Systems-on-chip (SoCs) are one of the hottest areas in the semiconductor industry today, replacing the ubiquitous microcontroller in a broad range of embedded applications. These powerful components combine the microprocessor, memories, and peripherals- in short, the whole system on a single piece of silicon. Due to its low price and extreme flexibility, one of the most popular and innovative SoCs available is Cypress's software-reconfigurable Programmable SoC(PSoC). This book is about designing, programming, and developing with the PSoC. It offers a more complete combination of technical data, example code, and descriptive prose than is available from manufacturer reference information, and is intended for engineers who are new to the embedded field, or for the tens of thousands of engineers who have experience with other microcontrollers but are new to programmable SoCs. The book offers a thorough, practical description of the device f

4 out of 5 stars Successfully tried to cover a broad concept.......2007-05-14

Tried to covered a broad concept and has done it well. He is more a video expert than an IP expert but given the breadth of the concept he is trying to cover, I must say, he has done a great job. I would have given him 5 starts if he had not use the term "signal" in the IP and RTP discussions.

5 out of 5 stars Broad scope with the professionally relevant details.......2007-03-11

This is one of the most in-depth and comprehensive books I have ever seen covering IPTV, security, streaming, conferencing, compression and network transport. If you are professionally involved in video, this book serves as the perfect first stop reference that will give you a quick understanding of what the technologies are for and how they interrelate. Information is very well organized and easy to find.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent Introductory overview.......2006-11-12

Excellent book for technical professionals looking to go deeper into video. All the relevant protocols and technologies are surveyed, and enough detail is provided to give an understanding of their relevance. Highly recommended - this will point you to the areas to explore in more depth if you need to go further.

5 out of 5 stars At Last, the Answers!.......2006-03-03

As a video engineer for over 30 years, I am constantly amazed by what passes for reference work in the field of television, communications and computers. Most of the technical books answer a few questions at best and are very good at putting one to sleep, very quickly!

Not so with Mr. Simpson's book. "Video Over IP, a Practical Guide..."is,indeed, just that. With the convergence of entertainment communications and computers, the plethora of acronyms in this field is worse than it's ever been. Video over IP cuts through the clutter and provides concise, easy to understand answers. Mixed in are real life application descriptions, and practical examples that describe the technology clearly and in a way that can be understood by engineers and managers alike. An example is Mr. Simpson's analogy comparing MAC addresses and IP addresses, where the MAC address is similar to an automobile's VIN number and the IP address, which may vary over the life of a piece of hardware, is analogous to the registration or plate number. Brilliant! Couple this with the review and checklist update at the end of each chapter, and what we have is an excellent reference work that is both easy to read and up to date. A must have for anyone in the video, telecom or entertainment fields.

5 out of 5 stars Terrific Reference Work!.......2005-10-31

This book provides an excellent basis for anyone working in the field of video transport over IP networks. The author is a highly-respected expert in this field and speaks with authority on the subject, yet has written a volume that is very readable and useful as a reference. I can highly recommend this work as an up-to-date review of the topic.

It is idle time for understanding a management will allow you to accustom to a developing area of telecommunications quickly. Written by skilled experts of company Hill Associates - the leading company on preparation of technical experts in the field of telecommunications, this book contains the technical information necessary for understanding and application of key technologies.

5 out of 5 stars best intro to voice and data communications.......2005-06-14

If you only can read one book on the subject, this is it.
Written by experts in the field of computer networking and telco engineers it gives clear explanation of POTS infrastructure and data networking fundamentals, including the internet architecture. A lot of pages are devoted to "dying" technologies, such as X.25, ATM, and frame relay. Hot topics such as TCP/IP and Ethernet don't get enough coverage in my opinion. Even so, the book deserves 5 stars because even though it may not have everything, it does cover a lot and it does it well and with some sense of humor. There is no "filler" in this book. Besides, other books on the subject are ether too light (Dodd and Golenievsky), too technical (Freeman and Minoli) or
too wordy and biased towards telco point of view (Bates and Horak)
I must say I liked Horak's "Communications systems and networks" too -- it has a lot of complimentary and interesting details, historical notes and is written in a warm and loving style. I recommend you to read it before Hill's book if you are really interested in telecommunications.

4 out of 5 stars One of the better books on the subject.........2007-02-03

I'm a working digitial media pro; a 15 vet, and I like this book. It is substantially clearer and better organized than others I have purchased. Comprehensive, decent glossary.

It ain't the be-all-end-all, but it sits proudly on my desk as a late-night on-hand reference whilst I struggle to hit another ambitious deadline.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent Guide.......2007-01-11

Really enjoyed this book. It was a simple read of complex terms. I have so many computer type books but none like this one where I could read from start to finish and really learn the technologies.

5 out of 5 stars An excellent technical overview of online video.......2006-08-21

This book goes into the high level technical details of creating an online video service. As an absolute newcomer to the field, I found it an invaluable tool for dealing with the knowledgeable professionals that I rely on to do such things as analog to digital conversion and the set-up and maintenance of media servers. This book will not give you the expertise to do any of these jobs - for that you have to get your hands dirty and actually perform some of the tasks yourself. But it will give you a grasp of the concepts and terminology you'll need to manage the issues that come up.

The book is solid all the way through, but some topics are treated with more detail than others. The sections at the start about video capture, compression, and file formats are in depth and somewhat technical. Later section, including one on transport protocols and DRM, are considerably more vague, probably because they are such complex topics that even an overview takes up the alloted space. Still, when I was able to dive into the details of capturing video from analog sources, compressing it, and setting up the software to serve it, but I could not have even begun to attack the problems of setting up a transport standard or a DRM scheme.

It should also be noted that one chapter out of the 8 provided is on a topic (enterprise multicast) that is not relevant to most consumer focused video services.

If you're going to be involved with online video at all, this book is an excellent technical overview. Highly recommended.

5 out of 5 stars For the beginner..........2006-08-01

...This is the best book I've come across on the subject. There are a lot of articles and other books that just throw these terms at you without them really being understood. This book shows you how other media (TV, film, dvd) are put together and how they can be converted to become internet content.

maybe all your questions will not be answered, but at least now you can ask intelligent questions.

5 out of 5 stars Truly understand streaming technology in plain language.......2005-02-19

The author does a great job of explaining streaming in great detail for the layman or more advanced user in plain easy to understand language. This book is good for web master, video engineer, student, or just about anyone who has an interest in a detailed guide about Internet video.

I found this book easy to read and understand. It is very complete in regard to today's technology. I have recommended it to several of my co-workers. A feel this book is required reading for anyone looking to deploy streaming into their organization. Damien Stolarz seems to be a person that is not just a tech writer but a seasoned engineer that has spend much time in the trenches of Internet video. This book is well worth the money.

Cisco Unity Deployment and Solutions Guide is THE book to figure out how to make Unity work and how to properly deploy it.

Very helpful!!

5 out of 5 stars Making Unified Messaging Work.......2004-11-09

In the beginning there was the telephone. Then there e-mail, and not long after came sophisticated voice messaging systems that replaced the simple answering machines. Then all of this kind of communications becan to converge. The combined communications capability became called Unified Messaging. Cisco's Unity server is the state-of-the-art in unified messaging systems. And this book seems destined to be the Unity Bible.

This book covers unity. Part I, about a quarter of the book is on the concepts and architecture of the of the Unity system. A good bit of the material in this section covers features that are not discussed anywhere else.

Part II, about a third of the book is on Deployment. Unity is a very flexible system. That means that the installer has many options to consider, and the use of these options involves tradeoffs.

Part III is on the ongoing management and administration of a Unity system. What tools, for instance, are available to monitor the performance of the system and how to interpret the results that these tools give you.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Best book on IPv6.......2006-04-19

I have half a dozen books on IPv6 on my shelf and by far Migrating to IPv6 provides the most comprehensive view of IPv6 and related protocols in both breath and depth. The book is written in clear and concise manner so it is a perfect learning tool. Moreover, it also makes for a good reference book because each chapter in the book is self-contained.

Our team works on IPv6 transition and we liked Migrating to IPv6 so much that we order a book for each team member. This is a must have book if you are working in Networking.

5 out of 5 stars Comprehensive and up-to-date reference ..........2006-01-23

This is a very comprehensive reference for IPv6. The author covers IPv6 from the basics to advanced topics like multicasting, anycasting, and mobility. The book even covers the application aspects of IPv6 and porting issues, as Marc has that background as well. I would recommend this book to anyone seeking a up-to-the-minutes overview of IPv6, and as a reference for anyone that will be working with the protocol over the years ahead.

5 out of 5 stars Great V6 Transition Handbook.......2006-01-20

Really useful IPv6 books are few and far between because the technology is so new and evolving rapidly so its hard for a book to keep up. Marc's new book is the most up to date and informative book available now. I've got a copy on my bookshelf and am already handing it to clients for reference about our IPv6 integration projects.

Amazon's date is wrong on this book. It was just published in Jan 2006, not in 2002.

Sylvia Hagen's book IPv6 Essentials is also excellent - I'm waiting for the 2nd edition to bring it up to date.

Formed in the classic textbook mold, Introduction to Cisco Router Configuration is designed as a supplement to the eponymous Cisco certification and training course. This is made abundantly clear in the end-of-chapter tests, the "Key Concepts" that dot the pages, and the bounty of diagrams, charts, and tables. But regardless of whether you plan to enroll in the class, this volume should be part of your networking library. The book's three sections deal handsomely with internetworking basics, networking protocol suites, and wide-area networking.

Internetworking (which editor Laura Chappell defines as that which ties LANs, WANs, software, and extraneous devices together) is effectively put in historical perspective in the first chapters. In addition, LANs, WANS, and the OSI model are all clearly defined both individually and in relationship to each other. The remaining chapters of part 1 address the OSI layers and data transport in more detail as well as basic router operations and configuration. The section on networking protocol suites is straightforward in its explanations of TCP/IP, Internetwork Packet Exchange (IPX), and AppleTalk in terms of the Cisco networking world.

The "Wide-Area Networking" section addresses the complex but essential topics of WAN connections, as well as X.25 and frame relay configuration. In the eight appendices tucked in the back of this book you'll find answer keys for those pesky tests, discussions of DECnet and Banyan VINES, and a host of other topics.--Sarah L. Roberts-Witt

Book Description

Introduction to Cisco Router Configuration presents the foundation knowledge necessary to define Cisco router configurations in multi-protocol environments. You'll examine a broad range of technical information on routing models, processes, and design. Beginning with internetworking fundamentals, you'll work through the internetworking model, defining the OSI layers and path determination, then move on to basic router operation and configuration. You'll delve into the configuration details for IP routing, Novell IPX, and AppleTalk, and then examine IP addressing and traffic management with access lists. Finally, you'll explore WAN communications, including serial connections, X.25, and Frame Relay.

5 out of 5 stars Good Book.......2001-02-11

Book is excellent, price is not. I lucked out and found it at Job Lot for 6.99 brand new. I bought two books there for $14, would have cost me $90 at the book stores. So shop around for a better price.

4 out of 5 stars Excellent for the exam, Excellent as a review........2000-11-28

This book starts at the beginning of what a new networking engineer needs to know and works through several examples of how this works in the real world today. It covers TCP/IP, AppleTalk, IPX, X25, Frame Relay, and more, if you count the appendicies. Unsurprisingly, it's also the best study guide for the CCNA. The writing is vague in places, but on the whole a review of the state of technology this clear is remarkable.

5 out of 5 stars I passed the CCNA exam using this book........2000-06-12

I used this book to help me pass the CCNA exam on my first attempt. I found the explanations in this book to be a big help in remembering the CCNA material. I also used the CCNA Virtual Lab e-trainer to practice using the Cisco IOS commands.

Book Description

With an estimated base of more than 300,000 users, there are an awful lot of ColdFusion developers out there. The cream of the crop, however, are those with Macromedia certification. To get that, you must pass the Certified ColdFusion Developer exam: This comprehensive study guide ensures that you do! In these pages, veteran author and ColdFusion product evangelist Ben Forta provides you with the inside skinny on everything you need to know to become a certified ColdFusion MX 7 developer. Organized as a series of tightly focused review sessions that follow the same subject divisions as the test itself, this thoroughly updated study guide covers all that’s new in ColdFusion—structured business reports, rich forms, Enterprise Manager (which lets users cluster multiple ColdFusion servers on a single machine), and more—as well as every major feature and skill: variables and expressions, data types, services and protocols, databases, tuning and optimization. Each short chapter includes well-explained code examples, and a companion Web site rounds out the package.

4 out of 5 stars Well worth the money.......2007-05-12

This is an invaluable resource for Cold Fusion developers seeking certification through Adobe or Brainbench. I give it 4 stars because of the inexcusable number of typos.

If you are a seasoned CF developer but want a book to make sure your general knowledge of CF isn't getting rusty... this is your book. If you are a newer developer and want an overview of the language this is a great book. It isn't the "only book you will ever need". Running a successful Internet Service Provider (ISP) requires excellence in many areas. Good ISPs must keep on top of all the technical issues involved in high-traffic Internet connectivity. They must deal with the public, including its most technically incompetent segments. On top of all that, they have to make a profit in a competitive business environment. ISP Survival Guide does a good job of explaining all sides of the industry.

Rather than tie his book to the specifics of particular hardware and software products, Geoff Huston explains ISP technologies without implementation details. He writes at great length about the various interior and exterior routing protocols without mentioning specific products. He also covers the pros and cons of various data-transmission technologies, including ATM, ISDN, Frame Relay, and other systems, in addition to analog modems. Huston pays attention to quality of service issues--a subject that is not well covered elsewhere.

ISP Survival Guide also provides insight into the business aspects of running an ISP. Huston provides specific dollar figures that you can use to estimate capital equipment purchase costs and per-account annual maintenance costs. The book also contains advice on doing business with other providers that you're connecting to. --David Wall

Book Description

Introducing the ISP bible for the networking and telecomm industry.

To put it mildly, cyberspace business is booming. There are presently more than 6,000 Internet Service Providers worldwide, and about 600 new providers are springing up each quarter. However, the ISP business is still very young and without precedent-no how-to manual or foolproof start-up recipe exists for those who want a piece of the action. As ISPs mount an ambitious challenge against phone companies for control of the $300 billion telecommunications market, they need a step-by-step planning guide to creating, developing, and profiting from a solid service provider business. Networking pioneer Geoff Huston describes the technologies, business practices, and policies required to be a formidable player in the ISP business, covering architecture principles, network management, infrastructure, business models, public policy, future growth, and much more.

ISP (Internet Service Provider) companies provide access for end-users to the Internet. ISPs range from small, regional providers to larger, well-known companies like America Online and Sprint.

The Wiley Networking Council's mission is to fill an important gap in networking literature by publishing books that put technology into perspective for decision makers who need an implementation strategy, a vendor and outsourcing strategy, and a product and design strategy. It is comprised of four of the most influential leaders of the networking community:

Lyman Chapin: Founding trustee of the Internet Society; chief scientist of BBN, a division of GTE Internetworking.

Scott Bradner: Trustee of the Internet Society; Director of the Harvard University Network Switching Test Lab; Network World columnist.

Vinton Cerf: Founding trustee of the Internet Society, often called the "Father of the Internet;" Senior Vice President, MCI/WorldCom.

Ed Kozel: CTO and Senior VP for Product Development, Cisco Corporation,

5 out of 5 stars General book for non specialist.......2002-09-30

I am non american, so that I can't evaluate the style of the author or his business capacity... Nevertheless, I think that this is one of the few books on this topic who presents a general view on ISP architecture and business. If someone knows an other book on this topic, I am interested in!!
It's not a book for specialist, you must not expect to configure cisco routers with it. But if you already know the basic of networks, it's a good introduction to ISP

4 out of 5 stars Gran recurso de investigación para redes ISP.......2001-11-14

1 out of 5 stars A call to reason.......2000-07-12

Readers who found this book lucid and helpful must be part of the editorial staff or the publisher's company.

After reading other's negative comments and passing them off as cursory and badly evaluated, I bought the book anyway. To my surprise, the negative comments were understated. The book was poorly written, has enormous gaps in the telecommunications area as related to the practical buildout of an ISP at both the hardware and business level. I returned the book after 10 days of thorough and painful reading. I cannot recommend someone spend money on this book. My apologies to the author but this is an honest response. The author could also use a few more years of grammar and composition before he publishes another book. I'm sure he knows his field but he simply cannot communicate it.

1 out of 5 stars misleading title.......2000-04-30

This book misses the point, written by techie who worked for a University network that was sold to telco which vowed to crush every ISP in the country, the title is somewhat ironical.

This dude has never managed a real commercial ISP in the business sense. Other then a few technical tid bits you should already know it offers little in the way of "survival strategies".

Maybe that's the point if you expect to survive in the business world focusing on router protocols and authentication servers your days are numbered.

If you are thinking of setting up an ISP this book covers some of the basics your technical people should already know inside out. If you are looking for advise on survival in the current market place forget it.

I would recommend browsing through the cisco online documentation its free and more up to date for technical details and freshmeat its related sites and debian.org for linux info.

This book is dating quickly as you would expect an internet book to do, emerging trends in adsl, 3rd gen gsm etc didn't really exist when written.

3 out of 5 stars Good outline, but a mediocre execution........2000-03-09

This book succeeds as a handbook--it is truly comprehensive. Unfortunately, it lacks depth in virtually every topic, and the writing is unacceptable--where was the editor?

Anyone in a management position within an ISP--or consulting for one--will be most effective in their job if they are familiar with the material in this book. Starting with the history of the Internet, it zips through a quick introduction of TCP/IP and immediately becomes bogged down in an interminably long and obtuse discussion of routing (Perlman is both easier to read and more detailed). A tortuous 45 page discussion of VPNs concludes with a terse and useful 8-word definition.

In spite of its flaws, it manages to at least touch on telecom technology, QoS, security, the role of the Internet authorities, and relationships between ISPs. The majority of ISP product offerings are discussed, and it includes a lengthy discussion of ISP business models. Everything is here but marketing, which is covered in a different Wiley text.

The book tries to be all things to all people, but specialists in any of the areas discussed, from technology to business, could find a better, more specific source, and it could easily be half this length without losing any information. A usable handbook would be twice this size, and half as prolix. Until such a text exists, I reluctantly recommend this one. Skim it if you have to, but if you work in the business you should be familiar with everything in this book.

Another in Cisco's Certification and Training series, Advanced Cisco Router Configuration picks up where Introduction to Cisco Router Configuration leaves off. Like its sister publication, this book is intended to accompany a like-named Cisco class and provides chapter-ending tests as well as a profusion of diagrams, configuration commands, charts, and such.

However, this volume's six sections tackle more complex topics with an emphasis on network traffic and connectivity issues. Instead of basic internetworking, scalability--particularly in terms of the router--is the idea driving these pages. By this, editor Laura Chappell simply means building a network that is able to expand, while requiring only minor interventions and additions. This leads to another strength of the book: underlying concepts are effectively outlined in the introductory chapter of each section, thereby establishing a context for the remainder of the discussion.

After getting the notion of scalability out of the way, the authors clearly discuss traffic congestion and ways to manage and solve it on Internet Protocol (IP) and Internetwork Packet Exchange (IPX) networks. They follow with an explanation of which protocol to deploy, be it Open Shortest Path First (OSPF), Interior Gateway Routing Protocol (IGRP), or Routing Information Protocol (RIP). Also covered is dialup connectivity for remote users and for wide-area connections, as well as how to bridge nonrouted services, such as Data Link Switching. Like many Cisco books, this one wraps up with seven impressive appendices, including a top-notch glossary.--Sarah L. Roberts-Witt

5 out of 5 stars It is what I use to teach the class........2001-12-10

Whether or not you pursue the CCNP certification router configuration is something that is a key to ensuring that your network is safe from the outside and the safety of the data is a prime concern of any network administrator.

This 635 page guide is a great addition to my technical library with the information presented I was able to enhance my router knowledge for both network and training purposes. The book is broken into five parts with Part 1 covering the overview the scalable Internetwork.

Part 2 delves into the topics of managing traffic, network congestion, setting up IP access lists, IPX/SPX and SAP access lists and setting up queuing to take care of traffic problems. Part 3 covers VLSM, Classless and Classful subletting, OSPF in both single and multiple areas, EIGRP and BGP protocols.

Part 4 is the Dial-Up section with topics like WAN encapsulations, ISDN, DDR, PPP and HDLC. Finally part 5 the Non-Routing section where you learn about bridging techniques like source-routing, transparent and translational. The book is filled with actual examples of the code to make the understanding easier. Overall an excellent buy for the money.

2 out of 5 stars very much lacking.......2001-09-14

This book could have been much, much more than it ended up. I bought it without having read any kind of review and I definitely regret it. After having read a far superior book on ACRC (Semester Five Companion Guide), I have to say that this book lacks too much in detail for the price. There are numerous errors (which you can view errata on the Cisco Press web site, it's massive) in this book as well that can confuse the reader tremendously. I only buy Cisco Press books, but had this been my first, I may have reconsidered. Mark McGregor did a much better job writing the Academy curriculum.

5 out of 5 stars Why Read Anything Else?.......2001-08-27

This will be a short review--I assure you. If you are serious about achieving CCNP status, this is the book to read after completing your CCNA (for that I recommend Tod Lammle's book).

3 out of 5 stars Good concepts, poor implementation.......2000-08-29

The concepts of this book are great - it explains the steps the router takes to accomplish a task. Unfortunately, the implementation isn't what I expected. Perfect example is setting up NAT. This book explains everything about how nat works, what it does and how it does it, but it doesn't give the OS commands to implement it! For the price, I would think that could be included.

5 out of 5 stars A half of ingridient you must have in order to pass.......2000-06-21

As i have advised many CCNP-tobe, you'll need both thing : 1) Cisco Press Study Guide ( this book for ACRC ) 2) Cisco ACRC exam guide ( for brushing and prepare you in the coming days of your testing experience :).

Use this study guide for your replacement of ACRC traning course.

Good luck, ( Scored 884, in 1 hour, though i thought i failed ).

Don't expect handholding in Cisco Routers for IP Routing as it explains the Internet Protocol (IP) suite and how to implement it with Cisco hardware and software. The key components needed to keep a network online are presented--addressing, subnetting, bridging, and routing--but this book assumes readers are generally familiar with the Cisco Internetwork Operating System (IOS) command-line environment, so it doesn't spend much time on the early familiarization process.

The bulk of each chapter contains practical information for setting up systems and solving problems, including lots of procedures and plenty of illustrative router output, plus insights on good design and administration practice. Readers will also find conceptual, hands-off material explaining what the various protocols do and how they do it.

Cisco Routers for IP Routing is rich in prose and presents complex topics with some fine conceptual diagrams. However, it explains only enough to help you understand the practical material that follows. For a really thorough understanding of IP concepts, supplement this manual with Thomas A. Maufer's more in-depth IP Fundamentals: What Everyone Needs to Know About Addressing & Routing. --David Wall

Book Description

Provides a complete systematic approach to network design, implementation, and troubleshooting with Cisco routers. Key technologies covered include Cisco Network Layer (OSI/RM), IP, IPX, Distance Vector Routing Protocols, Link State Routing Protocols, Multicast IP, and much more. Provides complete coverage of Cisco-specific troubleshooting tools including Cisco debug commands, traceroute, ping, and scripts.

5 out of 5 stars Invaluable quick reference.......2002-12-22

I have read all the theory and lengthy samples from the CiscoPress books, now I need a quick reference to perform my day-to-day task as a Network Consultant. This book provided the quickest way to know the stuff in configuring Cisco Routers. This is a valuable book for those who plan to tackle the CCIE Lab exam.

4 out of 5 stars Good enough to keep it as a reference........2002-11-21

The author did a great job of presenting the relatively basic information on IP routing as it applies to Cisco routers. You will find quite a few useful IOS commands discussed in the book that will want to keep it as a handy reference. I would also suggest looking into getting "Cisco IOS for IP Routing" by Andrew Colton. That book would take you deeper into mechanics of modern routing protocols (EIGRP, OSPF, IS-IS, BGP), along with a discussion of Cisco IOS commands.

5 out of 5 stars Great For Filling In The Gaps, CCIE Prep.......2000-08-23

This book does an excellent job of calling small details to your attention that sometimes slide right by you when using larger books. Between this and Jeff Doyle's TCP/IP book, you'll be covered for the written exam and have a firm foundation for the lab. A must for your library and my compliments to the author!

5 out of 5 stars Just Great.......2000-03-20

Why did this kind of book took so long to be published? The content is just what is missing in the Cisco Press publications, even better, this book is the first that offer a metodology for studying the Cisco stuff, generalizes the commands and make them easy to get along with them. The price is very reasonable and gives you better material in 474 pages than other with more than 500. If you are thinking about having a better understanding of the "Dark side of Cisco" take look at this an uncover them, they are unbelievably easy to understand with Rudenko.

5 out of 5 stars Dont miss this book!.......1999-12-02

Ok. So you've got all the Cisco Press Books. And you think what good is one little black book going to make. This is one of the most practical books on Cisco so far. The other one written from a practical approach was a title by McGraw-Hill.

This book is a winner. The author literally packs so much information in so few pages! unbelievable.

This book covers almost everything : Bridging, Routing protocols, Frame-Relay, Redistribution etc.

Highly Recommended. You wont be sorry. Invaluable for the CCIE Lab. Get this book plus Bruce Caslow's.
