treatment of the history of the company and the current president, and personal insights that seem rather topical. As compared to other business books I have read, or even compared to other "Personal journey" stories I have read, this book comes up short in the "useful material" department.
Inspiration at its best!.......1999-08-14
The inspiring true story of how a company rose from the doldrums of near bankruptcy to a level worthy of the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award. This is extremely readable; don't expect a bunch of management mumbo-jumbo. This should be a textbook in every business school in the world. I had the privilege of attending the party celebrating this book's publication. Dale is a down-to-earth man of character who is enjoying richly-deserved personal and professional success.

Book Description
As a young man Jesus grew in favor. Noah, Joseph, Moses, Ruth, David . . . all found the favor of God. What does God's favor mean and why is it so important? Pastor Duane Vander Klok explores this unique realm of God's poured-out goodness, revealing how to turn negative situations around, increase faith for moving mountains, bless others, and more. Readers will discover that favor, while not automatic, is freely given. Some cautions must be taken, but the prayerful desire to ''unblock'' God's gifting will lead to dramatic changes. This book is for anyone who has been missing the sweet taste of God's favor--for the time is ripe to reap it in abundance.
Customer Reviews:
An interesting and thoughtful book for Christian readers.......2006-07-10
Most Christians are familiar with the Bible verse, "And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men." Luke 2:52. How many though take time to ponder this verse long enough to consider that, as Christ is a believer's example in all things, His followers are to be "favor" seekers as well? Author Duane Vander Klok writes that favor can be defined as "the friendly disposition from which kindly acts proceed; to assist; to provide with special advantages; to receive preferential treatment." Who wouldn't appreciate a favorable response as opposed to an unfavorable one?
In his text, Vander Klok lays a foundation for Christians to better understand why God desires to bestow favor on His children and provides the biblical "how-tos" for achieving this advantageous position. He explains that favor does not simply land in a person's lap; rather, every Christian must actively pursue it. Likening favor to an untapped electrical system, believers need to release the power already present. The basics to experiencing a life of favor include adopting a mindset that expects/believes/confesses it. In other words, God desires to give favor to His children personally, but He in turn expects believers to confess it by faith and proactively set the process in motion.
Citing such promises as found in Psalm 103, Vander Klok proposes that God is eager to fulfill such wondrous pledges as offering: forgiveness, healing, redemption, providing goodness and mercy, meeting needs for physical health, meting out justice and freedom from oppression, and even extending salvation to one's children's children. One key point is that there is a significant difference between believing "in" and believing "for" favor. While most Christians believe in the concept, they fail to apply it to their own lives.
Vander Klok warns readers that gaining favor is not found by following a formula. Rather, there are five basic habits to hone and practice on a daily basis that afford Christians a robust and vibrant relationship with God. Vander Klok says that Bible reading tops his list, along with daily prayer, a study hour, physical exercise and maintaining an intimate family circle. On the flip side, he notes that there are also favor-hindering habits to be avoided. These cautionary notes include: a carnal mind not focused on the things of the Spirit, a careless thought life, and an unbelieving heart that speaks defeated, negative words. He also expounds upon the stories found in Scripture that discuss biblical characters who found favor with those in authority over them, such as Joseph, Ruth and Esther.
A particularly interesting section is Vander Klok's warnings about falling from favor by allowing bitterness to take root in the heart, becoming prideful or envious, and believing that once favored equals a trouble-free existence. Instead, Vander Klok challenges Christians to see favor as an opportunity to "favor" and bless others in increasing measure and as an extension of God's love and mercy

A good next step after the Beginners Book........2007-03-19
A little more than a year ago I went through the predecessor to this book: "The Everything Easy Crosswords Book: Challenging Fun for Beginners". I had never done crossword puzzles before and that book got me hooked. It seemed natural to pick up this second book. I found that it was a good next step.
Since I am still a relatively new puzzle solver I wanted to pass along some things that frustrated me about working on the puzzles in this second book. I wanted to pass along my experiences so others would not quit doing crossword puzzles if they went through the same frustrations.
I worked through about two thirds of this book before running into problems. Two things frustrated me:
1. Clues and answers that I did not like very much, and...
2. Clues with answers that I had to research.
I also found that there were puzzle authors in the book whose puzzles I consistently did not enjoy working on. There were also authors whose puzzles I enjoyed more than others.
As I worked through this book I talked with some of my friends who regularly worked on crossword puzzles. They told me that they also ran into clues and answers that they didn't agreed with. And, they also had to research or look up the answer to clues sometimes. They also said that they also ran into puzzle authors that they liked and others that they didn't like. We compared it to book authors: Some you like and some you don't.
At about the same time that I was getting frustrated at certain clues and answers, and certain puzzle authors I saw the movie "Word Play" with Will Shortz, editor of the New York Times crossword puzzle on DVD. If you like crossword puzzles at all, then I highly recommend this movie. You might not think that a movie can be based on crossword puzzles, but...well, just get this movie. I don't want to give anything away. (Be sure to watch the deleted scenes and extra features, too.)
This movie also helped me with my frustrations with puzzle clues and answers. The movie interviewed a person who was a top-level competitor in the American Crossword Puzzle Tournament. There was one scene where he was working on a puzzle and had to look up an answer. Even after consulting a reference book, he was still frustrated by the clue and answer. He didn't agree with it. This made me feel better about being frustrated.
After going through this book (I have about ten pages to finish) I learned to work a little bit harder on authors whose puzzles I did not enjoy very much. I found that, with a little bit of patience, I was able to get through their puzzles and enjoy them. I had to adjust my thinking processes.
There are still clues that I have to research (like Iranian currency and the inventions of Georges Claude) but I actually enjoy looking these things up on the Internet now. It might mean that a puzzle takes a little bit longer, but I also learn a thing or two along the way.
I do recommend this book to people who have worked through the first book. I also want to tell people who are new to crossword puzzles that you will run into problems and will probably be frustrated at times. Just keep working on them and enjoy them.
