Book Description
This daringly real, intensely moving love story gives vision and hope to everyone in search of a love worth waiting for. In their bestseller When God Writes Your Love Story, Eric and Leslie Ludy described the breathtaking perfection of God's plans for each young person and offered fresh guidelines for being Christlike in relationships with the opposite sex. When Dreams Come True shares the Ludys' personal story, illustrating how they lived out the principles of the first book in their own romance and marriage. Includes an all-new chapter from Eric Ludy, "What Happened Next?"
“I had a God who knew my every desire. He also knew how I would fall. And yet He was waiting on the other side of my failure and my shattered dreams with some dreams of His own...”
Here’s hope for anyone in search of a love worth waiting for.
From the bestselling authors of When God Writes Your Love Story comes this daringly real, true-life account of Eric and Leslie Ludy’s own journey through the struggles and triumphs of a God-written romance.
Story Behind the Book
Eric and Leslie Ludy know that most young people today have never seen a successful, Christ-centered relationship modeled, and believe that “happily ever after” is a thing of the past. The Ludy’s wrote When Dreams Come True to offer their own example of a God-written love story, providing the vision for that “something better” that so many young people have never seen.
Customer Reviews:
Dreams Can Come True, Life Can be Good for Your Kids.......2007-09-15
I've shared the Ludy's book with my own three teens and with the teens of my friends. The story stands in stark opposition to what our culture teaches and gives hope and a vision of an honorable love affair that can last forever. My own children watched as friends became lovers, broke up, had babies, and were alone, or went from one tragic relationship to the next. This book showed them that it is realistic to hold out for something better and they were rewarded for doing so. Our culture needs to know there are other options and that the way to true love and happiness does not begin in the bedroom. One of the best parts of this true story is that it involves two people who went the wrong way first. This mom says, save your children's marriages before it's even an issue, get this book and give them a vision of something wonderful that's worth waiting and trusting God for.
My 15 yo daughter just finished the book. She didn't particularly want to read it, but it's a great story and once she started, she needed no more prodding. Besides providing a "vision," the story works as a "dating manual" for those committed to Jesus Christ. The reader sees how the young lovers come to fall in love, identify their feelings for one another, but manage to take the high road of abstinence and trust God that His way is truly best. When they finally marry, they've already proved their love for one another in the way they have put the other one's well-being above their own. A beautiful story for everyone.
Inspiring.......2007-03-12
I've made a point of avoiding Christian-aimed relationship books because so many of them are either condescending or unrealistic. But everything the Ludys have written blows that idea completely out of the water. They break the mold by being honest and open. This book is a treat to read; Eric and Leslie tell their story as if you were sitting in a living room with them. It's bold to be truthful, and it's daring to do it in our culture. I hope every young woman looking for a good romance reads this and takes it's message to heart. I wish I had read it years ago.
The story of the Ludys.......2007-01-19
This is not a book with directions on "the way" to do things. It is simply the very honest story of how God worked in the Ludys' lives to bring them together. Eric and Leslie take turns writing chapters throughout this book. They begin by describing their childhoods, their adolescences, and how they lost their innocence. They tell of different relationships they went through and left them hurt and feeling dirty and defiled. I thought they were rather too descriptive for young people without the same experiences, but then the beauty at the end is more beautiful when compared to the beginning. Also, I think their story would be encouraging for those who have had the same kind of adolescence and disillusionment regarding true love.
They explain how they came to know the Lord and how their relationship with Him changed their life. They finally gave their entire life to Him, including their love life, committing not to date another person except the one they will marry.
Their meeting is described, at the time when Eric was 21 and Leslie, 16. They tell how they struggled with their relationship, trying to keep it at just friends, yet with the Lord drawing them closer. They came to the conclusion that they were meant for each other, but that they weren't ready yet for marriage, rather like Jim and Elisabeth Elliot. They continue to grow and mature in their spiritual lives, as well as their love for each other. When they decided it was time for them to become engaged and get married, they committed to save their first kiss for their wedding.
The last pages of the book tell of their wedding. Eric tells of his tears as he waits for his bride. Leslie writes of her nervousness before the wedding, and the peace and happiness that came over her as she walked down the aisle to Eric. It was so familiar; I don't know how many brides feel that way, but I know I did. They told how their first kiss was so special because they had saved it for marriage.
I thought their book was a sweet story of how God can change lives, and how His plan for us is the best and most beautiful. For those who have similar backgrounds, it may be helpful in their own lives. Those who have grown up with and held to a higher standard of purity in relationships will not find much to apply to their lives. The Ludys have seen God do amazing and wonderful things through the surrender in their lives, but those how have kept themselves to their ideals, to physical and emotional purity, and to a relationships with a greater parental involvement, will have a sweeter story to tell.
A sweet and convicting love story!.......2007-01-18
I love this book. It is one of the best books I have ever read. Eric and Leslie are amazing authors. All of their books are excellent! All are must reads for everyone, but especially for young people and singles. Their story will touch your life. They are funny, real, encouraging, convicting, and inspiring writers. READ THIS BOOK!
Ah, a hardcore yet tender love story..........2006-11-14
This book really shows what God can do in one's life. Eric and Leslie both had gone down destructive romantic paths before meeting each other and developing a loyal friendship, which turned into a chaste romance. (They did not even kiss until they had said their vows.) I loved the part where Eric proposes to Leslie--it is so romantic and pure. If you're looking for a real love story, buy "When Dreams Come True"--And read it 'til your face turns blue! (yes, I know, I'm not good at rhymes.)

Very entertaining.......2007-06-21
Reviewed by Erin Keith (age 17) for Reader Views (6/07)
It's the beginning of summer and it's off to a hot start. Our main characters consist of Serena, Blair, Nate, Dan, and Vanessa.
Serena is starring in a re-make of the famous movie "Breakfast at Tiffany's," except it's now called Breakfast at Fred's. She thinks that she has the easy life, what with a really hot co-star, that is until she's finding it hard to concentrate on her lines.
Blair is off to England with her new boyfriend, Lord Marcus, but gets a rude awakening when his cousin comes to visit. She finds herself back in the states and is mortified when her mother informs her that she needs a summer job.
Nate is up to his usual getting-in-trouble self and realizes that there's more to life than money and nice cars. When a townie chick opens his eyes to the real world, he begins to question a lot of other things, like what he really wants out of life.
Dan is between a rock and hard place when he asks Vanessa to move back in with him, but meets a new girl with a new perspective on life and the environment. He tries to re-kindle a flame with Vanessa, but sometimes big gestures are not enough. After getting fired from her summer job on the set of Breakfast at Fred's, Vanessa must learn the true wonders of babysitting. But she doesn't realize what she's gotten herself into until it's too late.
All in all, the ninth novel in the "Gossip Girl" series is one to keep you fully entertained this summer. "Only in Your Dreams" was intriguing and displayed a consistency in the series. I would recommend this book to those who like the series, and to those that are looking for a good summer read. The great thing about the "Gossip Girl" books is that you don't have to read them in order!
Don't waste your money. .......2007-01-11
Okay, I really did try to read one of these books once, but that didn't last very long. I honestly don't understand why people even like them. There's nothing good about these books. They're just about materialistic people and their boring, superficial lives. Seems to be that all they do is drink, have sex, and backstab their "friends". How wonderful. Don't waste your money.
great books.......2006-11-19
i have read all the books and they are all great i cant wait for the next book in 2007 and hopefully the movie
Sleazy and Petty.......2006-10-11
This installation of the Gossip Girl series is just as shallow and superficial as all its predecessors are. The entire plot revolves around getting high, having sex, smoking, and guzzling down alcohol. The whole series is pure trash from beginning to end.
Not as good as the others.......2006-09-27
I agree with what some of the other people are saying this book is no where near as good as the other books, it seems as if ever since the kids graduated the author has run out of ideas. And those reviewers who are complaining about how this book isn't apporiate for younger readers, shoud know this book is for ages 16 and up and every 16 year old has heard or used the "f" word at least once in their lives. Yes there is a lot of sex, drugs, and bad language but that's a part of the real world.
Book Description
Happenstance…or God’s Great Plan?
She’s the bold, free-spirited type. She’s cute, she’s fun, and she’s following God. She’s Sierra Jensen, Christy Miller’s good friend, ready for her junior year of high school! All twelve books in the popular Sierra Jensen series come together in four volumes to reveal the ups and downs of Sierra’s incredible God-led journey!
Volume One: In Only You, Sierra, she’s nervous to be the “new girl” after her family moves to Portland and wonders if meeting Paul in London was only by chance. Just when everything important seems to elude her, all it takes is one weekend In Your Dreams to prove otherwise. But even a vacation doesn’t keep her troubles away in Don’t You Wish.
Christy Miller knows a good friend when she meets her,
and so will you—
Get ready for Sierra Jensen!
Only You, Sierra
The Europe mission trip brought Sierra Jensen the best gift possible: two new friends, Katie and Christy. But now Sierra is headed home, and she can’t help but wonder will her friendships last? And what about her new home? Her family moved while she was gone, and that means facing a new high school. And the biggest question of all: Will she ever find love? Then a chance meeting in a London airport answers that question. Paul makes her heart leap. But she’ll never see him again! Or will she?
In Your Dreams
Sierra has had it! She’s done everything she can to find the right job, good friends, and most important, true love. But nothing is working out. Now she has to stay home to care for her grandmother. By herself. For the whole weekend! It will be terrible. But a series of startling surprises shows Sierra just how wrong she is—and before she knows it, she’s on her way to the perfect job, her first real date, and an encounter with a mysterious stranger.
Don’t You Wish
Sierra has three wishes: visit her California friends; have her older sister, Tawni, disappear; and learn more about the mysterious stranger. When Easter break arrives, Sierra’s first wish comes true! She’s headed to Newport Beach for fun, sun, and surf. Unfortunately, not only does Tawni not disappear, she accompanies Sierra on her escape. What’s worse, everyone has a boyfriend except Sierra. But will her wishes begin to change as she realizes God wants to mold her according to His wishes?
Story Behind the Book
“After writing the twelve-book Christy Miller series for teens, a new character showed up on the pages of the final novel. Her name was Sierra Jensen, and she was so compelling as a teenage character that readers began asking for a series about Sierra in order to hear more about her life choices. Our family had just moved to Portland at the time, and I found it easy to picture a sixteen-year-old like Sierra shopping at the local vintage clothing stores, hanging out with friends at a garage band concert, and serving at the homeless shelter on weekends.”
—Robin Jones Gunn
Customer Reviews:
A satisfying read!.......2006-07-07
This collection includes the first three books in the Sierra Jensen series written by Robin Jones Gunn.
Only You, Sierra introduces sixteen-year-old Sierra. Flying home from a mission trip in the UK, Sierra has met several new friends, including Katie and Christy, who readers of Robin's Christy Miller series will recognize. Normally outgoing and adventurous, Sierra is surprised to feel anxiety about her family's move to Portland, Oregon during the time she was away. A new home, new school, and potential new love interest challenge Sierra to reevaluate beliefs about herself that she has long taken for granted.
In Your Dreams finds Sierra watching over Granna Mae for a few days while her family is out of town. While it's difficult for Sierra to see her Granna's memory come and go, what seems to be a simple responsibility becomes more than Sierra bargains for when Granna Mae receives a call saying she needs immediate surgery. Meanwhile, Sierra tries to find a part-time job and wonders why, when she was the most popular girl at her old school, she is having such a difficult time making new friends in Portland.
Don't You Wish takes Sierra and her sister Tawni to spend Easter break at the beach with Christy, Katie, and their friends. When Tawni hits it off immediately with Jeremy, and even Katie pairs off with Antonio, an Italian exchange student, Sierra struggles with being jealous and feeling left out. She wants a boyfriend too. She tries to have fun and even learns to surf. But when Sierra witnesses Christy and Todd, to her the perfect couple, going through a difficult time in their relationship, she realizes everyone has struggles in their life. And she learns, as 1 Tim 6:6 states, that godliness with contentment is the greatest gain.
"Have you ever felt as if you were caught between two lives? The one you're living, and the one you wish you were living?" Sierra asks Christy.
Armchair Interviews says: Readers of all ages will understand Sierra's feelings and be ministered to by the timeless truths God reveals to her throughout this collection.

Fascinating, meticulously researched, and deftly written........1998-04-01
Dr. Williams takes what may at first seem like a narrow subject---Irish-American song lyrics---and uses it to tell not only the story of the Irish in America, but of American popular culture as well. This book is full of revelations. Readers unfamiliar with the subject matter will be surprised to learn that not too long ago in our history, Irish-American music and popular culture were practically synonymous. Others with a more sophisticated knowledge of Irish American history will be delighted at all sorts of surprises---e.g., "The Cobbler" and "The Real Old Mountain Dew," two songs popularized by the Clancy Brothers and Tommy Maken early in their career, were actually written by Ned Harrigan, a 3rd-generation Irish-American New Yorker. Through his fascinating account of the lives and careers of Harrigan and other stars of Irish-American culture, Williams re-creates a largely forgotten era in American life. His analysis of the history and meaning of the achievements of these artists helps define this remarkable period of creativity and transition in American cultural expression.

Customer Reviews:
Super-brilliant!.......2005-04-25
A brilliant book! It is really good. When I first read the end I cried! I love the way things work out and the way the author works things out. I don't ice skating, and you don't have to do ice skating to like this book. A book I like better though is 'Lily's Passport to Paris' by Nancy Rue. Check out excerpts from both and then decide what you want to buy
Thoroughly entertaining, recommended for pre-teens & teens........2000-07-14

Customer Reviews:
Good book.......2002-10-30
Eleven-year-old Livvy Hudson's life is shattered when her mother dies of cancer. Livvy now has no support for her skating, and her dad has turned into a hermit. But one day her dad decides that he wants to move to Alpine Lake to get away from all the memories of Livvy's mother. Livvy is upset that she will have to leave everything and everyone behind, especially her coach. But Apline Lake turns out to better than Livvy thought, especially since she now lives in the same town as her pen pal. But Livvy is still unable to get a new coach or lessons. Will her Olympic dreams ever come true? I really liked this book, even though I am not into figure skating.
the Shunning.......2001-04-09
I have read all of Beverly Lewis adult books and long for more. I am intrigued by the stories of Lancaster County Pa. Looking forward to more tales of the simple life. Beverly, thank you very much for soothing "winter" reading. I really enjoyed your stories.
Dreams On Ice is great!.......2000-05-26
Dreams On Ice by Beverly Lewis is a fabulous story about an eleven year old girl named Olivia Hudson. Her dreams of becoming a professional figure skater are put on hold when she and her dad move to Alpine Lake, Colorado after her mom dies from cancer. Olivia makes friends in some unexpected places and begins to really enjoy her new home. I love it when she gets to meet her pen pal and finds a place to skate. I enjoyed this book because I like to ice skate like Olivia. I have read nearly all of Beverly Lewis' Cul-De-Sac Kids books and this book in the Girls Only series is just as wonderful. I'm looking forward to reading the 3 other books in this series. by Kaitlyn Drennan, 10 years old

Life worth living........2007-04-20
99% reverence, and 1% irreverence. It is apparent that the author views nature with awe and wonder. It is also readily apparent that he has little patience for people who do not view the world as he does. He speaks knowledgeably on the aspects of his respective adventures. Which shows that he researched things well before undertaking them. As for the people who wonder in and out of the pages of the book, it is really not necessary that we get to know them. The book isn't written about their lives, or characters. It is a book based on the Author's life. A life well lived, albeit driven by a strange mix of adrenaline and natural curiosity. The book is well written, and well worth reading. Personally, I think the majority of interpersonal relationships could have been left out, but it in no way detracted from the overall nature of the life most of us do dream about.
Don't waste your money.......2007-01-10
Book looked interesting but I was very disappointed. The person who wrote this seems to be an egomaniac. He seems a little old to just spend his life looking for "highs". Other people are mentioned in the book but the author appears to use them as props for his grandstanding rather than as persons whom he has relationships with.
Book Description
Judy May Murphy was once suicidal; Cathy Breslin was anorexic. Despite their challenges, they both found the strength to reach inside and turn their dreams into the reality of their lives. In this hip, edgy, and fun self-help book for the chick-lit generation, Murphy and Breslin tackle the "big issues" of life: self-discovery, goals, creativity, career, health, finances, and romance without bogging down the reader or creating the extra anxiety that comes from the finger-wagging gurus so popular today. This is not your mother's ten-step program filled with philosophical patter and long-winded explanations. Your Life Only a Gazillion Times Better is contagiously enthusiastic and dedicated to techniques specifically related to taking action and making changes. It challenges readers to think in a new way and to believe in themselves--in language that is smarty, sassy and wise in its simplicity. Filled with lists and exercises to break up the short text (there are no sections over a page long), this book is the perfect read for the busy schedule, the perfect jump-start for those stuck in a rut, and a wise "girlfriend's" voice when we all need it most. This book helps us face life's challenges that add up to big obstacles and keep our lives from being all they can be. Key Features Foreword by Sharon L. Lechter, author of Rich Dad, Poor Dad. Edgy, hip self-help for the chick-lit generation that turns Dr. Phil's long-winded pablum on its head. Very short chapters and strong interior design elements take the intimidation out of self-help and replace it with contagious energy and enthusiasm. This general life book is perfectly positioned to become the start of a innovative series that can bring a new segment of the market to the self-help aisle for young 20/30-somethings.
Customer Reviews:
Have fun improving your life simply one step at a time!.......2005-09-10
"Your Life only a Gazillion times better" delivers an amazingly simple yet profound way to improve all aspects of your life one easy step at a time! Cathy and Judy May have taken the best of the "self-help" world and condensed it down, added their amazing wisdom to it, and created a fun easy-to-follow one-step-at-a-time way to create HUGE changes in your life! If you are ready for some fun and great life improvements this is a great book!
My Life - A Gazillion Times Better.......2005-07-13
I am somewhat of an expert when it comes to self-help books (last count I had read over 200!) and so I bought Your Life Only A Gazillion Times Better just because a few people had mentioned it to me. I thought at first that because it was an easy read that it wouldn't do much for me, but it turned out to be the complete opposite. It had advice in it that I had never read before and was so practical that I actually achieved things using the book in a very short amount of time. The other impressive aspect was that it didn't have a prescribed way to get healthy, rich and happy, it allowed me to design my own way to do that, based on my personality and where I am at. I wasn't told to run out and buy stocks and shares, it talked about the thousands of ways that you can make your dream come true. I have since recommended it to my business colleagues and friends.
