In the depth of every human being, there is a profound need for answers to the fundamental questions of existence. Is there a God? What is Truth? What is Reality? 'The Knee of Listening' has transformed the lives of thousands of secular and religious seekers since it was first published in 1972, because it answers all of these questions.
This autobiography shows, with incomparable wisdom and clarity, a life moved by the Divine, and a being of such unheard-of greatness that many readers are left amazed and touched by this book.
Adi Da s spiritual autobiography tells the miraculous story of his unique Incarnation and Revelation in the West for the sake of liberating all beings. To read it is to find the very Heart of Reality--tangibly felt in your own heart as the deepest truth of Existence. It is the great mystery that you are invited to discover.
This newly expanded edition includes an expanded description of Adi Da's early-life, leading up to his Divine Re-Awakening in 1970 and the secrets of his birth in 1939. It also has new revelations about the spiritual work of the great Realizers in his lineage, and Adi Da's unique demonstration of the Seventh Stage of Life. The profound events of "Yogic death" (in 1986, 1999, and 2000) that occurred after his Divine Re-Awakening--events that completed his process of Incarnating the Divine Conscious Light are new as well to this new edition.
From Amazon readers of a previous edition:
"... a kick a** book - that really gets to the core of what life, suffering and God Realization is all about.
"... an amazing story of the an actual and real spiritual awakening and transformation..."
Adapted from the introduction:
From time to time, there is a book that challenges, and eventually changes, the entire perspective of a civilization. 'The Knee Of Listening' is such an epoch-making book. Appearing at the beginning of the third millennium of the common era, it carries a Revelation that has the potenti

A profound spiritual autobiography.......2005-04-29
The Knee of Listening by Adi Da Dawn Horse Press 621p (1995)
This is one of many editions of the spiritual autobiography of the unique American mystic
Adi Da. The first edition was 1972 and new editions with more material and much advertising about the group continue to appear. I also got the latest one(2004) which was about 3 times the size and weight but the hundreds of pages of new material was more of the opaque prose and advertising. So, I recommend one of the earlier paperpack editions like this one.
The sticker on the cover says `The most profound spiritual autobiography of all time` and this might well be true. I am in my 60's and have read thousands of books and this if one of the great ones. Certainly it is by far the fullest and clearest account of enlightenment I have ever seen. Even if you have no interest at all in the most fascinating of all human psychological processes, it is an amazing document that reveals a great deal about religion, yoga, and human psychology and probes the depths and limits of human possibilities.
As I have read and experienced alot in various religious traditions, I naturally compare his writings with those of others, particularly with the great Indian mystic Osho. Though they clearly agree on the major points of how to prodceed on the path, letting go of the attachment to the spiritual quest etc. their styles are vastly different. Both are highly intelligent and well read(Osho could speed read and read over 100,000 books) and were at home in the spiritual literature of the major religious traditions. However, most of Da's books are essentially unreadable as he struggles to express in language the ineffable realms of the enlightened mind. Even in this, by far his most readable book, he often veers off into pages of opacity as he tries to explain the unexplainable. Osho by contrast is the clearest, most jargon free expositor of the spiritual life who has ever lived. He wrote very little and nearly all of his more than 200 books are transcriptions of spontaneous talks he gave-- with no notes or preparation. They are nonetheless unexcelled masterpieces of spiritual literature. His amazing àutobiography`(actually compiled after his death) has been published by St. Martins by the full version is available online at www.oshoworld.com and other places. Unfortunately, he has very little to say about the exact details of his spiritual progress.
Most of Osho's talks were videotaped and are available on tape and DVD. As Da lives most of the time in seclusion on an island in Fiji it is not easy to get to hear him but the Dawn Horse Press sells a few videotapes on their web page. Da is not a very engaging or facile speaker, unlike Osho who is by turns amusing, shattering and hypnotic. But, as both of them understand, it's what the master is and not he says that is important.
Both of them were utterly honest and uncompromising in their life and teachings and Da omits nothing of relevance, including his youthful adventures with sex and drugs as well as his exposure to LSD, psilocybin and mescaline as a volunteer in government experiments. However, as with many or perhaps all of those destined to become enlightened, he was different from birth and experienced the Shakti energy (which he calls the Bright) from childhood. And, when he entered college, he said his primary interest was to discover what living beings are and what is living consciousness. Clearly not your typical freshman.
A major problem in describing advanced spiritual states is that no criteria or language for them exists in common discourse so mystics have to try to bend language in mostly vain attempts to capture their experiences. It is far worse than trying to describe seeing to a congenitally blind person since they at least have the cognitive structures and experience of the world. But mystics are quite rare and most of them have left little or no description of their mental states.
Unlike Osho, who rejected miracles, paranormal phenomena and all the other nonsense that commonly accompanies religion, Da seems to lack any science background at all and embraces precognition(p120), reincarnation(p555),`meditating` other persons, living on air(p287) etc., and regards the phenomena that I would say are happening in his brain as being `out there`. From comments included in newer editions it is clear that many of his disciples believe he can perform miracles like stopping a raging forest fire at their California retreat. Nevertheless, most of the time he is amazingly levelheaded, going thru over a decade of stress and psychic terrors that would drive most from the spiritual path. Millions of years of evolution have solidified the ego and it does not leave peacefully.
Interwoven with the spellbinding account of his spiritual progress are the details of the minds interaction with the body described in the East in terms of various forms of Yoga(eg., p95-9, 214-21, 249,281-3, 439-40). These few pages are worth more than a whole shelf of yoga books if you want to get to the heart of the mind/body relation in spirituality.
Unlike most who have become enlightened, he had a thorough grounding in Christian practice and made a major effort to become a protestant and then Greek Orthodox minister. Even years later, after he was far along the path with Muktananda, he had an amazing and totally unexpected series of visitations from Mary and Jesus that went on for weeks(p 301-3 et seq.).
Regarding drugs, as is nearly universal among spiritual teachers, he notes that although they may remove certain barriers at times, they do not provide a shortcut to understanding. However, nearly everyone is now aware that they put many on the path to higher consciousness.
He describes in detail the many stages in his ego death or self realization(eg, p72-4, 198-200, 219,20, 238-9, 245, 249, 258-9, 281, 355-65, 368-72, 406). Along the way, he realized the ultimate disutility of all practices and all traditions(337-9) including yoga(281-3) which are all attached to seeking and goals, ultimately winding up in the present. He discovered, as have many others, that seeking and meditation became obstacles and gave them up for devotion to his guru Muktananda(p420-22). His detailed accounts of his interactions with the famous Swami Muktananda and his ultimate realization of his limitations are of rare insight and honesty.
He constantly encounters his attachment to his ego(Narcissus-- eg, p108-110) and asks himself--`Avoiding Relationship?` by which he seems to mean avoiding the divine or ego death with spiritual seeking.
After enlightenment he teaches the 'only by me revealed and given Way of the heart`, finding all other paths to be `remedial` and 'egoic' and merely pursuing God or reality(p359 +) but after a careful reading of this and several other books I never got any idea what that way consists in. Undoubtedly being in his presence helps alot but in other places he has complained about the fact that his disciples just won't let it happen and one wonders if even one has been able to follow him. Of course the same considerations apply to all traditions and teachers and though some of Osho's friends(he disavowed the master/disciple relationship) have claimed enlightenment, nobody of his status has emerged. It looks like you have to have the right genes and the right environment and a very advanced and preferably enlightened guru to stimulate you. The world desperately needs higher consciousness and I hope that someone comes up with an easier way very soon.
Eye-and-Heart Opening.......2005-02-10
Adi Da Samraj reveals his life and work in the pages of this autobiography, and as that revelation unfolds, a simple fact emerges: he has gone through an extraordinary ordeal to give us all a way to be happy, even right now. It is a fascinating and moving account of how that way came to be, full of both the ordinary trappings of human existence and incredible spiritual awakenings. This book opened my eyes and heart to a rare being. Definitely worth the read.
The most illuminating autobiography you will ever read!.......2005-01-18
This is the most illuminating autobiography you will ever read! It will change your whole idea of life. When I read Adi Da's words, I can feel amazing clarity and bliss pervading my mind and heart. Troubles, seeking, and problems seem to instantly disappear.
I have always loved the prologue to the Knee of Listening, which speaks about the real possibility of freedom from fear of death:
"Death is utterly acceptable to consciousness and life. There has been endless time of numberless deaths, but neither consciousness nor life has ceased to arise. The felt quality and cycle to death has not modified the fragility of flowers, even the flowers within the human body. Therefore, one's understanding of consciousness and life must be turned to That Utter, Inclusive Truth, That Clarity and Wisdom, That Power and Untouchable Gracefulness, That One and only Reality, this evidence suggests. One must cease to live in a superficial and divided way, seeking and demanding consciousness and life in the present apparent form, avoiding and resisting what appears to be the end of consciousness and life in death.
The Heart Is Real understanding. The Heart Is Real Consciousness and Real Life. The Heart Is What Merely and Only Is, but Which Is also Appearing In and Behind the conditions of mortal life and its death. Therefore, it is said of old, the One That Is Is neither born nor come to death, not Alive merely as the limitation of form (itself), not Itself (or Entirely) Rendered in what appears, and, yet, It Is the Living One, than Which there Is no lesser other (and no Great or Greater Other), Appearing As all of this Play of changes, but Eternally One, Unchanging, and Free.
There is Only the Constant Knowledge and Enjoyment of the Heart, moment to moment, through the instant of all conditions of appearance and disappearance. Of This I Am Perfectly Certain. I Am That."
Profound beyond Limit.......2004-07-31
I have just started reading this newly updated book, having read an older version several years ago, and I am even more speechless reading this book - with the profundity, the sacrifice, and the recognition of the One Who speaks through The Knee of Listening. This is spiritually historical, but also very human.
I am newly impressed on each page and each chapter, with the depth of Adi Da's Realization, and with the sacrifice Adi Da has made and continues to make for the sake of returning to the "Bright" not just himself, but as his gift for all humanity, for our liberation and Happiness. The relentless willingness he has to go beyond all limits blows me away! Also, the relationship he had to his teachers is very instructive, especially talking about Nityananda and Vivekenanda. I think this book is a must read for anyone interested in God, Truth, Religion, or anyone on their own spirutual path.
Book Description
Rabbi Adin Steinsaltz is internationally regarded as one of the most brilliant and influential rabbis of our time. He has been lauded by Time magazine as a “once-in-a-millennium scholar” and by Ted Koppel of Night Line as “one of the very few wise men that I’ve ever met.”
Arthur Kurzweil—himself a Jewish scholar, author, teacher, and publisher—has been a disciple of Rabbi Steinsaltz’s for over 25 years, as well as the Rabbi’s designated chauffer in the United States. While stuck in countless traffic jams and attending the Rabbi’s lectures at universities, government agencies, synagogues and seminars, Arthur Kurzweil has had the rare opportunity of personally learning from his inspired teacher and has become intimately familiar with the Rabbi’s wisdom and teachings.
Customer Reviews:
Entertaining, but not quite inspiring.......2007-08-25
This is a wonderful collection of anecdotes by Mr. Kurzweil, a wonderful teacher in his own right. However he just doesn't quite communicate what he finds so inspiring about his own teacher, Rabbi Steinsaltz. The book left me a bit frustrated and wanting more examples of those teachings.
He truly got himself a teacher .......2007-05-31
We are instructed by 'Pirke Avot' to get ourselves a Rabbi, a teacher, a spiritual guide. Arthur Kurzweil took this teaching seriously and has for many years questioned, dialogued with and learned with his own chosen teacher. In this very rich and instructive intellectual and spiritual adventure story Kurzweil tells of his meetings and talks with his revered teacher, Rabbi Adin Steinsaltz.
Kurzweil also tells his own story of return to Judaism, and something of Rabbi Steinsaltz's story. Rabbi Steinsaltz whose father was a kibbutznik himself returned to religious Judaism at the age of seventeen. The fact that he went on to became the great 'talmid chacham',maker and presenter to the Jewish world of a remarkable new translation of the Talmud , and is today considered one of the greatest of all Jewish spiritual leaders is devotedly described in this book.
Arthur Kurzweil in searching for a teacher volunteered to be of any kind of help he could to the Steinsaltz organization. He was given the task of meeting Rabbi Steinsaltz at the airport and chauffering him during his visits to New York. For twenty- five years Kurzweil has chauffered and gained valuable hours of discussion with Rabbi Steinsaltz.
However even before meeting Steinsaltz , Kurzweil was on a path of returning to traditional Judaism. His genealogical researches which are pioneering and central were first undertaken before his meeting with Rabbi Steinsaltz. And this though Rabbi Steinsaltz subsequently greatly encouraged him in these researches, insisting upon the spiritual importance of each person knowing their own roots. Out of this knowledge Rabbi Steinsaltz feels there will certainly come deeper religious obligation.
Arthur Kurzweil in this book is constant in his praise of his teacher. This focusing on his teacher in a way leads him to underplay his own great contributions to the 'Jewish world' As editor he has helped bring to the public many outstanding works of Judaica including works of extremely great spiritual value , such as Yitzhak Buxbaum's 'Jewish Spiritual Practices' Nachum Amsel's work on Jewish Morality and Ethics and Seth Kaddish's work on Jewish Prayer.
Kurzweil describes Rabbi Steinsaltz's meetings with Jewish intellectuals and writers in New York upon the appearance in English of two volumes of his Talmud translation. In citing Steinsaltz's answers to some of these writers' questions he in a sense clarifies a good part of the meaning of the Steinsaltz enterprise. Rabbi Steinsaltz sees the Jewish people , or the greatest share of them as having lost a vital part of their body and soul. They do not know their own religious tradition. In a sense his translation of the Talmud is meant to help them restore that soul.
In other words Steinsaltz is not simply a rabbi for individuals but for the Jewish people as a whole. Here Kurzweil too chronicles Steinsaltz's connection with Habad ( His wife comes from a Habad family) and the whole outreach effort in the Jewish world. But Kurzweil makes it clear that Steinsaltz does not put himself under the rubric of any particular Jewish group but rather works for the Jewish people as a whole.
Kurzweil is not simply a student. He is a vivid and active admirer. He has helped publish much of Rabbi Steinsaltz's work in English. Kurzweil in searching for guidance and wisdom in raising his children also turned to Rabbi Steinsaltz and was helped. The Rabbi advised him among other things that teaching of children need not be confined to what they literally understand.
While it is impossible to question Kurzweil's admiration and devotion to his teacher it is possible to ask whether he is not a bit too uncritical. Even Moshe Reibenu is after all seen in the Jewish tradition as having his faults. And it might even be said that there is something 'non- Jewish' in the kind of total worship various Hasidic groups have displayed towards their 'tzaddikim'.
Yet it must be said that Kurzweil is a devoted student, a person of great intelligence who in his dialogue with Rabbi Steinsaltz also provides knowledge and insight. There may not be equality between student and teacher yet what is felt here is a great mutual respect. And my sense is that Rabbi Steinsaltz has a great appreciation of Arthur Kurzweil as more than simply chauffeur and student, but as true friend and 'mensch'.
I loved reading this book and I think that all those who care about Jewish learning and life, will also do so.
Exceptional Book.......2007-04-12
Anyone who reads this book will find him or herself to be very fortunate indeed to go along for the ride. I have read numerous books, but never one so powerful. It evokes such a wide range of emotions with a turn of a page. You'll find yourself laughing out loud, with tears in your eyes, perplexed or contemplative. Once you finish, you'll want to read it again. Don't be surprised if you find yourself quoting this book to family and friends. I highly recommend it!
A Must Rread.......2007-03-15
This is a book you can hardly put down once you start reading it - the author is so authentic and gives us a personal insight into the life of Rabbi Steinsaltz. Recommend reading The Thirteenth Petaled Rose before or after reading this book.
Spread the Truth.......2007-01-16
Kurzweil opens with a very heartfelt recounting of his return to Judaism and his personal path which led him to Rabbi Steinsaltz. From there the chapters fly by effortlessly, partitioned in small chapters of which each is it's own midrash, giving each of us something to reflect upon and discuss. This is for everyone who wants to know more about not only Steinsaltz, but the beauty and wisdom of the Jewish faith.

another type of Merton.......2007-02-20
A remarkable book of a beloved priest's journey to a greater understanding of God. Striking is his learning, as we all must do, that this spiritual journey in a physical world is difficult and different for each person.
Father Eagan moves to a mystic knowledge of God while living and serving in everyday life. Particulary powerful is his description of God tearing down the "House that Eagan built" and rebuilding into "Eagan's house that God built".
I've had difficulty in reading Father Merton - my weakness obviously not Merton's - but Father Eagan's journey, taken in the same vein as Merton, held me in its grasp from beginning to end.
I note that one reviewer read it in one sitting. I couldn't because each chapter left me emotionally drained and seeking answers to what Father was discussing. After prayer and reflection I returned each day to joining Father Eagan on his journey - a spiritual quest for Jesus.
I highly recommend this little known book - an extraordinary traveler; an extra ordinary quest!
Hard to put down.......2003-09-16
This book was given to me by a friend. He read the book in a single sitting. Impressive, considering it's 193 pages. I picked it up and began reading. I began reading the most powerful book I've read in over a decade.
It's the type of book you know is inspired by a higher power. Fr O Malley definately has a flow to his writing and it that keeps you wanting more. Twice I was moved to tears, tears of sadness and joy, for life, love, for God.
Although good, this book is not for everybody. It's for someone who is searching for God. It is for someone with a desire to do Gods will above all else.
In the end Fr. O Malley dies of cancer and one instinctively understands that this is his way of the cross, sadness mixed with understanding that the way of the cross is never easy.
I highly recommend it.
A traveler toward the dawn.......2001-05-19
This is an inspiring story of a man who lived his life as a high school teacher and Jesuit priest, often wondering whether he was making a difference in these young people's lives. To the reader it is abundantly clear he is making an enormous difference. A must read for anyone in or considering the teaching profession.
Product Description

This lineage is acknowledged and accepted as one of the most respected traditions of Shaktipat. It delves into the deeper mysteries of Yoga and Kundalini and at the same time shows the reader through the practical example of Swami Narayan Tirth Dev Maharaj, how one can live in this world and yet read the final goal of Self-Realization.
Customer Reviews:
A must for serious Mahashakti yoga student........2007-05-13
In "A Guide to Shaktipat" the author focused mainly on the beginning stages of sadhana, while in "The Second Dawn" he goes into more detail on subsequent stages of the path. He expands on subjects that are of interest to students who want answers about experiences they may be having now as well as topics that give insight into the nature of the transformation which takes place within in order to reach the goal of self-realization.
Spiritually Uplifting and and divinely inspiring .......2005-08-29
Like the Churning of the Heart Trilogy, this book too, is about the experiences and teachings the author received in the company of Swami Vishnu Tirth, his spiritual master. The deep and esoteric secrets about levitation, aerial flight, transmigration, the practice of Shaktipat, the Divine Power and the true nature of a disciple and master comes to life in this book. An amazing book. The genuine power and the authority of these SWhaktipat masters is clearly evident through their books.
Published by the Ashram itself, a non-profit organization, the book is priced reasonably.
A Must Read for any serious Spiritual Seeker and mandatory for any Shaktipat aspirant.

The Dawn of the Golden Age: A Spiritual Design for Living.......2002-09-05
Mystic, dadaist, architect, astrologist, vegetarian, couturier - Paco Rabanne is all these things. And he's also an author who recently completed The Dawn of the Golden Age: A Spiritual Design for Living, the last in a series of three books devoted to spiritual themes.
Best known as the world famous fashion designer, Rabanne has been accused of waging a permanent revolution in fashion. But the 62-year-old fashion designer is every bit as heretical in his spiritual views as in his fashion philosophy.
In various magazine interviews he has candidly talked of out-of-body experiences and his belief that in a former life he was one of the Theban priests who murdered Tutankhamen. However, Rabanne is very well schooled in spiritual philosophies and takes his ideas seriously.
The Dawn of the Golden Age describes the dramatic changes that will occur during the transition from the present Kali Yuga era to the future Age of Aquarius. Rabanne says we currently find ourselves in the grip of fear, which manifests as stress on society and the individual. He believes that this state calls for a radical change on the part of humankind, and he attempts to show the way this can be achieved.
Rabanne believes that the myriad of fears and insurmountable difficulties we face today have partly been brought about by the development of technology. This situation causes untold misery on a global scale - the extent and control by machines is now being realised. He also demonstrates how mind control is being achieved via video games and television.
Rabanne possesses the natural gift of being able to see auras. This allows him to perceive that man has become uncentred and turned away from the true path in life.
At the present time, according to the author, humanity sits on the Third Vibrational Level, "from which we will free ourselves little by little, to go towards another life, towards the light of the spiritual world.". But "Satan", who is equated with matter, strives to prevent us from reaching the next level, the Fourth. Everyone will have a choice as the next age dawns - evolve to the next level or stay with "Satan".
Rabanne says that we should ask ourselves questions and listen to the call of the spirit which pleads for growth. By studying sacred works like the Bible and the Quran, as well as Buddhist and other texts, we can find our path to spirituality.
Protecting oneself from negativity and enhancing spiritual development is extensively covered by the author. Chapters like 'Protecting Oneself from One's Enemies' and 'Finding One's Place in the Cosmos', indicate the sort of areas covered by Rabanne.
For example, meditation with a sacred dimension is one of the most beneficial things for development. He explains the three levels and their purpose and effect on mind and body. Protection from enemies is the third phase of the transformation.
One of the ways to defeat the "Prince of this World" is by means of prayers found in Psalms and the correct use of icons for protection. The same methods can also be used to cleanse buildings, homes, and other places where terrible events have taken place. There is a detailed section on how to ward off and neutralise negative thoughts and actions directed towards you.
The end of the book deals with the relationship between humanity and the Earth - how we can relate to it. Rabanne says that the Earth is occupied by elementals and all manner of spirit beings. Many of these will help us because they are in the service of higher beings. However, as guardians of Earth, they will use their power to cause serious destruction if threatened.
The author discusses our place in the Cosmos, the true meaning of Love and ways to demonstrate it. He describes the journey towards Divinity as being clearly defined and attainable by anyone.
The Dawn of the Golden Age includes numerous quotes from the great religious texts. All in all, this book is very comprehensive and enlightening, not only showing the way forward for humanity, but speaking to us on a personal level - pointing us in the right direction to a new level of awareness and the furtherance of our quest to find God.

New Dawn Rising.......2002-04-03
A remarkably brave book that doesn't hold back in plumbing the depths of a range of feelings that few have the courage to tune into. I picked this book up fully expecting to put it down within minutes. I read it in one go, drawn in by the author's poignant, and at times unbearably painful story. A woman determined not to quit till she'd figured it out. She takes us on that journey and cuts us no slack by pussyfooting around the edges of her chaos, desperation and heartbreaking loneliness. The ending is as good a page turner as any book you'll find out there.
Compelling and honest.......1999-10-24
Dawn's book is a compelling and honest look into the process of psychotherapy. As a survivor of therapy abuse and of childhood sexual abuse, I felt a connection with Dawn from the beginning. This is a must read for anyone interested in healing the child within. Thank You Dawn, you have truly given me a wonderful gift.
A riveting, emotional journey..........1999-10-02
Dawn Kohler takes us on riveting, emotional journey. She tells her story--a story of love, abuse, and spiritual transformation--with a great deal of integrity and honesty. Her writing appears to be transparent, as if there is no book between me and the intimate telling of her story. I felt I was right there with her. Despite the horror Dawn Kohler experienced as a child, there is a noticeable lack of a victim script in her story. She is a modern day heroine whose experience alone gives us courage and inspires us to heal our own emotional wounds.
Compelling, touching, and moving.......1999-08-01
This is definitely a must read for anyone who is interested in personal and spiritual growth. As a survivor of childhood sexual abuse and therapy abuse, I was relieved to have read that healing is possible. This book has truly changed my life and how I look at myself.
An enlightening story of spiritual and emotional growth........1999-05-12
Wonderfully written, Ms. Kohler uses her voice and vision to express in words what many of us feel but can not say. The reader is drawn into Dawn's journey as she allows herself to feel and to hear what has been numb and repressed for so long. It is an empowering story that leaves one with desires to make changes in their own life. To look within, and learn to see and hear in ways we may have disregarded before. It is a reminder to breathe.

Journal of faith.......2007-07-28
A poignant and touching story woven together from journals and notes. It speaks of true Christian faith, love of family and sacrifice for others. It is rich in desription and brings back many memories of living in a small town and attending a local Methodist church.
An Inspirational Journal.......2007-07-02
Shadow Dawn is a one-year diary/journal kept by a pioneer "steel magnolia" during the mid-thirties. Mary Adelaide Webb and her Methodist minister husband, Doctor Webb, take the reader on a journey of faith of the shadows before miracle drugs or bypass surgery as well as the joys of their "holy vow" kept throughout a forty-year Christian marriage. The reader is swept up in the optimism Mrs. Webb exhibits even under dire circumstances and the grace she imparts through her thoughts and actions. I wish I could have known Mary Webb; what an inspiration she is!
Hope for a Better Tomorrow.......2007-06-24
This book offers the reader hope, understanding, and how the Robertson's faith saw them through so many hardships. The Robertson's suffered pain, sorrow, and adversity, but their steadfast love and abiding faith in the Lord always prevailed throughout the turmoil in their lives. Even though it was a simpler era of time, the hardships that they endured then is still prevelent today. I would strongly suggest that anyone suffering these adversities to read this book in order to gain a stronger appreciation for what we have and to gain faith and understanding for tomorrow.
AN EXCELLENT READ.......2007-06-16
This is a truly inspirational book and extremely well written. It focuses on the life of two people after the Civil War and the struggles they endured and gives the reader hope and encouragement for a better tomorrow in the world we live. Those principles applied at that time as well as today. The book is a comfort to the hurting in today's world.

A rare gem of a book - don't miss it.......2003-02-01
Too bad this book is out of print. However, those who are interested in the Native American prophesy and spirituality, do NOT miss this one. Wabun Wind started out as a professional writer and journalist, and her shining intellect, scientific skepticism, and eloquent prose make this novel stand apart from others on the same subject. Her uncanny candor, sharp insight, and genuine compassion keeps the reader spellbound as she chronicles a major part of her adult life, which was spent on her own Vision Quest. Highly recommended.
