5 out of 5 stars The only book you need!.......2007-09-10

This book teaches that even if you are not the next Amazon, ebay, or Google, you can still make a million on the internet. You just need to find a niche that is underserved.

I purchased "Starting an Online Business for Dummies" and the reviews were mixed. In someone's reviews, they mentioned this book and said it was much better. They suggested buying this book instead of the Dummies book. I took the advice, and am glad I did!

The book is great because it helps you understand that you don't need to be a billion dollar business to start with. Even small, underserved niche markets can earn a million.

I highly recommend this book if you are considering an ebusiness. It is well worth the money. I have been talking about this book to many people who have asked to borrow the book. I keep telling them to pick up their own copy because I am still using it as a reference! It is a great book!

1 out of 5 stars Do no give your money to this Author.......2007-09-08

If you already know what a "blog" is and you're fully proficient in searching the internet with google or yahoo, you're probably too sophisticated for this book. Fox's target are people with very little education (He introduces us at one point to the fancy MBA word, "business plan"). Fox also uses the website he started for his wife and mother as case studies. I guess I should have known better. After all, it is called 'Internet Riches" and has a picture of some guy driving in a brand new convertible on the cover.

5 out of 5 stars Very good product.......2007-09-27

This book is very good to get understanding of SAP SD structure. Book arrived before it was scheduled to arrive. So I am really happy with in time delivery and quality of the product.

4 out of 5 stars Implementing SAP R/3 Sales and Distribution.......2007-06-26

Excellent read for beginners and high end users. Not enough detail for consultants responsible for configuation.

4 out of 5 stars Very useful book.......2007-01-12

I found hard to find a good book on SAP R3 Sales and Distribution area. I am very satisfied with the contents of this book ; despite this, I would have liked to get also the prospective of the end user as I this book does not cover some -maybe too detailed- aspects of the day to day support work. I guess this was not part of the scope of the book

5 out of 5 stars Very well written - Very informative if you are new to SD.......2007-01-07

I have used this book over and over as a reference and it is pretty well written and covers all the major topics. You should use this in conjunction with SAP help. This book will give you basic introduction to all topics under SD and it does a pretty decent job of teaching you SD config in SAP. I am an SD functional lead and I recommend this book to all my new team members..

5 out of 5 stars Excellent book -- Abap to SD Journey.......2007-01-05

This is excellent book and i am very impressed with it's contents, language and quality.

Well i am have been working with SAP for last 8 years as a Abap/EDI/ALE resource and decided to take make a shift to functioal side.

Started with reading SAP implementation guide and SAP library, also found couple of intresting sites. But the best thing which happened to me was purchasing this book.
This book is very well organised and contains all the basic functionality in SD module with some real time examples. It explains both the SD business process flow and more importantly the configuration.

I would highly recommend this book.

5 out of 5 stars necessary.......2007-04-09

necessary for any serious photographer - provides plenty of ideas of where and what to submit

3 out of 5 stars Provides a list, but it's not enough.......2007-03-14

This book provides a very thorough list of photo buyers and surely photographers can try and contact them by sending portfolios or cold-calling, but in my opinion, you get a lot more exposure on online stock photo agencies like shutterpoint and such. Get the buyers to come to you instead of trying to push your work to them.

The book is a useful resource for serious beginning photographers, but there are more effective ways to start your photo business and get returns on your photos right away.

Step-by-step guide to creating compelling, memorable presentations

A chart that once took ten hours to prepare can now be produced by anyone with ten minutes and a computer keyboard. What hasn't changed, however, are the basics behind creating a powerful visual - what to say, why to say it, and how to say it for the most impact. In Say It With Charts, Fourth Edition --the latest, cutting-edge edition of his best-selling presentation guide -- Gene Zelazny reveals time-tested tips for preparing effective presentations. Then, this presentation guru shows you how to combine those tips with today's hottest technologies for sharper, stronger visuals. Look to this comprehensive presentation encyclopedia for information on:

* How to prepare different types of charts -- pie, bar, column, line, or dot -- and when to use each
* Lettering size, color choice, appropriate chart types, and more
* Techniques for producing dramatic eVisuals using animation, scanned images, sound, video, and links to pertinent websites

Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars Say It with charts.......2007-08-27

Very good as a quick guide for building presentations based on data and charts, but a little more information about when to use it type of chart would be very usefull

5 out of 5 stars Getting the point across.......2006-03-02

As an equity analyst, consultant, and communication specialist, I saw - and made - dozens of colorful presentations with the best charts that excel can draw that simply didn't work.

After the failed presentation, a consultant or analyst who knows how to get his point across will draw a simple diagram or chart on a white board that will be far more convincing and effective than the entire PowerPoint presentation.

This book is for the person who wants to get point across.

4 out of 5 stars Consider it part of a broad business education.......2005-10-25

When one considers the amount of time/money they spend on improving their job skills, it would seem obvious that a high-value read like 'Say it with Charts' would be worth some consideration. It provides a framework for using charts to your advantage- and not just within oral presentations. If anything, this book will increase your willingness to use charts to your advantage when selling an opinion. It forces the user to think about exactly what it is they are trying to say - and then produce a professional looking chart to relay that message.

Any edition will do - the content will not change with the times. The underlying principles can be quite powerful and can be the difference between a simple presentation and one which elicites praise.

4 out of 5 stars Say It With Charts: The Executive's Guide to Visual Communication .......2005-10-24

The book is tremendous for anybody who wants to a make a presentation effective by making it easy to understand.

5 out of 5 stars helpful - nothing more need be said.......2004-05-04

Full disclosure - I used to work at IBM and as an entry level consultant with an MBA there the first thing you are is the .ppt whipping post. That being said, the IBM training program covers many of the concepts from this book. Why?? Simple, they work. Is it the be all and end all? No. The only thing that can help you assemble good content is practice, practice, practice - with a healthy dose of constructive criticism from someone that knows what they are talking about. I just got through a days worth of presentations last Friday to one of the most senior technology people at a major government agency. All I can say is that I really, really, really wish that the people presenting before and after me had taken 5 mintues to review this book before getting in front of that crowd - it would have prevented some spectacular flamouts.

5 out of 5 stars Great book for freelance artists.......2007-09-24

This is a great book of sources for freelance projects. It has interesting articles and tons of people to contact. You do need to read through carefully to pick publishers who are more likely to need your services.

5 out of 5 stars must have.......2007-08-14

essential to the start-up freelancer or the old pro who wants new contacts for work. I wish they had this when I was starting out...

1 out of 5 stars Don't Waste your money........2007-06-21

Don't waste your money. As an art-rep I think this book is depressing and does not give a complete view of the choices that artists have. I found many mistypes and I believe that their sources are not a good spread of the market. My advice is to get it from the library and explore your options on the web. Just like anything start at the bottom, be nice, willing to learn, and stick to it. It is possible to make it.

Customer Reviews:

2 out of 5 stars Overall Disappointing.......2007-09-26

Based on the other Amazon reviews, I purchased this book. After reading it, and being thoroughly disappointed, I realized, on second glance, that most of the reviews here are from other authors, who seemed to give it the thumbs up.

I expected this book to tackle more issues with regard to eBooks, in terms of generation and advertising, and the information contained in this book on this subject was scant, to say the least. Most of the book addresses methods for promoting printed books, which is misleading (in my eyes) and conflicts with the words "eBook" and "Information Products", which appear on the front cover. Many of the ideas presented for advertising - TV, radio, seminars, etc., are well outside the bounds of the average author. Lots of regurgitated concepts that we've seen hundreds of times before in other books.

There are basically only 1 or 2 small chapters that are relevant to eBooks, and there are major omissions in that regard - no description of ClickBank (the pre-eminent leader in eBook distribution) other than a quick reference, and only a one page discussion of PPC advertising, which has to be addressed more thoroughly in this type of book.

I did find a couple of useful tidbits and website references, but it certainly didn't justify the price of the book.

5 out of 5 stars Complete Guide - Excellent resource.......2007-09-20

From Entrepreneur to Infopreneur is a wonderful resource for anyone who sees the value in creating a passive income source from their current area of expertise - either hobby or profession. If you don't understand or see the value in becoming an Infopreneur, then this book is definitely for you.

The book is well written, organized and full of valuable information. It offers an easy to understand, step-by-step guide for the entrepreneur to transform their business and become an information marketer.

It is very easy for the entrepreneur to under estimate the market potential for their knowledge. Stephanie does an excellent job of illustrating how to take the knowledge we have acquired and to package it into a valuable product that can generate income on a passive basis. The internet has made it possible - actually easy - for anyone to package and sell their knowledge worldwide.

While it is often referred to as passive income, Stephanie is quick to point out that creating an informational product is simply the first step. If you are not willing to actively market your product/idea then you will have wasted a lot of time and energy in creating it. The income might be passive but there is this huge need for very active marketing. But do not despair. All the steps and instructions for effective marketing are in the book.

The book is full of hints, helpful tips and resources. I had read less than 30 pages when I was given a suggestion that made me put the book down and implement it. There are literally hundreds of helpful website addresses in the book. In addition there are profiles of successful infopreneurs, explaining what they do and how they did it.

One other extremely valuable lesson that is hammered home throughout the book is the value of becoming a recognized expert in your field. There is nothing like publishing book(s), articles, special reports, etc, that will establish your credibility as an expert. This can dramatically increase your value and thus income from other sources.

The book has way too much information to absorb in just one reading. If you are serious about becoming an informational marketer, read it a couple of times and then use it as a handy reference. A great resource for those just starting out or the seasoned infopreneur.

5 out of 5 stars Your launching pad to success!.......2007-09-12

I've been playing with information products as a new direction for my home business for a couple of years now. I've had three different e-books on the edge of completion ... stalled. I have two websites designed and ready to sell my info products ... with nothing to sell and no idea how to go any further. I happened across this book, bought it on impulse, and read it cover to cover in two nights. Eight days later I've sold over $1,200 in info products on one of my websites following the author's exceptional advice and instruction. The "Infopreneur Profiles" were fantastic. I checked out all of their sites/products and learned a lot. The "Directory of Resources" was phenomenal and well-used. Ms. Chandler's writing style is direct and instructional while being entertaining and even motivating at the same time. Not only did I get exactly what I needed to light my fire and guide me the rest of the way to ebook success - but this book opened my eyes to related concepts and new ideas I can't wait to follow up on. I'd love to meet the author - just to give her a hug! If you want to make money selling information products (online or otherwise) this book will be significant in helping you reach your goals. Ms. Chandler, I think your book is underpriced. I would have paid more and now that I've read it - I would have paid a lot more!

4 out of 5 stars Inspirational.......2007-08-23

Good general information on breaking into the Info-Marketing arena.
Ms Chandler does a nice job of motivating and encouraging - especially if you've been sitting on the fence for a time, like I have.

For me, the best features were the list of various resources and the "real life" mini porfiles of Infopreneur's.

At the end of each chapter a short profile is included of people who are doing what I want to do - Inspirational!

5 out of 5 stars Excellent - has helped my eBook sales tremendously!.......2007-07-12

As an author myself,(my book is Stay-At-Home Mom's Guide to Successful eBay ® Selling)I am always looking for ways to promote my eBooks, and printed books. This book offers valuable information about how to build a mailing list for email marketing, creative ways to use the internet to self-promote, and excellent examples of real people who have found success using Stephanie's techniques. If you are interested in writing or selling eBooks, this guide is a MUST to learn how to promote yourself, your work, and your digital materials. Excellent read.

Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars nice book.......2007-04-17

Very nice book with a lot of SAS code. It is very helpful for the statistician who wants to enter the business area.

5 out of 5 stars Practical and Powerful.......2006-01-19

This book is really a useful step by step guidance to build a model using logistic regression. It is very practical and to the point. This book covers the business envrionment from high level and go down to the working data level and then again relate how the results from mining the data can solve busines problem. It is a treasure for data mining analyst and modelers.
Just as the author point out, although there are many new model building techniques emerge every year, logistic regression still remains a very powerful data mining and model building tool. And it is well demonstrated in her detailed examples.

5 out of 5 stars The True Data Mining Cookbook.......2005-08-29

In the Data Mining field, this book is the most clear and concise and well-organized book for many years. This book truly deserves to be called the Data Mining Cookbook because it appeals to everyone interested in the subject. In other words, her writing style appeals to both the non-statistician and the statistician. The theory is well explained for the general public. She gives the kind of details that allows anyone with a college education and who is determined to be able to do some of this analysis on their own or at least supervise someone who is doing it for them.

5 out of 5 stars Predictive Modeling Methodology For The Non-Statistical!.......2004-03-24

Logistic Regression From A - Z! This book has it all.

The author lays out clear, concise methodologies to build robust predictive models using SAS. The nice thing is this book lays out the process step by step with SAS code examples. You do not have to be a statistics major to understand how to use the built in SAS functionality.

The modeling methods are unbelievably detailed including topics like defining the objective function, testing variables for predictability using chi squared, fitting continuous variables using the most linear variable transformation format (squared, cubed, cubed root, log, exponent, tangent, sine, cosine, etc... 19 total formats), changing categorical variables to continuous indicator variables for logistic regression use, using stepwise, backward, and score regression methods to further eliminate less predictive variables, defining deciles, and model testing methods like bootstrapping, jackknifing and gains tables to validate the model.

I do not fully understand the mathematical concepts involved throughout the entire process nor do I want to. The book provides a consistent repeatable programming methodology to follow that is broken down into very quantifiable steps.

I would recommend this book for anyone with limited statistical knowledge and a need to understand predictive modeling programming methodologies. Knowledge of the SAS programming language is essential to make full use of this material. The book uses real life examples from the banking, insurance, and marketing industries and contains additional valuable information related to these fields.

1 out of 5 stars DM Cookbook CD ROM.......2002-04-16

Book is OK, but DON'T BUY THE CD-ROM! I dropped [a large amount] for what I thought would be a worth-while "self-learning" course on Data Mining programming in SAS. To my great disappointment, I found that while Olivia had included the code (which you can type in yourself), there was NO DATA PROVIDED, making the code all but useless (can't run the models with no data!). I e-mailed her asking for some kind of a sample data set. She agreed, but after months of begging she provided nothing whatsoever. Don't make the same mistake I did - STAY AWAY FROM THE CD-ROM!!!

4 out of 5 stars Professor Review.......2000-10-12

I teach Radio and Television at the University of Southern Indiana. Your book is the best sales text I have ever encountered...real world examples, tips, concepts, etc. My Senior level sales class is getting the "real story". I came to teaching after 10 + years in broadcast sales and management; it'snice to have a book I believe in.

5 out of 5 stars This is the book I was was supposed to write........2000-09-16

I'm a sales consultant in Radio Broadcasting. Shane is considered a Radio Programming Guru. What's he doing writing an media SALES book? The problem I have with it is - it's just excellent. It's thorough, basic but not elementary, well-organized and well thought out. While it's supposed to be a university-level textbook, every radio and television station would be smart to have this book within arms reach of the Sales Manager. Well-documented, well-done, nicely done. Dammit!

Solid book on CS- long read!
Many good points-
Wish there was a cliff notes version

5 out of 5 stars The book that was missing.......2004-09-08

This book fills in the empty space of academic books in CRM. Most of the publications and articles I've read deal with research on the subject and companies selling their programs. In this book Peppers and Rogers compiled a comprehensive text with theory, research and contributions from other authors that are a valuable tool for the under and graduate level.

5 out of 5 stars Highly Recommended!.......2004-08-06

This very extensive text on customer relationship management leaves nothing unsaid or unexplained. Authors and editors Don Peppers and Martha Rogers tackle the subject with admirable organization, clarity and depth. They define every important term and do not lose the reader in marketing jargon - a rare virtue in a book about marketing. The text, including contributions from other well-known experts in the field, propounds a well-developed theory of customer relationship management (CRM) and sets out numerous examples to illustrate, explain and clarify the theory. Useful as a handbook, textbook or reference manual, the book covers - among many other core subjects - customer identification and differentiation, customer feedback, an analysis of retailing and basic tools for CRM. We highly recommend this book to service-oriented managers and executives. To form profitable relationships with your customers, first get friendly with Peppers and Rogers.

5 out of 5 stars Taking One-to-One marketing to the CEO's agenda.......2004-07-28

Having just finalised an e-business thesis on Online Personalization, I must say that this book is an impressive source on the strategic level for what is synonymously called CRM, One-to-One marketing, relationship marketing, etc.

What I like about Peppers & Rogers is that they don't pretend to be the only ones to have seen this shift in customer-focused organizations (although they were first-movers in US by coining the term One-to-One in 1993). Peppers & Rogers accept readily that many other people have interesting perspectives to add. Thus, this book includes many contributions from marketing wizards like Philip Kotler, Seth Godin, Bruce Kasanoff, and Patricia Seybold.

The book is the sixth from the authors. If you have read some of the previous publications, you'll already be familiar with their core concepts like the IDIC-model (Identify-Differentiate-Interact-Customize), as well as Learning Relationships and customer Lifetime Value.

I believe that Peppers & Rogers' most important contribution is to change a company's focus from customer acquisition to customer retention. That is: Stop spending all you money getting new customers and start spending more on keeping and growing existing customers. This is where the learning relationships come in. The basic idea of Managing Customer Relationships, the authors concisely describe in plain English:

The Learning Relationships work like this: If you're my customer and I get you to talk to me, and I remember what you tell me, then I get smarter and smarter about you. I know something about you my competitors don't know. So I can do things for you my competitors can't do, because they don't know you as well as I do. Before long, you can get something from me you can't get anywhere else, for any price. At the very least, you'd have to start all over somewhere else, but starting over is more costly than staying with me.

Being a Dane, I'm proud to see the reference made on page 172 that the relationship theory can be traced back to the Scandinavian School of Relationships Management (e.g. Gronroos and Gummeson). Back in the 1980's, both were required reading in Scandinavian business schools. They often researched service firms and B2B-networks and based on this knowledge, they emphasised the contents and types of the business relationships and the required strategies to make these relationships work. It wasn't until the 1990's that CRM-initiatives took off in the United States - and usually they have been very technology-driven. Today, we all accept that you need both the relationship mindset and the technology-enabler. So the two approaches may ultimately achieve the same goals.

Peter Leerskov,
MSc in International Business (Marketing & Management) and Graduate Diploma in E-business

5 out of 5 stars Don and Martha Do It Again!.......2004-05-25

Another stellar effort by the pioneers of one-to-one. This book tackles CRM on several different fronts, and includes thoughtful pieces from a range of expert contributors. The book features both tactics and theory, including a helpful history on the emergence of CRM as a major business philosophy and some of the original research behind relationship theory. A hefty reference, and a useful one!

It is very good book to map business process between Client & SAP R/3.
Every Functional Consultant should have this book as a refference.

4 out of 5 stars One of the few decent resource tools for SAP.......2007-03-22

A good resource, help tool for SAP users. You will need to be somewhat familiar with SAP to appreciate this book, however, I would recommend purchasing it as a reference tool. Easy explanations and complete.

3 out of 5 stars Teaches the fundamental concepts of SAP PM.......2006-09-21

Rather than trying to be a detailed guide to Plant Maintenance, a comprehensive reference book, or a source of answers to complex problems, Stengl tries to teach the fundamental concepts of SAP PM.

A very basic introductory book that demystifies the PM module. Aimed at the newcomer to SAP R/3, the book is a great guide. And a guide any new traveler must have to navigate the highways and back roads of SAP. It works best as a supplement to a SAP-PM course, but lacks the depth of a resource book.

In Chapter 4 - "Objects in R/3 PM", the authors do a good job of explaining the relationship of Functional Locations, Equipment, PM Assemblies, and Materials. Chapter 5 attempts to tackle breakdown and corrective maintenance, having worked as a Maintenance Planner, my first reaction was humor. In a perfect world, the roles of Maintenance Planner, Maintenance Technician, and Maintenance Controller would be this structured and defined. In the real world things are not so black and white.

Buy the book if you are new to SAP PM. It is a nice entry point. If you are approaching the Plant Maintenance with prior SAP experience then I recommend skimming the chapters in a bookshop before buying online.

There have been good reviews or this book, but somehow I do not think it suited me as much as I would have liked. Nevertheless, it is a helpful reference that enabled me to refresh some concepts on the field of Plant Maintenance in SAP.
