Who's Who in the Bible.......2007-03-16
Book was never received and their response to my quiries indicated that I would receive a refund. To date refund has not been received. This book was ordered on February 13th, 2007.
Excellent Resource!.......2004-10-16
I'm a divinity student at an Ivy League school. "Who's Who in the Bible" is AWESOME. The bios and content are presented in a flowing, story format. There are lots of pictures and visuals to picture the people and see how they have been portrayed in the art. There's also a comprehensive listing of all of the people in the Bible, which is really helpful.
This book is great for div students, but an excellent resource for churches, families, and others!
An Excellent Reference with Great Pictures.......2003-12-29
From Aaron to Zophar, "Who's Who in the Bible" is an excellent bible resource. It's encyclopedic entries are clear and to the point, without feeling dumbed down. The many illustrations - some of which are spectacular full-page, life-like paintings - really help to bring to characters to life and elevate this from being just dry text - even kids will enjoy this. All entries appear in bold throughout so you can easily cross-reference. In the back there is an alphabetical listing of everyone in the Old and New Testament as well as the Apocrypha; plus an index.
In all, an excellent job by Readers Digest. Highly recommended!
Supplement with The Complete Guide to the Book of Proverbs........2000-01-18
Who's Who in the Bible is a great reference resource with lots of color illustrations and photos. The commentary shows how to pronounce the people's names and tells what their names meant. Related names are in bold for cross-referencing. Although written in 1994 it quotes the older Revised Standard Version (1952) instead of the New Revised Standard Version(1990). If you enjoy this book you may also like THE COMPLETE GUIDE TO THE BOOK OF PROVERBS by Cody Jones. Numerous biblical characters are pointed out who illustrate King Solomon's witty observations on human nature.

Greatest Stooge book EVER.......2007-07-17
This book is a Stooge fan's dream come true. I saw a reviewer say this book is cluttered and unuseable. Bull. Then again, he stated the Marx Brothers Encyclopedia is easier to use. I own that book and its more cluttered then this book. This book has everything in a nice, neat order. I own two copies of the book, after one fell apart. I emailed the author a back when I first bought the book and he is a very kind man. We had many discussions about our love for the Stooges. I highly recommend this book to Stooge fans. No Stooge book will probably ever compare to this one.
A STOOGES FAN DREAM COME TRUE.......2002-04-06
This book has everything you need to know about The Stooges.
It is well organized and easy to navigate. The detail of the classic episodes is worth the price alone. I highly recommend this book.
A Rehash of Lines and Names. Not Much Here........2002-02-12
I completely agree with other reviewers: that all one had to do is watch the Stooges shorts and write down the funny lines and names and voila you have Three Stooges Encyclopedia.
I give it two stars just because the section on supporting actors is interesting. Otherwise the rest is just a rehash of lines and names. The bios are even disappointing, it has stuff like, "We all want to be Curly."
I would advise to look elsewhere if you want a book on THE THREE STOOGES.
Very funny and helpful........2002-02-08
Not sure what the sign of someone's door said in MONKEY BUSINESSMEN? You'll find it in THE THREE STOOGES ENCYCLOPEDIA. This has some of the Stooges most famous quotes, songs, signs and so much more. You should buy this. This is the perfect addition to your Three Stooges collection.
The Official Three Stooges Encyclopedia.......2001-01-18
Informative, entertaining and insightful. A very original presentation of the most original comedy team ever. Readers are given new insight into each Stooge and a sense of where their genius originated. Especially interesting are the well written accounts of their personal idiosyncrasies as well as their relationships with each other. Time flies when reading this.

Certainly another good medical reference book........2005-10-21
This edition the AMA encyclopedia (2003) is fully based on its first edition (1989), so the review of the first applies to the second. The 1989 had better illustrations on the whole, but their editors often included inappropriate depictions for no apparent reasons. This irresponsibility carried over into discussions particularly concerning ethical issues, such as abortion (unfortunately, this is something we have come to expect from the medical industry). It is evident the editors had a very large axe to grind when discussing medically induced death therapy that is applied to our unborn citizens. There was neither a mature discussion of the particularly disastrous effect on our black communities through America's legalized and ongoing killing of babies; nor a serious review of the more than ample documentation concerning the Abortion-Breast Cancer (ABC) link, nor an assessment of the emotion scarring of the widespread Post Abortion Syndrome. Similarly, its discussion of sodomy inexplicably still utilized the discredited and criminally derived Kinsey report, and did not give adequate warning about the inherent dangers of that lifestyle. By overlooking these deficiencies, much good knowledge is available in the work. This new 2003 version includes significant and helpful updates since the 1989 publication.
Easy Referrence Guide.......2005-10-12
The AMA Encyclopedia is invaluable. It's complete, detailed and well layed out.
It's the best resource short of the internet. We used the old guide for years.
The front section that allows you to go through an illness step-by-step is worth the cost alone. What a good investment in your health.
American Medical Association Complete Medical Encyclopedia (American Medical Association (Ama) Complete Medical Encyclopedia).......2005-09-17
We are very pleased with this book. We have an older edition and are using quite regularly. My parents expressed interested so I bought the latest edition for them.
up-to-date, but fewer photographs.......2004-02-25
I have been using the 2 volume American Medical Association Home Medical Encyclopedia for several years and loved it. My only complaint was that it had been published in 1989, and a lot of things can change in the world of medicine in 2-3 years, let alone 10-12 years. So, I was very happy to see that a newer, one volume edition had been published. As was its predecessor, it is a very comprehensive resource, written in layman's terms, but not in a simplistic manner. Not only are medical conditions described in concise yet thorough detail, but symptoms and treatments are included as well.
The only thing keeping my review from being 5 stars is that it has fewer photographs than the 1989 publication. In some instances, a drawing does fine, but in others, it is a poor substitute. For example, In the new edition, there is a drawing used to illustrate a goiter, and all you really see is some shading on the neck that gives no sense of the size or proportions of what a real goiter would be like. In the 1989 version, a photo of a person with a goiter clearly and accurately depicts the condition. I would not want the lack of photography to keep someone from acquiring the book, because it is an excellent resource. Whenever the next revision is done, however, the extensive use photograpy needs to be reincorporated.
Trustworthy, detailed information.......2003-11-11
My family has always relied on the old AMA Encyclopedia; this new edition is terrific. It has more definitions, even better illustrations and photos, and more practical information. I especially like the symptoms charts and the color section on the human body. With all the questionable health information on the Web, it's good to have all the basics in an up-to-date guide from a source you can trust.

Excellent, but buy the updated version.......2006-08-25
I used this reference so much that my copy eventually fell apart. It's clear, concise, and authoritative. But it's very outdated. A newer version came out in 2003, which I was happy to order.
newer edition has slightly different name.......2006-06-01
The newer (2003) ediion is called "American Medical Association Complete Medical Encyclopedia".
This Book is Too Old.......2002-12-17
I didn't realize that this book has not been updated since its copyright--1989. The date of information probably is 1988 or earlier. While this book is clear and well-organized, anything that's 14 years old has little credibility with me. I feel that I made a mistake in getting it.
AMA Enclopedia of Medicine.......2002-06-28

That wasn't even know back there. It was Non A and Non B!! Time they updated their wonderful book. Any information about this? Thanks very much

Biggest Disappointment in my life.......2004-01-09
I purchased the CD ROM version. I assumed that I was purcahsing an interactive, searchable database oriented software title. The only thing on the CD-Rom is a Microsoft Word document and a few photos. The guy sold me his book in the form of a Word doc. I can not find words to express my outrage and anger. I have purchased other "Encyclopedias" in CD-ROM format such as Music Encylopedias, baseball encyclopedias, etc. All were searchable databases. But this, this tripe in a celophane wrapper is the single most disappointing product I have ever purchased.
Instant Access to College Football Info. Available Here.......2002-10-11
The College Football Encyclopedia is a treasure trove of information on the more than 90 teams included, giving many facts and figures on every year of competition for each school listed-scores, star players, statistics, bowl records, coaches, etc. Also included are a number of photos of stars of each team through the years, and interesting brief histories of college football and of the various major conferences. All of this, including the photos, are instantly accessible through the CFE Help Folder. Indexes are included as well. I found the book to be well organized, well written, and a valuable research tool as well as providing entertainment.
Don't be fooled by the title.......2002-10-05
*Disclaimer: This is not a review of content but rather it's presentation and organization.*
To put it simply, I was expecting to get a CD that I'd pop into the drive and get an animated menu to quickly choose from all the available stats, information, etc. Except that there is only a bunch of folders with Microsoft Word documents in them! An encyclopedia is supposed to be a quick reference, but this...this is just a waste of time. I only bothered looking at ONE of the documents and it *was* well written, but I mean, there isn't even a SEARCH mechanism or index. To find information you'd have to print out over 100 pages of text which is a waste of time to me. I thought I'd be getting a CD with an interactive menu, etc. I mean I did pay [money] for this!
College Football Encyclopedia, 3rd Edition.......2000-09-21
This is a very thorough compliation of data. It is very well organized and provides easy access to information about all the division 1A teams. It would be nice for a future edition to include division 1AA teams. With the CD-ROM the information is literally at your finger tips.

A to Z complete.......2002-02-25
I bought this book in 1993 when my husband was suffering from a
illness. The doctors were having a hard time in their diagnosis of his illness, and I wanted to help in anyway possible. This book was my constant companion for a year, and I still find it very useful for me , my family and for friends that are always getting information from it. My only dissapointment today is to find out there is not a newer, or rather updated version out...medicine has made a lot of new discoveries and constantly up dating treatments.
