The Career Fitness Program.......2007-03-31
I expected more from the text, based on the title. The material seems to reflect the job market of 10 years ago - little reference to what's happening in the industry today that job seekers need to know. The text places heavy emphasis on the self-concept and values which are important, but skills the person has and how they relate to positions in the workplace are of utmost importance. An individual may have interest in a career field, but it could be one that's fading not emerging. I was expecting a book that would allow the reader to insert new ideas and new strategies right into a job search. The book may suffice as a supplemental reading, but not as a tutorial on establishing a career and finding a job. It lacks vision. I felt it was analog thinking in a digital world.

A guide for those seeking career decision-making guidance........1998-12-04
This is a book I use as an instructor but has many uses for the general reader as well. From making a decision and creating goals to resume how-to's, this is a helpful guide for those who may want a well-rounded view of career planning. What also makes this book "well-rounded" is its focus on theory. Very applicable for those who are going through a change of career or choosing a major in college.

SINCE STRANGLING ISN'T AN OPTION.......2007-08-23
Very Helpful to me.
Helps me relate/understand why I get annoyed with people because of my already-always-thinking process from my past. I have begun to hear other in a more understanding way...when I am in a good mood that is..some days, if I am not thinking I revert back to my other thinking and lose my patience..!
Great book.......2007-07-29
Some greet perspectives, and provokes great thought and can be very helpful for anyone looking to gain knowledge to help them gain insights that will help give confidence when dealing with others.
Difficult People Are Not Always Difficult.......2006-06-25
This book has a user friendly approach and avoids concentrating on defining the "difficult people" by style, type or category. There are several interesting approaches offered for changing your behavior when dealing with difficult people because, as the author points out, the only behavior you can really control is your own.
The author includes a number of scenarios, some carrying over from chapter to chapter, which aid in understanding the process for dealing with difficult behavior and the predicted, or actual, outcome. While the process suggested by the author may not work for you, and may not work in every instance where you are dealing with a difficult person, there is certainly enough wisdom and information to justify the time spent reading the book.
Good book.......2003-04-07
You should really read this no matter what your disposition. Everyone gets to a point when they want to strangle someone, the title in itself tells how light hearted this book is about a very oppressive subject. Controlling your anger is something most would like to avoid. I advocate this book during my workshops. Take the time to get this one and read it.
Good read.......2002-06-08
I saw this book in a friend's bathroom and decided to buy a copy for myself. I found it to be pretty informative, but not in a monotone/lecturing way. Very helpful. A nice addition to my future library!

Misleading Title.......2001-08-13
I believe the title of this book should be "The Complete Guide to Exit Event Stock Options". The author makes his preference for Exit Event stock options clear early on, and throughout the book focuses his attention in that direction. For those of you who don't know, exit event options are stock options that only vest when a company is sold or completes it's IPO. This is a reasonable approach for companies that are likely to seen an exit event in 2-3 years, but not for a company just starting out.

Book Description
There are many books on how to deal with bullying managers, but what if you'd rather relieve yourself from workplace abuse than be forced to confront the problem? "When You Work for a Bully: Assessing Your Options and Taking Action," which has been profiled on CNN and in "Men's Health" magazine, is one of the few resources available that helps you leave an abusive situation in the workplace in a dignified and financially practical manner. Futterman, founder of online community "My Toxic Boss" and former reporter for "Investor's Business Daily," outlines the exit strategies available and how to manage your finances during this stressful time. Further, she offers guidance on bullying and the law, workers compensation and protecting your health coverage. With Web resources, a list of laws prohibiting job discrimination and dozens of real-life stories of victims of workplace abuse, this book is among the most practical and comprehensive guides for those who wish to cut their losses and move on with their careers. Hailed as "highly recommended" by "Midwest Book Review," "When You Work for a Bully" is destined to become a modern business classic.

work is NOT life.......2007-05-12
Many, maybe most people identify themselves by their profession or the company that they work for. Many times it is a happy, fulfilling part of their life, but if is isn't, there is a good chance someone at your workplace is making you miserable.
If that person is your boss, who constantly undermines your work to the point you question your very self, and when works becomes a source of stress, causing physical ailments, this book will help you decide the path you need to take.
Bullying is unfortunately very real in the workplace and, at least in the US, a legal (though unethical) way to manage employees. I strongly suggest this book to anyone who is physically ill at the thought of going to their place of employment every day.

This is an excellent book for helping an employee understand what bullying is and how to deal with it before it affects a persons health and well-being. Ms. Futterman's book outlines the options you have when confronted with a bully at work. I highly recommend it for anyone in the workplace who may be feeling undue stress brought on by bullying managers or co-workers.

Book Description
It's out there — in the press, on the internet and emblazoned on the glossiest magazine covers: romance rule breaker, the union of older women and younger men. Whether couples marry or live together, the popularity of "age gap" relationships is undoubtedly on the rise. Despite the statistics and the acceptance of such relationships among celebrities, negative stereotypes that surround these romances prevent many older women from having the happy and loving union for which they long; for these older women have not been open to finding a mate from within the large pool of younger men.
In their provocative, groundbreaking guide, Felicia Brings and Susan Winter, both of whom have had long-term relationships with younger men, shatter the myths as they share their thoughts and the experiences of over 200 couples on everything from sex to dealing with her family and his, to handling the criticisms and comments of peers. Advice is delivered with large doses of empowerment, humor and compassion that will help make the brave new world of relationship potential between older women and younger men lead to lasting love.

An Amazing Read.......2007-08-21
I read this book several years ago. I was in a place having been married to a man my own age and stage for almost thirty years. Suddenly I was bowled over by the attention given to me by a much younger man. It was an amazing experience an adventure and of course a curiosity. I wondered and worried and actually I should have worried more but there are not regrets and this book was exsquisite and excellent and recommended. If he were to read this I would love him to know how amazing and awesome it was. And to read the book to gain the insight he had but may now be denying as he will have a life and a young like aged wife just as I had...
Bought as Research, Intriguing Concept.......2007-07-25
Having read some articles on younger men dating older women as a growing trend, I decided to dig a little deeper into the topic. If it's socially acceptable for a man to date a much younger woman, why would the same not apply to an older woman with a younger man? This book aptly covers most aspects of such a pairing. Most interesting were the comments by younger men throughout the chapters; there's even a chapter devoted to their thoughts and experiences.
While I can't see myself dating a much younger man (and am not in a position to do so), I feel the book is insightful, honest, at times amusing, and offers a glimpse into relationships which are very often misunderstood. I'd have to say my attitude has shifted; I'll be more thoughtful and considerate should I meet such a copule from here on out.
The only reason I'm not giving a five star review is I felt the authors at times unfairly generalized about older men versus younger ones. Like women, men are individuals. Not all older men are neanderthals, and not all younger ones flexible, open prince charmings.
Great relationship book!.......2007-07-14
I wish I would have discovered this book 4 years ago at the beginning of my relationship with my younger man! It is so very insightful! Not only for older women, younger men relationships, but for anyone in a relationship. I have shared much of the advice with my friends that are in other kinds of relationships.
Thank you Brings and Winter for all the research you did and writing this book. Everything I have learned from the experiences of the last 4 years was reaffirmed. It has also given me the confidence in the choices I have made.
Here's to the older woman, younger man relationships. They are absolutely the best! Cheers!!
Debbie
Insightful book.......2007-02-20
This book covers the challenges and benefits of a type of relationship not often seen or understood - that of the older woman and the younger man. The authors interviewed numerous older woman/younger man couples for the book. Although some of the interviewees are women in their 30s, the book is geared more toward women in their 40s and 50s who are dating men more than 10 years younger than themselves. It covers everything from managing comments from strangers, dealing with disapproving friends and family, handling insecurity and fear, to more everyday issues such as who pays, what to do when you make more money than he does, how to avoid playing mommy, etc.
The most interesting part of this book is that it focuses on intimate relationships. It is NOT a "cougar" book that advises women to find young studs for hot sex. Instead, it encourages women to simply be open to younger men, and shows women that true intimacy and commitment can be found with younger men. And, as a 30-something who has dated several men in their 20s, I can personally say that the authors' points all ring true. If you are interested in a younger man, pick up this book, and give the relationship a chance.
Only works with good people.......2006-06-06
Great book! I bought one for me and her. Tells you everything you could ever need to know or ask about starting and keeping a yonger man older woman relationship alive and well.
BUT: After many years with the love of my life aged 55 and I 22. She had an affair on me and broke up with me two weeks ago!! She had everything she could have ever needed in this world but she got gready and wanted more so she went for the money man. Love ment nothing to her, I guess I was just her part time "Boy Toy" until she found better.
I am CRUSHED I loved that woman more then life itself. Now she won't even talk to me. She had a frind of her's tell me that it would have never worked out and that I should move on with my life find someone younger and have kids, even though I told her I didn't want kids.
So guys listen up before you end up just like me. STAY AWAY because the pain will be worse then all the good you ever had.

Great starter.......2002-05-11
This is the very first book I ever read on bisexuality. Since then I've found better books on the subject, but this is still a book I'll put my nose into again. The reason it's not the "best" is because I didn't relate to most of the bisexuals Klein interviewed. It was kind of a downer, some of the uptite bis in this book. Then again, he didn't interview very many people. Especially compared to "Bi Any Other Name: Bisexual People Speak Out". Now that is a book where I related to many more of the people. Just goes to show we (bis) are all different. I will always have a lot of respect for Fritz Klein and found his scale on bisexuality very good. Although I don't agree who we prefer to socialize with has anything to do with orientation. I could enjoy a cup of coffee with anyone, that says zilch about orientation! Other than that, I liked the scale. This is an interesting read, for the most part.
Bisexuality: A Feelgood Scholarly Book.......2000-02-22
As one half of a long-time male to male rlp, with a three year periodic sexual rlp with a bisexual male, I was interested in reading Dr Klein's book. This is a scholarly and thoughtful addition to the scant litterature on bisexuality. Dr Klein is a Psychiatrist who specialises in sexual orientation and rlp problems.
In the first half of his book Dr Klein tells us why bisexuality is so hated and misunderstood in gay and "straight" society. He then goes on to reproach the (American) Psychological establishment for their slowness to accept bisexuality as a given. (This reads almost as an apologia, given the conservatism of medical culture). Dr Klein presents a number of patient profiles, and clinical statistics. Disturbingly, there are very few lower-middle class, or poor people represented. The message seems clear: it's easier to be bi' and organise your sexual mobility if you're affluent. This is a book that celebrates the diversity of bisexuality, and encourages the like-oriented to see themselves as "normal". As for the really difficult and uncomfortable issues (ie: the agonising struggle of hetero' and homosexual partners to bisexual men and women, Dr Klein offers little advice. Reprinted from an earlier adition, this 1993 second edition has the "feel good" feeling of 1980's/1990's books on Sociology and Psychology.
An engaging exploration of human sexuality.......2000-01-05
This well-written book is a must-read for anyone struggling, as I have, with bisexuality. It is hopeful, insightful, and very liberating. Dr. Klein presents an engaging balance of theory, research, and case examples. This is a very real and honest presentation of bisexuality.
A great resource for discovering sexual identity........1999-02-20
I liked this book. I found it to be very affirming of my experience. It offers a balanced approach to exploring your sexual identity. I am married and have struggled with my attractions to men. This book shows that there are options for persons attracted to both sexes. It's not black and white. There is a HUGE middle and bisexuality encompasses it. I am bisexual and I feel much freer to make choices out of truth, than feeling like I 'have to be gay' or I'm 'in transition' because I enjoy my attractions to both sexes. The personal stories in the book are a great source of hope and guidance. Well done!
