EDUCATING YOURSELF ABOUT FASTING.......2007-04-10
WHEN I BOUGHT THIS BOOK I THOUGH I WAS GETTING A GUIDE TO MAKE JUICES INCLUDING RECIPES THAT WILL HELP US WITH FASTING AND DETOXIFICATION. BUT INSTEAD I GOT A GUIDE TO FAST USING DIFFERENT APPROACHES WHICH INCLUDED ABOUT 5 PAGES OF A BASIC INTRODUCTION TO FASTING WITH JUICES. THE REST IS ALL ABOUT FASTING ITS BENEFICTS AND CONSECUENCES. I FOUND THE BOOK PRETTY INTERESTING IF I WERE GOING TO MASTER MY SELF IN THE FASTING STYLE OF LIFE. BUT IN MY CASE I FOUND IT PRETTY FUSTRATING NOT BEING ABLE TO FIND A SINGLE JUICE RECIPE TO HELP ME DETOXIFY MY BODY. SHE IS MAKING AN STATEMENT BUT DON'T GIVE ME EXAMPLES TO FOLLOW.
Juice fasting for beginners.......2007-03-25
This is a great introduction to those new to the concept of juice fasting for detoxification that is scientifically and nutritionally souhd.

an old dog, new tricks1.......2007-09-27
I've been a cook for 'bout 40 years.
However in this book I learned a lot.
My husband is an Internist in Medicine,
so our family has been into healthy
eating for a lifetime.
You certainly make my healthy cooking
easy.

Unreasonable format.......2007-05-14
A total waste of my money.
The format of the cookbook was confusing and frustrating--organized according to the season of the year, which may seem like a nice idea, but unrealistic. Trying to find something nice to cook for the evening's meal meant searching thru each season and then searching the dinners-only for that season. Finally, there just weren't many recipes offered.
I wish I could have returned the book, but then I'd have to pay shipping again and it just wasn't worth the time & effort.
Very Good recipes.......2007-05-09
This has a lot of great ideas for recipes that I intend to try. Very good book.
Great if you like Tofu!.......2007-05-07
The book looks great on the outside however many of the recipes are vegan style or tofu related.
REAL EASY AND YUMMY.......2007-04-17
The recipes in this book are indeed delicious and easy and I feel better when I eat the RealAge way. In fact, since eating this way I have more energy and my arthritis seems better. I only really have time to cook on weekends and one night a week but thankfully my husband helps on the other days. I just wish I had more time to cook but when I do I turn to this book as a guide! Customer Reviews:
if you only buy one book, buy this one.......2007-09-22
I bought this week 2 weeks after my laparoscopy, on the same day I had my follow up appt with my gyno, who told me I had endometriosis. My gyno could not get me out of her office quick enough, and couldnt answer any of my questions like 'does it come back? how do i stop it coming back? how do i manage the symptoms? what are my options?' The only thing she could tell me is that it was pretty certain i would be seeing her on a yearly basis for regular laps. Needless to say, i am finding a new gyno, but I still needed answers.
Dian's book answered all of my questions and more. The detailed information in the book on the body, the nervous system, the digestive system, and how everything was affected by endo, made perfect sense alongside the symptoms i have been suffering without explanation or end in sight. I had already been trying to eat well, but her strict dietary suggestions were what i needed to start and commit to a whole new way of eating.
4 weeks later, ive lost 5 kilos, my pelvic pain is gone, my digestive problems are easing, and ive just had my first period since the lap, which i was warned would be longer, painful, heavier than normal - nothing! No pms symptoms, no cravings, nothing! i guess this is what normal feels like! its fantastic. I know ive got a ways to go, but for the first time in years, i have answers and soolutions, and i am actually getting better and going forward, not backward. its a nice feeling.
This book is wonderful!.......2007-01-20
Although I have not had a laproscopy, my doctor strongly suspects that I have endometriosis. Faced with monthly vicodin, missed work, hormone therapy, and future surgery, I was deperate to find a better way. This book filled in a lot of gaps for me about the disease in general, and gave suggestions for a possible nutritional connection (and certain food allergies/intolerances). My doctor was extremely skeptical and dismissive, but I decided to give it a try anyway. I've been on a wheat-free diet for three months now, and the difference in the severity of pain and other symptoms is amazing. I would strongly recommend this book for anyone with endometriosis. I now feel empowered, and that I am finally in control of this disease.
Didn't get much out of it.......2007-01-09
Sorry, but I didn't get much out of this one. Hard to read and boring.
Worth the read.......2006-12-31
My wife has endometriosis I have found this book to be extremely informative and helpful. We feel more empowered and in control of the disease now that we have a better understanding of it.
Informative Textbook.......2006-12-28
I'm halfway through the book and glad I made the investment. The information is excellent and VERY infomative. Going to doctors, scouring the internet and reading other endo books leaves a great deal of information gaps. The book is in many ways a textbook covering the human body in relation to endometriosis.
That being said, there is a lot of antidotal evidence and, in my opinion, debatable nutrition information. The devistation that endometriosis can bring is overwhelming and it leads many of us to become desprite for relief. My doctor, a leading endometriosis researcher, STONGLY disagreed with much of the nutritional information (he said that it wouldn't hurt you, just don't expect it to fix all your problems). After saying that, I still found that the book increased my knowledge tremendously and offers the despirate endo sufferer an alternative option when nothing else is working.
Book Description
The Presence Process is not about changing who or what we are. This is impossible. Instead, it is about releasing our attachment to our manufactured identity so that we may gently return to an awareness of our authentic Presence. It is about moving from pretence to Presence. It is about consciously connecting with that aspect of our Being that always remains constant. It is about honoring that aspect of our Being that is always present. It is not about becoming something or somebody else. It is about remembering and experiencing who and what we really are and have always been.
The Presence Process is not about changing the nature of what the stars have marked on our forehead, hands, and feet. It is about waking into the fullest potential of each moment that is already destined. It is about responding to our life as it is unfolding right now and not reacting to it as if something else was supposed to be happening. The Presence Process intends to reveal to us that our mistaken desire to change what is happening to us in any given moment is usually born out of an inability to show up and fully enjoy the wonder of our life experience as it is right now.
The Presence Process awakens within us the awareness that it is in the nature of our interaction with what is happening to us right now that we sow the seeds for what is to come beyond the borders of this life experience. It assists us to see that the quality of the seeds that we sow in any given moment is very different depending on whether we choose to react or to respond to our experiences. Reacting to our experience means that we are making our decisions based on what we think happened to us yesterday and what we think may happen to us tomorrow. We are only responding to our experience when we make choices based on what is happening to us right here, right now. It is only possible to respond to our experiences when we unlearn the behaviors and belief systems that lead us into reaction. This "unlearning" is what The Presence Process assists us to accomplish.
There are no failures in The Presence Process, as it is an individual journey driven by commitment, curiosity, and intention. It cannot be experienced for someone else or because of someone else. Activating present moment awareness is an individual responsibility. It is therefore an experience that is by nature immune to comparison or judgment.
The Presence Process is not an end to anything; it is the continuation of a lifelong journey that we have already been making into the heart of our own present moment awareness.

Gentle, effective guide for cultivating emotional maturity and peace of mind.......2007-10-15
I love The Presence Process. I stumbled onto the book in my local bookstore, Chapter One, in Ketchum, Idaho, thumbed through it, and bought it immediately. Michael leads his readers through a 10-week process that deconstructs emotional reactivity and shows us how to transform reactivity to considered response. The awareness, or presence, that Michael has helped me develop has genuinely improved the quality of my life.

Book Description
Donald Gazzaniga, diagnosed with congestive heart failure, was on a waiting list for a heart transplantthe only effective medical treatment. Urged by his doctor to keep his sodium intake down under 1,500-2,000 mg. a day, Don headed for the kitchen and went to work. Aware that cutting table salt from your diet is the barest beginning of a true low-sodium menu, Don devised recipes that were 70% lower in sodium than those in other low-sodium cookbooks. The result? Dons name was removed from the transplant list; his doctors believe that his diet played a significant role. The No-Salt, Lowest-Sodium Cookbook contains: Hundreds of good-tasting, easy-to-make recipesA 28-day low-sodium menu planner Advice on finding low-sodium prepared foods, eating in restaurants, etc. Accurate sodium content of every ingredient and of the total servings Substitutes for high-sodium flavorings, and information on other taste-improving substances.
Customer Reviews:
Low Sodium Cooking Essential.......2007-07-28
This book is a "must have" for those serious about low sodium cooking - an ESSENTIAL, along with "Cooking Without a Grain of Salt". Great recipes, and great advice about minimizing sodium in one's diet. A bargain for all the assistance it provides.
Great resource.......2007-07-13
Since my husband was placed on a low sodium diet, we have purchased 6 of these books to give away to other people. There is even a recipe for tasty dill pickles (without all the salt of course).
Nice and informative.......2007-05-13
This book gave me some good ideas about how to deal with a low-sodium diet! The recipes are creative and give the reader hope.
helps you plan your food.......2007-04-28
Physicians will talk "low sodium" but not really how and this book helps that. My husband was dx with severe CHF with possible transplant looming up within the year. A low sodium diet became my contribution to his treatment. He also needed a biventricular pump and various medications but my guess is that the diet changes helped an additional 10-20% and when your heart function is that poor, all the percentages add up. This book helped educate us both especially during the first few months when we were stunned by the change in our reality. I especially like knowing the sodium content of things; so although we used that book a lot initially, I need it less now. Some recipes suffer from...lack of salt...but one learns to deal with it. I find the more acidic the food (tomato, lemon juice, vinegar) the less likely we notice or care that it is low sodium. My husband (almost a year later) is also a success story. His heart has improved (as viral cardiomyopathies can sometimes do) but I believe all the treatment gave his heart the ability to recover. But, regardless of the cause of one's heart failure, treatments that allow the heart to function better all add up. We are not as strict as Don and keep the sodium to 1600-1800 mg a day but that still requires planning and we combine low sodium cooking, no sodium baking soda and baking powder, no or low sodium commercial products (always check what "low sodium means"), spices instead of salt, and limiting any high sodium foods. We read labels, and have found commercially produced bread with 0 mg of sodium.
No-Salt, Lowest Sodium Cookbook .......2007-04-11
This collection of recipes and helpful hints on avoiding excessive intake of salt is a must have for anyone on a low sodium diet or who wants to minimize the sodium in his/her diet. As you would expect, the book has many recipes for preparing and making dishes and meals without salt and the use of low sodium foods and ingredients in place of those laced with sodium. But, in addition, there are many useful tips on such things as eating out, where it is virtually impossible to know what the nutrient values of foods are or to avoid high-sodium food. The author even has devised a scheme to deal with the fast food places (take your own bun and order the burger without condiments).
The book contains more than just recipes and menus. It includes material on substitutions of food (helpful for devising your own recipes or modifying the author's), and very helpful info on where to purchase some of the food products not commonly found in supermarkets. And, of course, there are discussions of the health benefits of reducing sodium intake and descriptions of various food staples -- including water, which was an eye-opener (yeh, in some places you gotta keep an eye on what is in the water)!
Many of the recipes are fine for those who are well-versed in the arts of the kitchen or who have time to both learn the techniques and prepare the food. But there are plenty of simple recipes that even a neophyte like me can handle. Each recipe includes a nutritional analysis of the finished product, itemizing the biggies like sodium content, cholesterol, fat (saturated and both mono- and poly-unsaturated -- but not trans fat), carbohydratesk, fiber and proteins. It also includes content amounts of calcium, potassium and iron. Sugar content is not listed and that is an unfortunate omission.
For those who have to watch what they eat and must or want to keep the sodium intake down, I think this is one of three books that are must-haves, the others being The Encyclopedia of Food Values by Corrine Netzer and the Joy of Cooking, by Rombauer & Becker. The Encyclopedia (not the paperback version) lists every conceivable nutrient in virtually any food you can think of, which makes it a helpful addition when adapting or devising recipes - but contains very little on cooking or preparation. Joy is indispensible for detailed descriptions of cooking techniques and alternative ingredients - but contains no nutritional analysis of recipes. The No-Salt, Lowest Sodium Cookbook fills the gap by providing both low sodium recipes, nutritional analyses, and some basic cooking technique information.
Book Description
The phenomenal bestseller, with more than 500,000 copies sold worldwide, now with a new epilogue from the author--The Chalice and the Blade has inspired a generation of women and men to envision a truly egalitarian society by exploring the legacy of the peaceful, goddess-worshipping cultures from our prehistoric past.
Customer Reviews:
What Harner thinks "Westerners" want.......2007-09-24
This is the fourth time in the past decade I've read this book cover to cover (as opposed to looking up specific factoid and techniques) and I'm finding that this time through, I'm not so fond of it. It's not that it's horrible; it's just not as impressive to me these days, now that I know more than I used to.
Harner's book is pretty much a classic on NEOshamanism; it forms the foundation of core shamanism, a shamanic practice that is (mostly) devoid of specific cultural trappings. His background in anthropology, as well as experience training as a shaman in the Jivaro and Conibo tribes, make this a well-researched and well-informed book. There are plenty of endnotes, and a good bibliography, so it's easy to trace where he got his information from.
The problem is the presentation of the practical material. First off, my main complaint is that his selection of techniques seems incredibly arbitrary. He draws on the tobacco ties of certain Native American traditions, Jivaro-flavered sucking shamanism, and the spiritual canoe from a particular Northwest Native tribe. And he seems to ignore a number of shamanic practices that may not be necessarily appealing to the New Age crowd, such as spiritual dismemberment and reassembly.
Also, he fails to mention that even within a specific culture there are several types of shamanism. He should have, IMO, either billed this as a form of healing shamanism, or stuck to one of the cultures he trained in, rather than adding in elements of numerous cultures. He doesn't quite draw shamanism far enough away from its cultural roots to make it fit together well; rather than doing as Peter J. Carroll did with Chaos magic, and making a system that is not at all culturally specific (and so can be plugged into any culture), Harner attempts to make (certain) cultural artifacts relevant for people outside that culture, while also trying to make it relevant to modern mainstream American (and other postindustrial) culture. Unfortunately, the end result still retains enough of the original cultural material (such as biases against certain animals like snakes and insects) without explaining the contextual relevance of such elements.
Finally, he waters down certain pieces of information. "The SSC [Shamanic State of Consciousness], it can be said, is safer than dreaming," he says (xxii). Yet shamanism, even in modern practice, is NOT safe. He doesn't talk about spiritual defense, other than talking about how one's power animal and other guardians are supposed to protect you. He barely brings up any dangers, other than seeing animals with bared fangs. Nor does he talk about how close to the edge shamanism can bring a practitioner (or the skills needed to maintain a proper balance).
In short, this is shamanism for the living room. The techniques itself are solid, despite the contextual issues, and can be easily used by most people who pick up this book. If presented as a book on shamanic techniques, I give it a four. However, as a book on *shamanism*, I give it a two. This balances out to three out of five.
how-to guide for shamanism.......2007-08-22
Shamanism is not a religion.
A shamanic journey is something you can do, rather easily, if only you try.
you do not need anything other than this book.
Mr. Harner is not in the business of lying to you. He has no time for telling you "truths."
This is a "For Dummies" guide to shamanic practice.
Do not be afraid. If you are interested, buy the book. Do the excercises. See what happens.
A beautiful introduction to shamanism.......2007-05-28
This introduction to shamanism is based on the vivid experience of the author with shamans from native societies and his sometimes dramatic adventure in the realms of the Shamanic State of Conscience. It is a compact but comprehensive report of experiences, techniques and thoughts of shamans and scholars that devoted to the study of shamanism. The book denotes a long period of serious practical learning and research. It presents also a very intersting philosophical and spiritual point of view of the relation of humans with all other beings and Nature. The comments presented and the techniques proposed by the author as adapted to our western way of life, consitute a practical guide to those intending to introduce themselves to the practice of shamanism.
Call back.......2007-05-16
While I truly appreciate the information and insight Harner has brought to the west, his writing is amazingly academic and cerebral. If you are seeking an experiential glimpse of shamanism or a more instructional text, this book is not it. To learn *why* shamanism, absorb every page.
The Original and Still the Best Introduction.......2007-04-11
When Michael Harner's book, The Way of the Shaman, came out in the early 1980s, it was revolutionary. It was an easy-to-read book on a little-known subject, and it still is. Harner popularized the words "shaman" and "shamanism" and many people became interested in shamanism because of this book.
Reading this book won't teach you how to journey, but no book can do that. What it will do, unlike most of the books with "shamanism" in the title (many of them filled with nonsense) that have been published since, is clearly explain the basics of what shamanism really is and what shamans do. I always recommend it to beginners in my shamanism group as the best book to read before learning to journey.
While Harner's "core shamanism" doesn't seem to me to be quite as generic as he believes, presumably because he was deeply influenced by his own studies with the Jivaro, I still think his approach is the best.
After 25 years, The Way of the Shaman is still the best place for beginners to start. Even if you're not a beginner, it's a must-read for anyone interested in doing shamanic practices.

It was ok.......2007-10-07
I liked some of the information but it was not technical enough for me. . .Suzanne Somers does a better job in fact and this guy is a doctor. So that is telling. You can get something from it but it is not the best source of info on the subject.
Good stuff.......2007-08-23
I think Platt makes some important points. It's also important to know that he does focus alot on weight loss and the control of insulen. I have researched other sources who disagree with his perspective on estrogen. If you read this book be sure to also read Dr. Uzzi Reiss's book Natural Hormone Balance for Women. He has a very different perspective on bio-identical estrogen. He has also been prescribing these natural hormones for 20 years so he has lots of research and experience. I have been using the bio-identical estrogen and progesterone with fabulous results and no negative side effects! The progesterone without the estrogen just didn't really cut it. Both books speak intelligently to the complete disregard of women's health by drug companies in the name of profit. There aren't too many doctor's out there who know how to administer bio identical hormones.
Not the most useful book........2007-08-11
This has to be one of the least informative books I have ever purchased (on any subject). My suggestion would be to skip over this one.

Title: The Miracle of Bio-Identical Hormones
Author: Michael E. Platt, M.D.
Doctors give drugs of which they know little
into bodies of which they know less
for diseases of which they know nothing at all. Voltaire
In this fascinating book, Dr. Platt with proven case studies brings awareness of a healthy alternative to a largely pill popping society.
An internist for over 35 years, his purpose is to teach those searching for relief of many debilitating disorders, that hormones control the body, in fact, every cell of the body. When the hormones are tested, usually through an easy saliva test, then put into balance, many find relief from their world of pain and disabilities. Arthritis, ADHD, Diabetes, Fibromyalgia, Menopause and Cancer are just a few mentioned but there are many more life altering ailments that balancing hormones would give the person a new lease on life.
Dr. Platt is one of a select few that deal with the cause of an illness instead of the symptoms. Unfortunately most doctors are not educated in natural hormones. Most of their knowledge from medical school is learned based on research done by pharmaceutical companies.
"Bio-identical hormones are hormone supplements whose biochemical structures are identical to those produced by the body," therefore minimizing potential risks. They are usually prepared from a natural base such as soy or yam and are FDA approved. The ultimate advantage is that the dosage is tailored to the individual's own hormonal requirement. The preferred method of delivery is creams, gels and suppositories, so they are absorbed directly into the bloodstream.
Dr. Platt encourages the public to become proactive in their own health and not to rely solely on the health system. Doctors will not change the current approach to care unless we, the patients demand better alternatives. He challenges our minds to think about the power of the current systems, relying on pharmaceutical and insurance companies.
This book is brilliantly written and laid out so that anyone reading it can easily understand his well- researched opinion.
Michael E. Platt is a board-certified internist based in California. He maintains a medical practice devoted to wellness and preventive medicine. He is nationally and internationally known and in my opinion, we should all listen and learn form his opinions. Personally, I wish I lived close enough to be under his care.
I not only highly recommend this book but will insist my family and friends read it!

A very thought-provoking and well-written book.......2007-07-17
Reviewed by Cherie Fisher for Reader Views (6/07)
Dr. Michael E. Platt's new book "The Miracle of Bio-Identical Hormones" --how I lost my fatigue, hot flashes, ADHD, ADD, fibromyalgia, PMS, osteoporosis, weight, sexual dysfunction, anger migraines -- is very thought-provoking and well-written. In this book Dr. Platt takes on the traditional medical community who primarily base their treatments on clinical studies funded by pharmaceutical companies. His frustration lies in the fact that there is little to no incentive for studies about natural hormone supplements because no patents are available for these products and patents are where the real money is. I found the book to be very well-written and reader-friendly for the lay person.
Dr. Platt's approach was very well-organized and his ideas seem to be ahead of his time. As there are almost no research studies done on Dr. Platt's approach, he used case studies from his clinical practice to support his claims. He is a board certified internist with over 35 years of clinical experience. He approaches illnesses looking for the cause, instead of just treating the symptoms, and has had tremendous success over the years. His premise is that because hormones control every system in the body, the underlying causes of illnesses happen when they are out of balance. Dr. Platt writes in his book "Until doctors get back to treating their patients instead of lab tests, until they start listening to patients instead of drug companies, and until they open themselves to a more logical and healthful approach to medicine, we are destined to remain on the bottom of the list of civilized countries when it comes to health care."
I found "The Miracle of Bio-Identical Hormones" to be very interesting and I went to Dr. Platt's website to see what it offered. He has a free evaluation that you can take to see if you possibly have imbalanced hormones. I took and received an immediate answer. While the premise of the book is excellent and I agree with a lot of what he is saying, I am having a hard time locating a physician in my area that follows his premise. Hopefully, that will change as more information is released on this topic and physicians see success in the treatments. I applaud Dr. Platt's efforts and hope that his approach will inspire the medical community.

An Ounce of Prevention is worth...........2007-06-08
I found this book to be very informative. As a Pharmacist, I do believe that certain medications are beneficial. However, I also believe in nutritious foods and exercise to be the foundation of a healthy body. This book is an educational tool, but not difficult to read. Enlightening!!
Best book on treating cancer with Natural Medicine I've read.......2007-05-08
I highly recommend this book if you are interested in preventing or supplementing your cancer treatment with natural medicine. It will save you lots of time in research. I also own and love Michael Murray's Encyclopedia of Healing Foods, another really great, well researched book.
Great book- but be mindful of pre-cancer diet & chemo diet.......2007-03-12
I am currently in chemotherapy for breast cancer. This book is very informative about cancer prevention diets and post cancer prevention diets. PLEASE note there are some foods that are recommended to prevent cancer but that one should AVOID while under going chemotherapy (which this books will help you to identify). So, as long as you read carefully for your current status this is a wonderful book.
ALterntive Medicine Kills Cancer.......2007-01-01
This is a great book for anyone looking for a better healthy way to kill and fight off cancer. Plus this book actually gives you a complete cure for Cancer. If you have cancer or know someone who has it, they will treasure it as they beat cancer holistically rather than using chemo. I bought this book on the advice of my Nauropathic Doctor when I was diagnosed by an oncologist with having Stage 4 Terminal Cancer and had over 200 cancerous tumors in my body. I elected to go the alternative route and thank the Lord less than 7 months from the day I was diagnosed terminal Stage 4, I was and still am completely Cancer -Free.
Stop buying into the mumbo jumbo from the MD and the FDA which state only chemo and drugs kill cancer, there is a cure and this book tells all. Believe it, I did!
very informative and easy to understand.......2006-07-02
I highly suggest this book to anyone with cancer or if your helping someone with cancer. The information is very practical, easy to follow and lets you know that there is way more you can be doing than just what your doctor tells you. great book!

The Low-Carb Comfort Food Cookbook.......2006-07-14
Recipes are good but loaded with fat and calories...don't use unless you are a strict Atkins's dieter.
Great lowcarb cookbook- a must have.......2005-08-05
I love this cookbook. Full of some fantastic recipes and mounds of information on low carb products. Try the chili recipe with black soybeans, I couldn't tell the difference from any original recipe using kidney or pinto beans. YA gotta have this one.
yes tiny cookies have fewer carbs...no kidding.......2005-06-20
There were alot of hard to find/expensive ingredients. The foods sounded yummy, but when I would go to make the items I would always come up missing one of the harder to find flours or powders. I am also a stay at home mom on a budget and some items are just way to expensive to purchase and cook with on a regular basis!
The carb count is still offly high in a few items and i found it easier to purchase already made low carb pasta rather than spend all afternoon going from health store to store looking for the different glutons and powders. Being a sweet junky I also made the low carb chocolate chip cookies. Sure a cookie the size of a quarter is low carb. That one doesn't take rocket sience to figure out. It is frustrating to put all of that work into making cookies and find you can only have 2 miniature cookies. Many of the recipes are yummy but in very SMALL portions. I am all for portion control it's helped me lose 30 lbs, but there is a moment where portion control crosses the line...a chocolate chip cookie the size of a quarter is not worth my time...limited carbs or limited calories!!!
YUCK! Only Drs could author a cookbook this bland!.......2005-02-21
I had this book on my wish list and was excited to receive it for my birthday. But I am soo dissapointed!
It is a visually unappealing, cheap quality printed book with a poor layout. So bland vanilla, I don't even *want* to look for a recipe in it! Even if a cookbook isn't filled with graphic illustrations or full-color photos, it can still have an easy-to-read layout, but this book is nothing but run-on recipes and uneccesary opinions by the Drs. It appears as if they simply wrote in a word document file and printed it - no setup, no flow. Bleck. Cooking should be art, just because it's low-carb, doesn't mean it has to be uninviting or lifeless. As my husband (Marketing) says, only a Dr could make a cookbook so sterile!
Other than that, the recipes are good but it's so unpleasant to look at - I'm giving the book to Goodwill.
good but not the best.......2004-12-03
Nice recipes and easy to follow, but lacks the humor of books by by Dana Carpender, She is an expert on low carb coooking, ned both!
