Very Good Text For MBA International Marketing Course.......2006-08-17
I don't understand how people could complain about this book being too complex, poorly-written, or poorly organized. Everything is presented clearly and logically, and the case studies are relevant and interesting. I found it simple to read, informative, enlightening, and actually fun for the most part. My only criticism is that the authors don't, in my opinion, give an entirely neutral treatment of some of the politically-charged issues raised in their book. It seemed as though they would sometimes more heavliy emphasize one point of view (their point of view, quite obviously) over others.
Not as bad as others are saying!.......2006-06-20
I purchased this book for an International Marketing course I had to take for my MBA Program. I have to disagree with what I have read about in other reviews - I found this book easy to read, and simple to understand. The examples used help clarify concepts and I felt the book was well organized. I especially liked the Country Notebook section in the back of the book. It was the perfect course-long project to apply the concepts and knowledge we learned about in class. I feel that this book is just about as good as an International Marketing MBA textbook can get!
Knowledgeable authors-boring writing.......2005-12-14
I took an International Business class for my MBA. I read every chapter in this book. There was a lot of knowledge included but there is often too much wordy writing and the book drones on. The definitions need to be in the margins. The last chapters are more of a cross cultural study of doing business with Japanese. It was a boring read-but good before bedtime for those that do not fall asleep easily.
Wordy, poorly organized, requires significant supplements.......2005-06-15
I used this book in an MBA International Marketing course. The text is a very cumbersome read. While the book contains adequate anecdotal information, the information is poorly organized and often fails to engage the reader. I routinely found myself searching for more concise supplemental materials for concepts the book failed to develop. The narratives are extremely wordy and consistently obfuscate salient points. If I were using the book as an instructor, I would use the country notebook section as a course guide and scrap the rest.

Too many incongruences.......2007-10-08
I have just bought this book. Went to Chapter 8 and study it deeply. I challenge anyone to understand the strategy explained as there are many incongruence between what explained and the example charts. How can a trading book be confusing?
Do not trust my opinion? I challenge anyone to find chapter eight congruent. I challenge anyone.
Suggestion: do not buy this book.
Excellent.......2007-09-30
Well rounded book on trading for people to gain an overview of all markets. The best ones like this are by those who actually trade.
This is one of the first I read as a beginner, where some of the things were over my head but still held a lot of interest. Re-reading it now brings out the full benefit. Great book.
Anyone knocking this book does not trade daily........2007-09-27
When I first heard the reviews of John Carter's Book ,I was a bit confused. Some people said the book was great, some said it sucks. Then I bought the book and read it. This book is a very good look at trading from top to bottom and in the middle. The people that are dogging this book must not trade at all period. These are very simple and easy strategies to follow with examples to support. PLEASE BACKTEST and USE TIGHTER STOPS, because the guy is either filthy rich or got balls of steel....I am sure Carter did not put a lot of his losers in the book but he did put some. I find it sad that people dog this guy so much. Yeah, he is greedy..very greedy, but his products are what they are, GOOD. My only complaint is his DVD's are 2400.00 and his open software indicators are copied from the Tradestation library and are 1600.00. ALL in all he has a great book and a good website with a free trial that is only 14 bucks. He has some excel downloads worth that alone. Buy this book if you want to day trade or get a better perspective of other succesful traders. You will learn a lot. Try to buy his other products 2nd hand they are too HIGH. If the guy's products wasn't so high he would be a lot more popular and respected. He has been called a snake oil salesman. He is not that,he is just a greedy salesman and a helluva trader... Great Book on trading!!!!!!!!!
Great Read.......2007-09-08
I really enjoyed this book and would recommend it!! It covers all aspects of trading not just strategies and setups e.g. trading tools, trading mindset etc....lots of great information on futures, equities, options and forex.
A great trader's course.......2007-08-10
This book is a great trader's course. The author tells you everything you need to know, from selecting computer hardware (this info might be a bit dated), to risk management, financial psychology, discipline needed to trade all markets. There are about 10 chapters with setups where the author shows you the entry, exit points and stop loss points and gives about 4 or 5 examples of how he successfully traded each of the setups he is showing you. My only complaint is that the author only shows 3 or 4 failures in the whole book. This might lead a person to be overconfident and think that trading is so easy a caveman can do it. :)
If the author has a dozen setups that can work in any market, and he can trade 24/7 on the global markets, forex, etc. and he applies the risk and money management techniques in his book and he only has a 6% failure rate, he should be a multi-billionaire by now.
Overall, a very good book, but the author makes trading seem a lot easier than it really is. In real life trading, unlike the book, you won't have only 3 failures for every 50 successes.

Book Description
Deep within each one of us lies the ability to step up and care for those in need, even though we often feel overwhelmed by a complex world. In fact, more than 200 million people throughout the world offer their time and love to volunteering. The stories in Chicken Soup for the Volunteer's Soul highlight the efforts of everyday people in the United States and around the globe who volunteer with the American Red Cross, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Habitat for Humanity, the Peace Corps, Points of Light, Rotary and many, many other nonprofit organizations. Lovingly chosen from more than six thousand stories, poems and cartoons, these tales will inspire readers to do everything in their power to help those in need. Chapters include: The Rewards of Volunteering, Giving Back, Making a Difference, New Appreciation, Love and Kindness, Defining Moments, A Matter of Perspective, Overcoming Obstacles and On Wisdom. Readers will cherish the story of a community that rallied together to send warm winter coats to refugee families in Kosovo. They'll be moved by the tale of a woman with a "smiley voice" who made audiotapes for the visually impaired despite a losing battle with cancer. They'll never forget the eight-year-old boy without arms or legs who fearlessly wielded a tennis racquet to propel a ball down the length of a room. And they'll be charmed by a rabbit named Cadberi who brings boundless joy to residents of a nursing home. Chicken Soup for the Volunteer's Soul will leave an indelible imprint on the heart of readers and inspire them to go forth and care for others.

Inspired to Volunteer.......2004-06-08
I just finished "Chicken Soup for the Volunteer Soul," which is an excellent and inspirational book. Also, a few weeks ago, I went on a Social and Service Justice Retreat. Since reading this book, making the retreat, and other inevitable signs, I feel inspired to find a place to volunteer.

I am a volunteer my self at the my cities animal shelter. And I am going to let the president of the volunteers borrow it after I am done. I hope they make more about volunteering.
An Insightful Invitation to Volunteers.......2003-01-11
I would recommend reading "Chicken Soup for the Volunteer's Soul" to anyone who has a sincere interest in his fellowmen and possesses the capacity to relate to the needs, sorrows, and joys of others. I was impressed by the work's intent, format, and content. The selections are comprehensive and meaningful, offering a wide range of volunteer experiences for the information, delight, compassion, and consideration to the book's readers. Hopefully, this publication will encourage countless individuals to find the necessary reason and desire to give of their own time, talents, and hearts to those in need in our society. For others, it will provide an understanding of the wonderful gifts of volunteering for the volunteer.
Thanks to everyone who read!.......2002-10-31
I contributed a story to this book about my daughter's tender heart for others. I have always been proud of her desire to help others and Chicken Soup gave me the opportunity to share it with the world. This book made me proud to be an American and to be allowed to live in this wonderful country that cares about it's neighbors. This collection of stories will enlighten anyone to give unselfishly to the needy or to those who have less. What a great feeling inside to be a part of it all!

Book Description
Marketing Management: A Strategic Decision-Making Approach 6th Edition concentrates on strategic decision making. This approach sets Mullins apart from other texts which place greater emphasis on description of marketing phenomena rather than on the strategic and tactical marketing decisions that managers and entrepreneurs must make each and every day. This 6th Edition continues to be the most current and internet-savvy book available, injecting the latest developments in internet-based communication and distribution technology into every chapter. Also, an entire chapter (Chapter 15) is devoted to the development of marketing strategies for the new economy. The author team’s rich entrepreneurial, marketing management, and consulting experience spans a broad variety of manufacturing, service, software, and distribution industries provides an abundance of real-world, global perspectives.

Customer Reviews:
Must have reference.......2007-02-16
If you are going to spend money, buy the best. This book is the best and IS the standard. I'd consider this the "Gray's Anatomy" of Applied Linear Statiscal Models (i.e. Design of Experiments, Regression, hypothesis testing).
This book is geared for an entry level masters or 400 level student. If you don't fall into this category, this could be worthwhile, just know you'll need to put more time in to learn the material...or...you could get a book geared toward your level. Vardeman's applied statistics for engineers would be one that comes to mind for subject matter that is geared for knowledge below KNNW's Applied Linear Statistical Models.
Bottom line is that this is a must have in anyone's library who is going to do statistical analysis using linear models. It's one of my (and most of my co-workers) go to books if we need to refresh on a quick method to approach a problem.
All in all, it covers all the basics and for the money is a great applied book.
Cheaper Versions Available.......2007-02-12
This hard-bound text was received in excellent condition and should last for as long as I plan on using it; however, there are cheaper versions (like the international version) that contain exactly the same information (plus additional information about ANOVA designs). I am still happy with my purchase, but if you are low on cash, I would recommend purchasing a different edition of this book.
the author don't know how to express in simple language.......2007-01-16
the author don't know how to express in simple and understandable language, although he know very well in this major. I have already read some other books of this major, it is still confusing me a lot to understand some sentences in this book.
Super ! .......2007-01-09
This book if not for business majors , engineering students and psycology students.
This is an EXCELLENT book for statistics undergrad/grad and PhD students.
I spent over 10 hours weekly just reading the book every week. Plus my assignments will take another 10 hours . So be prepared for a 20 hr week.
YOU NEED TO TAKE A BASIC STAT / INTRO STAT course before this. If you dont know the meaning of P-values , T-test , F-test , DO NOT TAKE THIS COURSE. This book will not introduce you to those things. Unfortunately many buiness schools ( including top 10 ) dont offer a good intro stat course, so buiness majors jumping in to this course is a wrong idea.
This book is also a "good to own book". The first 15 or so chapters has regression and the second half ( next 15 chapters ) has DOE (design of experiments). GREAT BOOK !
One piece of advice - make sure you learn to use SAS with this course . In real world applications many industries are using SAS. Even if your teacher insists on using R package / splus , YOU MAKE SURE YOU know how to do those things in SAS . There is a SAS student manual with this book, specially written for this book . buy it ISBN - 0-07-302177-6
good luck !
Popularly accepted regression text book.......2006-11-06
I bought this book because I needed it for a class, and I have only used it a few times for the class. It's hard to learn stats from a textbook unless you start at the beginning, but this book is useful to accompany a previously-knowledgeable statistics mind seeking to learn more about regression.
Great book, but probably will not help a rookie to self-teach regression.

Are You Kidding Me?.......2006-11-05
This is the worst textbook I have ever used is any class. The coverage of the topic is unclear and the practice questions are poorly worded. I can only hope that my school will find another text for teaching this subject.
Awful, just plain awful........2006-10-16
I find this to be a very interesting course, but it is made quite difficult by a single small problem: It is very hard to get an understanding of a field which is built upon a solid foundation of mathematics when the book you're using skips over this most crucial aspect.
It is great that I have answers to the odd problems and the in section examples, but with no work to guide me I am left frustrated and exhausted. Combined with 4 other classes, this leads to a tough time trying to figure out even simple concepts.
Find a better book unless you already have a thorough understanding of this material, you will NOT regret it.
Major, major problems.......2006-08-03
I originally started with the 6th edition...but there were no answers in the back, even for the odd-numbered problems. I asked the publisher and they said it was a policy. OK, that's dumb, but whatever.
Then I went to the 5th edition and got fairly far, but eventually got to a point where I couldn't solve one of the problems and the worthless examples weren't helping. (The examples are worthless because the question and answers are given, but the work isn't shown. Uh, hello--that's the point of examples.) The book has a certain surface readability but doesn't really explain the underlying issues very well. Chapter one is a good example of this: I knew cylindrical and spherical coordinates a lot better before this book confused me.
Then I got the 7th edition. I got as far as problem #17 in chapter one and found *4* errors (One simple typo in a problem, one answer somewhat off and two answers just out of the ballpark, flat out *wrong*).
The original author died 20 years ago--it is time for this book to be scrapped.
Book Description
In keeping with its bestselling previous editions, Fundamentals of Aerodynamics, fourth edition, offers the most readable, interesting, and up-to-date overview of aerodynamics to be found in any text. The classic organization of the text has been preserved, with new standalone viscous flow sections at the end of various chapters to conceptualize the coverage of this topic in part 4, and complement discussion of fundamental principles in part 1, inviscid incompressible flow in part 2, and inviscid compressible flow in part 3.
Historical topics, carefully developed examples, numerous illustrations, and a wide selection of chapter problems are found throughout the text to motivate and challenge students of aerodynamics.
Customer Reviews:
Excellent Book.......2007-03-19
"Fundamentals of Aerodynamics" is an excellent book by a knowledgeable author that provides the basic know-how and skills that an aeronautical engineer will find useful and helpful. The book is well written in a readable and easy to follow format that provides the reader with a comprehensive overview of aerodynamics. The author reinforced his message with numerous helpful examples and several illustrations which should help the reader to grasp the aerodynamics concepts and principles.
This is among the best aerodynamics books on the market for those studying the subject. You will find the aerodynamics concepts and theory well presented and explained.
This is recommended reading for those studying aeronautical engineering at undergraduate level. Practicing aeronautical engineers will also find the book to be a useful reference.
My Most-Used Aeronautics Reference Book.......2007-03-11
Over 5 years as an aerospace engineer at Boeing and Lockheed Martin, I have used this book far more than any other for aeronautics. This is not only a good textbook, but an excellent reference, and one of the few technical books I have found worth reading cover-to-cover. Many engineers simply say "look at Anderson" to find whatever answers you need.
A fun tour through aerodynamics if you like the math.......2007-02-28
Dr. Anderson's book is an excellent tool if you'd like to teach yourself aerodynamics and have the background in math to handle it (multivariable and vector calculus...get "Div, Grad, Curl, and All That" if you need a refresher). His derivations are very clear and his chapter maps provide a nice road guide to give you an idea of where you're going. This book is also very good at maintaining rigor in describing the limitations of the derivations, a necessary quality since a lot of us tend to forget that the results we see are only valid in certain circumstances (incompressible flow, irrotational flow, inviscid flow, etc.).
Very few downsides: a few typos and no answers to end-of-the-chapter problems.
Fantastic Aerodynamics Resource.......2007-02-16
5 Stars.
Fundamentals of Aerodynamics, by John D. Anderson, provides an excellent foundation in aerodynamics for engineers. Presented at the graduate or senior undergraduate level, this book covers all of the fundamentals in a student-friendly manner that also works well as a professional reference.
Dr. Anderson has quite a gift for placing information in appropriate contexts - both technically and historically. The book is well organized and promotes learning by laying a solid foundation and then building on that foundation. The sample problems presented through the chapters are clear and effective at illustrating important points.
Major topics include: Incompressible non-viscous flow, Compressible flow, and Viscous flow (including an introduction to boundary layers). Significant time is spent on potential flow theory and it's application to the prediction of lift and induced drag.
Also recommended for students of aeronautics are Dr. Anderson's other titles, including:
- Introduction to Flight
- Modern Compressible Flow with a Historical Perspective
- Introduction to Computational Fluid Dynamics
Outstanding.......2006-05-15
With no doubt this is the best Aerodynamics book for college students ever written...ever!Very clear explanations, full of examples and a good set of exercises to challenge your understanding of the subject. The only negative point is that there no answers to the problems.
Customer Reviews:
All you need.......2007-04-12
All you need for getting started with creating secure and reliable software is in this box. The three books cover from starting new software from the scratch to testing and verifying already deployed software. Sadly it relies too much on Cigital tools, but it's just a chapter, the rest of the stuff is gold.
Great reading for anyone interested in software security.
A good place to start with software security.......2006-03-28
There is some redundancy in the content of these three books, but I prefer to think of it as reinforcement. Each of the book focuses on a different aspect of the software security issue. From the full software development lifecycle to code creation to test, this set covers it all. I particularly enjoyed the "Exploiting Software" book as it provided an interesting insight into the other side of the development process - that of breaking the systems that have been developed. The box set is a great deal on Amazon since the price is about 30% less than buying the books individually so you basically buy 2 and get 1 free. And since all three are useful this is actually a good deal. I'm currently using the information from "Software Security: Building Security In" to drive a process improvement initiative within my company to improve secure development practices. The only reason this collection of books didn't get five stars is that there are times when the information is a bit vague with no indication of how to implement the "what" that is so well covered.
If you're just getting into software security, I highly recommend buying the box set. You'll learn more about software security just by reading the forewords of these three books than most people have ever learned. And it just gets better from there.
The "Software Security: Build Security In" book has a strong emphasis on the overall software development process, but manages to provide an approach to introducing software security that is process agnostic. This book is moderately useful to an individual programmer, but a wealth of information for someone initiating (or trying to initiate) changes into existing processes or working to develop a software development process.
The "Building Secure Software: How to Avoid Security Problems the Right Way" book focuses much more on the knowledge that an individual developer or team of developers should know to correctly build software. This book is a bit more hands-on as well.
I've already mentioned the "Exploiting Software" book and in many ways it's my favorite of the three. One of the biggest problems I've seen with implementing software security changes is that most people don't understand the nature of the threat. They are so used to thinking of their software development efforts in the face of a friendly user who may occasionally make mistakes rather than someone who actively seeks to break their software. This book shows many of the vulnerabilities that occur in development and provides examples of why they are a problem. There is a particularly good coverage of buffer overflows toward the end of the book.

Great book.......2007-06-20
If you conduct training sessions, this series of books is awesome. Lots of ideas that can be implemented in numerous ways. Buy the whole series.
Superb resource book.......2007-05-03
I had this series of books before - loaned them out at work and never got them back (go figure!). Happy to have found them again here.
First things first - terminal performance objectives, audience analysis.......2006-05-02
....
This book can be very helpful if you've done your homework about the performance needs and the audience first.
IF YOU
Identify what specific on the job performance needs exist for the audience; and whether and how to address those needs through a training session, and
Identify the characteristics of the audience so you know what appeals to them in a training session,
THEN
Select games from this book if they are appropriate to the terminal (on the job) performance objectives and audience analysis.
This book won't do that for you.
Nor tell you how.
Nor even tell you whether.
pvitkus@wizdom.com
I like it!.......2001-03-09
So many training guides merely compile the same old activities that have been circulating forever. I was glad to see some really unique activities in here (even though it first came out twenty years ago!). I also found the trainer's introduction pertinent and helpful.
If you work in an international context, you'll be especially pleased. Many of the other game compilations have activities that are language (puns, play on words) or culture (trivia) based. This volume seems relatively free of such nonsense.
It's not the sexiest book you'll pick up. The format and design are simple, even stark. Nevertheless, for sheer fun for your buck, you'll have a hard time beating it.
Games Trainers Play.......2001-01-13
I was really looking forward to getting this book and was so disappointed when I got it. I don't see how anyone could rate it at 5 stars. It was dry and boring. There are better books out there than this one. I even met Ed Scannell last year in Austin. I'm just gled that he is not as boring as the book.
