2 out of 5 stars FIne book, Easy read--.......2007-09-21

This book is ok. It's nothing really new that most people with some common sense don't already know....If you can get it in a library or borrow it, go that route. Not worth it.

5 out of 5 stars Brass Tactics.......2007-07-30

Excellent book! I have been taking classes online and this book has kept me interested in real estate. It gives you plenty of tips on how to gain the edge in real estate.

4 out of 5 stars Must have for new agents.......2007-06-14

If you are new to real estate, this is a must read... I still have mine 3 years later and although I haven't gone back to read it again - I won't get rid of it!

5 out of 5 stars Great for a new agent!.......2007-06-12

Not knowing what to expect as a brand new agent, I found this book to be a really excellent training resource. It was a great way to get a glimpse of what to do and not to do. I highly recommend it! Also, it's a very easy read.

Book Description

So you want to be a mortgage broker?

Or maybe you're not sure yet.

Let's imagine a little.

Imagine a world, where you are your own master:

You have the time to do whatever you wish.

You have the ability to live up to your true potential.

No limits, no barriers. No handicaps or favoritism or discrimination. Nothing can hold you back.

You can be as successful as you wish. Your income is only limited by your desire.

No menial labor required. You can work whenever you want, wherever you wish. No time clocks to punch or bosses to bother you.

You can have a respectable white-collar universe. Computers, paper, and air-conditioned offices are your domain. High finance is your game.

Your market is virtually unlimited. Everyone wants and needs your product: money. And they will do what it takes to get it.

But you don't need any money to get started, you have nothing to risk. The money belongs to someone else, and you make money by helping them distribute it.

No formal education is required. Just be yourself, and through honesty and integrity you can succeed.

This is the world of the mortgage broker. And a world you can join, if you have what it takes to make a decision.

The trails are already worn. No new territory here. Thousands of successful brokers have walked this way before. And all you have to do is follow their path. No guesswork. No risk.

This is not a new opportunity. It has been around since there was money. And it will continue to be around as long as man walks the earth. The only question is, will you be a part of it?

What is it you desire out of life?
· More money?
· Financial security?
· A good future for your family?
· A chance to help others?
· Freedom?

All these can be yours, easily. If thousands of regular, everyday people can do it, so can you.

Mortgage brokerage is one of the last few remaining businesses, in which you are judged by your output, and not who you know, or where you went to school. It doesn't matter if you went to school at all. It might actually be better if you didn't.

Your income is unlimited. You alone determine your success. No external factors can stop you.

If you ever thought you could do great things, this is the opportunity to show what you can really do.

You don't need any money to get started. You don't even need a computer. All you need is the belief that you can succeed, and the desire to do so.

You can provide a much needed service. Imagine how it feels to get a hug from a man and a woman, who just bought their first house- a dream of there's for years, and one which they know was made possible only because you were there to help them.

That is the life of a mortgage broker. And our company will fill you in on all the details of this life: both the good and the bad.

First let me explain why I am writing this letter: My company, Kamrock Publishing has a website. This is our main site for mortgage professionals. We have several training and marketing resources available at this site.

But what we didn't have was a way to help people get into the mortgage business. And everyday we would get multiple emails from people wanting to know how to get a license, where do they start, how do they find a company to work for, etc.

And after a while, we got tired of answering these emails, so we put together the only book available that shows people how to get into the business. It's called,

So You Want To Be A Mortgage Broker?

If you have any questions about what to do to become a mortgage broker, or if you want a behind the scenes look at the world of mortgage brokerage this book will be invaluable to you.

In it, we cover all the questions we were asked repeatedly including several that people need to know but did not know to ask.

Some of the questions answered are:

· What does a broker do?
· How does a broker make money?
· W

1 out of 5 stars ..........2007-07-16

Save yourself time and money - run a Google search to get info on the subject. This book is worthless, the author mainly advertises their websites.

1 out of 5 stars Very Disappointed.......2007-03-15

This book was extremely BASIC. Hardly any useful information at all. If you have ever taken out a mortgage, you already know most of this. It was almost a total waste of money. The main focus of this book is to sell you a much more expensive program(s).

5 out of 5 stars Going to enter the mortgage business.......2007-01-25

I loved this book.
For someone who knows very little about the industry and wants to get into it, this book is a great place to start.

The last review said that this information can be found on the internet. Maybe it is, BUT I doubt it. Anyway, I am not willing to waste countless hours and search through hundreds of websites to try to find it. Especially when the book is so cheap.

I really liked the section on what a typical day is like for a loan officer. But the best part, and something no one I talked to in the mortgage business was willing to talk about, was the section of how loan officers get paid. The author explains the frontend and the backend and how a loan officer can manipulate the numbers to make the client think they are getting a deal, but the loan officer is still making his money too.

If you are thinking about getting into the mortgage business, like I am, this book is a great place to start. Once you understand all the concepts in it, you will know what to talk about to propestive employers, and what questions to ask. Otherwise you are just going in blind.

Just the tips on getting a higher commission will pay for the book several times over.

Good Luck, God Bless.

1 out of 5 stars Not worth the money or time..........2007-01-23

This book is definitely not worth the money or time.

The primary reason why you should NOT buy this book is that you can get the information that is found in this book (and MUCH more) by inquiring on any major search engine. It doesn't take a genius to figure out that there are only a FEW professions which have only ups and no downs. Being a loan officer or mortgage broker is not one of them. Almost all other information contained in this book is freely distributed on the net and I see no reason to spend my money to read something that I could read for free.

The second reason you should not buy this book, is the amount of unprofessionalism with which the book was written, that was unnecessary on Ameen's part and COULD be avoided if he chose to. But he chose not to. I've read quite a few books on many topics, including the mortgage industry, and I've never come across an author who had come even close to surpassing Ameen's ability to fill their book with as much promotion of their other products, as possible, to the point where the book could be considered to be only half book and half advertisement.

If that's what you're looking for, then buy this book.

4 out of 5 stars So you Want to Be a Mortgage Broker.......2007-01-17

5 out of 5 stars One of The Best.......2007-10-11

I have been full time in the real estate business since 1956. This, without a doubt, is one of the best books ever written, concerning real estate. It is not only good for the new person entering real estate, or thinking about entering, it is also excellent for those that have been practicing for a good number of years. I purchased a book for each of my agents and we reviewed it page by page in subsequent Staff Meetings.

In addition I have purchased several to give away to potential agents. I want them to know what is required to be successful in this business.

4 out of 5 stars Great primer for anyone going into the business.......2007-09-13

Wanting to get started in Real Estate, hate the idea of cold calling!!!

This is a soup to nuts primer on how to get started and keep going. Well worth the $$ and time invested!!!

5 out of 5 stars Best beginner real estate book written.......2007-05-20

As a broker, I'm always looking for new material for training my agents. This is the BEST book I've found for new real estate agents in the industry. Being a realtor is not easy, this book helps answer a lot of the questions that a new agent has. I would recommend reading this book BEFORE you decide to become an agent as it may help you with that decision. I would also recommend to read for anyone that is just startig or perhaps has been in a while but not quite making the amount of money or sales that they are happy with.

1 out of 5 stars A waste of money.......2007-04-15

I thought this book was a waste of money. It was too simple, suggestions were not worth paying for. I sold it on ebay. It wasn't worth returning it to Amazon, and losing money because of the shipping.

4 out of 5 stars A good beginning start.......2007-01-28

This is a good beginning start for a 'new' real estate agent. It provides a stepping stone of information and gives perspectives of what you could do in the beginning of your career. Be mindful that you are working for commission and customers is your number one goal. Having customers, being able to network and create leads are three primary necessities. Please note the strategies here are not at all canon. In other words, you need to re-adjust strategies based on your location and your situation. For instance, in one part of the book, it tells you to go with a large brokerage to get your feet wet, but that may not help if you're looking for a mentor, as many large brokerages, especially commercial ones, do not have the time nor are they interested in raising another competitor.

Overall the book is solid, in that it provides a stepping stone.

This book focuses on a no-nonsense approach to the home inspection business without spending a lot of money on unnecessary equipment, training, or a lifetime of franchise fees.

    Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Brilliant and Effective System.......2003-08-28

I have read almost every book available on starting and operating a home inspection business, and this one simply blows the others away. After reading and studying this one, I wish I had not purchased the others because every detail on what to do, what to write, and even what to say to customers during an inspection is in there. Michael Pompeii shows an ingeniously simple system of starting and operating a home inspection business, inspecting a house, and reporting the results so that just about anyone could do it. I tried it, and it works. My first customer was delighted with my "very professional" inspection. The best part is that I did not have to spend hundreds of dollars on other tapes and courses. I can't thank Michael Pompeii enough for the help and the confidence that his book has given me. This is by far the best book out there for anyone who is serious about becoming a home inspector.

5 out of 5 stars Worth Every Penny.......2002-03-02

At first I was a little apprehensive in spending this kind of money for a book, but I'm sure glad I did. It's like you are buying a home inspection franchise manual, except you are not paying ten or twenty thousand for a franchise. For me, this book is worth every penny.

3 out of 5 stars Good but way overpriced.......2002-02-23

This book has some good information on how to start a Home Inspection business but it is really overpriced. Most of the valuable information is how to run the business but if your looking for how to become at trained home inspector you won't find it here. ... Wow that's pricey. In addition the author spends a good portion of the book on how to use their copyrighted home inspection reports which must be purchased separtley to for your use. If your not interested in using those reports these sections of the book are not very useful.

3 out of 5 stars A solid basic introduction to the business.......2001-12-01

If you are interested in becoming a home inspector, this book is a great place to start. It will give you the nuts and bolts about the profession as well as the tools and marketing skills required. The author lays it out in a very simple and easy to read format. I emphasize this is a great place to start, you will need to go elsewhere to find the technical knowledge and information you need to do a professional home inspection, and the author does provide a helpful list of resources at the back of the book. It is a bit expensive but information like this is hard to come by and you can save yourself a bundle of cash in the long run by heeding his advice. I would highly recommend this book to anyone looking to get into the home inspection field.

5 out of 5 stars Just What I Was Looking For.......2001-11-18

The many actual samples from home inspection reports and the constant emphasis on how to inspect and report while avoiding legal hassles is just what I was looking for. Even though I know a lot about houses, I didn't know how to do a home inspection or what was supposed to be in a home inspection report, but I do now. I highly recommend this book.

2 out of 5 stars Disappointing - lacks photos and specifics.......2007-10-20

Book only has 8 poorly reproduced photos. One picture of bedroom shows bed in terrible position, showing author's lack of design training. Text is printed in light grey making it hard to read. Concepts are ok but very general as author clearly wants you to spend in excess of $2000-5000 for a seminar, then buy everything else extra, and pay her annual fees to retain access. Lots of misrepresentations with such words as "university, accredited" when referring to her website. Webster's defines "university" as an institution with a board of directors, multiple "schools" or "colleges" headed by multiple highly trained professors. The author's website doesn't come close to measuring up to the standard use of the term "university". Hollow professional designation (and misuse of the term "accredited") when all it takes is payment of a few thousand $$ and attendance at a seminar with no proof of understanding, much less talent on the back end. Obvious propaganda for expensive seminar. Filled with over claims, lots of redundancy.

      5 out of 5 stars Great Reading.......2007-08-11

I was trully inspired by this book to start thinking of ways to create my own business. Great book.

2 out of 5 stars Less than expected...........2007-07-09

I waited with excitement for this book. Unfortunately I am so disappointed, the book is so self-promoting. I skipped much of the content searching for something, rich, creative and new - it just isn't there.

3 out of 5 stars Needs more content.......2007-06-28

I want to start the review by disclosing that I am an Accredited Staging Professional trained by Barb Schwarz's company Staged Homes.

I can sum up the book by dividing it into three parts.

The book is about 1/3 self promotion about Barb Schwarz and taking her classes. Even though I have taken her class, I know other excellent home stagers that have taken other classes or some that have not taken training classes at all.

About 1/3 of the book is about starting a business. This is a critical part of success. I think other more indepth books on starting a business and marketing it would give you more detailed information.

The other 1/3 is helpful home staging industry specific tips. Most of them are common sense. If you do not know you need to form relationships with real estate agents - this is not a business for you. I think the sample documents in the back of the book are helpful for a new home stager.

So, Yes parts of this book are helpful but it is not the only resource you need.

      2 out of 5 stars Disappointing.......2007-06-02

Although there are some good tips that the average person may not consider, I found this book to be more of a membership drive for the author's "professional designation". We are told over and over again that the home staging concept was the author's original idea, almost every page she reminds us of this. She even goes so far as to claim the invention of the professional portfolio by renaming it a "career book". She also lays claim to the invention of several phrases she uses, commonly used phrases like "let me tell you how I work". It's too bad that she did not spend as much time focusing on her readers than she did on tooting her own horn. It also makes one wonder how valid any "designation" is when all it takes is a 3 day course and the author's blessing to earn her coveted "ASP" designation. Who regulates this field? If there is no regulatory body, it's just tacking some initials after one's name to sound important. For those unfortunate enough to buy into it, they get a worthless designation, but I'm sure the author is profiting well!

2 out of 5 stars Success as a Real Estate Agent for Dummies.......2007-09-19

This book does have some usful tips. However, the author is obviously a career salesman. He appears to have grown his career from real estate sales to selling his own products ( seminars, web sites, and sales coaching). He equates financial success by selling, to being a quality agent. His focus seems to be on the typical salesperson's perspective ie. ABC (always be closing), not matching the client to the property they want, like and can aford.

5 out of 5 stars Success as a Real Estate Agent For Dummies .......2007-08-06

This is a very comprehensive book for beginners and experienced realtors. It seems to be losely based on the teachings of Mike Ferry by an experienced agent who actually did what he writes. I highly recommend it with one reservation: much of it is very similar to the book The Champion Real Estate Agent written by the same author. If you buy one of the books you don't really need to buy both.

New or 'aged' agents will get many valuable tips from this book. It is just packed with useful information that a successfull real estate agent (Dirk) has learned over the years. Don't make the same mistakes. Learn from his experience and be a top producer.

5 out of 5 stars Fundamentals of Real Estate 101.......2007-07-16

This book is a must read for anyone considering a career in Real Estate as well as a refresher for experienced agents trying to get their business back on track. Dirk Zeller manages to distill a vast amount of experience down into a basic plan for success. (No magic bullets are promised: It involves honest work, but this book will help you manage your time better and allow you to concentrate on revenue producing activities.) For me personally, my biggest problems as an agent have been time management and spending too much time on non-revenue producing activities. These two areas of the book are worth the price alone. Highly recommended!

5 out of 5 stars A Broad Overview and Practical Tips.......2007-08-31

This book is great. It gave me a broad overview of the mortgage industry and practical tips to get started as a mortgage broker. This book covers everything from are you the right person for this industry?, how to interpret financial indicators?, how to put all the success-proof components (knowledge, marketing, and technology) in motion?, what types of loans are available?, how to open your own shop when you are ready?, to even how to strike a work life balance? This is an easy read and I highly recommend it to anyone who might be interested in getting started in the mortgage industry.

Thanks Dan for writing such a valuable book.

I've read several Mortgage Broker books in preparation of starting my own Mortgage Broker firm. I can sincerely state that this is the most concise and informative Mortgage Broker book I've read. Daniel not only breaks the Mortgage Industry down into layman terms, but he also provides his readers access to his personal business web site.

      GREAT JOB DAN!!

5 out of 5 stars Real estate sales person recommends this book!.......2007-08-05

As a real estate sales professional for almost twenty years, I know how important it is to work with a competent mortgage broker. Dan Kahn gives great insight into what it takes to become a success in the mortgage business - he lays it out from just getting started to getting ahead. This book is also a valuable reference tool for home buyers since it explains the mortgage process and its lingo. I found it an easy read and a book to keep for future reference.

      5 out of 5 stars Insightful Read.......2007-06-27

I am not much of a reader at all, but this book is clear and to the point. If you are new to the mortgage industry this book will give you a good base of knowledge to get you started. It will not teach you all of the ins and outs, but will introduce you to terms and ideas essential for understanding what the heck you are talking about to clients. Some of the contents are a little more than the beginner needs to know, but you can easily bypass those parts. Overall a good book!

      5 out of 5 stars Great Book!.......2007-04-12

Well researched. Content decently put together. Makes you want to just keep reading. Great job author! Serves as good reference material too. Good for keeps.

OK - I read lots of books on this subject and of this type - but this one covers about 90% of what you'll need to know and it does so in a very straight forward, no nonsense, and very complete way. It does not read like a text book and yet it IS the text book for this subject. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to excell in Real Estate
