5 Stars Excellent .......2007-07-01
If you want to get stronger for any throwing aspect of baseball. Outfield infield and especially pitching, I highly suggest you purchase this manual. I was amazed with this manual when I purchased it. There are so many different exercises that you can do and most important it comes with complete workout logs. I can't tell you how many times I've seen a good workout on the Internet but never put it to a good use. This is not just a workout book it's a total program.
Each Phase of your training comes with days of logs. It works you into the different strength exercises so you'll never have a problem with doing one of the many many workouts in this book. Each day is set out for you. You know exactly what you have to do. If you have any kind of will power to become a stronger and better athlete, one that will make it to college and professional level, you will have no problem using this guide. There is no planning or brainstorming of activities to do. Everything's right there for you just do the included warm-up exercises and start your PRE-PLANNED routine.
This is such a great program that I strongly suggest for any serious baseball athlete.
For the serious pitcher only.......2007-05-16
This is an excellent book to have if you don't have access to those expensive ex-pro coaches or baseball clinics.

I found the manual to be very well laid out.The pictures and explanations
for each of the drills were easy to understand.I have been using the program in our winter gym sessions and the players not only show improvment but are having fun doing the drills. I would highly recommend this manual to others

Here's a way to improve in the off-season. .......2007-01-19
Two words: BROADER SHOULDERS. For those who want to pitch at a professional level or just want to get into better shape for the next season, this guide provides hundreds of photos and descriptions of exercises and stretches to help get you there. After two months of TUFFCUFF workouts three days a week, my 11th grade nephew has added 5 pounds of muscle and is throwing the ball harder and farther. We live in a cold weather area, so he has to skip some of the recommended exercises, such as two-handed throwing of a medicine ball inside a gym. But most exercises can be done with a treadmill, dumbells, and a small indoor workout space.
The guide is probably even more helpful for college level players who have more time to focus on workouts and have access to better equipment and facilities. It also contains a variety of graphs and guidelines for players to chart their progress as well as a recommended diet. This guide proves getting to the next level requires work, not steroids.

Philip Miller and Molly Devon think that S/M is fun, and "that reading about it should be fun, too." Screw the Roses, Send Me the Thorns is definitely fun, not to mention approachable, chatty, and insightful. What makes it truly special, however, is the sheer weight of loving details. There's clear explanations and detailed tutorials for beginners, as general as "safe, sane, and consensual" and as specific as "you will be swinging the whip with your arm pivoting at the shoulder." There's also solid advice, safety measures, steamy suggestions, plenty of black-and-white photographs, useful and humorous drawings, an extensive glossary, and over 900 entries of S/M clothing and equipment vendors, publications, computer bulletin boards, and organizations worldwide. As sadomasochism is a practice that's still taboo for many people, the chapter on finding partners and sharing your fantasies with existing partners can be invaluable.
Screw the Roses enthusiastically covers all the basics and even some of the not-so-basics--bondage, negotiation, sex, endorphins, dominance and submission, toys, safety, S/M community, and beyond. It's written primarily from the point of view of male dominant/female submissive interactions, but it's easily translatable into valuable advice for any relationship configuration. Miller and Devon's explanations of not just the how, but also the why, of sadomasochism are honest, sexy, funny--and a must-have for anyone who wants to learn about sadism, masochism, dominance, submission, or bondage. --Cheryl Trooskin

You are not weird, and you are not alone.......2007-10-22
Well-written, in spite of numerous typos. The authors convey a lot of solid info, often using humor and personal experience. They advocate and encourage SSC and RESPECTFUL play. Although written with a male Dominant/female submissive approach, it is equally applicable to any other combination. And no, this concept is not at all degrading to women. It does, in fact, inspire appreciation, consideration, and respect (there it is again) of those in a submissive role. Excellent reading whatever role you take. If you have not read it, I recommend you send your sub out for a copy soon. She does not have to feel embarrassed, unless she wants to.
Quirky, funny how-to book.......2007-09-08
Thank goodness this book was written! The style is quirky and funny, the subject Submission and Domination. Written by a loving couple with loving couples in mind, it does touch (sometimes roughly!) on game play, the joy of surrender and yearning, the 'chess game' mental anticipation of s/m. It ain't all leather and lace, it is a lifestyle choice. the authors cover the safe use of ropes, toys, restraints and pain as a form of sexual sport s/m rarely gets. Good s/m takes HOURS and this book describes the process and results with good cheer and truthfull expertise. The photos are informational and often passionless, but some will open many eyes and conversations.
Informitive.......2007-08-18
This book was recomended to me over and over. It is a very good reference.
Screw the Roses book.......2007-08-14
This is a very good book with great ideas, and suggestions for those of us that are starting to swim in deeper water. I have read other books on the subject, and this one surpasses all of them. The ideas are presented from both the male, and female side. I truly recommend this book.
Great introduction to the world of D/s and BDSM.......2007-08-14
A good overall guide to the alternative lifestyle. Miller & Devon especially do a great job of familiarizing the reader with the various interests within the community as well as introducing the full gamut of variations available to D/s and BDSM enthusiasts, and they provide a clear and non-threatening exposition of the "safe, sane and consensual" approach to erotic sensation play and D/s relationships. Bravo!

Considered the best mystery novel ever written by many readers, And Then There Were None is the story of 10 strangers, each lured to Indian Island by a mysterious host. Once his guests have arrived, the host accuses each person of murder. Unable to leave the island, the guests begin to share their darkest secrets--until they begin to die.
Book Description
And Then There Were None is the signature novel of Agatha Christie, the most popular work of the world's bestselling novelist. It is a masterpiece of mystery and suspense that has been a fixture in popular literature since it was originally published in 1939. First there were ten-a curious assortment of strangers summoned to a private island off the coast of Devon. Their host, an eccentric millionaire unknown to any of them, is nowhere to be found. The ten guests have precious little in common except that each has a deadly secret buried deep in their own past. And, unknown to them, each has been marked for murder. Alone on the island and trapped by foul weather, one by one the guests begin to fall prey to the hidden murderer among them. With themselves as the only suspects, only the dead are above suspicion.

Good quick read.......2007-10-06
A very simple and easy read, but still suspenseful. Its interesting to see how the little indian poem will come to life killing off each character. A good twist at the end.
Very Suspenseful!.......2007-09-27
This story by Agatha Christie is very, very suspenseful. It is also creepy. It does not have a detective, which seemed strange at first, because I am used to following Poirot and Miss Marple as they solve the crimes. I did not really like any of the characters but I was still surprised when each one was killed. When one of the murders took place, pretty much any one of the survivors could have been the killer. Also, you get to read what each of the characters are thinking; the story is not just from one character's viewpoint. Is the killer one of the ten guests on the island, or is there a hidden person? The ending really got me. Of course, you finally end up with only two characters and one of them turns out to be the killer, but he doesn't stop there! You'll have to read the story yourself to find out what happens at the very end. (this review is by M.Charette)
Her Best, And The Finest Whodunit I've Read.......2007-09-24
I don't see how anyone who relishes a quality 'whodunit' could fail to love this book (even though a few Amazon reviews below show that it is the case). I am familiar with quite a number of Agatha Christies (including classics like Roger Ackroyd & Orient Express, etc.), and this one clearly takes the prize. Everything about it is delicious: the inescapable island setting, the strange circumstances, the unfolding pattern, and the overall feeling of a growing and inevitable horror. Most excellent of all is the plot, which is brilliantly conceived and executed. And at the end of the day, the author has played fair (I'll make one complaint below). What more do you want?!
There are only two (mostly minor) criticisms I would make. IMO, the first keeps this story from being the perfect murder mystery. Namely, there is an early scene in which the killer THINKS a deceptive thought (I won't type it here and ruin the story for any prospective reader), and the reader reads it. This is an unfair slip on Agatha's part. Sure enough the murderer might indeed SPEAK such a deceptive sentence, but to have him/her THINK it silently (and then have the reader simply read it at face value) -- I felt this was stretching credibility too far. For a perfectionist like me, it is a pity that it's in the text, and if only it could be excised! Secondly (and AC probably had no control over this), I prefer the British title of the book - Ten Little Indians - over the American and more popular one, which sort of anticipates and gives away too much (albeit subtly). Admittedly not a huge issue, just a quibble.
At any rate, mystery lovers you're in for a treat. Enjoy and savor the Grand Dame at her finest!
Simply Brilliant, Brilliantly Complicated.......2007-08-12
And Then There Were None, the brilliant masterwork by the much imitated Agatha Christie is a complicated yet accessible murder mystery. Ten guests arrive at an island, each with a different secret, and each uniquely mysterious. When all the guests have gathered, a mysterious voice, U.N. Owen??? indicts each for a crime. The bloodletting follows. Good luck solving this mystery. The Denouement is nothing short of brilliant.
Required reading for Mystery fans. A 5 star classic!
fun read.......2007-08-03
I read this after playing the PC game so the end was blown for me but still a fun story, I would recommend reading this book and then playing the game. (don't think the game ends the same way the book does)

Lives at Risk identifies 20 myths about health care as delivered in countries that have national health insurance. These myths have gained the status of fact in both the United States and abroad, even though the evidence shows a far different reality. The authors also explore the political and economic climate of the health care system and offer alternatives to the current health care public policies.

A humbling read........2007-10-21
I spent a few months reading various writings on health care systems and trying to clean up the trash heap that is all Wikipedia articles on the topic. I thought I had a good grip on what was going on around the world. I was wrong.
Lives at Risk presents a crystal clear picture of the health care industry in the US, UK, and Canada. It exposes the economic and political factors that have caused decreasing performance and increasing costs in all three countries. Finally, Lives at Risk makes a recommendation for a way to do things better.
This book lays it all out in short, easy chapters supported by copious references for those who want to know more.
Idael Health Care vs. Universal Health Care.......2007-08-11
I learn that Ideal Health Care might be more effective than Univerisal Health Care. In addition, Manage Care & Single Payer Care have too many pit falls.
Health Care .......2007-05-22
Goodman and associates provide a valuable alternative look inside the single-payer, national, universal access health systems of Europe and Canada. This book is long overdue.
I teach a college class in comparative health systems that contrasts the U.S. health system with those of other nations and I use this book as an alternative text. I warn students that it is a polemic; Goodman is on a mission. But since the great mass of academic texts are written by professors in love with Europe and in contempt of the U.S. failure to insure 43 million citizens, this book is a welcome splash of cold water in the face.
The problem is that neither Europe nor the U.S. have solved moral hazard. As long as government, or our tax-subsidized employer, is pre-paying our healthcare, and we can leave your wallet at home and demand all the tests and treatments we are allowed, we are in trouble. It is a big Las Vegas buffet and we are all high-rollers pigging out and over-eating because the tab is on the house.
The result will be disaster in Europe as the aging population increases its demands on a limited supply of younger workers. The disaster in the U.S., with Social Security and Medicare/Medicaid already on track to consume the entire federal budget, is well publicized.
Goodman solution is a revamped Health Savings Account (HSAs) that make each of us responsible.
Whether agree that HSAs are the answer, or prefer some other approach, read this book. Racing to establish universal entitlement is a recipe for univeral disaster.
too much rethoric about free market.......2006-03-03
this is very interesting book providing a huge amount of useful data about different health systems in the world, although the presentation is scattered, irregular and according to the Authors` design, more than to a planned and rational description. Their interpretation of the data provided is not always acceptable. They use the old tactic of attributing something false to the enemy to attack it. They create a "myth" about national health sysems whcih nobody ever stated or believed and they used it to show the weakness of NHS. After completing the book I was even more convinced of the benefit of health systems such as those existing in Europe and in canada compared to the US. Their critique by the Authors might indeed be useful in spotting their limitations ( obody says they are perfect) and correcting them
How Sould Health Care Be Funded And Distributed?.......2005-06-03
Is it the mess we have now, single-payer or something else? Health care and health insurance are not delivered effectively to all Americans in the framework of the free enterprise system. I am a big believer in the markets and the free enterprise system for most services and most products. However, health care and health insurance do not fit for many reasons in free markets. There must be a better way to be care for the health of our people.
Health Insurance Companies cherry pick the most healthy people to insure and try to avoid all persons who do not fit into the category of most healty. Therefore, the folks that need health care the most in order to function properly in our free markets have the most difficult time obtaining health insurance.
Book Description
The first comprehensive wedding guide specifically for the Jewish/Christian couple who wants to honor both religious traditions in their service, vows, and readings.Saying "I do" is one of the happiest moments in a couple's life together--but planning that trip to the altar can be a stressful ordeal. The minute an engagement is announced two full clans want to celebrate the union their way! When one of those families is Jewish (50 percent of whom now marry outside their faith) and the other is Christian, the religious details can increase the pressure on the bride- and groom-to-be. Celebrating Interfaith Marriages provides all of the expert advice on how to combine elements of the two faiths so everyone can rejoice with the bride and groom on their wedding day.Devon Lerner draws from her twenty years of officiating interfaith weddings as she discusses the significance of vows and traditions unique to both faiths and suggests how to incorporate them into a service that is balanced and beautiful. She provides Christian and Jewish services readers can mix and match, as well as custom-bled ceremonies contributed by couples who have worked with her over the years. There's a chapter on how to avoid crashes on issues like location, when the ceremony takes place, and whether the bride and groom should see each other before meeting at the altar. A full section of readings, both biblical and secular, are here too, as well as anecdotes that will reassure and amuse. No interfaith couple will want to be without this essential handbook when they plan their special day.

A great resource.......2007-04-26
This book was great at providing structure and helping us understand our options when we wrote our own wedding ceremony (a Jew marrying a Catholic, with sensitivity to the pagans and atheists/agnostics attending). We lent our copy to two couples we know who got married after us (a nonpracticing Jew marrying a nonpracticing Christian; and a Jew marrying a Catholic/Quaker). I know that each of them has passed on the favor to at least one other couple, who also used it in their ceremonies. Anyone writing their own ceremony would get some value out of it, whether interfaith or not, though of course it is most specifically targeted to the Jewish/Christian union. We also supplemented with books specific to each of the religions we wanted to include, but I found this this book to be the best "how-to" of them all.
Great book for writing your own ceremony.......2006-11-10
My fiancee and I were planning an interfaith ceremony, and rather than find a rabbi or priest willing to marry us, we decided to have our non-denominationally ordained Aunt officiate. However, because she wasn't familiar with jewish traditions, we had to write our own ceremony - no easy task! But, this book simplifies the process by including many examples of interfaith marriage, and then a choice of readings and passages for each section of the wedding. My one concern would be that it only addresses interfaith marriages between jews and christians, but does not address interfaith ceremonies between jews, christians, hindus, buddhists, muslims, etc. However, that aside, I HIGHLY recommend this book if you are writing your own ceremony.
A terrific resource - made my life so much easier! And a beautiful wedding........2006-08-23
I was asked to officiate for my brother (who grew up Jewish) and his fiance (who grew up Protestant), as neither of them are religious, but wanted to have a wedding that both families would feel comfortable with. After getting ordained online, I had a huge challenge ahead of me - how to do something beautiful, personal, and would make everyone happy. Well, this book did it for me! It's about 1/3 explanations on wedding ceremonies and things to be aware of that could be sensitive to either side, 1/3 sample ceremonies, and 1/3 a whole bunch of suggested pieces/readings/explanations under each ceremony component - 7 ideas you could use here, 4 ideas here... It made creating their ceremony a breeze, eliminating many of the expected arguments/discussions, and led to a beautiful ceremony. Thanks Rabbi Lerner!!!
Great resource!.......2005-12-30
I am a Catholic woman marrying a Jewish man. We were very fortunate that my priest was supportive of our marriage and provided me with the standard Catholic booklet outlining the typical components of a Catholic wedding. But we were being married outside of the traditional mass and wanted to include my fiancé's Jewish heritage as well. The rabbi we were working with suggested this book. It is a great tool to help in the planning process. Rabbi Lerner provides an explanation of various traditions, gives a few sample outlines and then includes an appendix with various wording for each part of the ceremony. I could not have planned the Jewish half of our ceremony without this book!
Making Interfaith Marriage Ceremony Inclusive.......2005-09-01
This was a very helpful book with information about laws and culture that help make the ceremony inclusive and comfortable for families of different faiths. I highly recommend this book; I bought it for our children who will be getting married in the spring.

First story good - well written, belivable - very erotic
Second story - so-so. Quick end to story - like the author looks at computer and realizes time to wrap up
Third story - dumb. And I prefer not to read about threesomes. Would not have purchased book.

FEVER by Kimberly Dean
Delia Jenkins has only been working for Lloyd Security Systems for two months. Catching a bug that gives her a skyrocketing fever is a huge inconvenience. She tries to work but Rob convinces her that she'd recuperate better if she went home and took care of herself. On the way out of the office she practically stumbles into her boss, Jackson Lloyd. He is none too pleased to see her in Rob's care.
Rob promises to stop by Delia's apartment to check on her later so she's not surprised when she's awakened by the arousing voice and caress of a man whom she's sure will be able to help douse the incredible heat that has her practically delirious. Will she come to regret anything she experiences during this night of incredible heat?
Kimberly Dean does an incredible job creating a scenario where having a raging fever is unbelievably sexy. While being so ill and having a brain cell frying fever is no laughing matter, Delia's lack of inhibitions which is caused by the fever is downright funny. There's no shortage of suggestive ways to cool down a heated body in this smoldering tale but I can guarantee it'll raise your body temperature a notch or two.
PERFECTION by Summer Devon
Bryan thought nothing of agreeing to be a lab rat in exchange for an extraordinary amount of money, until the experiment went very wrong. The experiment had unexpected results and suddenly he's irresistible to women. Now he's running from the throngs of women who desire him and the goons who are determined to learn the secret to the essence he exudes... it could be worth millions.
While on the run, Bryan meets Allie, a late night waitress at a diner. He's immediately attracted to her but fears any attraction she feels for him may be a direct result of his the experiment. The goons who are after Bryan decide that they'd like Allie to visit their facilitiles for some testing. This is something that Bryan has no intention of allowing. Somewhere out there is the perfect woman and having sex with her will cure him of this affliction. Can Allie possibly be the cure to what ails him?
Summer Devon turns the male fantasy of being irresistible to women into a nightmare in this little gem of a story. I could just visualize this poor guy being mobbed by women and his fear that Allie will do the same thing. I loved the way Allie and Bryan form a bond and vow to help each other. Among such chaos their relationship is gentle and sweet and of course, very hot!
TAMING HIM by Michelle M. Pillow
When Maggie Stewart's car dies on a deserted road she tries to convince herself that there is no such thing as alien abductions. Unfortunately the flying saucer and the gorgeous alien who emerges from it appear to be very real. As he approaches the car Maggie tries to lock the doors but the locks refuse to stay down. He finally opens the door and she screams to no avail. The alien touches her and instead of fear, she's filled with longing and hope.
Vladei has waited a long time to find his companion. He wants badly to have someone in his quarters to return home to each night. He believes that the gods sent him to her... all she has to do is tame the dragon in order for her to become his wife.
Michelle M. Pillow tells a thoroughly exciting tale in TAMING HIM. Readers will easily be able to understand the emotional plight that both characters are going through during this story. If you're curious about what it means to tame the dragon, well I suggest you read this story. You'll get a kick out of the significance of that particular statement, I know I sure did.
Kimberly Dean, Summer Devon and Michelle M. Pillow will have your senses rioting with the three thrilling tales in their anthology TAMING HIM. Each story is extremely different and packed with raw emotions and exciting situations. The men are unforgettably hot and you can't help but adore the women who are bold enough to claim them. Every story is a delight to read and will have readers searching for more books by each of these authors. All three of these stories have been previously released as e-books though Ellora's Cave.

three delightful erotic romances .......2006-12-29
"Fever" by Kimberly Dean. Delia Jenkins is very ill with a high fever, but comes to work at Lloyd Security Systems because she has only been there two months and fears losing her job as she has a project budget due today; she adheres to "presentism" instead of absenteeism. Her peer Robbie informs the boss Jackson Lloyd that he is taking her to bed. Not long afterward, a drugged ailing Delia is awakened by a compassionate touch. As she feels better she sees her hero nearby nursing her though she wants him to provide her a different type of 104 degrees fever.
"Perfection" by Summer Devon. Metcher Corporation's experiment with pheromones made Bryan Hartigan irresistible to women, which proves a curse as he can go nowhere without a woman chasing his body; stalkers are the norm. He only recently learned from Dr. Nathan that his only escape is to find Ms. Perfect. However as he seeks her he also has to elude women and an apparent group that want to steal his essence even if it means killing him to do so. At a restaurant he meets Allie the waitress, who is turned on to him, but for the first time in months he is turned on too.
"Taming Him" by Michelle M. Pillow. Maggie Stewart is driving by herself when she sees an alien spaceship lands nearby. She thinks of fleeing before she becomes an alien abduction statistic, but then she sees the hunk Vladei. He kidnaps her, but on his vessel he treats her like no human ever has before. Instead of a prisoner or a slave, she is a queen given regal pleasure by her king.
These three erotic romances contain delightful storyline, hot hunks, and fully developed (not just their boobs) females who keep each tale focused. Sub-genre fans will enjoy these "everyday" sirens teasing, tantalizing, and taming their testosterone men.

OK, but sloppy.......2003-03-25
Having previously read Wrox's Professional ASP Programming, I tried this book, hoping for something of equal merit.
This volume is has some decent material, but is marred by a tendecy to sloppiness.
Firstly, as other reviewers have noted, there are too many authors (count 'em - 16!), which is unnecessary, and leads to inconsistencies in presentation. The book could quite easily have been authored by a single writer. There are only a few chapters that required specialist knowledge.
For example, the early chapters are quite good at advising the reader on PHP settings. Since there's no option explicit in PHP,the author correctly advises the reader to increase their error setting to report unused variables. Later, however, much of the code uses uninitialised variables. This is particularly the case in the chapter on form handling, the approach to which is too crude, and uses form variables directly in code, whereas a better approach would be to capture them and process them using isset(). The isset() function isn't even covered in this chapter, but is used correctly in other chapters.
Secondly, while the converstational tone of Wrox books is often appealing, it can also be a problem at times. The presentation is not always comprehensive enough, and Wrox authors have a tendency to give overly clever examples.
Strangely, there's no reference section. I found some of the explanations sloppy and confusing, especially the section of session variables. (I still can't get the WAP application to work properly.)
Thirdly, the chapter on OO design leaves the reader stranded. After a decent theoretical discussion, the writer informs the reader that there will be no code examples, as the reader now knows enough theory to work an example out for themselves! If I've paid for the book, I don't really want to have it set homework for me.
Fourthly, there are an annoying number of errors in the code. Many of these are corrected in the online errata, but there are quite a few that aren't at present. Furthermore, some of them are not typos, but seem to be the result of misconceptions on the part of the writer. This tends to reinforce the impression that some of the authors are relatively inexperienced.
Lastly, there are a large number of errors in the downloadable code. I suppose supplied code should be seen as a bonus, but it's poor quality control, and greatly adds to the user's annoyance.
Too many cooks spoil the broth.......2003-03-15
There are a lot of good concepts here but many of them are poorly explained. This book has about a dozen authors and you never are able to settle down and feel comfortable with the way any of the chapters are written. Check out Programming PHP as an alternate.
Not impressed: they don't know who their audience is.......2003-03-05
In reading this book, it's clear to me that the authors don't have a clear focus on who their audience is supposed to be and what they are trying to accomplish.
They sprinkle the book with trivial examples that don't give any "meat", concentrate on the details of what low-level functions are available, and gloss over completely how to make the best use of the features.
This book contains a lot of information, but it is not organized to get an experienced developer up to speed on a new language, nor is it geared towards a beginning programmer who might need basic concepts explained.
I don't know who would find this book at the "right level", but I wish I hadn't spent my money on it. I've gotten more out of the website than I got out of this book.
A Great PHP Book.......2003-01-09
In simple words - a great book. If you are looking to dive into some serious developing with PHP, this book could definitely help you find a path.
Pros:
- ammount of code as example
- in depth real world case studies
- the presentation of the book
- programmer to programmer approach
Could have:
- more about XML and PHP but you could buy 'Professional PHP4 XML'.
- more about the PHP's multimedia capabilities but again the book 'Professional PHP4 Multimedia Programming' is present.
I am not promoting Wrox Press but they did a great job on this PHP thing. I would expect them to present something with in depth coverage of PHP and Databases.

"Poignant keepsake for the grief stricken pet owner. The Author of My Angels Wear Fur has written another book that is impossible to put down."
Amazing. Incredibly helpful. A wonderful resource........2007-02-04
This was the only thing that helped me heal after the death of my sweet cat, Smudgie. I was in SUCH pain until I bought this book, just on a whim. I read it one night, and didn't really imagine it would be as helpful as it was. The next morning, it was the first morning I felt I could get out of bed. I've bought about 40 copies since to have on hand to give to people who are suffering from the loss of a precious pet. It's so painful and nobody seems to understand. I've had people react as though I'd gotten a flat tire, or something. The authors of this wonderful book clearly understand.

Yes,there is finally a real book on pick-up lines. The author did his research. Its about time someone wrote a book on pick-up lines and how, when, where and why to use them. This book covers the lot.
The book is divided up into various sections showing which pick-up line suits each situation. Not many corny jokes in this book so you're not likely to get slapped across the face or kneed in the groin.
This is the book every guy should have.If you want to improve your chances with women then this book is going to be help you meet and pick-up women. As for the price the book is good value. It definitely a quality book not one of those books written by some idiot trying to cash in on singles. If you are going to buy a book purely on pick-up lines buy this book. Its the only one you need.

Players Got To Play.......2005-07-08
I love pick-up lines and this book delivers. "The Definitive Book of Pick-Up Lines" by Max Tucker delivers lines that have more punch and wit, however these pick-up lines have more conversational quality to them. Devon Wild is a P.I.M.P.

In the early 1990s, Eamon Duffy's monumental The Stripping of the Altars provided a new slant on the English Reformation. Duffy has now dug deeper into the same fascinating period. The Voices of Morebath is the story of a hamlet buried deep in the heart of Devon. The parish priest Sir Christopher Trychay remained in office through the troubled times of the mid-16th century. During his long tenure he carefully recorded the impact of national events in his ordinary rural community. Trychay's account is unique because it is not a personal diary but a record of the parish accounts. Sir Christopher, however, was talkative and opinionated, so the accounts are laden with the minutiae of parish life. Duffy weaves these otherwise cryptic details into the wider tapestry of events of the time, and by analysing the result shows the devastating revolution that took place in ordinary people's lives. As the drama unfolds we see the folk of Morebath forced from their secure Catholicism into the new religion of King Henry. After Edward's brief reign the villagers breathe a sigh of relief and haul out all their Catholic paraphernalia, grateful that Mary Tudor has restored the Catholic faith. Then it all goes for good once Elizabeth takes the throne. Duffy has given us history that is absorbing, readable, and complete. His own enthusiasm for his topic gives the book a zest that takes it beyond the usual academic tome. Anyone the least bit interested in English history must not neglect this important book. --Dwight Longenecker, Amazon.co.uk
Book Description
This delightful book offers a rare glimpse of life in a remote sixteenth-century English village during the dramatic changes of the Reformation. Through vividly detailed parish records kept from 1520 to 1574 by Sir Christopher Trychay, the garrulous priest of Morebath, we see how a tiny Catholic community rebelled, was punished, and reluctantly accepted Protestantism under the demands of the Elizabethan state.

Of Altars and Prayerbooks and Candles (and Especially Money).......2006-01-22
THE VOICES OF MOREBATH is perhaps not quite accurately titled. As Duffy himself confesses, what we really have is one voice, that of Christopher Trychay, the local priest, who meticulously set down the financial transactions of his church in this small, rural, not-quite-impoverished hamlet. Even there we do not hear Trychay's total voice, for he was not recording his thoughts, philosophies, or observations about the government or the society around him, just the financial records of the church. Of course, a careful reading of such records can tell us a surprising amount about the welfare of the hamlet, especially because, at the time, the secular and spiritual realms were inextricably intertwined.
Duffy's writing style is not, I fear, particularly engrossing, and, at times, I had to force my attention on the sense of the text. Still, considering that Duffy was examining primarily financial records, hardly scintillating fare regardless of the historical era, he does a fair job at interpretation and extrapolation, and the observations of Morebath society that he draws from these records are well supported. Duffy is being a careful historian here, for he refrains from interjecting conclusions and suppositions that are not supported by the record; however, occasional dry passages are the inevitable result of such a studied approach.
I did find several points in this book to be instructive in that they created new perceptions for me: It seems as though churches in 16th Century Britain were as much concerned with their financial status as are those in today's Western societies; we find practically nothing in the record concerning spiritual or social matters but much concerning money. On at least the local level, Tudor-era agricultural villages seem to have had no civil government of any sort, the priest and his church being its substitute. Rather than civil law, social pressure, orchestrated as needed by the priest, ensured conformity with societal norms and financial support of the church.
Most surprisingly, these country farmers seem largely to have bent before the prevailing monarchical winds, changing their religious devotions as dictated by the current king or queen, moving from Catholicism to Protestantism under Henry and Edward, reverting to Catholicism under Mary, and then harking back to Protestantism under Elizabeth. Under one monarch, they had to surrender their holy books and ornamentation, and under the next they had to restore them. They apparently did so with such relative ease that one wonders just how sincere they were in their religious beliefs. This picture does seem to conflict with that drawn by Alice Hogge in her book GOD'S SECRET AGENTS, which is rife with beheadings, disembowelings, secret "priest holes" built into houses, and serious government spying. However, perhaps that is a difference between powerless country farmers and aristocratic city dwellers of the time. There was, of course, indication of at least some passive resistence to these abrupt changes decreed by the government, such as the hiding of church ornamentation now and then, but, except for the Prayer Book Rebellion, the causes of which are not entirely clear to Duffy, there appears to have been little overt resistence in the countryside.
In sum, THE VOICES OF MOREBATH does provide the reader with an informative glance at life in a small country hamlet during the 16th century. Frustratingly, it is a glance through the small window of local church finances and, as such, must surely miss seeing many other aspects of that life. Also, because it is a glance based primarily on everyday financial concerns of a rural church, it sometimes approaches the boring. Still, for a reader who wishes to further his understanding of commoners' lives over four hundred years ago, of the forced transitions of the Reformation, and of the burdensome taxation imposed by successive monarchs intent on waging fruitless wars with Scotland and France, all of which underlay the founding of a constitutional representative democracy in the New World, the book is a valuable resource. I recommend it for the serious student of history if not, perhaps, for the casual reader.
English Reformation made personal.......2003-08-20
From 1520 to 1574, in a small sheep-farming community in Devon, parish priest Christopher Trychay maintained a careful record of village happenings, filling the pages of his account book with what Eamon Duffy calls "the personality, opinions, and prejudices of the most vivid country clergyman of the English sixteenth century." That Trychay's tenure happened to coincide with the English Reformation -- in the course of which his parishioners would be swept into rebellion and he himself would adopt the new Protestant faith -- makes his chronicle all the more priceless.
A Window on Tudor Religion and Society.......2001-12-18
Professor Duffy painlessly weaves an engrossing story from the manuscript record of Morebath parish in England's West Country. Important background information is worked in while you trace the story of the parish's growth and trials during the tumultuous changes of the Reformation. Duffy's treatment relies on a unique and garrulous chronicle kept by Morebath's priest for half a century, Sir Christopher Trychay.
Thanks to Duffy's explanations, you understand how catastrophic the changes imposed under Edward VI were for this rural parish. You also see how spirituality was closely woven into the daily life and practice of pre-Reformation Morebath. The story of how the priest and his parishoners work out a modus vivendi under the religious changes of the day makes for compelling reading. The Voices of Morebath is an outstanding example of micro-history, I highly recommend this book for students of Tudor history and culture.
