Great read for any sportswoman/sportsman.......2007-05-14
This book provides some great "food for thought" for practitioners of any sport, be it a team or an individual sport. You do not have to believe every word or make all the written exercises the author proposes; just read and think. At least, you will approach the "mental game" in a new way.
A training and coaching gem!.......2006-11-10
Extremely helpful "how to" book for becoming mentally tough. Unlike other sports pysche books, this one tells you very specific things to do to improve concentration, focus and most important, resiliency. Think of this as a cookbook of recipes for creating the appropriate mental response at the right time.
Good, easy read........2006-09-01
This is a pretty good, easy read. It doesn't hit you with a lot of scientific mumbo-jumbo that you'll never understand. Instead, it gives you a basic, common-sense approach to improving the mental aspect of your game. The author shows how the physical world and the emotional world are related, and how being stronger mentally can help you perform better in your sport.
It is not geared towards any one sport, but rather it is geared to athletes in general.
Greatest book on mental preparation for sports.......2006-03-17
All I can say is that my husband a college baseball coach of 35 yrs thought this book was so important he sent it to the Cubs trainer and the pitching coach for the Padres!
So-so, look at others before you buy.......2004-09-22
This book was so-so. It contained a lot of highly basic material. I was not really impressed with Dr. Loehr's theories about sport. It seemed that he did not have much access to sport himself. The examples that were given were very modest and could have used some help. I would only reccommend this book to someone who has rarely particiapted in sports...too basic for the advanced.

Great book. This is not filler material. You feel like Dan is by your side leading you to greater focus, self belief and passion.
Meets the Expectations in the Title.......2006-05-29
You have to admit that it takes a very confident person to write a book called "the ultimate guide to mental toughness."
I think the book is aptly titled. This is one of the many books that I have no qualms about saying, "It was so good, it changed my life".
That's not something I would every say lightly. This book is very, very good.
We've all seen them: the people who seem to be ready and confident for any situation. Setbacks don't seem to hurt them the way they hurt the rest of us. And when the time calls for somebody who will walk in and confidently win the game, they're always at the forefront.
I'm not naturally an optimistic person. I doubt it was anything to do with my circumstances. I've had my share of setbacks like everyone has. BUT, I know of a lot of folks who have had worse situations and yet they manage to be happier and more confident than me.
What do they know that I don't know? Maybe nothing. Maybe it's just their natural wiring. Maybe it's just natural for them to feel that way. But for one reason or another, they seem to have more mental toughness than most folks. They certainly have more than I.
But I also know that if you can't feel it, if you can fake it long enough, you can usually make it real.
That's what this book teaches you to do: to teach yourself to be confident and mentally tough.
I wonder if Teitelbaum is trained in hypnosis, since the book is basically a self-hypnosis book. It will actually let you get inside your head and re-program things to a better you.
It isn't often I offer this type of praise, but in this case, it is worth it. This book is especially going to be valuable for managers and salespeople, as well as others who feel that a tougher, more confident mental outlook would help in their lives.
Well worth the money. I only wish there were more books like this on the market.
Irritating, and Inflated Reviews.......2006-05-01
Like someone else, I could not read a book that underlines words _so_ _frequently_ just to make sure a reader _gets the point_. That is usually a sign that the _author_ doesn't have confidence that the point _is_ getting communicated well.
In _addition_, the reviews in the book talk about someone _raising his income (!)_ by $40,000 to $50,000 / year. C'mon give me a _break_, that's like an _info_-mercial.
I think that I am going to _save my money_ and not support such hype.
It Works..........2006-03-24
If you want a better understanding of how your own brain works and how you can use that understanding to harness your human spirit, then this book is for you. It is laid out in simple terms, and the tools and workbook offer powerful results. This book is about "You" and how you can take advantage of your own belief system to motivate you subconsciously throughout the day. It is so easy to be distracted by the phone, fellow employees, customers, email, text messaging, instant messaging, lunch, flat tire ect... throughout the day. Using Mr. Teitelbaums tequniques you can keep your self on track, keep your mind focused, and acheive your goals. I'm not a millionaire, but I do support my family and live in a nice house. I am able to put my kids in a private school. All of this becuase I read this book and was able to stay focused on my goals. I have given this book to many people as a gift and recieved many thanks and praise.
Goal-oriented self-help.......2005-05-27
For those who have trouble taking consistent, positive action in the direction of their goals, Teitelbaum gives step-by-step instructions in his self-published book on how to keep dreams in mind so that the reader is motivated every day.

Great for musicians, too..........2006-12-15
I'm a drummer and have always had some glitches in my performances when I thought the pressure was on. I've read this book once thru and am already thinking differently on the stage. I've read tons of music books on the subject of letting go of the chatter in your head, but this blows them all away with concrete exercises and evaluations to gauge your mental toughness.
a must read.......2004-12-06
if you've decided to open up that can of worms that is sports psych, then you really should read this gem. it is vastly superior to all his other books.
Mastering the Mental side of sports.......2004-01-04
This book was given to me a few years ago by one of my coaches. This book is possibly the most helpful book that I have ever read. I am a goalie in ice hockey (15 years old) and have always been regarded as the hardest worker that people have ever seen. But when it came to big games, I clearly wasn't always my sharpest. Many coaches say that sports is 90% mental, but how can you improve your mental skills? Improving mental skills is not very physically demanding, but it does take commitment. Read this book and take this seriously! It could turn around your sports journey, or journey through life. It has for me and it is less than 200 pages! I highly recommend this book for any serious athletes of any age.
the bible.......2001-09-28
suggested to me by a world cup winning athlete who owns and old out of print copy covered in tape to hold it together, this book is brilliant. my career as an elite athlete jumped a number of levels whilst reading it. his more recent book is nothing compared to this. go to your library and photocopy it, no one will sell it to you. it is the best.
The ultimate guide to mental control for sports!.......2001-02-24
James Loehr's book deserves 10 stars!
After reading many books on sports psychology and not getting anywhere, Mental Toughness Training for Sports guided me down the road to sporting success.
James Loehr explains what happens mentally to athletes during both great and terrible performances. You are then guided along analysing your own performances and gradually you gain more and more control over your mental and ultimately your physical performances.
This book is for the serious athelete, who has the patience to take the necessary steps required for success.
If you feel you are not producing your best in play due to mental obstacles, then this is the book for. It will change your life and give you control you thought only your opponents possessed.

Mental Toughness Training for Volleyball.......2007-05-13
This was an interesting, easy to understand book. Volleyball is highly dependent on momentum and you can't afford to have even a brief mental breakdown. This book talks about getting back on track and why when players get nervous they mess up because they inadvertantly change their mechanics. This book was helpful for any type of athlete or coach.

A Story That Teaches the Secrets of Bad Writing.......2004-01-24
This book is anti-literature. The "story" is silly, cliched, and unconvincing. I threw the book out. I could have attempted to re-sell it, or even donate it to a local library, but I wanted to do my small part in making sure I didn't unnecessarily expose anyone else to Mr. Zosel's vision. I'm a little annoyed that Amazon requires that I award this book even one star.
Inspiring, educational read.......2001-03-07
Solid sport psychology concepts in an engaging format. I didn't put the book down until I was finished with the last page! Tennis players of all ages can relate to Tony and learn with him as he develops his mental game.
Tony's Da Bomb.......2000-10-01
I think Vision Tennis is a great book. It teaches people how to deal with tough situations in the game of tennis. Being a tournament player, I was able to learn a lot of things that helped me to be a better player, both physically and mentally. I liked it when the author described how he played against the top players in his region. The author, Michael Zosel told you how not to choke and what you should do before playing a match. It ended up being a great story in the end. If you want to get better both mentally and physically you must read this book.
an engaging story that's fun to read.......2000-04-12
My daughter would not put it down. She immediately used ideas from the book to improve her performance in tournament play. She came off the court excitedly telling me about how she had dealt with negative self-talk, as well as improvements in her visualization and concentration. She was having more fun and playing better! (She beat a girl soundly in straight sets that just weeks before had beaten her.)
Vision Tennis.......1999-12-26
Provides the tools of mental toughness in a format which is incredibly fun and enjoyable to read. Extremely useful for both juniors and adults.....anyone who want to raise the level of their game. This book would be an ideal "team book" for coaches to provide to their players, so that each can develop/adapt their own personal approach to mental toughness. This book is a winner!
