Customer Reviews:
Good Book.......2007-02-23
When I first got this book, I was a bit fooled by the thin size but it has a great store of information in the thin size. Highly recommended for anyone that wants to learn more about making bows, arrows, and equipment the old way
Native American Know How.......2007-01-11
This is a very detailed book on how to make authentic Native American Bows & Arrows, and it's very easy to understand.
Informative.......2005-08-25
Informative book, pretty deep insight into how NA bows and arrows were made, used, decorated, etc. Some good photos, descriptions, worth the money and read. I keep mine for reference, as it has loads of specific info in the book. Advanced bowyers would likely not like the book, folks who are just starting or want to learn the NA way that these things were done will like it.
Thank you for the criticism.......2003-01-27
I'm the author of the book, and appreciate the criticisms and praises. I *would* like to let folks know that I wrote this book when I was 19 years young, and had a lot to learn. I wrote it in response to a very bad, and misinformative book that was considered the 'bible' of indigenous archery books at the time. Now, there are many books available on this wonderful subject.
Jim Hamm's book, video, and classes are invaluable. So is TM Hamilton's book, and DC Waldorf as well.
Don't miss my "Voices of Native America" music book as well.
arrows are included !.......2002-10-03
The other title of the same author "making arrows the old way" has its text already fully printed within "making indian bows and arrows the old way". Amazon gave me a discount so I could get both titles at once, and I end up having twice the same text and pictures on arrows... Do not do like me, buy only this title, not the arrow one. Nice book by the way...

Book Description
In Native American tradition, the purified essence of all things is Light, and the purpose of our lives is to generate that Light. Here for the first time, a native teacher goes beyond the trappings of ritual and ceremony to reveal the core philosophies behind this sacred wisdom. Raised in the traditions of the Native American Way, author and educator Chokecherry Gall Eagle has been granted permission to share the secrets of the Fire Teachings and the Stone Dreams, and he does so through revealing anecdotes and remarkable tales of spiritual growth and adventure. He explains the Four Directions and their significance in our lives, and tells us how to see the everyday manifestations of the Great Spirit that runs through all things. Beautifully written and intellectually rewarding, this spiritual guidebook is vital for every seeker of truth and healing, or anyone looking to restore balance and harmony to his life.
Customer Reviews:
A rare book!.......2001-07-27
This is a very enlightening book. Finally, it seems someone has had the courage to divulge some of the more esoteric teachings of Native American spirituality. I have studied esoteric teachings for many years, and there is far between books like these that really gives you many and deep insights. Definitely a book that can be read many times, and each time you will get something more out of it. A far cry from the books of "plastic medicine men". T. ex you can buy books out there that tells you how to make your own medicine wheel, even coming from a non-native background. This book will tell you that you are not reallly ready for any such thing before AT LEAST 30 years of study and practice. No quick-fixes here! As non-natives we need to have an very deep respect for Native American spirituality. First we took their land, then we prohibited their religion and language, forcing their children to go to boarding schools in order to brainwash them into Churchianity and capitalism (this first ended in 1970!!), and THEN well-meaning, if ignorant, people come and demand to be initiated into their spirituality, taking Indian names, charging money for teachings, etc. I do believe we can learn from them, if we will listen with an attitude of respect. It is wonderful that Chokecherry Call Eagle had the mission and the courage to publish the teachings in this book. An extremely honest and higly recommendable book..!
Astounding.......2001-07-16
I read a lot of books on Native American spirituality, Christianity and other spiritual paths, and I don't think I have ever encountered one this good. Chokecherry Gall Eagle has led a truly amazing and unparalleled life. The wisdom he has gained and the fact that he is willing to share this knowledge with everyone is still amazing me. There are so many lessons to be learned from what he has to say. I have read it twice and I am sure will read it many more times, just to soak in as much as I can. I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in any aspect of spirituality, or to anyone who wants to read an amazing story.
Beyond the Lodge of the Sun.......2000-02-09
This book was a delightful surprise! The author's words and opinions spoke loudly to me and I appreciate his candor and willingness to present the story and information in a way that is more easily understood by people who are not steeped in the traditions and concepts of Native American Spirituality. While the book was very interesting and entertaining, the most important impact this book had on me was triggering a lot of introspection and thought on my own beliefs, particularly in regard to Native American spirituality. The author's sincerity and seriousness about the subject matter were refreshing, and the depth of his committment is obvious. There is one thing about this subject, book, and author that I was left with to chew on that I have thought of many times before and still have not found much resolution on. For people who are sincerely trying to learn from this Red Road in order to make themselves a better human being, the author's personal experiences are enviable. There is so much "stuff" out there and so few people who truly have the traditional knowledge and the sincere commitment, that experiencing the "real" thing when it comes to interaction with people tends to be the exception rather than the rule. I guess we all have to do as best we can, stay sincere and committed, and trust that the Creator will provide us with the appropriate guidance and direction. In closing, I would like to thank Mr. Gall Eagle for his willingness to share his life experiences, his knowledge, and his wisdom; but mostly I would like to thank him for simply being who he is and living the life he is living. There is much in this book for people to learn from, if you take the time to look within and examine yourself honestly. Take time to sit and "Cogitate" (as my grandfather used to say), to let the messages and wisdom that are there for you individually, manifest themselves. There is much here below the surface for those who ernestly seek.

Interesting Guide .......2006-02-24
If you purchase the book use the data. One may follow a path to introspection and learn more about their higher self. An introduction that may assist one walking the path. The book is in my library, good quick read.
Don't get Confused!.......2005-06-04
While a fairly interesting look at shamanism (along with a few other peripherially related spiritual tools), this book is also published as Shamanic Spirt, under which title, it comes with a CD of shamanic drumming. Don't get confused and buy both!
Find the hidden message of truth contained withing this book.......2002-03-03
In the preface of this book it is written "In this very action of writing is sometimes contained an essence that is not of the mind, that essence comes from the Spirit and is conveyed to the Spirit of the one who reads the words with an Open Heart." These ancient truths can assist one in creating a relationship with the universe. The sun, the moon, and the stars are alive and they are not separate from us. This book contains a complete understanding of what one needs to know about Truth and Great Spirit. Many of the spiritual teachings out there in my opinion miss the mark where this hits it right on the money. Read and learn the Value of "Balance" according to the teachings of the "Medicine Wheel" and "Directional Technology" and see how even the teachings we have come to trust for many years are one step off. Contained within these teachings are the secrets to a happy marriage, a successful career, a healthy body and mind as well as a true spirituality. This book teaches you how to move from one direction to the next and keep them all in balance. These are not the teachings of Kenneth Meadows they are the teachings of Great Spirit, they are the ancient truths passed on in an oral tradition from the native people who have recieved their guidance in Ceremony communicating with the Ancient Ones. In these short words I cannot possibly decribe to you the depth of value hidden within this book, my hope is that everyone can read this book and see the truth and the widsom that is there for all of us. So trust me if you are seeking truth, you will one day come to see that most all of the teachings you will read about are only sections of the pie and what is taught here is the entire pie. I don't know Kenneth Meadows and may never meet him but I do recognize truth when I see it. Keep up the good work Kenneth our world needs the understanding.
Excellent shamantic guide for journey of self-discovery!.......1998-06-12
Meadows' clarity and easy-to-understand approach to the search for meaning and purpose guides a novice such as I along a path to self-identity and realization of inner potential and individual responsibility. This book is a must for readers who seek information on self-discovery, the many (often hard-to-understand) aspects of life science, self-fulfillment, and understanding of life's journey. Summary? Great book, hope you enjoy it too!

The Mystery School Within..........2005-11-19
This is the first book I've read in this series and, although it appears quite small, it contains many, many points to ponder for those who are on a "spiritual journey/quest".
There is so much information, that I actually had to take notes so that I could remember, and go back to, what I felt were the most important points for me.
Overall, "Spiritual Unfoldment 3" covers:
*The mystery schools - what they were in the past, and the transition from a "physical" school, to a school within our soul.
*The important role our thoughts play - not only in our own experiences, but the experiences of humanity as a whole
*The importance of practicing meditation
*Various meditative strategies
*Karma as an opportunity to learn & grow
*How sound & color can link us to our "heart center"
*The lack of boundaries between the physical & the spiritual - that they actually interpenetrate one another

Book Description
Sacred knowledge to understand ourselves and the natural world.White Eagle Medicine Wheel is a unique pack designed as a simple, step-by-step guide to the sacred teachings of Native Americans. Using the illustrated book and its powerful deck of cards, and with Wa-Na-Nee-Che as your guide, you will progress through three levels of learning. You will be taught how to communicate with the animals who will show you their medicine ways; you will discover how to access the energies and teachings of our elders; and you will learn how to use the four creative sources of power through their archetypal symbols.White Eagle Medicine Wheel is a resource for problem-solving on all fronts, whether at home, at work, or in relationships. You will quickly realize that its teachings generate remarkable inspiration and intuitive powers. The native peoples of America are appalled at the way we are treating our planet and feel that we are on the brink of social and ecological disaster. They believe that only through deeper spiritual understanding of ourselves and of the natural world can this be prevented. Until recently, Native Americans have been reluctant to share their wisdom with the Western world. But now, with the agreement of elders and spiritual advisors in the United States and Canada, Wa-Na-Nee-Che, and his scribe Eliana, reveal how this sacred knowledge can benefit us all. Wa-Na-Nee-Che-- which in Lakota means He who is needed by the people- is one of the very few remaining Native Americans willing to share the original wisdom of the old way of life. He will help you to discover the inner self. You will learn how to live in harmony, not only with yourself, but with all living things around you, and with all the children of Mother Earth. You will never look back.* Native American wisdom for everyday use* Easy-to-use method for problem-solving, healing yourself and others* 46 beautiful medicine wheel cards* Illustrated book gives full instructions on using the cards
Customer Reviews:
answered my question while other cards could not.......2007-05-10
Every one has their own opinion which can make or ruin the outcome of a reading. Go into it thinking it is silly it will turn silly. If you open yourself to the deck, the meanings will come forth for you. Being of open mind makes the deck work, not just the cards themselves tho your reaction to them can aid in the discovery.... I was needing an answer that I could not get from my other decks.(not even Jamie sams) WHY? It was the pictures in this one that I found warm, inviting and calmer because the colors on the cards were comfortable. I sat down with these and opened my energy to them, gave of myself and the cards gave back. I AM A PROUD OWNER, (or maybe owned by,) OF THESE CARDS. What I have been taught by these cards I will cherish for as long as the cards choose to stay with me. I almost put them up for sale till I had a warm feeling come over me and I decided to at least try them. I am now making a beaded pouch to keep them in. DO not listen to others until you yourself have opened up to the energy of these cards which will mix with your own.
Beginning Shamanism (Not Native American or Animal).......2005-06-07
"White Eagle Medicine Wheel: A Native American Way of Life" by Wa-Na-Nee-Chee is an excellent introduction to the tools that shamans use. This book is divided into learning from three groups - animals, grandmothers and grandfathers, and totems. In addition, Wa-Na-Nee-Chee inserts himself into the book to guide the reader into the inner mysteries of shamanism. By doing the card spreads and readings, the reader has a safe way to begin the practice of shamanism. The reader can discover their own meanings of each concept that "White Eagle Medicine Wheel" presents.
Although, Wa-Na-Nee-Chee presents his book and card set as "Native American" wisdom, people would do better by learning the cultures of specific tribes. Medicine Wheels are usually found in Plains Cultures, and Totem Poles in only Northwest American Cultures. You would not find the two together in the same culture, as the author seems to imply.
Although, the writings of the animals are similar to "Medicine Cards" by David Carson and Jaime Sams, the beautiful cards do offer an intuitive way to know the animals. In addition, the animal teachings can be read alone or with teachings such as `record keeping' and `birthing'. To learn how to integrate animals into a shamanistic practice, the reader is well served by this book. However, if the reader is interested in learning more about animals or Native American cultures, they should seek out other books instead of this one.

I love these cards!.......2002-07-27
They are beautiful. Very colourful, with detail, lots of symbology and meaning. The book is easy to read from cover to cover, and as a reference book. I highly recommend this set over the others that I've seen.
Sacred and Beautiful Deck.......1999-05-11
This beautifully designed deck holds the sacred teachings of Native American knowledge and is visually inspiring. The 46 cards are accompanied by a 132 page book filled with information of the symbolism held in the pack. Included are spreads, ceremonies and rituals, all divided into levels of apprentice, student and elder. You will love the inspiration of this unique teaching tool.

Book Description
1911. Dell, British writer, began writing at a young age. Most of her stories were ones of passion and love set in India and other British colonial possessions. The novel begins: The long clatter of an irregular volley of musketry rattled warningly from the naked mountain ridges; over a great grey shoulder of rock the sun sank in a splendid opal glow; from very near at hand came the clatter of tin cups and the sound of a subdued British laugh. And in the room of the Brigadier-General a man lifted his head from his hands and stared upwards with unseeing, fixed eyes. See other titles by this author available from Kessinger Publishing.

One enjoyable story in this collection.......2007-05-26
From the back cover:
This single guy's biological clock's ticking and there's no bride in sight. How does he get a baby? Find out in New York Times bestselling author Kasey Michael's love story PARENTS BY DESIGN.
A hospital-bound single mother-to-be jumped into a taxicab and guessed she was in for the ride of her life--with the man of her dreams--in award-winning author Kathleen Eagle's DADDY'S GIRL.
He was talented, successful...and fatherhood was the last thing on his mind. But the stork--and a woman from his past--had other plans in bestselling writer Emilie Richards's A STRANGER'S SON.
And my review:
I didn't like PARENTS BY DESIGN because I found it ridiculous that both the hero and heroine (who are in a relationship) would want a baby and wouldn't just say so to each other. Instead, they each independently decide to take care of a friend's twins to trick the other into wanting children. Umm...how about discussing the desire for children like two rational adults. Oops, sorry, I forgot. People can't behave rationally in romance. Sigh. One star.
I didn't like DADDY'S GIRL either, and have yet to read anything by Kathleen Eagle that I did like. I'm afraid that her stories just don't engage me, and her characters don't make me care all that much. This was no exception. Two stars.
I bought this book for Emilie Richard's story. Ever since falling in love with her Christmas story SWEET SEA SPIRIT find in the Mistletoe and Holly/Sweet Sea Spirit (Christmas Magic) collection, I've been hunting down everything she's ever written. I was afraid I wouldn't like A STRANGER'S SON, since I don't like the "one night stand becoming true love" theme, but this author was able to handle it with enough delicacy that I liked it. For one, she steered clear of a torrid sex scene and merely alluded to the night they spent together. I also liked that there were real problems keeping the hero and heroine apart, not stupid pride or dumb misunderstandings. That being said, though, this wasn't a story I would bother to read again. Four stars.
One story in this collection is enjoyable, but it's not an amazing read. Try some of Emilie Richard's other books to see what she's really capable of. I personally recommend The Trouble With Joe, Once More With Feeling and Twice upon a Time, as well as the Christmas story mentioned before.
