Book Description
In an era of mixed media messages, in which brands are extended to the breaking point and complex marketing theories compete for attention, it is more difficult than ever to create effective brands. Allen Adamson offers a refreshingly simple solution: Bring back the basics of good branding and ensure success. Build a brand on a good idea that you test. Make sure the design and message of your brand fits the brand's true meaning, and stay away from unnecessary and complicated strategies. Drawing on his years of experience working with some of the world's top brands, from GE to IBM, Adamson shows how to communicate with customers and make your brand resonate. He also gives a behind-the-scenes look at his work with traditional names like Maxwell House as well as newcomers like JetBlue and iPod, explaining what they do right--and wrong.
Customer Reviews:
Loved the book.......2007-08-25
Adamson writes in a down to earth fashion about branding. I loved the examples that were given. This is a must read for the marketing strategist. This should be used in the classroom at B-schools around the country.
Hmmm not that good........2007-05-16
I sincerely expected more about this book since it provides perspective of the agency to client's work. Is informative but not very inspiring.
Simply Said........BrandSimple should be required reading. .......2007-02-19
Having spun my storytelling skills from broadcasting and print to the corporate world, I often questioned whether I was looking at things through the same lens as those that had spent their entire careers in marketing. I'd seen the 300 page briefs on my client's desks and wondered whether there was something they knew that I didn't - why it all appeared to be so complicated.
I picked up BrandSimple questioning whether I was on the right track and put it down, with complete confidence that "Simple" is better. Allen Adamson lifts the curtain and reveals the wizardry behind some of the world's best branding campaigns and proves that what we do isn't magic, it's simply a matter of listening to our client's stories - finding the right words to tell them - and then making sure the client makes good on their promise.
I plan on giving Allen's book to every client that wonders why I ask so many questions before developing a creative campaign, so they'll understand that those 6 words that make up a tagline are more than just a phrase........but their story.
BrandSimple should be required reading for anyone that's interested in a career in branding. At the very least, universities should consider attaching it to every diploma they hand out to advertising and marketing graduates. It's a gift that will absolutely launch their students in the right direction.

Constant Reminder - Simple Wins.......2007-02-05
Allen's message and supporting stories are dead-on right, keep it simple stupid. Too many brand owners, brand managers and business managers seem to believe that branding is a complicated. This could not be farther from the truth and this book makes the case that focus and sticking to the basics will win every time. BrandSimple is one of those books which anyone who has any brand interaction should read every year as a reminder that the basics win.
This is THE brand book to read.......2007-02-03
I've just finished reading BrandSimple and thoroughly enjoyed it. The book is engaging, well structured, devoid of hyperbole and one can't argue with the Allen Adamson's reasoning. If you have to choose one book on brand this is the best one I've read.

If you think buying a home with Mr. Maybe is a good way to determine if he's Mr. Right, hold everything. In Judge Judy's latest round of advice, Keep it Simple, Stupid: You're Smarter Than You Look, she tells you to keep it all separate until you tie the knot legally. Touching on all of life's challenging family situations, from dating and marriage to caring for elderly parents and losing loved ones, America's favorite judge ultimately encourages us to plan ahead and avoid unnecessarily complicating our lives.
Much of what she delivers we've all heard a thousand times before, but for some readers her renowned matter-of-fact tone is the ideal voice to reaffirm these commonsense solutions. "Life is a one-shot deal," she says. "There are only so many seconds, minutes, hours, days, and years. Every second you devote to negative energy and negative emotion is a second lost forever."
Carefully excerpted conversations between feuding family members lay the groundwork for each chapter. For instance, when Jimmy, trying to help his brother's failing marriage, inadvertently invites them to tag along on his anniversary trip to Hawaii, Jimmy's wife, Joanne, hits the roof. Judge Judy's response is simply put:
Jimmy, you're clueless. While you're so busy trying to save your brother's marriage, your wife is getting ready to pack her bags. Your brother and his wife can mend their marriage at another locale. It doesn't have to be Hawaii. Besides, since when do husbands make social plans? It's not unreasonable for Joanne to want to celebrate a special anniversary alone, and that's what you should do.
With the no-nonsense attitude and cut-to-the-chase style of a woman who has seen and heard everything, Judge Judy Sheindlin continues to help us solve our most complicated life problems and find ways to keep it simple. --Phyllis Monroe
Book Description
Today's definition of family is completely unrecognizable from what it was forty, thirty, even twenty years ago. Into the chaos that has become typical of the modern American family, judge Judy Sheindlin attempts to bring some order. With Keep It Simple, Stupid, Judge Judy addresses how convoluted family life has become. The traditional nuclear family has expanded to include exes and parents of exes, merging families, stepchildren, lovers, adopted children, in-laws the list goes on and on.
Complex issues naturally arise from the enlarged families into which we're born. There is the ex-wife who wants more child support from husband number one so she can stay home with new baby by husband number two. There are the parents who gave their daughter thirty thousand dollars as a wedding gift only to watch the marriage quickly crumble and their former son-in-law claim half the money. How about the adult son who runs out on his kids, leaving his parents to pay his child support? When it comes to families, Judge Judy has seen it all in her courtroom, and she knows stupidity when she sees it.
Tackling all the explosive issues that drive families crazy -- and into court -- Judge Judy shares her on-target, brutally honest thoughts on the chaos that is characteristic of today's American family and gives no-holds-barred advice on how to resolve conflicts and repair relationships.
Customer Reviews:
Judge Judy Best Writer!.......2006-03-21
Judge Judy tells it all and tells it straight. Once I read this book I read another one of her books, Don't Pee On My Leg and Tell Me It's Raining. You will never find another book as easy to read and meaningful as this. It makes you think and makes you realize how you should be as a person, the things worth complaining about and the things that are just a waste of time. Try them out, you won't be disappointed!
She Does It Again!.......2006-02-28
She is so down to earth, and her advice is all common sense, its just so easy. Can't understand why others have to make it so hard.
A Funny Show -- I Don't Think So!.......2005-09-20
On her televison court show, Judge Judy is outrageous, rude and not always fair. She does not have an open mind and humiliates and verbally abuses some of her hand-picked victims. Her theatrics area a bit overdone, as she's playing to the camera, and treats those gullible enough to make a fool our of themselves in public with disdain and having a tantrum while calling them names. But, then, she is a New Yorker!
Her ten rules for family harmony are as follows: 1) If you call this committed, you should be committed to a mental hospital. 2) Ten times measure, one time cut. 3) If life were fair, men would have the stretch marks and the babies. 4) Having a baby is easy (it wasn't for me the three times, I can assure you!) ; being a parent is hard. 5) When things don't work out, move on. Now that's progressive. 6) Love your kids and honor your parents (who does these days?) 7) For better (not worse) or forget about it. 8) Where there's a will, there's a way. 9) You're smarter than you look. 10) You're a fool to be on her show and be a guinea pig.
The cartoons by Bob Tore are a cute touch to a silly book. The one with pregnant woman dressed in a t-shirt dress with "Yours" over her bulging middle reminded me of a cover-up I wore before my 'love child' was born in 1974; on the pocket, I'd sewed the patch saying "I ate the whole thing." It caused a few laughs.)
She calls it 'fraud' (now we know why Renee, the actress, used that as an abortion reason to divorce Kenny Chesney, the country singer) if a wife palms off a newborn on an impotent husband by not telling him the truth -- it wasn't his biological child. The eyes tell the truth and show your soul.
Love doesn't conquer all; you need ground rules, too. A marriage certificate is just a piece of paper, but you'll need it if you live long enough to apply for Social Security. She has written BEAUTY FADES, DUMB IS FOREVER, YOU CAN'T JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS COVER and WIN OR LOSE BY HOW YOU CHOOSE. She's just like Yankee Mary Jane who talks too much and emphasizes her Yonkers accent.
Judge Judy Tells It Like It Is!.......2005-06-03
Not as entertaining as her TV show. But this book is still worth a quick read, especially it you are getting married, getting divorced or otherwise facing one of the major life issues that Judge Judy addresses in this book.
Just plain Judy, and that's that!.......2005-02-23
Ok, you've spent some time browsing around in the book store or the library and all of a sudden this pops out at you. Hey, you really enjoy the TV show, "Judge Judy", so will I enjoy this? You take your chances. I'm glad I took my chances. It was kind of like reading the "Dear Abby" section, but hearing both sides of the story, then hearing Judy's opinion. Issues concerning marriage, kids, parents, and what-not. I usually get a good laugh from reading the "Dear Abby" section in the paper because I feel if you actually have to have someone like that to solve your problems, there's no hope for you. So the title of this book was completely appropriate. But in being fair, some of the questions were actually legitimate.
Hey, lots of people love Judge Judy because she tells it like it is. She still does in her book! She still doesn't hold anything back. Way to go!

Beware of Blind Anti-AA Propagandists.......2007-07-28
If you see a review for this literature (which is helpful in maintaining a daily spiritual focus) that denounces AA, just know that there are many ignorant people who oppose AA and call it a cult. It actually does not qualify as a cult by definition. The real fact is that the cult-like focus on sobriety is a good thing for those who have become enslaved by substance abuse. AA is the "milk" that brings them to the "meat" of the issue-spirituality. The Big Book of AA talks about God a great deal of the time, prepares people to have an encounter with Him, and says that is the purpose of the book. Drunks will otherwise never encounter God. This book helps those of us who are staying sober also stay mentally healthy, unlike those who would criticize the thing that is helping us. Do they also not believe in doctors?
KEEP IT REAL!!!!.......2007-04-10
The truth is that a newly-sober alcoholic named William Griffith Wilson -- a down-on-his-luck former Wall Street hustler who put on airs of having once been a prosperous stock broker -- just sat down, in December of 1938, and wrote up twelve commandments for the new religious group that he and fellow alcoholic Doctor Robert Smith had started. Those commandments were simply a repackaged version of the practices of a cult religion that was popular at that time, something called "The Oxford Group", or "The Oxford Group Movement", and later, "Moral Re-Armament" -- a religious cult that was created by a deceitful fascist renegade Lutheran minister named Dr. Frank Nathan Daniel Buchman -- a nut-case who actually praised Adolf Hitler and Heinrich Himmler.
Bill Wilson described the writing of the Twelve Steps this way:
Well, we finally got to the point where we really had to say what this book was all about and how this deal works. As I told you this had been a six-step program then.
The idea came to me, well, we need a definite statement of concrete principles that these drunks can't wiggle out of. There can't be any wiggling out of this deal at all and this six-step program had two big gaps which people wiggled out of.
Notice how Bill Wilson considered his fellow alcoholics to be a bunch of cheaters who will "wiggle out of this deal" if they can get away with it -- which Bill won't allow.
And note how Bill Wilson made himself the leader who was entitled to dictate the concrete terms of other people's recovery programs.
Also notice how Bill Wilson considered 'spiritual development' to be a business deal, with a contract that you can't wiggle out of, something like selling your soul in trade for sobriety.
Nowhere in the Twelve Steps does it say that you should quit drinking, or help anyone else to quit drinking, either. Nowhere do the words "sobriety", "recovery", "abstinence", "health", "happiness", "joy", "love", or "love", appear in the Twelve Steps. The word "alcohol" was only mentioned once, where it was patched into the first step as a substitute for the word "sin" -- Bill Wilson wrote,
"we are powerless over alcohol and our lives have become unmanageable",
instead of the Oxford Group slogan,
"we are powerless over sin and have been defeated by it".
And then the phrase "especially alcoholics" was patched into the 12th step as a suggested target for further recruiting efforts:
"...we tried to carry this message to others, especially alcoholics"...
(But regular non-alcoholic people were still fair game for recruiting into Bill's "spiritual fellowship"...)
The Twelve Steps are not a formula for curing or treating alcoholism, and they never were.
The Twelve Steps are not "spiritual principles" and they never were.
The Twelve Steps are cult practices that work to convert people into confirmed true believers in a proselytizing cult religion, just like Frank Buchman's so-called "spiritual principles" did.
1. The Twelve Steps do not work as a program of recovery from drug or alcohol problems.
The A.A. failure rate ranges from 95% to 100%. Sometimes, the A.A. success rate is actually less than zero, which means that A.A. indoctrination is positively harmful to people, and prevents recovery. Some tests have shown that even receiving no treatment at all for alcoholism is much better than receiving A.A. treatment:
One of the most enthusiastic boosters of Alcoholics Anonymous, Professor George Vaillant of Harvard University, who is also a member of the Board of Trustees of Alcoholics Anonymous World Services, Inc. (AAWS), showed by his own 8 years of testing of A.A. that A.A. was worse than useless -- that it didn't help the alcoholics any more than no treatment at all, and it had the highest death rate of any treatment program tested -- a death rate that Professor Vaillant himself described as "appalling". While trying to prove that A.A. treatment works, Professor Vaillant actually proved that A.A. kills. After 8 years of A.A. treatment, the score with Dr. Vaillant's first 100 alcoholic patients was: 5 sober, 29 dead, and 66 still drinking.
(Nevertheless, Vaillant is still a Trustee of Alcoholics Anonymous, and he still wants to send all alcoholics to A.A. anyway, to "get an attitude change by confessing their sins to a high-status healer." That is cult religion, not a treatment program for alcoholism.)
The A.A. dropout rate is terrible. Most people who come to A.A. looking for help in quitting drinking are appalled by the narrow-minded atmosphere of fundamentalist religion and faith-healing. The A.A. meeting room has a revolving door. The therapists, judges, and parole officers (many of whom are themselves hidden members of A.A. or N.A.) continually send new people to A.A., but those newcomers vote with their feet once they see what A.A. really is. Even A.A.'s own triennial surveys, conducted by the A.A. headquarters (the GSO), say that:
81% of the newcomers are gone within 30 days,
90% are gone in 3 months, and
95% are gone at the end of a year.
That automatically gives A.A. a failure rate of at least 95%. But the GSO does not count all of those people who only attend a few meetings before quitting -- they don't qualify as "members". (That amounts to "cherry-picking".) If we included them, then the numbers would be much worse.
First there is the propaganda technique of "everybody's doing it": "AA or a similar Twelve-Step program is an integral part of almost all successful recoveries".
That is a complete falsehood. The vast majority of the successful people recover without A.A. or any "support group". It's what "everybody" is doing.
Then they use the propaganda techniques of use of the passive voice and vague suggestions: "It is widely believed that not including a Twelve-Step program in a treatment plan can put a recovering addict on the road to relapse."
It is widely believed by whom? And what do those unnamed people know? What are their qualifications? Are they doctors? Medical school professors? Or salesmen for a 12-Step treatment center? Why should we care what some unnamed invisible fools allegedly believe, anyway?
The authors also use the propaganda technique of fear-mongering: you will be "on the road to relapse" -- you will probably die -- unless you practice Bill Wilson's Twelve Step cult religion.
And then the fluff-headed Pollyanna attitude is outrageous: Just going to the wonderful A.A. meetings is supposedly all that is needed to fix some alcoholics.
But since A.A. has a zero-percent success rate above and beyond the normal rate of spontaneous remission, that cannot possibly be true
Good information for this alcoholic........2007-03-12
I find reminders and inspiration in the pages of this book. Giving me information to continue on the road of recovery.
Wonderful Book.......2006-08-13
This is a wonderful book for daily use in recovery. Daily meditation is powerful in the healing process and can act as a guide through our 24 hours sober. Remember thats all sobrity is is 24 hours sober. Best of wishes and enjoy your daily journey of recovery one step at a time. Highly recommended.
Good Daily Reader.......2002-03-31
I purchased this reader for someone just starting out with a 12 step program. I couldn't get this person to attend daily nor weekly meetings BUT, I could get them to read this daily reader. After just a few weeks of committing to this reader, they have now found the courage to start attending meetings. I can speak rather highly of most if not all of the Hazelden publications!
Another great book is "The Language Of Letting Go" by Melody Beattie. This too is a wonderful daily reader that, can help with those times when life just seems too heavy. I've lived under the tree of therapy professionals now for 23 years so, trust me when I tell you, you can't go wrong with either of these books.

Kiss Guide to Kama Sutra.......2007-05-23
This book was very educational and my partner and I learned a lot about each other
Better books out there.......2005-03-05
Although this book is fine for someone who hasn't experimented a lot with different sexual positions, I've found others that are more helpful, interesting, and well written. The positions are just that, with too much other stuff thrown in and not enough about the actual position. My suggestions instead would be Sex and the Perfect Lover: Tao, Tantra, and the Kama Sutra. Everything this book has, but much more, and better explanations of the positions.
Easy to read, fun, sexy book.......2004-08-24
I enjoyed this book very much. The format is very easy to read, lots of fun, and simply informative. It's fairly thick, but a regular size t oeasily fit in your nightstand. The nudity is not vulgar. If I remember correctly, all you see is breasts and butts, no genitals. So, if that offends you, avoid this book. Also, check out Pure Sex. This author is amazing!
Great book!!!.......2004-05-12
I was very pleased by this book. It is printed on a quality paper, with a lot of colorful pictures and photographs. It does not only writes and shows Kamasutra positions, but it talks about its history, sex in generally, it gives you lot of tips and references. It covers so much, that I don't need to buy any other books.
review.......2003-02-21
I found the photographs in this book to be somewhat disturbing. Not because of the nature, but because the people invoved seemed to be miserable. There is very little prose in the book.

Differentiates between New Age and Scientific Feng Shui.......2007-06-18
Whew! Thank you for delivering a book that sets apart the American "New Age" Feng Shui from the Traditional Chinese Feng Shui derived from Science and Math.
Feng Shui is more than rearranging furniture and hanging mirrors. This book delves into the history, the reasoning, common sense, and the scientific.
It explains that BELIEF and CULTURE is the reasoning for hanging bagua mirrors and other remedies-a physical reminder in the home of tradition. Much like wearing a cross pendant is the ever present reminder of Christian faith. It makes no sense at all for people to hang flutes from their ceilings if they don't know why they are doing it-although this book does explain the mythology and reasoning involved.
Far more valuable are the chapters explaining the calculation of your personal Kua number, the use of a Lo Pan, and other Compass School information.
The history detailed makes a nice backdrop for the information, though if you're impatient you can skip it and not be lost when you get to the meat of the book.
I've had this book for years and its served me well as a reference for when I go apartment hunting. I also reference it when designing floor plans for my dream home-a long term hobby of mine.
Great book, laid out well and informative. [..] . I highly recommend KISS Feng Shui as a resource that delivers on scientific feng shui and common sense, while putting "American New Age/Black Hat/Intuitive" Feng Shui in its place.
Not so simple.......2006-03-22
I'm still trying to get into this book. There is a lot of subject matter with mulitple origins, interpretations and applications of feng shui. Whew! I'm not finding this KISS publication to be that simple. However, lots of info and pictures!
Fabulous, Fun, and Practical Guide to Using Feng Shui1.......2003-07-31
The Keep it Simple Series distinguishes itself from other series like the Idiot and Dummie Guides by its extensive use of color and photographs. However, the superior content far outweighs the appealing cosmetics of the book's layout and design. In a nutsell, Stephen Skinner knows what he's talking about. In fact, he's a world renowned expert in the field as well as the author of one of my favorite feng shui books, The Living Earth Manual of Feng Shui. In his KISS book, Stephen provides an excellent overview of what feng shui is and how it can help you maximize your health, wealth, and relationships. It's well-organized and easy to read. Impliment his practical advice and you'll witness first hand feng shui's power. A thousand kow tows Stephen for elevating this Chinese practice! Nice work.
Harmony and Happiness.......2002-06-11
According to this book, my desk is in the wrong place. Although I have no choice, I've noticed I'm more edgy with the door behind me and when someone enters my office, I feel that if I was sitting with my back towards the wall, I would feel more comfortable and in control of my environment. My only problem is having to look at the computer wires, which would annoy me more.
So, I think there is something to be said for furniture placement, when practical.
Being of the thought process that there is something to be learned from everything, you can try to take what you need from this book to help encourage an environment you will feel comfortable in.
The Chapters Include:
What is Feng Shui? - Wind Water, a connection to natural elements. "Flow"
is also an important element. It is not a religion or magic.
Who Does Feng Shui and Why?
A Look at Feng Shui's History
Gods, Graves, and Feng Shui Masters
Ch'i and Alignments
The Building Blocks of Feng Shui
Chinese Cosmology
The Trigrams and the Lo Shu

Some of the ideas I incorporated into my own home without even knowing they were Feng Shui concepts was the use of mirrors. It does definitely create a feeling of energy in a room that would otherwise feel closed in.
If you are very, very serious about Feng Shui or extremely curious, this book has more than you will ever want to know.
My thoughts.......2002-05-06
I found the book to be a little bit boring. I wanted to know how to change my home to fit into the Feng Shui philosophy and it gave me more of a background of Feng Shui. That is great, I am glad I know all of that now, but I didn't find any practical ways to change my home.

Best Dog book ever.......2004-08-24
I can't say enough about this book, I have seen many dog books but this one is the best by far because it has everything you could need to know. I expecially lov eth what to do in an emergency section. It saved my dogs life! The training section is great because it has several ways to do things. This is the best book you can get, if you get no other book get this one, for your puppys sake.
The BEST Puppy Resource.......2004-07-04
This is an EXCEPTIONAL resource that stacks up to a mountain of other books, videos, and friendly advice from just about everyone.
Before buying this book (on impulse during a pre-adoption "scouting mission" for equipment at a local pet store), I'd already acquired a half-dozen dog books, and as many videos (along with umpteen recordings of dog training shows on Animal Planet). I was not feeling the slightest need for another resource on how to raise our new dog. Until this very thorough work caught my eye.
This book is superbly clear, well organized, and visually entertaining. It trumps everything else in my substantial library of resources. (Okay, okay. Yes, I was afraid I'd screw up the little wonder's life -- and mine in the process.)
Ms. Palika addresses virtually every conceivable issue clearly and directly. Her well-crafted advice is presented in a very appealing, inviting format that has become the publisher's trademark.
The book's Table of Contents and index make quickly accessing vital information fast and easy in this well-structured handbook. Not only will you easily find what you're looking for, you'll get specific, understandable, definitive guidance when you land there.
Whether you are about to adopt a puppy, or already brought one into your life, you need competent guidance. If you could only buy one book on raising your puppy -- easily and happily -- into a successful lifetime companion, without question this is the ONE.
If you are getting a puppy? GET this book!.......2004-07-02
I bought this book yesterday 7/1/04 and I bought it much higher at a pet store and it's worth EVERY penny! This book is OUTSTANDING! It's so simple to read and understand. It has gorgeous color pictures of REAL dogs and no cartoon pictures. It's so easy to read and understand. The pages are beautiful the information is fabulous. If you are getting a new puppy please BUY this book you will NOT be dissapointed. It covers everything from Do you really want a puppy? Down to why do puppies do that? It's a must have! I am picking up my puppy today and will have this book in my hand all the way to the checkout counter!
Adorable Puppies.......2003-10-23
If you are thinking about buying a new puppy, this is an excellent resource. If you walk past a pet store and see a cute puppy, you might want to read this book first. There are excellent ideas like bringing a puppy home on a day when you will be home the next day or maybe for the weekend.
Puppy proofing a house is also a great idea. Especially since "chewing on everything" is an expression of basic canine hunting instincts. Do you have a baby gate? You might want to buy one. There are grooming supplies, cleaning supplies and toys to think about. I had never considered the danger of electric cords. You mean they chew on those too? Yikes.
This book was truly enlightening. For example, you should not buy a puppy that is not at least 9 weeks old because there is a "critical fear" period in which puppies who are frightened for any reason will become a lifelong fear. Even a car ride or a trip to the Vet could make them afraid of Vet visits and car rides.
The Main Sections:
So You Want a Puppy - Are you ready for a new puppy? How to decide on the type of dog you want to own. There are more than 400 dog breeds to choose from. There is also information on the types of breeds that require more frequent grooming. Do you want an active breed like a Shih Tzu or a laid-back breed like a Golden Retriever.
Bringing Home Your New Best Friend - All the essentials. What you should do before bringing a new puppy home and how to set household rules, prepare for housetraining and the essential first 24 hours. Do you have any poisonous plants in your yard? Is your fence secure enough to prevent escapes? How do you housetrain? Some great ideas about "not using newspapers" because apparently this is a bad idea in the long run!
Your Puppy's Health - Everything from the first visit to the vet to what your puppy should eat. Also helpful information for emergencies. There is a lot to think about in this chapter including vaccinations, spaying and neutering.
How to Train Your Puppy - Interesting tips on how to be your puppy's teacher. How you can use training to avoid trouble. If you don't want your puppy to chew on his leash, you can simply dip it in vinegar. There are simple ways to show your puppy you are the leader of the pack. Liz Palika also gives "Ten Simple Principles for Successful Training." You start with the basics and then work your way into "boundary training."
More to Do... and Learn - What are the beset games and toys? Also a section on "Why Does My Puppy do That?" You will find out some creative ways to get a puppy to stop barking.
If you are trying to decide between owning a cat or a dog, this book will defiantly help you see if you are a "cat OR dog" person. You might be both.
KISS books have so many great extras and pictures. You will find Trivia, definitions and website addresses. The pictures in this KISS book are especially cute.
A must-read for anyone thinking about adopting a new puppy.

puppy readiness 101.......2003-03-19
This is an excellent book for someone thinking of bringing a puppy into the home. A realistic and helpful guide this is different from the Idiot's and Dummmies series in that it is much easier to leaf through. The color coded sections make it easy to flip to a section you need and the pictures are awsome (as with any dk book!) Liz Palika's advice and knowledge are excellent and I know I feel better armed for puppy rearing with this book on my shelf.

Book Description
International best-selling author Elaine St. James offers up a new collection of simple tips to help you minimize life's chaos. Her commonsense solutions will have you breathing a deep sigh of relief as you ask yourself, "Why didn't I think of that'"A compilation of the best ideas from St. James's previous five books, plus important new material, 365 Simple Reminders is a wonderful, witty guide that will lead you back to a less-complicated way of life. St. James's advice includes: - Sell the damn boat.- Be selective about giving out your E-mail address.- Make water your drink of choice.- Never remodel.- If you must remodel, don't live in your home while it's being remodeled.- Get rid of all but one or two of your credit cards.- Always sit down to eat.- Beware of exercise equipment, fire your personal trainer, and go take a walk.- If you can't pay for it in full by the end of the month, don't buy it.- Slow down to the posted speed limit.- Replace your lawn with low-maintenance, drought-tolerant ground cover.- If it's not working, stop doing it.- Resign from any organization whose meetings you dread.- Show your kids how to manage their own space and stuff.- Never allow a ringing phone to interrupt a meal with your family. Her thoughts are a straightforward and powerful recipe for getting rid of the unnecessary, life-cluttering tasks we find ourselves doing without pausing to ask why.

a recycled book.......2006-02-07
I was disappointed with this book. I knew it would have bits from the author's previous books plus new words of wisdom. But each page only had one sentence of advice. I thought she'd write a little bit about each suggestion like in her previous books. i'm glad I bought this book used. Otherwise it was a waste of money for me.

I have found many of these "Life's Instruction Book" type of items to be new-agey or over sentimental.
The inclusions in this book are straight-forward, and many cause a little chuckle or two. I wouldn't hesitate to give this book to my cynical friends and family.
I bought a couple of books and included them in gifts for my stressed family or tense friends. It should help everyone get in touch with the simplier pleasures in life, without being hokey or sappy.

Quick Look At GarageBand.......2007-03-15
'Keep It Simple with Garageband: Easy Music Projects for Beginners' by Keith Gemmell is exactly what it says, a quick overview of the Apple GarageBand software. If you use an Apple computer and want to learn how to play with music -- editing, mixing, etc then this is a nice guide for the basics of how to do just that. Brevity is the #1 descriptor at 89 pages but this is doesn't necessarily mean a book is bad or not useful!
Concise and clear, if you want to get your feet wet with GarageBand and learn how to have more fun with music on your Apple, pick up this book and you won't be disappointed!!
