Book Description
"Fear is the signal, the alpha point, while mastery is the omega or end point. Fear tells us where we need to look. It can uncover what we truly desire. Then it becomes a call to action and that is a spiritual gift. The very thing you're afraid of is the key to the next step of your growth."--Raphaela Love
Luscious dreams of love plague Janna, a dedicated therapist who gives all to her clients and little to herself. Only when a husky male client begins following her, does she seek out help--in the form of the mysterious and magical Raphaela Love.
Raphaela teaches Janna seven life-altering lessons. As Janna takes on the first lesson, Fear Lights the Way to Mastery, she faces the stalker, confronts her incestuous uncle and midwifes the death of a loved one. These courageous steps are part of a momentous journey out of her ordinary, constricted reality and into Raphaela's world of unlimited possibilities.
"An extraordinary self-help book that reads like a romantic adventure."
--Jana Nestlerode, Chair, Department of Criminal Justice, West Chester University

This book CHANGED me! : ).......2007-09-18
I was BLOWN AWAY by this book! I felt CHANGED after reading it.
I was in the process of having an internal shift concerning relationships, and this book came at just the right time, and I feel it has guided me in just the right direction. I truly believe this book is the help I need to create a loving relationship in my life! I began "dog earing" the important pages and by the time I was done nearly EVERY OTHER PAGE was "dog eared" and underlined! I look forward to reading it again and working on applying what I've learned to my life. THANK YOU to Dr. Diana for her brilliant work and insight! I have suggested it to so many of my friends, and had copies mailed to several of them!
The Book That Keeps Its Promise.......2007-08-06
"Opening Love's Door: The Seven Lessons" by Diana Kirschner does exactly that: It opens the door to finding true love. I had been caught in "deadly dating" patterns for quite a while until this book fell into my hands. An honest and heartfelt story which takes the reader through the Ups and Downs and the Do's and Dont's of life and love.
Through this book I was able to come to a higher level of self love and love to a man. Inspiring, true, and definately worth reading for anyone who wants to truly create a gorgeous (love) life.
Inspiring Book.......2007-07-16
Wonderful book. It was both useful ( seven lessons) and inspiring. I have personally met Dr. Diana and think this book as well as her workshops are very worthwhile for anyone trying to "create love" in their life. She is a loving, inspirational and a beautiful person.
An Inspiring Story that Teaches Powerful Lessons.......2007-07-03
This is a unique guide to finding the love you want!! Unlike other self-help books, Dr. Kirschner shares her expertise with us through an engaging narrative with characters who are familiar & inspiring to us at the same time. After reading this I thought, "If she (the main character) can find her way to real love I can do it, too!"
Best Self Help Book.......2007-06-17
In all other areas of your life it is easy to know the next steps...looking for a job, an apartment, etc. But dating had no manual, until now. This book says it all.

Extremely Useful Details and Format.......2007-02-11
Graphic Standards should quickly produce more titles in this series. The details are clearly drawn and extremely useful in this format. You get full-color photo examples and comprehensive technical data attached to each system (inlcuding plans, 3D diagrams, etc). A fair comparison would be with the German publication 'Details' which is published monthly (and in larger volumes as well); except this may be somewhat more relevant to architects in the U.S. because virtually all of the projects are in imperial units and in the States. A worthwhile addition to your library.
What a rip!.......2007-01-06
This book is too small to be a coffee table book and the details too minimal to be of practical use. It looks like a 1/2 scale mock up of publication run. I kept looking for a missing disk or something that would make it usable. Is this a joke? Is there something missing from my order? I'm used to purchasing fairly expensive technical books but I found this book upsetting enough to take the time to write a review. The photos are nice but the quality of presentation and the depth of information does not justify the $47.00 price. It's really worth about $20.00. I should have done more homework on this book before spending the money.
not great.......2006-07-29
The book is small and the details very much smaller. I bought the book to help me detail a modern house addition and am extremely dissapointed. There are many pretty photos and the drawings associated with them are presentation drawings, not construction drawings. The book is of of little use to the architect and even less use to the layperson.
Nice of technical details and gorgeous pictures.......2006-04-28
Plenty of very interesting ideas for splendid buildings. drawings are well done and very useful.
However, I would have liked more of them especially about weather stripping since it is where opening usually fail.
Last, a larger format would have been very much appreciated.
At any rate, worth buying.
ARTful Openings.......2005-07-14
A great book! And not only for professionals, but also for lay people interested in architecture, or young people considering careers in the field. Beautifully put together with gorgeous photographs, this book can take its place among art books. I hope Ms. Talarico decides to write other books of this kind focusing on different parts of buildings, e.g. windows, balconies, roofs or staircases.
Thank you, Ms. Talarico!

Simply magic!.......2000-12-20
This book found its way to my hands in 1992. It is astounding...and simply magic! Countless times I would read the message for the day and it provided the perfect guidance for things that were happening in my life. It's a great book and a great gift. Plus if you travel a lot it does not take up much space at all and can be a constant companion. Thank you, dear Eileen Caddy, for such a jewel!
Every one should own a copy of this book.......2000-09-02
This is a book that every one should have and use on a regular basis. I think that if this were the case there would be more happines and tolerance in the world. I have recomended this book to a number of people and each of them has sent me a message saying thank you and that the book was helping them in many ways.
Excellent daily meditation book........1999-03-15
This book has been by my side for over 5 years, traveled half way around the world, and never ceases to amaze me with how timely it is. I've made tiny notes in the margins and can track my progress in life. It is a very life-affirming and self-validating book.
Contact diairy with the our Creator - a page read per day........1998-09-25
To have in hands this small book, after reading some sentences, makes us to thank deeply in our heart. They are small spiritual jewels driven to our heart. The larger merit of Eileen Caddy's work is to give truthfulness to God speaking and supplying us with His immense Love. I recommend the whole ones!

Teaching Poetry in MS.......2007-07-21
Just ordered this book over the summer, and plan to use it with my 7th grade students this school year. I like the focus on exploring meaning in poetry, not actually having students write poems (though that could easily be amended to these lessons). There is a nice variety of work here, from Gary Soto to Edgar Allen Poe. I think this book will help teachers read and discuss poetry with middle school students. The resources in the back of the book, including online sites and lists of anthologies, are especially helpful.
poetic simplicity.......2007-01-20
An interesting selection of poems each accompanied by a lesson. Lessons easily expanded upon and adapted for various ability levels. I especially appreciate the variety of poems and the fact that they are not typical.

More people have used the Internet to participate in an online group than to read news or even to buy something. Filled with clear, real-life examples, The Virtual Handshake shows you how to: * sign new customers, meet new business partners, and find your dream job * create a powerful professional presence online * attract business in online networks * meet more relevant senior people * start and promote your own blog * master the email deluge * analyze and value your social network * use web conferencing and discussion forums to build strong relationships * manage your contact database * ensure privacy and safety online The Virtual Handshake is the first book ever written about how to become extraordinarily successful by using these new online tools. Be yourself, act responsibly, and remember you are the same person both online and offline.......2007-03-18
The world is changing and so is business. The Internet, and various "Web 2.0" technologies, for lack of a better (or even good) name, are rapidly becoming an integral part of business and life.
The Virtual Handshake doesn't attempt to get you entirely up to date -- that's impossible, but up to speed -- that's far more valuable.
If you don't have any trusted colleagues you've never met in person or maybe not even talked to over the phone, you need this book. Even if you've spent a quarter of a century online like I have, you need this book. I learned a lot, and still refer to this book often. (If your secretary reads your email to you and you dictate answers, I suggest you retire or read this book ASAP.- You need help catching up).
After reading The Virtual Handshake, and I strongly suggest you do, you'll understand the basics, importance, and success guidelines of social software. You'll be up to speed in perhaps the most critical area of business change in our lifetime. The CURRENT wave of the Internet, and probably more important than the original commercialization and popularization of the Internet.
Hey, what's more interesting, the Big Bang Theory or How Life Came About?? This is the "How Life Came About" part and you'll learn about things like virtual communities and social networking, but far more importantly,- you'll know what to do. Actual steps you should take --- and plenty of case studies to help you understand their importance. Guidelines to harness the power of these new whateveryoucallthem.
Hint: be yourself, act responsibly, and remember you are the same person both online and offline and don't forget it!
There is a lot of valuable information in this book. Plan to read it, enjoy it, and then study it. And plan on concrete benefits.
No Value Added.......2006-12-15
It's a rehash of common sense. Do not waste your time reading this book.
A must for recruiters.......2006-08-25
This inspiring book is a must for all recruiters who understand the leverage power of online sourcing and networking.
Primer for virtual networking.......2006-08-19
As its subtitle suggests, The Virtual Handshake is all about interfacing with business and social contacts through the worldwide web. In my field (recruiting), the lines between business and social contacts blur since everyone I encounter might need either a new job or project, might know someone who does, or might be in a position to hire. Networking is not just about pressing flesh and passing business cards at a luncheon these days. There is a rapidly growing area of opportunity to meet people and make deals on the internet. However, please note that The Virtual Handshake does not merely expound the virtues of the internet or report results of deals closed and marriages made, the authors also make the technologies easy to understand and provide practical advice on how to use what's out there. Published in 2005, the book provides current information on various virtual options and their uses. The authors cover topic such as social software and services online; virtual clubs and associations; tips on managing the deluge of email; basics on blogging; effective use of email blasts without being perceived as a spammer; netiquette; privacy protection; and, of course, real-life examples of the use of the virtual medium. Easy to read and very useful, The Virtual Handshake is a primer for those of us who haven't been hip to the virtual world that's out there. It made me wonder if I've been living under a rock! The good news is it's not too late to learn, and this book will definitely help. I was so inspired by this book that I boldly went out there into the virtual world and set up my own blogsite!
Virtual Handshake-.......2006-07-04
This book delivers everything it promises. It is interesting from beginning to end and is obviously written by someone who is inspiring, articulate and experienced. It gives really good advice abot how to handle and manage one's growing familiarity with Internet capabilities and offers several good references for aspiring networkers. It even explains how to write a good resume.

Customer Reviews:
Excellent book.......2003-10-21
I have read several books by the Friels, all of which have been good or great. This book is especially good because it shows how our refusal to move into adulthood plays out in our lives. I had a lot of great insights into my life on account of this book. Perhaps one of the best things is seeing that my refusing to grow up has really kept me from experiencing a lot of joy in life.
It is especially pertinent in light of the youth worship that characterizes modern american culture. When seen through the Friels' insightful book, the origin much of our angst can be traced to the loss of the value of adulthood. This book isn't about social change, but it isn't hard to extrapolate the experience of the individual and see the culture.
This book is very straight-forward and clearly written. It can be read in a day and is well worth it.
Excellent Book.......2000-09-09
I highly recommend this book for all who want to gain understanding about life and what it means to "grow up". Just because our bodies get big, doesn't mean we become adults. Learning what it means to live as an adult, make wise choices for healthy living and gain a deeper connection with our soul, is what this book is all about. As a counselor, this book has been very helpful to many of my clients.

Great for the basics, skip if you are skilled.......2003-09-15
I do not think any of these techniques work just for women, so men, go grab it and read on....
I think for anyone just starting out in sales, whether on the phone or in the field, these techniques will give you the basics to get started. It is also a good idea to go back and read any good sales book as a refresher or a motivator.
Wendy does focus on selling from step one (prospecting, how and where to find your client base) to closing the sale and everything in between. What do I say, how do I say it, what do I do if I fumble... She gives many great real life examples to which we can all relate. Highly recommended for those new in the sales field. But remember for those of us that have been around the block a few times, it's not new information, just a reminder that what we were trained to do years ago still applies.
A waste of time and money.......2003-09-10
I found absolutely no value whatsoever in this book. It's another "take a deep breath and dial the phone" books that lacks any specific advice to work with. A complete disappointment.
She's Got the Process Down Cold!.......2003-02-16
Cold Calling for Women is one of the most helpful books I've ever read. It starts well before the tactics of picking up the phone to include the important strategies of identifying your market, targeting the right prospects, and positioning your product or service for maximum appeal.
That said, it is also extremely specific in terms of tips and techniques for handling each stage of the cold calling process - something I was formerly terrified of. By the time I finished this book, I thought "Hey - I can do this!" Let me tell you - that's saying a lot!
The book is also wonderfully readable and blessedly concise. Wendy Weiss' energetic writing style makes it a fast read, and the exercises she includes motivate you to take action NOW. I read it cover to cover in one sitting - including all the exercises and note-taking - and by the time I was done, I was ready to pick up the phone and get started!
Cold Calling and more.......2002-12-27
Wendy Weiss has done a fabulos job of delivering what was once stale information and making it interesting. Cold calling is one of those daily "chores" for people in business. Ms. Weiss' has clearly detailed helpful "Tips", the best "Do's" and the "Don't" you want to truly avoid. I enjoyed her style and found it an easy read. Its one of those books I keep on my desk for ideas and reference.
Very helpful indeed........2001-08-09
There are several glowing testimonials contained in this book; believe them all. The comparison of cold calling to a performance is as effective an analogy as you'll find. This, and the many techniques recommended therein, are reinforced throughout with exercises that construct a winning strategy for successful cold calling. Even seasoned veterans will find new approaches that work. Do not view the title as a deterrent; anyone who has to cold call (male or female) will find this book quite useful.

A practical guide to the Hollywood system.......2005-07-20
"Opening the doors to Hollywood" gives a great overview of the Hollywood system for any writer wanting to break in to the business.
It has a great "key" system which highlights useful websites and essential advice. It gives a good insight into the functioning of the major studios, independent production companies and television networks.
Overall, it's a very practical text which demystifies the Hollywood system and provides paths for new writers wanting to break in. "Opening the doors to Hollywood" is a useful and inspiring text.
Like Having a Friend in the Business........2000-05-28
The authors give a 'nuts and bolts' overview of the entertainment business, and generally what a novice can expect once they have taken that first step into the glittering city called Hollywood. The sage advice given is ample to give a newcomer enough information to lead to the proper Hollywood doors, rather than down blind alleys. The authors give great advice, the dreamer has to do the work. I would highly recommend.
