Buy This Book First.......2006-11-14
After spending quite a bit of money on books trying to educate myself about the "dark arts" of options I was fortunate enough to get my hands on what I can only describe as the definitive work for this esoteric financial vehicle. Unlike many financial author "gurus", Bill Johnson is someone who is a real trader first, and author second. . If you ever get a chance to see him do a live seminar, they are a must see. My understanding is that he originally trained the Schwab people about options.
Simply put, this is the ONLY BOOK you may ever need regarding this subject so purchase it first. It is very clearly written and easy to understand (which would put it head and shoulders above the others on that reason alone) You WILL come away with a clear understanding of the subject and will know much more than your broker does about this subject by the time you finish.
Great Options book for beginners or experienced traders.......2005-04-08
This book is the bible of Options trading. It goes over everything from the greeks to advance options strategies and even market maker rules that you can take advantage of. One of the best books you could ever invest in.
The workbook is really helpful because you need to be actively participating while learning such things.
I use to be lost when I saw a options table but now it's just second nature.
It teaches you how to make money in bear bull and choppy markets. And it clearly defines the risk of each trade and other synthetics.
Did you know that a covered call is the same as a short put. That alone made me rethink, the strategies my broker tried to sucker me into. He tried to dupe me into thinking it's safer when it isn't, might as well just do the short put to save on commissions.
Once again this book is the Bible of options trading.

This book really is not about teaching someone to trade.......2007-09-18
I was looking for a basic book teaching the concepts and trading practices and fundamentals. This book has a lot to say about none of the topics needed to help someone become a trader. If you are looking to have someone trade your account you might be helped by it. There are a lot better books out there "Getting Started in Currency Trading" is a fine example. This is the best buy for the money when you are done reading it you will be much better informed to move ahead. The Cover PAge looks pretty!!!.......2007-06-07
Well when i grow up i to be Russell R Wasendorf, whether sr. or jr. I think these two are the greatest salesmen around. I bought a wonderful book which adorns my bookcase and adds colour and life to my room. Whats more is that i found the same book in my brother's home. Thinking he 'borrowed' it I asked him, He replied saying he 'invested' in it and it works well as a sleep aide . Seriously some points for beginners are reasonably covered but most of the book was a waste of time, paper and resources. There were no Fine points covered in the book to memory but if there were it was lost in the dribble.

As others have said clearly, this book is a waste of trees, ink and the time of its reader. The "authors" should be ashamed of such blatant hucksterism and poor description of even the most basic aspects of trading. Even if you are a neophyte, look somewhere else.

... I have no idea what objective these guys had in mind when they sat down to write this book.... This book is just a bunch of information thrown together (probably downloaded from the internet) and they obviously took no time to put any real effort into this book. I was terribly dissappointed with my purchase of this book.....look elsewhere if you are interested in getting started in forex trading.

Best coverage on Leaps.......2007-08-10
This book is written in a very methodical manner with detail coverage of each topic. The book is not one you set down a read in one or two settings but requires careful reading and study. In fact, I have read about 1/3 of the book in depth and proof read the remainder for an overview of its contents. The reason for not giving it 5 stars is I have not applied any of the trade stategies in the book and secondly there are no stock charts in book. Stock charts are an important part of deciding which option trade to apply.
Superb Text on the Use of LEAPS.......2007-07-07
This book is one of the best options texts I've ever read. The material is presented in a clear, easy to understand manner and is less technical than the McMillan books, but is still useful to the experienced options investor.
One thing I like about the book is that it defines the difference between trading and investing and presents strategies for both options traders and investors (though I disagree with the manner in which he differentiates the two groups).
As the title indicates, the book concentrates on LEAPS strategies and presents a number of conservative uses for these instruments. Included in these strategies are stock replacements, covered call writing, spreads and using deep-in-the-money LEAPS as an alternative to margining stocks.
I've been an options investor for nearly 30 years and employ the more conservative strategies mentioned above to enhance the returns on my equity portfolio. While Allaire writes in a manner that is understandable to the novice, I was impressed with the subtle issues and practicle considerations he discusses for each of the strategies.
He also does not over hype the strategies as so many other writers do. This is another reason for giving the book a five-star rating.

Very disappointing.......2004-09-21
The title of this book is misleading. Only one chapter in the entire book deals with hedged scale trading and to sum it up the author says..."buy puts". Brilliant. The rest of the book describes scale trading (poorly) and fundamental analysis. If you want to learn about scale trading go to the source. Look at Robert Weist's, "You Can't Loose Trading Commodities". Weist does a much better job describing this trading technique. This book was a real disappointment and waste of money (in my opinion).

Mr. McCaffery writes with clarity and leads the reader surely towards a grasp of this somewhat arcane futures trading strategy. Scale trading with options means : buying (or shorting) a hedged commodity with the expectation that the price will revert to its mean within a certain period of time.
Specifically, you buy a commodity (sugar, soybeans, oil, etc.) that's trading toward its historic lows. You purchase put options to put a floor under the trade (limiting your risk), and scale into the trade (buy more futures at pre-determined intervals) if the price continues to fall. You are relying on the near certainty that the price must eventually rise. If you hold long enough and if all goes as it should (i.e., you execute), you will make a boatload of money in the eventuality. Obviously, attempting to scale trade a stock, which may have no tangible worth (think "Enron") is a bad idea, hence the focus on commodities futures.
"Understanding Hedged Scale Trading" offers a relatively user-friendly technique for playing in the pits. After explaining how the futures markets work, the author gets right down to the real nitty-gritty: deciding which commodities to trade, the mechanics of trading futures, and how to buy more time (roll over your position). There is even a short treatise on technical analysis.
According to the publisher (and my Amazon search), this is the only comprehensive book on hedged scale trading currently available. Good thing that it's a keeper.

If you only buy one book about infertility, buy this one. It offers in-depth, solid information about male and female infertility problems, testing, hormone levels and treatments.
But what really separates this book from the others is that it includes a great deal of information on how to decide which treatments are right for you, as well as when (if) you should end treatment. They don't give any pat answers, but they do equip you with the decision making skills you need to reach a point of resolution.

I was grateful to find this new book to address many questions and concerns I had. The content is thorough, the tone is very compassionate, and the suggestions are respectful of diverse values. There are lots of quotes from real people that bring a nice personal touch to a sometimes very clinical subject. I get a lot of comfort from just re-reading parts of the book that reassure me that others before me have taken and survived this journey. I don't know of any other book like it.

RESOLVE has been helping those in the infertility for years and continues to do so with this amazing book. The author takes you through the biological side of conceiving and also the different causes of infertility. What I especially liked about it is how easy it is to understand as it guides you through the entire process from medical, to diagnosis and through treatment, pregnancy and beyond.
It provides sound advice for infertility coverage and choosing a good doctor. It offers alternatives to conventional fertility treatment, as well as adoption, and the use of donors and/or surrogates. It also takes you through resolving issues to help those who choose to live life without children or to move on to adoption. Throughout, if gives the reader emotional support, which I feel is the hardest obstacle to overcome. As a fertility patient myself, and director of community of ChildofMyDreams.com, I highly recommend it.

although a great intro course (actually there is no need for complicated options strategies because options is 99% stock picking. what you need to do guys is learn general market timing and charting individual issues. in other words, all you need to know is how to trade stocks successfully. If you can't do this first, then you will have a very difficult time if not impossible time in options.) those who need something more comprehensive should go elsewhere. For what it needs to get accross as an intro, this book is well rounded and written.
Your launching pad into the world of stock options.......2007-06-30
I was in the middle of writing my own book on retirement investing, which I have now finished. During that process I read many different books to get a well-around education on the subject. One area that always fascinated me - but seemed overwhelming - was the arena of stock options. I read the Futures and Options for Dummies book, only to then become more confused. I kinda gave up on the subject until I stumbled upon Michael Sincere's book in the store.
Don't let the size of the book fool you. The author packs quite a lot of information into these 221 pages. He explains the world of stock options in a very easy-to-understand format. Michael debunks many myths about options and shows you that while some types of options are highly risky, some are not.
This book is the launching pad to get you started in the world of stock options. You will eventually need to read more if you wish to purchase or sell options, but this book becomes your foundation. The nice thing about this book is that you will quickly learn whether or not options are right for you. Personally, I do not want to participate in options. However, I was able to make an informed decision based on the knowledge found in this book. I am still glad I read the book and highly recommend it to anyone who is curious about stock options.

Wow. I'm really impressed with the authors approach in explaining how options works. I can't believe I was able to move from one chapter to another and I'm understanding what I'm reading.So what I did next is I checked for all the other books written by Michael sincere that the book store carries and I bought them too. The other book I bought was "Understanding Stocks". If you are a beginning investor like me , buy this book.
