Very Pleased Customer from Chicago.......2006-02-26
I am so please to be able to say that product was shipped early and great condition!!!!!!!!!
Great IDEAS.......2003-09-14
This book provided a great deal of information and ideas to draw from. I enjoyed that I could read it quickly. I was able to apply some of the ideas or variations of them at work !
Changing the way you look at work.......2001-12-29
Barbara Glantz has written a life altering book--at least a life at the workplace altering book. It is easy to read and filled with hundreds of big and little things that can change the way you spend 40 hours a week. Very positive, super ideas.
There are better books on the topic..........2001-01-07
This book is just okay. There are a lot of examples of how to improve morale at work, but the writing isn't that great, and the book isn't very well organized. There are much better books on the topic...try Managing to Have Fun by Matt Weinstein or 1001 Ways to Energize Employees by Bob Nelson.
Book Description
The author brings you information you need to make intelligent decisions about the safety and treatment of your water. Don't Drink the Water also contains a complete resource guide to assist you in becoming active in one of the most important issues of our time. "This is the most up-to-date and readable work I've seen on the subject of contamination of our drinking water and how to protect yourself from it. Study the advice given in these pages and act on it." Andrew Weil, MD
Customer Reviews:
Some good info, but not enough.......2002-03-25
For the reader who currently knows nothing about water contamination and purification, this is a decent book, since it provides some eye-opening information. However, there are better books out there, depending on what you're looking for.
For specific advice on water contamination and safe water alternatives, including bottled water and home purification, I recommend Colin Ingram's "The Drinking Water Book." It has more information and a better format, including a simple chart that rates the effectiveness of different home purification methods for eliminating different contaminants (something this author didn't include).
If you're looking for something more political, buy "The Sierra Club Guide to Safe Drinking Water." This lists specific steps to improve drinking water on a larger level, including political action and people/agencies to contact. It also includes a list of major U.S. cities and their violations of water purity regulations. Finally, it lists the EPA drinking water standards in an appendix. Of course, it also includes advice on safe water alternatives, but this is not as extensive as the recommendations in The Drinking Water Book (see above).
Very Scary! Excellent Read! A Must for Every Nutritionist.......2000-07-24
I just got finished reading this book in between classes, and all I can say is WOW! Be aware, and beware of your tap water. If these statistics are correct, then the EPA and the U.S. government are not concerned with protecting your right to clean water, and therefore, you must educate yourself in order to protect against degenerative disease.
[ 1991-1992 EPA records showed that the nations water systems committed over 250,000 violations of the Safe Drinking Water Act, affecting more than 100 million Americans - and 10% of those exceeded the MCL (Max Contaminant Level) of the EPA. ]
This book is a great start finding out the truth of the matter. Toxins are everywhere! We all need to learn where they exist and remove them for our own and our childrens sake.
Someday, a high ranking official on TV may review this book, or a similar subject and try and spin these numbers a certain way to make it not sound so bad, but don't be fooled. Statistics seldom lie. Only politicians do. Politicians can come from any field, not just government. Politicians come from industry, medicine, lobby, and big business etc. Be a detective, and look for anything that doesn't make sense.
"The Truth is Obvious, Everything Else is Questionable"
Read this book! It contains vital information........1999-08-17
This book is certainly a very factual and "blunt" book about the seriousness of our domestic water quality. With the coming "Y2K" event on the horizon, I believe Lono A'o's comments are even more appropriate and noteworthy. I have given this book a 5 star and I am giving serious thought to making this book a required reading for all the students in my Environmental Studies class at New England College. That's how serious I believe the issue is.
Very thorough about current water filtration methods.......1998-08-28
If you ever plan on buying a water filter of any kind -- this is the book to read. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is that I wish it would have given more specific information regarding name brand water filtration systems available and where to get testing information etc.

Book Description
Born blind and declared incurable after a series of childhood operations, Meir Schneider remained convinced that his disability was not permanent. As a teenager he began to work with teachers who gave him exercises to reverse his blindness. Within four years he gained a remarkable degree of vision, and began developing a system of therapeutic exercise combining movement, breathing, and mental imagery. When he began working with others, miraculous recoveries occurred.
The book gives specific guidelines for back problems, arthritis, multiple sclerosis, breathing ailments, eye problems, and muscular dystrophy. Movement for Self-Healing parallels the stories of Schneider and the people he has worked with, detailing his holistic methods of stimulating the natural healing powers of the body, offering a practical guide to specific exercises, and articulating a profound message of inspiration and hope.
Customer Reviews:
Easy to read, inspirational.......2007-07-02
The first half of this book is Dr Schneider's account of how he got to where he is now and who he has helped and healed. The second half has specific exercises for specific disabilities. This book has changed my life and improved my health. I bought this book to help improve my eyesight since Dr Schneider was born blind, and it improved much more than that. I sound like a preacher when I talk about it, my belief is so strong in how well it works. I noticed increased energy immediately after trying some of his exercises. I have developed and improved pain management. I really wish I could get other people to read this book to help themselves, it really helped me.
The Movement for Self-Healing.......2004-10-31
This marvelous handbook with an unprepossessing cover has as its source of power, a significant number of stories and anecdotes
based on the author's personal experience as a natural healer. There is no stronger force for changing and altering our lifestyle than "been there, experienced that".
Schneider takes us from his early years having been born blind through wonderful tales of wry humor and astute observation of his peers and adults that shows his gifts as an intuitive healer.
The book is easy to follow: divided into three parts with 17 chapters. The author vacillated between despair and hope for many years, and the force of his will, along with the inevitable mentor we have all had at times in our lives led him to open up to the world as his vision emerged. As a senior in high school,
Schneider began teaching others how to recognize the equilibrium and balance that our bodies cry for as we gradually act all too often against our better angels of healthiness.
Living abroad, the author continued to learn and express his own wisdom as he helped others with diseases such as polio, failing vision, back problems, arthritis, even multiple sclerosis and muscular dystrophy. Examining the all-too-human phenomenon of "internal resistance to healing", the author uses case studies, graphic drawings, and repetitive examples to help us gain confidence that we too can alter and adopt the behavior of well-being. For example, Schneider devotes a fair amount of space to the well-known but oft overlooked Bates Method of better vision. But he does not focus on that issue with great technical reliance on medical terminology. Indeed, the value of this fine volume is that the subject matter is dealt with in common sense verbiage: "back problems" are near-universal and the mechanics are often way beyond what most people want to know. Schneider knows his subjects of body movement, natural healing with sleep and time, the use of yoga and its variants, visualization, and support from friends and compassionate healers. Einstein (or Virginia Woolf) would be quite happy with the emphatic clarity of his writing.
This book will be of value to those interested in holistic health (and medicine) as well as Philosophy (mind and body issues). His commentary on ageing, breathing, body imagery, and the need to simply "listen" to ourselves may seem simple expressed in a review, but through the two-page Epilogue of his School's Education Director we come to realize that the Meir Schneider Self-Healing Method is a healthful approach of great quiet authority. The seven-page Index is an excellent tool for referencing Schneider's well laid-out and thoughtful scheme of how some 30 people came to improve their health and stay healthy.
Note: a much-shortened version of this review first appeared in
the Nov/Dec issue of New Age Retailer.
Packed with exercises which have had proven results.......2004-10-12
Author Meir Scheider was born blind but was convinced his condition was not permanent: as teen he began to work on eye exercises to reverse his blindness and became able to see over time. His primer on self-healing thus comes from experience and is packed with exercises which have had proven results for arthritis, eye problems, back pain and more.

Book Description
The Doctor's Always In is a comprehensive guide to medical information on the Internet that is uniquely oriented to the needs of consumers rather than medical professionals. There are 25 easy to read chapters that are organized according to body system and specific disease categories. Each entry contains a site address, a layperson's description of the information at that site and, if available, the e-mail address of a contact person at that site. In addition there are several introductory chapters that explain in non-technical language how the Internet and World Wide Web work and how to troubleshoot common problems encountered while searching for information.

A Wonderful and Valuable Book.......1999-12-12
Cuts through the red internet tape right to the medical site. This is a comprehensive, well organized book that can save time, which is crucial ,when you're sick or a loved on is ,and you are looking for help on the internet. It has every conceivable category in a handy paperback edition. It's contents tell all from How the Internet works to a detailed list of chapters(alphabetical of course)ranging from allergy, asthma to urology. Within each category the authors almost seem to read your mind. The sub -headings under Urology, for example, are from bedwetting to prostate problems and vasectomy. There's even a chapter on Sports Medicine. Given the state of our Medical profession in the USA today this is really an essential tool up there with the dictionary and Dr. Spock.

Book Description
Women are increasingly coming to see pregnancy and birth as a spiritually meaningful period in their lives. But Jewish women looking to supplement conventional pregnancy resources with Jewish spiritual material have found little available, primarily because the Talmudic Rabbis who formulated the basis of Jewish prayer and practice were men.
The Jewish Pregnancy Book breaks the silence by creating and renewing Jewish prayers and rituals for this miraculous and challenging time in a woman's life. By reviving prayers our foremothers wrote and passed from one generation to the next, to investigating medical and ethical issues from a Jewish perspective, to exercising the body with pre-natal aleph-bet yoga, this groundbreaking handbook addresses the whole being: the mind, body, and soul of the pregnant Jewish woman.
For the mind--Basic medical information on topics such as fetal development, fertility treatments, morning sickness, and the risks of delivery, as well as discussions from a liberal Jewish perspective on ethical issues such as selective reduction, home birth, and conditions for having an amniocentesis.
For the body--Pre-natal aleph-bet yoga, a unique blend of yoga and Hebrew letters designed to gently help your body carry your pregnancy and ready itself for delivery. Includes step-by-step instructions and photographs clearly demonstrating each pose.
For the soul--Ancient and modern prayers and kavvanot for each stage of pregnancy, including an everyday prayer for pregnancy from an eighteenth century Italian siddur, psalms that have been traditionally associated with pregnancy, and a contemporary prayer to provide comfort through morning sickness.
Customer Reviews:
Very handy.......2006-11-03
I am very glad I have this book. For some, the most important part will be to help find modern ways of celebrating their pregnancy within a Jewish context. For others, it's a way to link in with traditions that people hardly discuss or even know about anymore. A good book for an age in which we no longer have much folk wisdom passed down within families.
www.JewishPregnancy.org loves the Jewish Pregnancy Book.......2004-10-19
I really love this book and have been recommending it to pregnant women I know! It is a beautiful book and a lot of fun to read- and a great companion for the pregnant Jewish woman in your life.
It is the first book to compile all the traditional Jewish sources on pregnancy- and they are presented in a fascinating, fun-to-read way that makes them really pertinent to your experience of pregnancy. It also meant a lot to me that the book addresses a lot of important yet rarely-discussed issues that pregnant women deal with from a Jewish perspective- providing very sensitive and insightful advice, for example, about prenatal testing, miscarriage, coping with finding out that you are pregnant with an abnormal fetus.
The book is written by a Reform rabbi and his ob/gyn wife- so it is possible that more traditional readers will be put off by the made up prayers, or other things written from a more liberal perspective. But even for these women, there is still a lot that is worthwhile in this wonderful book.
The only thing I did not like was that half the book was about yoga- and I personally did not find that useful. I wish that the first part was just twice as long!

An Enriching Experience That Should Not Be Missed!.......2004-01-28
Pregnancy is a special time, and this book helps to enrich the experience. Dr. Falk and Rabbi Judson have collaborated to create an extraordinary mix of insites into traditions that enhance the spirit, practical advice for difficult moral issues, and old fashioned common sense. I can't think of a more fitting gift from a husband for a wife, from a mother for a daughter, or from one friend to another. I recommend this book for anyone who wants to make a special time even more special.
Book Description
This introductory textbook addresses the basic information and skills that are essential to Health Information Technology (HIT). Material presented in the text is designed to reflect the core competencies defined by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA), focusing on the practical aspects of health information technology. Each chapter deals directly with national, work-based skills and takes the reader from basic knowledge to practical applications at every step. It serves as an excellent link between the basic foundations such as what is contained in a health record, and the more advanced topics such as how to abstract the contents of a health record for coding purposes.

e-Healthcare, The Revolution is Underway.......2000-11-11
Goldstein provides a timely wealth of information in an easily readable format. The information is well documented and very futuristic; rather than the more typical books that talk about what's already happening. Excellent resources and examples are offered to depict relevant points. I think this is the most comprehenisve book on e-healthcare available today. It is a valuable read for practitioners, managers, and students interested in building core knowledge.

Customer Reviews:
Out of date solutions........1998-12-09
The networking solutions provided by these authors very clearly illustrate the public sector's misuse and misunderstanding of information production, delivery, and presentation technologies.
The focus of most contributors is on technologies and concepts that were even out of date at the time of publication. There is little or no mention of data driven, decision support using spatial analysis of community specific health needs, or data and information preparation for community health analysis. In short, the book takes a, largely, traditional public sector IT approach to community health networks, which does not usually focus answering the questions of -- what information is needed, how will the information be used, how and to whom should the information be delivered, how will data be organized (architected) so that community health assets can be compared, ... and so on.
