brillant brillant i thought colgate was good but this author leaves a smile on my dial
The only book you need!.......2007-09-10
This book teaches that even if you are not the next Amazon, ebay, or Google, you can still make a million on the internet. You just need to find a niche that is underserved.
I purchased "Starting an Online Business for Dummies" and the reviews were mixed. In someone's reviews, they mentioned this book and said it was much better. They suggested buying this book instead of the Dummies book. I took the advice, and am glad I did!
The book is great because it helps you understand that you don't need to be a billion dollar business to start with. Even small, underserved niche markets can earn a million.
I highly recommend this book if you are considering an ebusiness. It is well worth the money. I have been talking about this book to many people who have asked to borrow the book. I keep telling them to pick up their own copy because I am still using it as a reference! It is a great book!
Good Starter.......2007-09-10
This should be the first book you pick up on your way to an internet millionairehood.

Do no give your money to this Author.......2007-09-08
If you already know what a "blog" is and you're fully proficient in searching the internet with google or yahoo, you're probably too sophisticated for this book. Fox's target are people with very little education (He introduces us at one point to the fancy MBA word, "business plan"). Fox also uses the website he started for his wife and mother as case studies. I guess I should have known better. After all, it is called 'Internet Riches" and has a picture of some guy driving in a brand new convertible on the cover.

Customer Reviews:
Only for the newbie.......2007-10-22
Just finished the book last night hoping to find ideas that I could implement in my eBay sales. No real new info here. More geared for the eBay novice. If you have any experience buying or selling on eBay you already know 99% of the info provided in this book.
I found it odd that the author claims to have sold a 4 year old pair of very worn sneakers on eBay for $21 in the beginning of the book and then talks about it again later in the book but the sale price was $26.
Also, the author refers you to links to third party paid services which he owns.
Read this book is one sitting..........2007-10-09
What really stood out for me was the writing style of the book. It was conversational with great stories that were fun and interesting.
Along with great tips, this book is not written in the typical "textbook" format. I read the entire book in less than a day and would definitely encourage anyone to read it!
Simply a GREAT Book!.......2007-10-09
Not only was this book easy to read - the content helped me go from a new eBay seller to an advanced one. I went from 19 feedback to 175 feedback in 60 days using the techniques I learned.
I'd highly encourage anyone interested in learning more about eBay to read this book!
Great eBay book.......2007-06-14
a Gotta Have book if you are planning on starting an eBay business in your home in 30 days. Great reference for the experienced eBayer.
Garbage.......2007-06-08
This book is one big fat advertisement for Ebay and for Adam Ginsberg's other ventures. It had very little useful information, and NO information that cannot be found easily on-line or on Ebay itself. It was a waste of my time reading it. It was utterly repetitive and took forever to actually get to any sort of information or advice. There is hardly enough information in this book to fill a 10 page pamphlet...let alone a 300 page book!!! I'm just happy I got it from the library and didn't end up wasting my money as well as my time.
I wish there was actually a book out there to help people who are not complete ebay beginners. The biggest ebay woe is finding sources for products, and there is little help in this book....OH, unless you want to go to the website Adam plugs and buy more stuff from him. SURE, then he'll help you out. HA, RIGHT!

Great starter book.......2006-02-27
I will use this book as the go to information source in making my business grow. Love it.
Good book........2004-07-28
This book gives you a lot of great information that a lawn care operator would not think about when starting up a business. It takes a lot more than a push mower and a trimmer to make money in this business and this book lets you know what a professional in this occupation does. This is not a book that tells you how to cut grass, fertilize, ect. It deals with what it takes to run a lawn care business and it has a pricing list, checklists, etc. that helps you calculate your start up costs. Good book.
LESS THAN I EXPECTED.......2003-03-02
THE BOOK WAS VERY SHORT AND DID NOT EXPAND VERY MUCH IN A LOT OF IMPORTANT AREA'S...THIS COULD OF ALMOST BEEN A START UP BOOK FOR ANY TYPE OF SMALL SERVICE BUSINESS. I WAS VERY DISAPPOINTED IN THE FACT THAT SEVERAL OF THE ORGANIZATIONS LISTED WERE EITHER NO LONGER FUNCTIONING OR NEVER DID. THE CONTACT NUMBERS AND WEB ADDRESSES ARE ALL DEAD ENDS. THE BOOK DID HOWEVER HAVE GOOD POINTS ON OUTLINING THE START OF YOUR BUSINESS (HOWEVER GEARED FOR SOMEONE WITH A LOT OF MONEY TO START). I ALSO THINK THE BOOK BARELY TOUCHED UPON THE AREA'S OF HOW TO ATTAIN LICENSE'S AND PERMIT'S. OVERALL I WAS DISAPPOINTED BUT IT WAS NOT A TOTAL LOSS, I LEARNED A FEW THINGS THAT I WILL PROBABLY USE IN THE START UP OF MY BUSINESS.

Book is O.K........2007-06-11
This book was O.K. There were many ideas to choose from but only a few good ones. Plus, there isn't much information on each business. You could find more ideas and a lot more information for free on the Internet.
outdated.......2007-03-30
Book is now outdated. Is a good reference or starting point for the novice. Good introduction to where things have come from... Things have changed quite a bit since publication as they tend to do on the net.
101 Internet Businesses You Can Start from Home.......2005-10-12
Waste of Money...Don't buy this book its completly outdated and not a single business in 101 business listing is practical in today's life
More comprehensive than similar titles........2002-06-20
If you've ever dreamed of owning your own business but don't want to be tied down to a brick and mortar building, then this is the book for you. Starting an Internet business could not be easier with the help of the information provided. The book starts with interview information from three successful Internet businesses and then follows that with how to get your point across, the various formats for a storefront, required features of the successful storefront, payment options, and levels of e-business. From there it moves to helping determine what is important to you and how to use that to find the right business for you. From there it moves to the profiles of successful businesses. These profiles are complete with how to market the business, startup costs, skills needed, online examples, etc. It finally concludes with information on how to build your site, get it submitted to search engines, e-mail marketing, using links and pretty much just about everything that you need to know in order to get the business up and running.
Susan Sweeney, the owner of an international Internet firm, has produced a very thorough and easy to understand book. Probably the best book available today on starting an Internet business from scratch, it is a highly recommended read.

More properly titled: "How to make money selling a book with a title suggesting people can make money selling books with no effort"
BARE BONES INFO FOR A NEWBIE DOT.COM BOOKSELLER.......2007-01-25
SUZANNE PITNER HAS WRITTEN A BOOK THAT IS SOMEWHAT OVER PRICED AT $14.95, ESPECIALLY WHEN ADDING TO THAT THE COST OF SHIPPING. IN NO CHAPTER OR PARAGRAPH DOES SHE GO INTO MUCH DETAIL, ALTHOUGH THERE IS SUFFICIENT INFORMATION TO PUT THE WANNABE BOOKSELLER TO THINKING. ONE WOULD HAVE EXPECTED MORE GUIDANCE FROM A BOOK TITLED "YOUR GUIDE..."
I would not recommend this book.......2006-04-11
The book is ok, if you have extra money to spend and you want to read all there is. But, I can not recommend it for Amazon or other sellers like Half or ABE, because it is totally outdated. It was probally a good starting book in it's time, as it was written in 2002. There are some other books much better written and much more content. I would not waste my money. Sorry!
Fast & Easy Read - A Small Book.......2005-05-25

Customer Reviews:
It worked for me..........2001-01-29
I have the first edition that Kelly published for readers. I used it all of time...referring to things I had read and used them when asking question with those that I networked with. I have since purchased the newest edition to share with the new IC's that join our agency. We have been operating as a home office agency since 1998. Handling our own accounts and communication with suppliers. It take a little long to get noticed, but worth it in the long run. Good luck to all that read this book!
Good book but..........2000-07-16
The chapter on using EasySabre to get detailed airline fares and schedules online is out of date. EasySabre is now part of Travelocity (the online travel site) and no longer provides all of the great details mentioned in Kelly's book. This really is too bad, as it takes away one of the best tools there was for an independent agent. But I still recommend this book for anyone considering running a home-based travel agency - it can save a lot of time and effort in trying to find all of the "ins" and "outs" of this business on your own.
Excellent.......2000-04-28
This is a very informative, detailed, EASY to read book for anyone wanting to get into this business. I highly recommend anyone wanting to get into this business to read this book. I think she did a great job in writing it. It feels like you are interviewing the author herself and getting the answers to most questions you would have on your mind. The most informative book I have read in a long time!
No mistake, this book delivers what the title promises.......1999-12-03
Yes, it is true that the home-based travel agency is set up differenty than a store front agency. If you expect the two agencies to be the same, then you would be disappointed in this text. However, if your expectations are to get into the industry while working from home, then I think this book is the most valuable investment you can make. I was overwhelmed from my own research and almost gave up until I read this text. This book will offer you concrete facts and resources to use at each step (finding a host agency, selling, booking, promoting travel, and BEST of all, avoiding common beginner mistakes). Why suffer through the mayhem when you can learn from someone else's mistakes and try to avoid them. I highly recommend this author's text on agent opportunities also.
Very misleading title - don't waste your money.......1998-08-24
It is not possible to be a home-based travel agent. As explained in the book, the agencies through whom you have to work to make bookings and get your commissions for airlines require that you have an address that is in a commercial building zoned as such. The book gives you an out by suggesting you work for a travel agent or get one to give you a contract to be an extension of that agency. As a result you have to pay them a setup (or franchise fee) and then you have to split your commissions with them. This is not what I call a home-based travel agency business.

Many of us would love to jump on the home-based business bandwagon but we simply don't have the qualifications or experience to start a new enterprise from scratch. Popular self-employment authors Paul and Sarah Edwards recognized this predicament, and with Walter Zooi, they have assembled a comprehensive resource precisely for such hesitant entrepreneurs. Home Businesses You Can Buy thoroughly examines franchises, multilevel marketing, and other "prepackaged" business opportunities, and includes important advice on avoiding related scams.
Customer Reviews:
Great understanding and fullfillment of the readers needs.......2002-02-16
I searched a dozen books looking for my future business. I found this book gave me more than I expected from anyone. Help with evaluating myself, the many businesses, and how well they fit my skills and preferences was provided. The only need I found missing, I learned, was illegal for franchisers to say -what range of income is produced with these businesses. That information has to come from somewhere else.
Getting Off to The Right Start Means Avoiding Scams.......1999-11-30
I found this book incredibly helpful in getting me off on the right foot in my home-based business. The book clearly outlines the three major "pre-packaged" types businesses available (franchises, business opportunities and multi-level marketing). Then comes the good part. The authors provide a series of tests and checklists that can be applied to any business that you might consider buying. Tests to determine a business' chances for success, the honesty of the seller, the forthrightness of opportunity - and even a test you take yourself to find out if the business is a good match for your personality and skill level - follow each section. These tests, and the information they reveal, take much of the guesswork out making a decision as important as what kind of (and which kind of) business to buy. I highly recommend it. The Edwards', with Walter Zooi, have done it again!
