Book Description
An excellent study guide for veterinary technician students, this book is an ideal review for final examinations, state certification examinations, and the Veterinary Technician National Examination. The sections in the text mirror the sections on the national exam, with over 2,800 multiple-choice questions - written by expert veterinary technician educators - that contain the most current information available on various subject areas. A companion CD-ROM features 2,400 additional questions in tutorial mode, categorized by subject matter, with immediate feedback and rationales for correct answers. Test mode on the CD-ROM allows the user to take three randomized 200-question tests a maximum of three times each, which provides feedback on scores in each of the subject areas and points out areas requiring further study.
Customer Reviews:
FINALLY a great book/program to help me pass the RVT!!.......2007-08-29
Having graduated at the top of my class and as RVT club president, I was NOT ready to fail the California RVT exam. Alas I did. So then I hit the books...all of them I used in college. Still, failed by only a few, I repeated this process until I tried and failed a total of 4 times. That started in 1999 when I graduated college. For those of you unfamiliar, the CALIFORNIA RVT exam is well known for having a high failure rate, and for being archaic and out of date. You can be a very competent technician and still fail this exam. Its frustrating! My studying for this exam was scattered, and since you dont know what you get wrong or right on the test, I had no idea WHERE my weakness are/were i.e. Pharmacology, Anesthesiology, Physiology etc. WELL NO MORE! I cant tell you how this has helped me identify weaknesses and strengths! I am now studying without worry of passing as this book is exactly what every tech needs to study and pass! Great info, well written, I am learning and relearning better than the first time around in college. WORTH EVERY PENNY!! I bought the review book and read that then make a game of the CD Rom like trivia. NO STRESS or work or worry. Wish I would have had these back in 99!
Good Reference Book.......2007-07-09
I think that this book was an excellent study guide for the veterinary techology state and national exams, the tests are extremely hard.
Very helpfull for the National Exam.......2005-07-10
This book helped a lot when I was studying for the Vet Tech national boards. There were some repeat questions but that wasn't a problem. The questions got you thinking and some of the questions in the book were on the board test.
A Wonderful Study Tool for Vet Techs AND Instructors!.......2005-05-09
I used the second edition book back when I took (and aced) the VTNE for my Oregon certification. Let me also state that I "grandfathered in" as a Certified Veterinary Technician, meaning that what I knew, I'd picked up along the many years working in the field, as opposed to a formal academic environment. Years later, I used the 3rd edition for the California State Board Exam. The tests are similar enough that I passed the latter with flying colors (after all, the science is the same, regardless of geography!) I owe much of the success in both cases to the Colville guide.
I am now an instructor for the Vet Tech program at a local college, and recommend this book as an adjunct for studying--the CD-ROM is really helpful. It offers immediate feedback with the correct answers, which is much like using flash cards, only neater.
Whether you're a student studying for your first Board Exam, or a veteran of the field in need of a refresher course, this book does not disappoint.
Review Questions and Answers for Veterinary Technicians.......2001-06-16
I used this text to study for my national boards two years ago and recommend to all of the students I encounter. It's a great way to test yourself before you take the exam. I purchased it about 6 weeks prior to. Each section gives you multiple choice questions about the knowledge you have already obtained. You can then grade yourself on the sections and see what weak areas you may need to "touch up on" before you test. It's well worth the money. I passed the exam, and felt it prepared me.

Book Description
By giving students practice answering questions similar to those found on real estate exams, this bestselling exam guide is specifically designed for real estate students who want to pass their licensing exams on the first try.
With over 1,800 questions, including 80 item sample broker and salesperson exams and three 80 item review exams, this book is intended for individuals preparing for salesperson and broker licensing exams. It is geared toward the
ASI exam, but is designed to be used to study for exams administered by any of the testing services such as: ASI, AMP, PSI, Experior (formerly NAI) and self testing states (CA, ME, MS, NY, NC, OH, OK, OR, SC, WV).
Detailed explanations, in the answer key at end of each chapter, provide a rationale as to why a given answer is correct, giving students the needed information to handle any type of question on any topic. This key feature, not found in many other exam guides, makes the book equally helpful to students preparing for any type of real estate exam.
Customer Reviews:
math review terrible.......2005-03-16
i agree with the original posting.
after purchasing this book,
it looks like the authors and editors failed to review their own work.
questions full of errors ( their explanations showed they transposed numbers etc.)
only AFTER one works thru the problem,
then goes to their explanation to find out the original question is not answered !
i would opt for a different book.
besides this book is too outdated !!
Excellent Book...If You Don't Look at Math Problems.......2004-11-01
I recently passed my Real Estate Salesperson exam. I used this book for review exercise. After reading the book I felt confident enough to tackle challenging questions. I was able to finish the national section with 20 minutes to spare!
Each section of the book has a glossary of terms and ends with a "False Friends" (a list of oft-confused terms) subsection. For those in hurry, the book has a selection of representative questions in grey boxes. Review those and you will have a feel for the questions on that section. There are a few separate review exams for salespersons and brokers. I found that questions were probing and required a good understanding of a chapter. Compared to these, the real text book end-of-chapter questions looked like kid stuff. The book is recommended for all those taking national portion of the real estate related exams, sales persons or associate/broker.
The book is not without its weaknesses. As alluded to above, the book does not touch state portion of the exams. But that is not nothing compared to its handling of math probems. The readers are advised to ignore the math section altogether. Questions suffer from inaccuracies (e.g. the diagram of two adjacents rectangles with equal width shows length of the bigger rectangle less than that of smaller one.) Explanations for math problems have so many problems, that after spending an hour on math section I decided to forget it (I found 8 errors in an hour; and I am not a math genius.) Sometimes it looked like a poor case of cut and paste: answer for question 7 contained figures from (unrelated) question 6! Still the solution would come out correct. On page 260, ten percent of 87000 comes out 8800. I could go on. I have returned the book to library otherwise I would have given more examples.
An email to authors sent a month back has gone unanswered. You go figure!

Good book .......2007-05-12
My son is going through this with lot of enthusiasm. Well structured and very popular amongst others.
Great fun! Great knowledge for mom and son!!.......2007-04-17
This book is really neat. I love it. I learn so much every time I sit down with it. It is divided into parts for US questions, World questions and I can't recall what else. It comes complete with maps and it's very user friendly. I am not so strong in geography. When my son in grade 7 was second in a geography bee, I decided that he and I should brush up. So I got this book from Amazon and I do like it. I think the authors have put a lot of care and interest in this book and if you desire to strengthen your geo knowledge, this is the book for you.
the Geography Bee CompletePreparation Handbook:1001 Questions & Answers .......2007-02-20
This book is in a user-friendly format that is easy for studying. The questions are divided into different sections such as US information, places to know on the map,Tidbits of information, and then random questions. It isvery helpful.
A Must Have Car Book.......2006-11-10
What a great book to take along in the car on a trip. Good questions for adults to ask each other while driving long distance and something for the kids to enjoy also.
Good, short questions about the world that you probably knew most of the answers to but forgot. Skip the fast food drive-thru, get the book.
The Geography Bee book is a better buy.
Really good.......2006-02-24
I'm using this to teach my 7 and 6 years old children about geography. Really good starting point to prepare for the bee.

Customer Reviews:
Extremely helpful.......2007-09-08
Our son purchased this book to prepare for a department test. He stated that some of the questions were taken verbatim and that one of the quizzes was word for word from the book. This book helped him know what to expect and he not only passed his written exam but received an offer !! VERY helpful !!
Excellent prep for Virginia Firefighter 1.......2007-08-27
My husband used this prep book to prepare for Virginia's Firefighter 1 test. Only two or three questions on the state exam were not in this book and the rest were identical to the questions in this book. For the Virginia test I highly recommend it.
exelent prep tool.......2007-01-10
Very well researched. I have given this book to several of my trainees to help them prepare for the state FF I & II test. They have all come back stating that this book was the most help they had in preparation. Some questions on the state test were word for word out of the book
Fire Fighter I & II (Exam Prep) (Exam Prep (Jones & Bartlett Publishers)).......2005-10-31
I recently bought this book to prepare myself for the Florida State Fire fighter equivalency written exam. I have to say it was helpful in, helping me find my weaknesses, but very few questions that were on my exam were in this book. It has been 7 years since I had went through fire school, so I had forgot alot. Overall, the book did help, and I would recommend it to anyone who needs to find their weaknesses. The book has great references for a number of books, so you can look up the questions you get wrong and review the parts you are weak in.

Highly Recommended.......2002-08-21
I have been teaching ESL to Spanish speakers and Hebrew speakers for the past 3 years. My students love this book. The vocabulary points are clear and detailed. The exercises are directly relevant to all of the explanation. It is great for teachers in the classroom and for students who want to study on their own.
Exceptional, only by reading you'll believe it.......2000-05-31
Is an uncommon book that gives you an advanced introduction to most common vocabulary used among the students in North America, giving very good results for those who are learning the english as a second language to access college and studies purposes, enhancing the speech and personal vocabulary.

While some business schools show little interest in the AWA (analytical writing assessment) portion of your GMAT, other schools use the results to help distinguish between the hundreds of students competing for placement in their programs. If your schools of choice consider AWA results when selecting students, you'll need to devote time to your essays as well as to your math and verbal skills. When you take your GMAT, the computer randomly selects two essay questions from its question bank. GMAT CAT: Answers to the Real Essay Questions can help you prepare for all of them. No book is allowed to publish the questions (though this book's appendix will tell you how to download the 180 official AWA questions from the EST's web site)-- but this book does provide you with sample answers to all 180 questions. The authors warn you not to try to use their answers on the exam, as the GMAT readers feel pretty strongly about plagiarism--instead, they provide you with tools to help you compose your own high-scoring GMAT essays and a "scorecard" to help you score your practice essays. The book also offers advice on how to answer both the "analysis of an issue" and "analysis of an argument" questions, and truly practical information about the basic structure of the exam and even the word-processing program you'll be using on your test. Filled with such useful advice, GMAT CAT: Answers to the Real Essay Questions would be a great addition to the serious student's GMAT preparation. --C.B. Delaney

Customer Reviews:
A Helpful Book, But Not Everyone Needs It.......2007-04-27
Given the fact that the average writing score is around 4 out of 6, it is safe to assume that most test takers can write somewhat decent essays. The drawback of this book is that it needs to be updated to include the essay topics that GMAC has been adding to the question pool each year. It also would be nice to have the essay questions in the book. It can be time consuming to try to match up the essay topics, which are listed somewhere else on the web, to the essay answers in the book. But this book does teach people how to organize their thoughts and express them effectively. The sample essays might also give people fresh ideas on which stand to take for issue topics and what to look for in the argument topics.
Very good.......2007-03-12
By reading this book you can really understand exactly what the examinators (including computer examinator) are expecting and looking for in a GMAT essay.
You must have your own writing skills, but this book can definitely help with the format and key-phrases.
A realistic picture of the actual scene.......2005-10-09
This book gives one a thorough insight into the essay questions for GMAT. It is a must read for anyone giving the GMAT. It gets one thinking on the lines of the GMAT test setters. On the day of the GMAT one has to type one's own ideas but this book definitely prepares one for it.
Questions Are No Longer Available Online!.......2005-08-21
I ordered this book online. When I received the book, I was surprised to find that no questions are available in the book. I followed the instructions in the book to download the questions, but it 's a dead link!!! I could not find any other information on publisher's site. Do not buy this book unless you can find the questions to match the essays.
Excellent Essay Prep.......2005-05-18
I highly recommend this book if you want to maximize your GMAT AWA score. (And yes, AWA is not as important as the Q & V sections, but do you want people to think you're a lucky-guessing illiterate test monkey?)
This book helped me bag a perfect "6.0" on my GMAT essays recently. BUT NOTE: it *is* sufficient to buy a used copy of an older edition -- you don't need the newest one. I used the 1st edition from around 1998, that was fine.
You DO NOT need to read the book cover to cover. But do read at least 25 or 30 of the essays and pay attention. That will be excellent prep in showing you what a good essay is in terms of organization, length, rhetoric, etc. Well worth a few bucks and a few hours of prep time.

SAP MM Interview Questions.......2006-08-15
Interview Questions, Answers, and Explanations books
help SAP professions understand what information is essential,
and what can safely be ignored.
If you are a SAP consultant or contractor looking for a job,
you have many competing interests for your time - this series
of interview books helps you focus your study time. These books
are a learning tool which will help direct your learning - not
act as a replacement for your learning.
As you will probably see - these books do not come without
controversy - some people would rather the publisher stop
printing these books - but these are the people that think
their SAP knowlege is some sort of proprietary holding, and
that they are smarter than people who don't have this knowledge.
This series of books levels the playing field. The books
tell you what you need to know, and what you can safely ignore.
This book has led to many jobs landed, and new careers made.
Don't bluff your way into a job.......2006-07-29
I have an issue with the whole idea of buying a book just to get through an interview. I find it rather distasteful. I looked at this book as someone at work had it and I was disappointed at the content. I guess if it was the only book out there on MM then it would be be worth buying, but there are much better books out there if you actually want to know about the subject matter.
Interview Books.......2006-07-27
First, and frankly the most important thing to understand about interview questions books is that they help you save time. These books help you understand what deserves your attention and further reading, and what does not. These books help you understand what you need to learn, and what you can safely ignore. As an SAP consultant you can spend several hours each week, if not every day, learning about SAP. It is a major part of being an SAP person (especially a good one), and anything that you can do to reduce the amount of time you spend simply learning is very valuable to you. When you're spending time reading and not billing at a client, it can cost you about $100 each hour. That's expensive reading time! And so why would you even think twice about the cost of a $50 book if you think it will help you learn something valuable that you can apply at your job.
Second, the SAP market is evolving. It is evolving in ways that demand SAP people understand more about the product we are working with - It's not uncommon to see requests for an "MM and SD" functional consultant these days. Also, in my consulting practice, I am focusing on SRM - but each day I am called upon to talk about MM, PP, PS, and other areas in SAP. I think that clients are less and less willing to hear, "Well that's a FICO issue - or that's an MM issue."
Finally, I use these books myself. Each time I'm asked a question that stumps me, and this happens all of the time (despite what my clients may think), I turn to my own books as a reference. A couple of weeks ago someone asked me a question about a work order in PM. As an SRM consultant, I had little exposure to work orders. So I grabbed my PM Interview Questions book, looked up work orders in the index, and the EXACT question someone asked me was answered in the PM book. So the SAP Interview Questions, Answers, and Explanations series of books help save SAP people time because they show you what is important to learn, and I believe they help greatly in cross training - and so that's what these books are all about. They will save you time, and give you more knowledge about the SAP product. And the only group of people that don't want that to happen are consultants who want to keep their skills a secret!
This book is a Joke!.......2006-07-03
Unless you know absolutely nothing about SAP MM, you will find
this book absolutely ludicrous. I was apalled that someone had
the audacity to put together a collection of basic question-answers and charge $55 for this !
Unless you are really desperate and lazy to browse through some
of the SAP help, some popular usergroup SAP sites, you should not buy this book.
move from technical to functional.......2006-06-12
I have been programming in ABAP for several years and have experience in SAP. I was interested in learning MM, and learning so that I can get a job as a fucntional consultant. This book helped me learn what areas of SAP MM I should study, rather than reading the entire book. This book will help you realize what is important, and what is not important. It will help you understand what to learn. That is the key to this book.
Once you read this, you will know where else to turn for further study. This is not a cook book, but is a study guide that helped me get a job.

Book Description
Now more than ever, parents are told how important it is to talk meaningfully to their kids. This is the book that makes it happen. A revised and expanded second edition, The Kids' Book of Questions, with 634,000 copies in print, makes it easy to ask hard questions and fun to answer them. Questions to challenge, questions to provoke. Questions to entertain and expand young minds. Questions about right or wrong, about fears and hopes, ethics, religious beliefs, about why parents act the way they do--even about ruling the world.
Updated to include questions on subjects that have arisen since the book's original publication in 1988--from the internet to issues like school violence and terrorism--the book is a sure way to prod young people into discovering who they really are and what they really believe. There are inquiries into values: "If you knew you wouldn't get caught, would you cheat on a test by copying someone else's answers?" Intriguing fantasies: "If you could email any famous person and know they'd read and answer your note, who would you write to and what would you say?" Philosophical queries: "Have you had any personal experiences that lead you to believe in God?" Provocative scenarios: "After being given a truth pill, what would you say if you were asked to describe your family?"
Kids, and parents, will be amazed to find how far one little question will lead.

Not Appropriate .......2007-05-16
Although intriguing, many of the questions in the book are not appropriate for classroom use.
classroom ice breaker.......2007-02-19
I use this book in my classroom with juniors and seniors each semester. I teach a career awareness class and we discuss various topics focused around life in general. My students go around the room and choose a number, I then read that question....some are not appropriate, I have put an "X" over that question and have written another in its place. It was only a few and made for a great ice breaker to get students talking about priorities.
Great conversation kick-starters!.......2005-08-18
My kids and I spend Sunday mornings taking hikes and having long discussions about life, religion, school, etc. We take this book along on our hikes as our springboard for discussion. I read the questions out loud and let the kids answer them, and sometimes add on my own opinions when they're done. It gives me a chance to chime in about what I think is important and it keeps us talking. I think these conversations also help build empathy, understanding, and listening skills, as well as helping us to all remember to think before we speak. Some of the questions are lighthearted and some are more serious, and none so far have proven to be offensive to my family's ethics. My kids enjoy the questions, especially my nine-year-old son, and look forward to our hikes & talks all week long. I'm thrilled to get glimpses into my kids' heads on topics that are well worth discussing but might not otherwise come up in conversation.
perspectives through kids answers.......2003-08-24
I've used this book with my own kids, and I've used it in my classroom. It was enjoyed by so many students that I hate to say it, but one student walked off with it at the end of the year. I work in a school where a lot of the kids are at risk, and this book was wonderful as a tool to help them examin their attitudes, their fears, and their feelings about things. It takes a little time to look through and evaluate what would be good for your classroom. That's a subjective thing anyway, and you have to know your students, but over all, I find this book to be worthwhile and fun at the same time.
Much more appropriate for class than its predecessor.......2002-05-22
I use this in my public speaking class to start discussion groups.
It's pretty good, and far more appropriate for my students than "The Book of Questions." Some questions are ba bit elementary for my high schoolers, but that's okay.
