Clearing things up.......2004-06-05
I am not sending a review but would like comment on Thomas Clouds remarks. Thomas, Dan Richards wrote Getting clients/Keeping clients. Not Dan Sullivan. That said Sullivan's book, The Great Crossover is awesome! Give that one a try.
Talk in General terms.......2004-01-07
I did not find the book real helpful. It was to general and had many predictions but was sparce on good specific advice. My favorite book of this type is "Getting Clients, Keeping Clients."
Sincerely,
Thomas Cloud, Jr., ChFC
His vision of our industry is right on!.......1998-12-18
I have been in the life insurance business for 14 years and have worked in the agency system (as and agent and manager)for two of the largest mutual companies. I had been referred to this book by a friend of mine in the industry when I was disenchanted with direction of the agency system.
Mr. Sullivan's comprehension of the present agency system and the industry is only superceded by his vision of the direction of the future. He is right on!
So much so that I decided that it was time for me to move on and join a producer's group where I was totally independent without any conflicts of interest to my client. I am in total control of my destiny now. By the way, my production has conservatively doubled since I have moved on. I am more confident now, with a broader array of products, and most importantly no distractions.
Thank you Mr. Sullivan!
Sincerely,
Stuart B. Arakelian Registered Representative

Nuts & Bolts of Making it Happen !.......2002-08-06
It is an awesome book..every real estate salesperson should be required to read it!
A fantastic reference book.......2002-03-22
After reading the book I realise that success in selling real estate depends a great deal on techniques which the author share with us in her excellent book. They are practical and may be applied to listing and selling homes even in Singapore, where I live and work, thousands of miles away from the United States of America.
I treasure this book as I refer to it constantly. For example, I have read almost all the books written on real estate and it is hard to find a more complete guide to conducting an open house successfully.
Horrible book with useless, obvious advice........2001-10-29
Handing out pumpkins on Halloween and giving out scratchpads to everyone on the street is not part of the real estate business. Prospecting regularly, however, is. The book contains only 18 pages on prospecting and the rest of the book is useless garbage.
New agents who follow the advice in the book will never be doing more than 20 deal a year and will spend most of their hard earned money on scratchpads, stupid cheap client gifts and halloween pumpkins and their time learning "quick-speak inventory" and the script for a boring three-hour listing presentation outlined in the book, instead of selling and making deals.
Read a Mike Ferry or a Floyd Wickman publication for information on how to build a profitable and efficient real estate practice. Do yourself a favor: don't buy this book.

This is a "Must Read" for New Agents.......2000-04-13
This book assisted me immediatly with ideas and suggestions. I got my license in January & 2 1/2 months later have completed my 1st transaction, with 2 more in escrow and a great listing. I especially appreciate the subject index as it allows me to target specific areas of particular interest, like FSBO's or Prospecting. This book is definitely worth the investment.
A "must read" for every agent, new and old.......1999-01-25
This book is the most complete treatise on how to become an effective and successful real estate agent that I have found. It covers every aspect of becoming a "top producer" for those that are willing to work. This edition is an update of "How to List and Sell Real Estate in the 90's" which I read last year. It contains much of the same information but addresses the practice of real estate using the Internet and some new agency issues such as exclusive buyer broker agency. Every realtor should have a copy of this book in his/her office!

21st Century Essential NBC Reference Series: Treatment of Biological Warfare Agent Casualties, Army Field Manual Revised Edition, Anthrax, Smallpox, Plague, ... Destruction WMD, First Responder Ringbound)
Department of Defense
Manufacturer: Progressive Management
ProductGroup: Book
Binding: Ring-bound
ASIN: 1592486134 |
Book Description
This is an up-to-date version of a classic military field manual considered to be a vital reference for the treatment of biological weapon agents and bioterrorism attacks. It serves as a guide and a reference for trained members of the Armed Forces Medical Services and other medically qualified personnel on the recognition and treatment of biological warfare (BW) agent casualties.
Information contained in this publication may also be relevant for the diagnosis and treatment of patients with naturally acquired diseases or illnesses due to pathogens with BW potential. It classifies and describes potential BW agents, provides procedures for collecting, handling and labeling, shipping, and identifying potential BW agents, describes procedures for medical diagnosing, treating, and management of BW casualties, and describes medical management and treatment in BW operations.
The treatment modalities contained in this manual differ from standard textbooks in that they apply to BW agent exposures. The method of exposure for most BW agents is by inhalation; whereas, the endemic disease exposure (if applicable) is by other means. Some of the disease agents covered include: anthrax, brucellosis, melioidosis, glanders, plague, Q fever, tularemia, viral agents, smallpox, Venezuelan equine encephalitis, viral hemorrhagic fevers, toxins, clostridium botulinum toxin, clostridium perfringen toxins, ricin, saxitoxin, staphylococcal enterotoxin B, and trichothecene mycotoxins.
For each disease, it provides general information, agent delivery method, environmental detection, prevention, clinical presentation and symptoms, diagnosis, treatment, control of patients, contacts, and treatment areas, and medical evacuation.
It also includes information on recognition of a biological warfare agent casualty, medical management data, military (US Army, Air Force, and Navy) medical treatment facilities, definitions, abbreviations and acronyms. This up-to-date manual was revised in 2002. It is a superb source of current information on the diagnosis and treatment of potential biological weapon casualties.

Book Description
Video Green examines the explosion of late 1990s Los Angeles art driven by high-profile graduate programs. Probing the surface of art-critical buzzwords, Chris Kraus brilliantly chronicles how the City of Angels has suddenly become the epicenter of the international art world and a microcosm of the larger culture. Why is Los Angeles so completely divorced from other realities of the city? Shrewd, analytic and witty, Video Green is to the Los Angeles art world what Roland Barthes' Mythologies were to the society of the spectacle: the live autopsy of a ghost city.
Customer Reviews:
Art and Life.......2004-12-07
Video Green, just out in Semiotext(e)'s Native Agents Series, is the most recent compellation of Chris Kraus essays. Written in the early-to-mid-90s after the author and critic moved from New York to Los Angeles, the book is her second since the infamous I Love Dick, a fictionalized account of her short tryst with Dick Hebdige, author of Subculture: The Meaning of Style. Although it is true that Video Green casts a jaundiced eye on the academicism of Los Angeles art, it is almost by accident. Kraus happened to be teaching in the graduate program at the Art Center College of Design when she wrote the essays. Most of the writing is really much more about the culture shock of a New Yorker trying to acclimate herself to a West Coast world she found ironically lonely and inhuman. It so happened much of the art coming out of the schools during that period Kraus felt mirrored what was most empty about Los Angeles. The better part of the book, however, is actually not about art as much as it is about living. Kraus's larger subject is often the artifice of sincerity. Where psychology is at issue, nothing is certain or fixed in a Kraus piece. The writing is as much concerned with telling a story as it is with the story itself. As with Aliens and Anorexia or I Love Dick, these essays are about intimacy, both as something that is somehow produced by construction and as something that altogether escapes it. The Kraus self-portrayed in these essays is a super complex person, equally rendered in full emotional armor and simultaneously bared to the harshest scrutiny. Kraus devotes much of her book to recounting her experiences trying to connect to the new world around her. Much of the book is, in fact, an original exploration of bondage, etc. Video Green is illustrated with atmospheric photos by the artist Daniel Marlos.
A BRILLIANT, THOUGHT-PROVOKING, MUCH ANTICIPATED BOOK.......2004-10-08
A high-speed, thought-provoking, eye-opening account of the Los Angeles art scene in all its brutal, sexy, scary, narcissistic, oppressive, vacuous, seductive glory. Trying to find her way through the insane labyrinth of an art world that seems to be a byproduct of the entertainment and sex industries, struggling to fit into an MFA program without being "a part of the program," Chris Kraus delivers a powerful book where every sentence is as sharp as the pain of rejection, every observation as acute as the mental state of the scene itself. Not only does VIDEO GREEN stand on its own as a rare and priceless documentation of the dazzling emptiness behind the center of the universe, it can also be read as the third, much anticipated installment in Chris Kraus's wonderful L.A. trilogy. In other words, if you're looking for other books to buy with the excellent VIDEO GREEN, get I LOVE DICK and ALIENS & ANOREXIA.

Still a Winner.......2003-05-10
When I marketed work for Writers' Showplace I always used Jeff Herman's book as a reference. Now that Writers' Showplace has closed its door I've opened another business, The Writer's Guide.Com and I still have Mr. Herman's book close at hand.
On the other hand.......2002-12-30
This is a huge and expensive book. It's also, for my purposes, terribly out of date. Several of the agents I've contacted have moved or are longer in the business. It has some very good features such as the advice section but I could've gotten the same advice for free from the internet. As other reviewers have noted there is an easier and cheaper way to get writing information. Pick up a book that is similar to the stuff that you write. Go to the dedication or thanks page and read it. Many authors thanks their agents and editors. Write down those names and track them down. It takes more time but it's easier on your pocketbook and will probably be more accurate.
Next year I will by the Writer's Market book instead.
Overflowing with information!.......2002-07-18
The Writer's Guide to Book Editor's, Publishers, and Literary Agents, 2002-2003 is the best REFERENCE BOOK available for new and experienced writers. This book is overflowing with information - it includes everything you will need to connect yourself with the top editors and agents in the industry. Purchasing this book is a must for anyone serious about his or her writing career.

The Best Resource in the writer's world.......2002-06-13
Is the bible of the writers. Is a tool for professional writers. It's great for the writers that have collided with the established high standards of the world of publishing, even being them good writers. Read this book and push your talent and you will be published. Many times, depend of what kind of material you wirte. So you need to know what the publisher or the agent are looking for or need. And Jeff Herman (a great agent) guide you for the publishing labyrinth. He tell you how to catch the free time of the editors...and who to contact in that industry. Get the book!
Many of my clients have used this book- and got published!.......2002-05-29

Book Description
The overriding challenge for our species during the 21st century, many believe, will be that of evolving...or becoming extinct. Can the theory of evolution be expanded into a source of guidance that could help our species save itself? This collection brings together the thinking of scholars in a wide range of fields in social as well as natural science directed to this end. Moving beyond a critique of neo-Darwinism and sociobiology to explore the action implications of new theory--including Loye's reconstruction of the long ignored full vision of Charles Darwin and Laszlo's new QVI "fifth field" theory--essays explore the potential for the impact of self-organizing and self-regulating organism, of the biology of love, and the moral directional thrust of the human, as revealed in new discoveries in the fields of biology, psychology, brain research, sociology, economics, history, cultural evolution, and Darwinian re-evaluation. As such, the collection will be of interest to the educational community, the futurist community, and the more general "global foresight" community of concerned people.

Book Description
In September 1999, St. Antony's College, Oxford, hosted a conference on how the intelligence services of the world should respond to the changes in world politics that have flowed from the collapse of the Soviet Union. No less important was their discussion of how the revolution in information technology is challenging the time-honored methods used by the intelligence community. This book reproduces the papers delivered and offers an edited account of the discussion. The conference involved senior intelligence officers from six different countries, among them a former Director of the CIA, the Deputy Chief of the British SIS, the head of the KGB's Illegals Directorate and their counterparts from Italy, Sweden, and France.
