Book Description
Featuring an ideal balance of managerial issues and quantitative techniques, this new Fifth Edition of Russell and Taylor's comprehensive introduction to operations management keeps pace with current innovations and issues in the field, particularly those related to the impact of information technology and the global business environment on OM. The authors present the concepts clearly and logically, and help students see how OM relates to real business.
Russell and Taylor recognize that many students struggle with the quantitative material in their Operations Management course. That's why their text offers extensive collection of exercises and solved problems, along with outstanding problem-solving support, including eGrade Plus. eGrade Plus links problems from the book to relevant sections in an online version of the text, and provides opportunities for practice and a quantitative survival guide.

FAST SHIPPING!!!.......2007-09-10
My textbook was in a great condition and when they said fast shipping, they meant FAST SHIPPING! I recommend this seller to everyone because they are excellent in providing the best service that I have ever encounter on the website. Thanks!!!
Quite Comprehensive.......2006-03-17
This text offers great details, but I did not rate it as 5 stars because (1) when searching for content, it is difficult to see the key words in the text and (2) the case studies are well selected, but since they are inserted throughout the chapter, it is challenging to determine where the case ends and the author's content begins.
Overall, I would recommend the Jennings text and will keep a copy on my shelf.
Good enough.......2005-09-12
The book was damaged but it looks like its the post office job because the envelope used to cover the book was damaged as well. Besides that, the transaction was good
15 days to tell us they didn't have the book........2004-11-16
I ordered the book from them on Nov1. On Nov 15 I called and they told me they didn't have it. The money was returned by Amazon.
Overall, I recommend it........2001-09-04
This book was assigned to one of my MBA classes. The book itself was a good source of reference not only for my business law class but also to other two classes. The book's language is simple and easy to understand. The only flaw I found about this this book was that some cases were complex and I had to refer to actual law books and regulations. Overall, I recommend this book.

AN OUTSTANDING BOOK IN EVERY RESPECT........2005-12-11
This book presents a stakeholder perspective for understanding the big picture of corporate social responsibility (CSR). These stakeholders are grouped as follows:
organizational (employees, managers, stockholders, unions);
economic (e.g., customers, creditors); and
societal (e.g., communities, government and regulators, the environment).
The book examines the scope of CSR, and views it through the lens of the needs and values of stakeholders. It puts forth the arguments against CSR.
CSR is examined in a strategic context, placing the subject in sharp focus from a business perspective. The authors examine a long list of issues that define CSR in practice, each associated with a specific stakeholder group, using a real-life case study with supporting sources. Vivid examples of CSR strategies in action are provided.
The book is a treasure trove of information and insights. It is comprehensive, and extremely well organized-an outstanding book in every respect. For anyone interested corporate social responsibility, this book is must-reading.
Book Description
Why is the standard of living in some countries so much higher than in others? Why does unemployment sometimes rise sharply in a short time and what can governments do about it? When, if ever, should governments borrow to finance spending? Written with a strong global business focus, Miles and Scott’s
Macroeconomics and the Global Business Environment, Second Edition examines fascinating, real-world economic issues, shows why these issues matter, and uses them as an entry point into advanced economic theory. Throughout, the authors present technical material clearly and accessibly, allowing you to develop a solid understanding of the global economy and how economists think about it.
Customer Reviews:
Great transaction!.......2005-09-26
Shipped book in promised condition! excellent! would definitely interact with again! :) thank you again!
Fast shippment.......2004-08-25
The shippment was excellent. I received the book 5 days after I palced my order!
Yet Another Economics Book!.......2004-07-26
This is a good book, designed for students wanting to understand macroeconomics without previous knowledge of the subject matter. However, it addresses advanced topics in an attractive style.
After reading every chapter you will be able to grasp the concept behind the text. However in some chapters you may need to make extra research for you to be able to formulate an understanding of the concept and eventually you may need some case studies that explain the economic implications of the inherent results.
Not Bad, But A Little Difficult.......2003-11-06
Miles and Scott's explanation of some concepts is quite convoluted. Students new to economics will find this text difficult. I recommend the Gans, King, and Mankiw macroeconomics textbook, which is more readable, more colorful, and more enjoyable. I am also looking forward to my lecturer's new textbook.
Definitely worth getting for MBA students and World Leaders!.......2001-08-17
A great insight into how world economics really works. It's easy to read with examples and diagrams that really help you understand why people behave economically the way they do. To add to this, Andrew Scott is one of the best lecturers to have worked at London Business School.
This text should be compulsory for all World Leaders!
Book Description
In this engrossing and original book, Leslie Salzinger takes us with her into the gendered world of Mexico's global factories. Her careful ethnographic work, personal voice, and sophisticated analysis capture the feel of life inside the maquiladoras and make a compelling case that transnational production is a gendered process. The research grounds contemporary feminist theory in an examination of daily practices and provides an important new perspective on globalization.
Customer Reviews:
The exploitation of gender for profit.......2005-06-25
"Genders in Production" by Leslie Salzinger is a groundbreaking study about production processes in Mexico's maquiladoras. This fascinating book should appeal to academics, feminists, labor activists and others who may be interested in learning about the dynamic processes by which globalization exploits gender for profit. Importantly, Ms. Salzinger's keen insight and analysis helps open the door to imagining a world where gender stereotypes could be transcended and labor rights accorded more respect.
Ms. Salzinger's meticulous ethnographic work at four maquila factories helps her obtain an insider's view of how sexual identities struggle for recognition and reward on the shop floor. The author discusses how the "trope of feminity" deludes investors into locating factories in places where it is believed that female laborers will passively accept routinized work for low wages. However, as the facts on the ground depart from this fantasy, the struggle between capital and labor is observed to be gendered but nonetheless highly variable and contextual.
Ms. Salzinger dedicates one chapter apiece to her experiences at four manufacturing plants in northern Mexico. She cleverly assigns pseudonyms to describe the salient characteristics of each plant. For example, "Andromex" is a factory where male and female workers become almost androgenous through the development of similar work habits; "Anarchomex" is noteworthy for its embattled masculine workers conflicting both amongst themselves and with female co-workers to create nearly anarchic conditions of production; and so on. The writing in these chapters is vivid, engaging and intelligent, imparting glimpses into both the worker's daily struggle for survival and the logic of the managerial systems that controls and exploits these workers.
I found it interesting (if not disheartening) to learn that capital's strategy of dividing the working class by gender has proven to be remarkably effective. By redefining production as primarily women's work, employers can pay below-subsistance wages and offer scant benefits, job enrichment or advancement opportunities. As made clear through Ms. Salzinger's field research, these diminished career expectations deprive the working class of Mexico with the hope of achieving a better life and are frequently used as a threat to drive down wages in the U.S. and other industrialized nations.
In the final chapter, Ms. Salzinger draws on feminist writings to connect the trope of feminity with cultural norms that tend to devalue women through their association with domesticity. By discovering that gendered meanings in the workplace can be flexible, however, the author suggests that subjectivity may be contestable. If structures of power are a "concatenation of common-sense understandings" about women's perceived role in the home, she argues, then the reality of changed meanings forged in the crucible of workplace production may point the way in time to new, empowered definitions.
I highly recommend this book to demanding readers who may be interested in an original and thought-provoking thesis about gender and globalization.

Book Description
Mallor, Barnes, Bowers and Langvardt’s, Business Law: The Ethical, Global, and E-Commerce Environment, 12th Edition, is appropriate for the two-term business law course. The cases in the 12th edition are excerpted and edited by the authors. The syntax is not altered, therefore retaining the language of the courts. As in the 11th edition, the 12th edition includes a mix of actual AND hypothetical cases. The title has been changed to reflect a new focus of the book – the global and Internet environment. Business Law: The Ethical, Global, and E-Commerce Environment, 12e includes new pedagogy such as opening vignettes and new-boxed features such as “Ethics in Action” and “Cyberlaw in Action.” This combined with case briefs and concept reviews, along with some reorganization of the text results in a more complete, relevant and user-friendly text.

wrong one.......2006-11-11
book arrived timely fashion but was wrong book. Could not tell from description that this was a study guide and I needed "real" book!
Great intro to law text.......2005-09-30
As an MBA student, this text was a great introduction to business law. The actual cases proved to be quite interesting and illustrative of the topics discussed throughout the text. You must go through the text before reading the cases or you may be confused, but the terms are so well laid out that once familiar with them, the cases are quite easy to understand and you are able to brief them yourself! Will serve as an excellent reference and I have decided to keep it in my library.
Excellent!!!.......2005-09-27
I could not be happy with the speed and condition of this item. I am very pleased with the purchase that I made, and look forward to doing business with them if needed. Thank you for the wonderful, and speedy service.
Not reader friendly, not study friendly, not friendly...........2003-09-03
I understand Jane Mallor to be top in her field. But since this book is geared toward a non-law student - a business student, I give this book a 1, and a zero if I had the chance.
This book - textually speaking - is so poorly arranged. Key terms are imbedded in the text, there's no review at the end of the chapters, it's written in terrible legal-ease. "Down to earth" (non lawyer legal-ease) examples are difficult to come by, since most of the examples are actual cases that go on for pages (and they're "briefs"). To compound the matter, I spent $$$ on the study "guide" because the book is so unfriendly for studying. And guess what? The study guide has NO ANSWERS! What kind of a guide is that? How does that guide you? If you want it to be an "additional exercises" book, then call it that. But STUDY GUIDES ALWAYS have the answers. I hope your Prof. is better than the book they assign. "Business Law Today" is worlds better and easier to read and study, and better outlined and formatted for the "lay" person.
Book Description
Marketing: Principles and Perspectives is a cutting edge text. In the first edition, we demonstrated this leading coverage with our strong integration of Integrated Marketing Communication and Direct Marketing. In the second edition we continued our modern coverage by integrating cross-functional teams, customer loyalty, and the Internet / technology. The third edition includes an E-Commerce chapter and continues to fully integrate the Internet throughout. The authors not only talk about what marketing is, but prepare the students to be marketers by involving them in interactive exercises which strengthen decision making skills. Marketing, Third Edition offers the latest coverage, quality professor supplements, and an interactive student web tool and still it is approximately $20 less than most principles of marketing competitors.

Book Description
Throughout the world there is a growing demand for high quality public services to support socio-economic development. Infrastructure is central to improving the level of public services and the quality of the built environment. But in key areas such as transport, energy, water, healthcare, education and communications, public resources are not sufficient to keep pace with this demand. As the public sector struggles to keep up, the private sector is increasingly involved in the procurement of economic and social infrastructure.
Until now procurement strategies have often concentrated on the mechanisms and the bricks and mortar without a thorough analysis of the processes and their implications for services. The result is that all too often infrastructure projects are implemented in an ad hoc and fragmented way. In this ground-breaking book, Rodney Howes and Herbert Robinson provide a holistic approach to infrastructure provision that facilitates infrastructure delivery aimed at continuously improving the level and quality of services. Critical issues of policy and strategy, implementation, and operational aspects are examined within the context of sustainability.
By emphasising the importance of procuring infrastructure within an overall national or regional development policy and strategy, the authors have demonstrated the importance of linking investment and resource decisions to local social, economic and environmental needs. With each chapter carefully written to reflect part of the infrastructure delivery chain and illustrated with practical examples and case studies from around the world, this book offers a new blueprint for infrastructure investment and resource management.
* Strategic look at infrastructure provision
* A global approach illustrated with international case studies
* Puts sustainability AND growth at the heart of investment strategy
Book Description
Global warming is the greatest environmental threat facing humanity. From killer heat waves and increasingly violent weather to the spread of pests and vector-borne diseases, global warming has many effects on our lives. While some are positive, most are negative. People fear potentially catastrophic consequences but there is a disturbing lack of understanding about global warming and what can be done about it. Global Warming breaks through the jargon, offering readers both a clear description of the problem and a practical guide to solutions, from decreasing reliance on automobiles to increased recycling to political activism. It offers hope that each of us can be doing something to solve the problem and encourages us to act--not only for ourselves, but for our children and grandchildren.

The Missing Book ... but Worth the Wait.......2005-11-03
I ordered this book 3 months ago on Amazon. The book didn't turn up so unfortunately I couldn't make a proper review. I wasn't too impressed with Amazon - after numerous emails unananswered the book finally turned up 3 months and 20 days since the date of ordering. What can i say? ... It was definitely worth the wait. A very readable account of a highly complex topic demonstrating just how important it is that we all take action! I especially liked the advice on pp143 ...
interesting, engaging, makes you want to know more.......2005-08-19
In this book, Chris Spence was able to present global warming as a real and compelling issue and to entice the reader to investigate deeper into the complexities of this subject. This is more than any technical essay on global warming could have achieved in terms of drawing the attention to such an important subject, often disregarded because too "technical".
Easy Read.......2005-08-17
Good book that gets to the heart of the issues surrounding global warming, and does so without pummeling the reader with environmental jargon.
Important, Smart, and Readily Accessible.......2005-07-29
This book brings the issue of Global Warming to the masses. Chris Spence does an excellent job making this topic understandable and interesting while still impressing upon the reader the magnitude of this problem. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is trying to decipher the simple truth about Global Warming and what we can do, on a personal level, to help alleviate this problem.
Book Description
In the latter part of the nineteenth century, the citizens of Great Britain faced a formidable challenge: coal resources seemed destined to run out and commentators were unable to foresee a viable alternative fuel. To address the crisis, military strategists were urged to seize control of coal in foreign lands, and companies were encouraged to increase domestic production of the resource.
In Global Energy Shifts, Bruce Podobnik draws intriguing parallels between the "coal panics" that once swept through Britain and the "oil panics" that grip the world today. His concise history of global energy use contextualizes the coal and oil scares, demonstrating how the convergence of specific geopolitical, commercial, and social conditions can generate rapid and far-reaching transformations in the energy foundations of our world.
Ultimately, Podobnik informs readers on how a "crisis" of one fuel system is quickly averted with the introduction of another, and describes opportunities for shifting our problematic, oil-based system toward a renewable energy system.
