Book Description
Recorded history is a finely-woven magic fabric of intricate lies about events predating the sixteenth century. There is not a single piece of evidence that can be reliably and independently traced back earlier than the eleventh century. This book details events that are substantiated by hard facts and logic, and validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources.

Calculations are only as good as your numbers.......2007-08-03
Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.
Pants on fire?.......2007-07-19
Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.
Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09
There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.
For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.
Very Interesting.......2007-03-07
It is a good proposal and I believe it will mature into something even better in the future. I think it deserves to be read.
History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10
Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.
I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.
Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.
Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.
I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.
This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.

Great book!.......2007-03-10
I read this as a read aloud to my nine year old son and we both loved it! It puts you in the time of the reconstruction of the temple and we really felt like we were there. We had been studying Biblical history up to this point and this pulled it all together for us. There is plenty of action and drama to keep young kids' attention and it is great that is is written from a young boys perspective. My son kept begging me to keep reading, "just one more chapter" was often the plea so we read it in about three days. Some of my favorite parts were when Nehemiah stood up and defended, without excuse, why they were following God's call and why they would not be intimidated. Powerful stuff!
Book Description
A marvelous fiction debut–a collection of richly told, deeply moving stories about everyday life within a community of Indian Jews as its ancient culture confronts the modern world.
In the mythical village of Jwalanagar, the Jewish traditions of the Bene Israel have survived for more than two thousand years, but the twentieth century brings with it modernity and cataclysmic political change. In these nineteen interconnected stories–by turns insightful, humorous, and heartbreaking; poignant, gentle, and searingly sad–we follow this community across the years as its way of life is forever altered.
In “Hannah and Benjamin,” the parents of a young woman are shocked when she defies their rejection of the man she wishes to marry–but no more shocked than the man himself. In “Nathoo,” a kindly Jewish soldier and his wife adopt a Hindu boy orphaned in the post-independence violence of 1947–with disastrous results. In “Dropped from Heaven,” a mother with three unmarried daughters at home and a copy of Pride and Prejudice in her handbag springs into action when she hears that two single brothers are coming to town looking for brides. And in “Old Man Moses,” a lonely and imperious old man is visited by his Israeli grandson and the young man’s girlfriend, and finds that there is still a place in his heart for love.
Sophie Judah tells these stories in a wonderfully fresh and original voice, and gives us a fascinating look at an ancient, vibrant community that now exists only in memory.

Old Fashioned in the Best Sense of the Term.......2007-07-06
This book of connected tales that take place in the Bene Israel community in India offers a sense of timelessness, despite the stories being grouped by date. Judah's writing is deceptively simple, like the Tao te Ching, and she creates a community in the same way Damon Runyon evokes Broadway hustlers and Giovanni Guareschi's Don Camillo novels give us an aperture to view the lives of the people who live on the River Po.
Having known nothing of the Jewish community in India, I was fascinated by the concept...but found myself caring about the characters even more than the unique setting. You'll find yourself respecting the fiercely honest Joseph and rooting for Hannah and Benny to live a long life together. These are characters and stories and truths that will take up house room in your memory even after you finish the book.
A precious jewel.......2007-06-11
Dropped From Heaven has become our standard Mother's Day and graduation gift. This many layered collection of short stories is many stories wrapped in one. It is a story of a vanished and reborn community, it is story of two world cultures the Indian and the Jewish. As large as the scope is, the collection is humane and paints a loving picture of humanity with all its faults and glories. The stories made me laugh out loud and cry as well.
This book will be our main gift going forward for birthdays and other occasion for our curious, sensitive and adventurous friends and relatives.

Book Description
Experience one of the most startling and controversial metaphysical Jewish events of all time: the creation of a golem, a man crafted out of clay by the exalted Rabbi Yehudah Loevy ben Bezalel (the Maharal) of Prague to protect sixteenth-century Jews from persecution. The author skillfully captures the essence of the golem and examines its aftermath objectively. Features a dramatized adaptation of the documented adventures of the golem and includes a comprehensive overview of Jewish mysticism, black magic, demonology, miracles and science, plus a summary of other golems in Jewish history. Read it for pleasure as well as perspective.
Customer Reviews:
Loved the Golem -- I recommend it.......2000-05-24
Whether you believe in the Golem or not, Gershon Winkler's book is enchanting. The tales he weaves, which help us to see the Maharal (Rabbi Yehuda Loewy) in a more human role, are full of Jewish folklore and kabbalistic references.
I enjoyed this book immensely. I wish there was a second volume with more stories about "Yossele Golem" and The Maharal's Prague.

All in the Family.......2007-10-18
"The Story of Joseph and Judah" is a great introduction to key Biblical perspectives on the interactions of family, character, natural disaster and political inequality. It is also a great introduction to some very profitable ways to study scripture.
As a pastor I have been using it with a group of adults who have a variety of levels of experience with Bible study. The power of the stories themselves is opened up in very helpful ways by the structure and commentary Gage and Barber have given. The readers are helped to pay attention to details that are not in themselves complex, but which most of us ordinarily overlook. And in noting the details, we begin to glimpse the Bible's depth and richness of pattern and meaning.
An excellent book for the average adult Christian study group.
The Story of Joseph and Judah.......2007-05-13
Gage is absolutely brilliant in this comparative of Joseph and Judah. What a beautiful mind to display this study. He is poetic in his presentation. It opened up new doors of thought and most of all he has brought me to see outside the box. Tighten your seatbelt and go for a very special ride to find the truth!
A Wonderful Study Guide!.......2006-08-21
The Story of Joseph and Judah is unlike any study guide I have ever read. So many of my study tools are intended to get that close up on a word of phrase that directs my theology. Through study of the word, this micro-study does prove to be valuable, but as we are trying to get the main point of the author, it is easy to read the Bible in ways other than how the author intended.
The book of Genesis is written in such a way that a macro study ought to be the focal point, due to the purpose for which the book was written. Certainly there are many opportunities for a more micro approach in Genesis, but if we do not take the book in with a wide-angle lens we are certain to miss many of the main points that Moses sought to bring forth. It is these overhead views that we learn to appreciate as we work through the accounting of Joseph and Judah, comparing their lives to one another and seeking themes where many of us once had missed them due to our overemphasis of key words.
Let me stress that this book does not take a low view of inductive Bible study, word studies and the sort. The focus of this book is to take a step back from these studies from time to time and to appreciate the flow of the writing. There are many aspects to the story of Joseph that require a close inspection, but the authors of this study guide present an approach that has proven to be increasingly valuable. It is a method that takes the Bible as literary art and seeks to appreciate it as such. By gathering larger portions of the word of God into my focus, I have learned to take a larger view of God and His provision as He works all things to the good of those who love Him.
Filled with applications for today, we learn in this book that the story of Joseph and Judah is more than just a historical accounting with a few moral lessons thrown in. This is a true work of art meant to be appreciated as such. If you were going to view a masterpiece painting in an art gallery you would likely do some research on it beforehand to improve your experience. With this thought in mind, I give this book my unreserved recommendation as we view one of the greatest masterpieces of all time. This book is the first in a series of "at least ten" books and I certainly hope that ten is a conservative estimate.
A Great Study Guide.......2006-06-01
My wife has a bad habit of forgetting what she has requested for her birthday and Christmas. We celebrated her birthday just a few weeks ago and, upon opening a study guide for the book of Ephesians she looked a little bit surprised. I had to remind her that she had asked for just such a guide. Unfortunately, as with so many similar books, it proved to be a little bit disappointing. It went through the book of Ephesians, but seemed to ask many disjointed and nearly irrelevant questions. It did teach many of the major themes of the book, but it was not a very satisfying or edifying experience.
I have learned to expect to be underwhelmed with study guides. Sadly, it was with this expectation that I began to read The Story of Joseph and Judah, a guide written by Warren Gage, Associate Professor of Old Testament at Knox Theological Seminary and Christopher Barber, a lawyer who is also a graduate of Know Theological Seminary. I am glad to say that this guide, which promises to provide a "fresh look at Genesis 37-50," does just that and does it very well.
The book begins with a metaphor of sorts. Gage and Barber describe a story of two men, both of whom have travelled to Milan to gaze upon Da Vinci's masterpiece the "Last Supper." The first, a scientist, studies the work with a magnifying glass, moving slowly and methodically from top to bottom, left to right. He takes in the delicate brush strokes and the subtle use of color. And then, having studied every inch of the work, he turns his back and leaves, feeling satisfied that he now knows the painting. The second man stands as far away as possible and tries to understand how Da Vinci has captured a moment of Jesus' life. He takes in the big picture, observing how each segment fits with the others. He notices that all the lines in the painting carry the eye directory towards Jesus. And then he too leaves, satisfied that he knows the painting. How is this relevant to The Story of Joseph and Judah? "Our portrayal of the difference between the scientist and the art lover allows us to more easily explain the difference between the book you're now reading and almost any other study of Scripture. Most books examining Genesis (or any other book of the Bible) follow, for the most part, the style of the scientist who stayed very close to the painting. Such studies begin with chapter 1, verse 1, and move line upon line, precept upon precept, breaking down each verse into individual phrases, words, even syllables. Like the scientist, it is as if we have a magnifying glass in our hands, and our noses only inches from the wall" (5). The authors do not believe there is anything inherently wrong with such inductive study, but have decided to provide a different methodology in this study guide. They seek to step back and observe the big picture. It is a unique concept for such study guides and one that proved itself to be very helpful in understanding the passage.
Another unique aspect of this guide is that it begins at the end of a book rather than the beginning. One would expect a study of Genesis to begin with the first chapter. The Story of Joseph and Judah, only the first of a series of guides planned by the authors, begins with the story of Joseph, which they point it comprises seven times more space than the account of creation. "If our goal were simply to read and examine the book as a book, the beginning would be the appropriate starting point. However, we are suggesting that Genesis (and the Bible as a whole) is more than just "a book," but is ultimately a work of art in itself, a masterpiece with a Creator behind it" (8).
And so, over the course of 12 lessons, the authors walk the reader through the fourteen chapters of Genesis that tell the story of Joseph. Yet, as you may have surmised from the title of this book, the authors feel that the true center of this story is none other than Joseph's older brother, Judah. The story of Judah's coversion is the pin in the center of this wheel. They show that this story is a work of art, divinely woven together to bring glory to God.
I found the structure of this study guide as satisfying as any I've ever worked through. The questions are consistently relevant to the passage and there is a good mix of teaching and application. The authors use three icons to guide the reader: an artist's palette points to broad themes and patterns; a magnifying glass points to areas that focus upon a specific word or detail; and a cross brings out the themes, patterns and symbols that appear to reference Christ. Perhaps best of all, the authors do not only ask questions, but they also answer them. Far too often when using study guides I have been unsure of the intent of a question and, since answers were not provided, have had to simply skip over these ones.
The Story of Joseph and Judah is a fresh and biblically-sound examination of this passage of Scripture. I enjoyed it tremendously and am glad to recommend it. I am looking forward to the subsequent volumes in this series and the opportunities these books will surely provide for me to learn more about the story of redemption. If you are interested in a guide for personal or group Bible study, you likely won't do much better than this.
