Great book to learn Enviroment Systems. Gave me an A in the course. Easy to read, and follow. Filled with much needed charts, tables, and pictures. I recommend for this subject
Construction managment.......2001-08-12
This book was written by my old professor at wentworth institute of technology. Although he only gave me a B in the class i have to say the book was written very well ;). It is designed to give the reader important information of construction management in a very basic way. If you are a beginner in the construction business you can not go wrong with this book.
Customer Reviews:
A 'must have' book!.......2000-03-16
I fully recommend this book for any new user of P3. I considered it as a "must have" title.
Not so hot.......2000-01-21
This book and the reviews I had read about it made it sound like a stand-alone guide to Project Planner. I found it to be inconsistent in its presentation, ranging anywhere from speaking to a infant in the computer world to assuming I already knew what I was doing. The detail in it's instruction was just not what it appeared to be, and that hurt my overall rating of the book. If you have the book right next to you and you've already gone through the tutorial, then you've got a fighting chance to get through this book without wasting your money or your time.
Excellent!.......1999-01-28
This book provides an overview of the scheduling process first. Then, the author starts to tie P3 into puzzle. The end result is that you have resource that you can read from start to finish, and also use it as a reference once you have finished reading the book. The author also touches on many of the advanced capabilities of P3. I am somewhat biased toward this book. The author is the one who actually taught me how to use P3 while developing this book. He teaches a class on scheduling at Texas A&M University. I am currently recommending my coworkers who are involved in scheduling to read this book. I would highly recommend it to anyone involved in scheduling with P3 or Suretrak. We have had great success with teaching our project managers how to use P3 using this book. The first part of the book is usefull for project managers who are not involved in P3 "hands-on", but who are involved in projects that use P3. It helps the project managers understand the scheduling process. It also helps the project scheduler because the project manager is providing better feedback.

Excellent Construction Contract Admnistration Advice.......2000-02-20
Mr. Gilbreath's "Managing Construction Contracts" book does an excellent job of describing important "how to" aspects of construction contract administration. He also provides excellent insight into "why" it is important to perform the outlined contract administration tasks. His "real life examples" are outstanding!

Managing the Construction Process: Estimating, Scheduling, and Project Control (3rd Edition) (Purchased on 10/12/2006) .......2007-01-10
Required reading for a construction management course.
A bit dissappointing.......2006-02-25
The book was shrink wrapped but it was damaged. Not sure if it was the fault of the publisher or the seller but in either case I expected a better product.

You're no idiot, of course. You fold your laundry and put each article of clothing where it belongs, stack dishes in your dishwasher so they won't clank together, and keep all of your bills in a drawer by the microwave. But when it comes to finding your beloved blue shirt, your favorite cereal bowl, and your electric bill when you need them, you feel like it would be easier to organize a posse than organize your stuff. Don't call the cavalry yet! The Complete Idiot's Guide to Organizing Your Life, Second Edition helps you build the skills you need to hold everything together and stay in control of your life--even in the cyber-dominated 21st century. Customer Reviews:
Actually quite good, overall, if a bit too broad in focus.......2007-07-30
Let me first say briefly that I don't care for the "Complete Idiot's ...." series name. It's one thing to be called a "Dummy" by another popular series, but a "complete idiot" is taking it a step too far, at least for me. So why did I pick up the book and read it? Well, frankly, most of the other titles available looked a bit too dry, and this was cheap.
In spite of my prejudices against the book, the first four chapters really impressed me, particularly the foundational discussions that analyze what role "stuff" plays in our lives and why we become bound to "stuff." This section of the book cut pretty deeply. As a matter of fact, I should go back and reread it every year or so.
The middle sections of the book dealing with actual organizational techniques, were in my opinion good but only average. I read a couple other organizational books at the same time as this book, as well as many web sites, and found that there is a lot of common wisdom about organization that is expressed in different words, but is more or less equal. However, if you really need this book, then it's likely that you need a plan to be laid out for you, even if it is only common sense. After all, not all recipes are amazingly creative, but we still need to follow a recipe!
Toward the end, the book includes chapters on organizing your taxes, your finances, your pet supplies, your vactions, etc. This is where I more or less lost interest. It's also the primary reason this is a four star (maybe three and a half) rather than a five star review. I've no doubt that these chapters may help some readers. However, if you just want to organize your "stuff," then you may be left wishing for more advice on organizing general THINGS and less advice on organizing specific items such as vacations and taxes.
Very helpful with organization.......2007-04-07
This is an excellent book. It helps you put together a plan to get started. I just got rid of 30 bags of stuff I didn't need. Nice and refreshing. It has helped me with my shopping problem. I highly recommend this book.
Happy.......2007-02-17
Book looks like it is what I want. Received it in good time and excelle nt condition. Thanks so much. KA
This book changed my life, literally........2006-02-04
With all the harsh reviews of this book, I had to put my two cents in. All my life, I had kept everything because I was so sentimental. Any little thing I was given, no matter if it was useful or not, was to be kept. I spent most of my teenage years perenally cleaning my room. It's not that I was a slob persay, but that I didn't have enough room to keep everything put away neatly. So it overflowed into my attic.. which was a mess as well.
When I went to college, the clutter came with me. Finally, the summer of my freshman year, I saw this book (2nd edition I think), in a bookstore and picked it up. I can honestly say it was a Godsend. Georgene Lockwood gave simple advice for dealing with the clutter that had taken over my life. It took me all summer to put everything in order. I had to get over the "attachment" I had to each item. I followed Lockwood's common sense approach for cleaning out each room, and closet. I gave things to friends, charities, had yard sales. For the first time in my life, I started to keep a filing system following the principles put forth in this book. I learned what chores I should do, and how often to keep the house cleaner. Now I have my own home, and it may not be perfect, but the amount of clutter is very low, and pretty much everything has a system.
The straight forward style of writing may be intimidating to those who aren't ready to make a life change. It's kinda like dieting, you have to be ready to change. If you're willing to make a change and strictly follow the steps in this book, you'll be all set.
dissapointed..........2005-10-05
ive read over 10 guides in this vien. this one's an overall dry read. i know my review's harsh but its the truth.

Customer Reviews:
Good resource for me!.......2007-01-18
I'm employed as Project Manager for a company which fabricates and erects steel framed commercial buildings. When I first began this job, many administrative processes were less-than-ideal. Chapter 17 covers Safety quite well. We have made changes to our documents and breifings which replicate the guidelines within this book!
I found Chapter 3 helpful. Change Orders are explained well enough for my needs.
Chapter 7 is titled, Project Scheduling. I'd hoped to learn about features and use of common software scheduling programs but instead rec'd a chapter of fairly useless math calculations and symbols which are largley irrelevant in 2007. Hey, software is the way to go!
In summary, I found this book to be well written and organized. I doubt it can be PERFECT for each and every Construction Manager but I'm glad this resource is on my shelf!
Short, Grad Level Survey Coursebook.......2007-01-13
OUCH! ... and OUCH! I've purchased many texts based on reviews, sales rankings and preveiws, but this is my first major burn. With no reviews, I based my purchase on the high sales ranking. But I don't know who would find this a value. It is a high level survey text. Short chapters with min development. I know enough about the subject such that some chapters are total review while others are nowhere near complete for a topic new to a person. Physically short, small text overall - the white matter is 9/16" thick! Even has the audacity to include the "filler" appendices with copies of contracts. Well written with good grammar, lots of graphs etc. so it is obviously a university favorite somewhere, hopefully with an excellent instructor offering lots of additional commentary. But not remotely worth the whopping price, and wish the author would teach me his secret to publishing negotiations. Short of that, send me a check. Next version, add 200 pages and cut the coverage then add some depth. Maybe if I were in a different industry or discipline (e.g. banking, civil) and this was to be used for an MS/PhD elective?
An excellent guide for a construction engineer.......2000-10-15
This book have excellents concepts about the construction industry. I found a lot of examples like cost control systems, construction codes, change orders and budgets. The most important thing is how the book tide all this concepts and give you an idea of the entire situation
Book Description
Brief and practical, this popular book focuses on what classroom assessment is and how to do it, and bridges the gap between testing a learner's knowledge of particular information and measuring his or her ability to transfer knowledge and think strategically. Coverage encompasses all of the issues surrounding the use of classroom assessments (validity, reliability, bias, impact) through targeted discussions that address everything prospective teachers need to know, completely yet succinctly. The authors offer a comprehensive menu of techniques for assessing not only what learners know, but also how they think, how they perform, and how they apply what they know within authentic, real-world contexts. For individuals administering tests, and implementing other measurements tools, for the assessment of students in elementary and middle schools.

A Birthday Gift That Got Used........2007-09-10
This was one of the 'how to' books I bought for my husband for his birthday. He had been remarking how he was tempted to build his own computer! Just last night he said he was ready to put his newly built computer in a permanent place - thanks due to several times referring to these books and got the answers he needed! He was glad to cross compare what one book said and how another might reword the same topic. Bottom line: A Computer Was Built!
A solid reference.......2006-11-08
This is probably the best "how-to" book on home PC building. Most are either too specialized (case modding, fancy cooling solutions, etc) or too basic (pick a motherboard... pick a CPU... put them together... The end!), but this work is just right. It is very informative, even to someone who considers themselves a very experienced PC user, yet remains straightforward, and anticipated many common concerns. The only downside is that this type of book is out of date very soon after publication. This volume only covers Pentium 4 and Athlon 64 systems, but obviously doesn't include the new Socket 775 Core 2 Duo processors from Intel, or the socket AM2 Athlon X2 from AMD. That said, I recommend the book and the author very highly.
What a great book!.......2006-04-11
I bought this book because I wanted to build a computer but was a little nervous about doing it. This book tells you everything you need to know and gives you the confidence to build your own pc. My pc build went flawlessly and I have this book to thank for it. The illustrations are very helpful and informative. I had a general knowledge of computers but had never built one from scratch. This book is great for people that don't have much experience with computers because it explains everything in detail, describing all of the parts and has 3 different build configurations. Pretty much everything is covered between the 3 different build so that no matter what kind you will build, it will be covered in this book. I highly recommend this book.
Build your own PC.......2006-03-09
This is the best book of its kind I have read, and it describes fully what you need and what to do with the equipment..
It's 5 star to me......
A great read.......2006-02-23
This is a very helpful book to those who want to learn to build a pc. It has somewhere near to 200 illistrations to help guide you along, and it is easy to read.
